I sent a text in response to a text I was sent on 6/24. I had to send multiple follow-up texts during business hours and received no reply. Then I sent a text after hours and actually received a response (an auto-response), which told me that I reached them after hours. I never received a prescription to place an order and had to request this. By 7/1, I finally received a call about placing an order. I still did not have my prescription. The woman sent me a link to place the order, which wasn't helpful at all, as she had indicated I would be able to pay with my CareCredit card. Not only was the link wonky, it did not allow me to order. I tried calling the office and it went to voicemail. Then I got a text saying "sorry we missed you. Please send a text as we will see this sooner." Clearly not true. After another text to them, saying how frustrating this experience had been, I was given the same link and told basically the same nonsense. I then asked for my prescription. Then I received a phone call right before I was heading to an appointment (I have wasted days and several hours with no success to order my contacts) and the same person who sent the first link asked if I was able to order my contacts. I told her that I didn't have time at this point. So today, I tried again and kept getting an error. This has been the most inefficient process and unacceptable experience I have ever had to simply order contacts. It should have never taken this long. What a joke. read more

This review covers only the eye/vision exam. Due to recent insurance changes, I saw Dr. Atkins and his team at Eyedentity for the first time. He was recommended in a neighborhood FB group. Appointment can be made either via phone/text, or online. I was able to make an appointment in less than 2 weeks' time. On the day of the appointment, I didn't experience any delays. They already had my insurance information, taken care of via phone prior to the appointment, so I just walked right into the initial imaging portion of the exam. Another lady in a separate room used three machines to 1) photograph the retinas, 2) test the blood pressure of the eye, and 3) get an approximate reading of my eye's prescription. Upon seeing Dr. Atkins and after initial introductions, Dr. Atkins took my glasses to get a reading, which luckily matches the readings from machine #3 above. Phew, that means my eyes didn't take a nosedive from last year. Then he reviewed the retina images with me. These images examine the health of my eyes (as well as me overall, since the blood vessels health and cholesterol are interrelated between eye and body) and rather I am developing glaucoma. Knock on wood, all is well. Then we did the usual is "a or b better" to dial in my prescription. Overall, the appointment was swift and no surprises. While I looked at their eye glasses options at the office, they worked on writing out my prescription. This part took the longest time, surprisingly. All in all, this visit is a reasonable experience that met expectations. read more

I do not recommend this affordable option for glasses or eye check ups. They take longer lunches than as advertised. Currently waiting almost twenty minutes and counting. The optometrist is eccentric. And welcomed me by saying my name 3 different ways then processed to say " well whoever you are, you are next". It was tainted with rudeness. I brought in two frames so that they could put in new lenses for my new prescription. This was three months ago. They never called me to let me know when the lenses were ready so I had to repeatedly call and text them. After two months of waiting they finally told me the glasses were ready. I went in and found that both pairs were done completely wrong. They had to send them both back. After another month of no information from them I called and texted several times and they finally got back to me. It seems that one pair was sitting there and they never even told me. I picked up that pair and was still waiting for the other pair. Today I finally went in to see what was going on and the second pair was there but it had been done completely wrong again. No phone call, no text, nothing. Not only did they screw up both pairs but they just left me hanging for months. They don't just have a problem with the glasses. I thought I'd go into this place looking for a new optometrist. Immediately I noticed everyone had masks on but me. I stood in the lobby for 5 minutes or so looking around and no one even greeted me. This is a strange and wacky optometrist's office and eyeglass store, unlike any I had ever been to.The staff are eclectic, the decor is offbeat, and Dr. Kerry is a hoot. You will either love this place or hate it, as it IS cluttered and colorful and the staff here have hair colors not found in nature and piercings. But do they have a decent selection of glasses? Yes. Do they know their stuff? Yes. Are they friendly? Damn yes. Dr. Kerry reminded me of a cross between Gary Busey and Christopher Lloyd, for some reason. He fancies Hawaiian shirts and Croc shoes. He's quite the eye doctor! But individualism aside, he took the time to explain things to me in a language I understood, and to provide me with a thorough eye exam. I like how they don't dilate your eyes with those dang drops. The store interior can appear messy, with kids' drawings Scotch-taped up and down the rear wall and glasses and trays all about. There doesn't seem to be enough counter space in the store. It's very "home-y", if you have a cluttered home. And multi-colored walls and a fun mural behind the counter. I personally like an eclectic decor, but I definately think the place would appear more professional if they installed some better storage systems and more counter space. Also, a lot of the furtniture was old and dated; I noted the wooden big "lazy Susan" (rotating round table) in the dr's office had some chips in it, and other wooden furniture pieces seemed scuffed, with worn paint, etc. This is in contrast to modern eye exam equipment and thorough care. I think the place would be better served to update its furnishings. That said, they have an extensive selection of frames. The average price for a pair of frames is $250 (with some being a bit more and some, a bit less). This is for the frames only (not the lenses, or any of the add-on lens features one might want, like anti-scratch, polycarbonate thin-ness, etc.). Even with insurance, it adds up to a lot, and I ended up paying over $200 out of pocket. But did I get a nice pair of glasses? Yes. Was it completed fairly quicky? Yes (ready in a week). I'm still getting used to the prescription, as the glasses seem hyper-sharp to my eyes, but I like them, they're "hip" and well-made. They billed my insurance directly, which I appreciated (with Lens Crafters, I had to pay out of pocket, then fill out forms to submit to my insurance and wait - for months - for the reimbursement). All in all, this was a positive experience, doing business here. read more

I walked into Eyedentity with my father, who is retired and insured through a Medicare Part C Advantage Plan (primary) and Medicaid (secondary). Normally, people who are covered under Medicare Part A and B do not have vision hardware benefits. However, my dad's Part C plan offered vision and hardware benefits, so we chose Eyedentity since my dad badly needed a new pair of distance glasses for driving. We were barely acknowledged when we walked in, but I figured that they were busy so I took my dad around to take a look at the frames. Eventually, someone named Emerlinda came over to help us. She seemed nice enough at first, but eventually, I came to realize that her customer service was truly appalling. She kept on insisting that my father's Medicare had no hardware benefits and wanted to bill Medicaid even though I told her that those services were covered through his Part C Plan. I asked her and the receptionist to double-check my father's Medicare benefits but they were both dismissive and brushed my request aside. Obviously, they made assumptions, stuck firmly to them, and treated me as if I knew nothing about my father's insurance. Secondly, I was getting frustrated because she kept trying to UPSELL every little product and service! We told her very clearly that my dad needed distance glasses for driving, but she tried to get my dad to buy reading glasses, bifocals, clip-ons, and transition lenses. We politely declined but she just didn't get the hint. She went on to try to pitch my dad on polarized sunglasses and trying to use scare tactics on him. About how the elderly need to protect their vision and eye health from the increased UV rays. My dad showed her that he already had sunglasses but she told him they were no good. Even though his sunglasses were made FOR PILOTS AND ISSUED BY THE AIR FORCE! She claimed that his sunglasses weren't polarized and treated them like a cheap pair you get from some gas station. After that, she asked us about our ethnic background and made an insensitive offhand remark regarding stereotypical professions people of our background had. It was totally ignorant and uncalled for. She was not helpful and acted like a used car salesman. It made me disappointed because I went into the shop hoping to get my dad a pair of glasses and left feeling like it was the type of place to prey on older retired adults through their fears or their lack of knowledge about their insurance plans. I finally cleared things up by calling my dad's insurance company myself and having them talk to the store staff. You would think it would be their job to verify patient eligibility and benefits, but no I had to do that too. I definitely do not recommend this place. read more

From the exam and picking out glasses process was easy, they explain in length what is covered by your insurance so you can estimate the cost and not just be surprised in the end. Dr. Atkins is fantastic, a bit quirky, but makes your eye appointment a fun experience. I was just in there for the second time on Saturday for a contact exam and everything went so smooth. I got to take trials home with me and they made sure I knew how to put them in and out of my eyes before I walked out the door. They also told me numerous times to call if the first pair don't work and they will be more then happy to send me home with variety of different brands. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place and everyone who works here. They are the most kooky and sarcastic people I've met but they genuinely care about your eyes. The interior is different, yes. Some people may prefer the drab and bland offices you might visit everywhere else, but at least I'll forever remember and recommend this place!! A visit to their eye doctor is quick with an appointment, usually under 30 minutes and he will definitely make you laugh and have fun. I have VERY SENSITIVE eyes and work in beauty department stores everyday so finding the right daily contacts was a challenge. THEY GAVE ME 3 WEEKS OF CONTACTS FOR FREE, all different kindS and even when none of them were to my liking, they gave me ANOTHER WEEK FREE. This is incredible!!!!!!!!!!! When I went in to order my contacts (the fourth kind were perfect) they didn't have them in stock and gave me ANOTHER WEEK FREE just for the inconvenience. ****They have switched around their filing system so don't be discouraged if it takes all of 10-15 minutes for them to find your file. Be kind and realize they are growing as a business and are doing the best they can. ****Also, call to order and schedule your appointment because every time I've visited, there is always another guest being helped, maybe 2 or 3. The customer service is attrocious, but the quality of the items is good. It's taken me over a month and numerous phone calls and they still haven't shipped my contacts to me. First it was they lost the insurance card, then someone "told them I was coming in to pick them up." As long as you're willing to babysit them with phone calls every few days and don't mind not having them mailed to you you'll be completely fine with this company. They are extremely friendly and the doctor is very knowledgeable, but the coordination between staff is probably the worst I've ever seen in a business. Also, due to the way they bill their tests I ended up having to pay an additional 25$ for the exam. All said, I'll definitely not be going back as I don't have the patience and/or energy to babysit a company for something as simple as shipping my contacts. read more

I LOVE the glasses and the service at Eyedentity. Robyn and the rest of the sales staff are so great! They don't mind pulling out a gazillion pairs for you to try on. So what if you have a mega pile of glasses on the table!? This is the second time I've come to Eyedentity for both an eye exam and a new pair (or two). About the eye exam, I really had a great educational experience. Dr Kerry uses a computer to take a picture of the inside of your eye instead of dilating with drops. Then, he educates about the eye and shows you what things mean. I went home and told my fiance all about my eyes. I'm sure I bored him but I thought the experience was fascinating! read more

Once I saw the sign hanging "Sarcasm is one of the services we offer" sign, I was totally at ease, because humor is one of the few, pure things left in the world that everyone is able to enjoy. I learned some new things, and the doc took the time to explain to me what he was seeing, and then double/triple checked the accuracy. Considering that I was significantly over-prescribed for the last 4 years by other optometrists, the value to me personally was significant. How can you not love this place!!!! The eye exam is wonderful! Dr. Kerry is very personable and energetic. He keeps up on technology and I didn't have to have my eyes dilated. Very knowledgeable and efficient. My appt was right on time, no waiting around. They are willing to work with your insurance and try to help get coverage. The office is fun and quirky just like the staff and Doctor. They have a TON of frames to look at and try on. They have a wide range of prices of will do what they can to make the glasses you love fit into your budget. Yes they are crazy busy but you will get plenty of attention when it is your turn. I had two staff member helping me pick out the frames and fit my face AND personality. I decided to be a risk taker and went with the funky frames. I can't wait to get them. You will get an honest opinion on your glasses while having fun. Everyone gets involved, even other customers. If you are looking for a sedate, sterile feeling this is NOT the place for you. Must have a fun personality to enter. Only draw back is their lab can be slow and sometimes it is really busy and there can be mix ups. The staff will be there to fix it and do their best to make up for the error. Be patient have fun and you will not be disappointed in this doctor and quirky staff. I just purchased a new pair of glasses from this store. This was my fourth stop after checking other stores in the area. The selection of OVO frames they had was expansive and I was able to find a light frame that I really liked. When the glasses were ready, I received a text to come and pick them up. Unfortunately the lenses were off a bit in their center of focus. One of the things I care about is how a store treats customers when something is off, and here is where their store got high marks. The person we were working with, Maayan, immediately had them remade with no fuss or bother and I am enjoying them now. Next time, this will be the first store I go to. read more

I had the worse experience ever at this office. First of all the entire place was weird I was not expecting to see an optometrist office so unprofessional and the staff as well. I thought I was at a thrift store because it smelled so bad, the staff look like they were going to a Halloween party. So this is my first visit and I wanted contacts they checked my insurance for copay and I did not have one and they told me they had the contacts I needed and also gave me some saline bottles all for free because they were giving me trials. At the end of the visit they told me I owe them $70 for teaching me how to put the contacts on. These thieves did not teach me how to put them on I had to go somewhere else to get help!. !!!!! I can't say enough about the customer service and level of commitment to satisfaction that the office team has. From the moment you walk in to the shop, you are greeted with enthusiasm (and they are ACTUALLY glad to see you!). They take the time to help you pick out frames, explain all the details you want to know, and don't treat you like they're doing you a favor, like so many other businesses do. My bf has been going here for years, and he recommended them to me. Forget big box wholesalers and indifferent docs, this is where you should go for your next pair of glasses. I've been a loyal customer for the last 8 years and after being convinced recently to 'try out' a discount pair of glasses elsewhere, came rushing back to Eyedentity's unique selection and kick-ass staff. Robin and team have consistently been helping me break out of my optical comfort zone and choose some really cool frames from the astonishing assortment the store has to offer. Doc is quick, personable and makes you feel comfortable throughout the exam process and has some cool tech in the back room to show you a bird's eye view (har) of your very own peepers. There seem to be fewer and fewer business like this out there that operate like a small dysfunctional family. Are they perfect?
