We've been patients of Dr. Lim's for the last three years. He is amazing along with his staff. With our youngest being on the autism spectrum, he is patient as he explains what he'll be doing and is thorough in our appointment explaining the results of the different diagnostics he applies to assess health of your eyes. I appreciate his sense of humor and kind demeanor. Tatiana who works at his Kirkland Optix location has a great eye for what frame works best for your face and takes the pain out of finding that perfect pair of glasses. First they take your medical insurance information saying they take it just in case they provide medical service. Then they charge your medical insurance just for looking at your retina image. However, they disclose that the medical insurance will be charged only after the retina image is taken and looked at. When you tell them that they should have disclosed the retina imaging will require charging medical insurance, they get offended saying they were transparent with you. They think transparency means that they told you your medical insurance will be charged after imaging has been already done. I went to Kirkland vision center a few months ago after I lost my glasses and only had my prescription sunglasses left, so I went there because I wanted to support a local business. I was treated nicely by the staff, I'll give them that, however the doctor's attitude left something to be desired: he seemed to just be just going through the motions, rushing through the tests, and dismissed some of my concerns. We went through the tests and he said I was only "one step away" from my last prescription, which has later been found out to be completely false. The staff helped me pick out two pairs of sunglasses among their racks, I found a nice pair of glasses that I liked and I fell in love with a pair of aviator sunglasses from a designer brand. For the frames and lenses of the regular glasses, that came out to be around $250ish, but then they charged me $900 for the sunglasses! I felt a little unsure of that, but I liked the glasses and felt it was worth it. Boy howdy was I wrong! I noticed in the following months that I was having increased headaches with my new glasses/sunglasses, and that my vision without my glasses was getting worse. When my new glasses had a piece of the frame fall off, I ended up going back to my regular optometrist and guess what? I was right!! The glasses were not an accurate prescription for what I needed, and were making my eyesight worse!!! All calls went to voicemail and I still have not heard back, so you know what? Forget it. -5 starts for the professional staff and for Dr. Dan who's very thorough. Zero stars for outrageous prices with low quality material and no return or exchange policy. Come here for the eye exam, don't buy glasses from them unless you want expensive, but subpar product with no recourse. -I have come here for a few years and had a rushed exam with the owner, Dr. Lim. Then I met Dr. Dan and I liked how thorough he was. This year I decided to get a pair of glasses from them. Staff is very professional and helpful but I should've known the no return policy is not a good sign. -My insurances defines a max out of pocket for each category. e.g. lenses up to $xx after allowance, anti scratch up to $yy after allowance. They charge the max. -I picked a pair that I was told can be adjusted as much as I want later. It turns out they can't and were uncomfortable. In addition the lenses were the digital lenses with the digital markings/etching on them which I hated and wish they showed me what those look like when I asked them. Not to mention a scratch on the lens as well. -No return policy. So, I'm forced to pick another pair. They refuse to take responsibility for anything and lower any of the "restyling" fee. So, I had to pay $59 for a cheaper frame than original and non-digital lenses on top of the $278 (after $503 insurance savings). Lim did call me back but was rude and condescending. But I paid money and I'm stuck with them. I sucked it up and paid till I get my replacement pair -I pick up the second pair and the lenses are again scratched out of the box. I'm being whitewashed into accepting it's not a scratch. Eventually they budge and replace it using the lens warranty as if I caused the scratch. -I no have a pair of glasses that cost me $337 and they made $840 on it. And within two days the anti scratch is not holding up. a tiny scratch has already formed despite only using the cloths that came with it. I think it's lower quality than Warby Parker. But I'm done with them and never stepping foot in there again. read more

The gal who helps you with your frames goes above and beyond trying to find something that fits your face and your budget. Updating my review after coming in again for this year's annual exam. After my previous experience last year with a different optometrist, Dr. Lim actually called me personally to try to address any remaining concerns I had after my subpar visit. I appreciated the fact that he was willing to reach out and try to make things right. When it came time again this year I decided to make an appointment with him and overall it was much better than my previous visit. Dr. Lim was fully engaged the entire time, and super friendly to boot. I enjoyed chatting with him about my vision health and other various subjects and will be coming back later to pick out new glasses. I set up an appointment at Kirkland Vision Center (Katie) after finding that they were Rudy Project Sunglasses distributors. They were ready with the glasses I was interested in and provided me with several additional options. Katie answered all my questions considerately and once we decided on a pair she sent me detailed itemized list in email of the cost in less than a day. We have used Kirkland Vision center for regular eye exams for several years. We also bought glasses for my daughter last year. I find the staff overall to be very skilled and professional. This is especially true with one of my kids who tends to be particularly wiggly and selectively-cooperative. Dr. Lin engaged her and (most importantly) was very patient with her when she needed a break. He took his time with her to make sure his assessment was accurate. In a house with 3 small kids, glasses are a huge liability - when we've had to have them (ahem....) adjusted, the staff has been incredibly helpful and responsive to our needs. There are limited people allowed in the facility at the current time due to COVID - therefore any contact (pick up of a px, repair, etc.) requires an appointment. We've found that appointments are not difficult to book and often, they can accommodate emergencies. We plan to continue using this facility for our vision needs in the future. read more

The eye exam was about what I'd expect but I also wanted to use my insurance to buy non-prescription sunglasses. One reason I chose this vision center was because they have a large selection and are a Maui Jim authorized retailer. They charged a deposit to order the pair I wanted and at that time I was told the price should match the price on Maui Jim's website. When I arrived to try them on and buy, I was told they actually charge a markup and instead are $63 more than buying direct from Maui Jim! When I asked why all they could say was that they help with warranty claims and such but nothing compelling for such an increase. If I'd been told up front I would not have asked for them to be ordered. When I mentioned I was told the pricing on the website was accurate, they apologized and proceeded to explain that my insurance gives me an additional discount ignoring the fact that it still constitutes a markup (and really I'm just getting a slightly smaller markup due to the discount). A company who cares about their customers would've either offered to refund me the $20 deposit or uphold the price I was originally told. I'll be finding a more up front vision center for my next exam as well as any exams for my family. read more

Kirkland Vision Center is a wonderful place to have your annual eye exam completed at. Dr. Livingston provided a very complete eye exam and took the time to really understand my vision needs. I was impressed at the amount of conversation she provided in understanding individual aspects of my eye health, ensuring the most complete exam possible. Dr. Livingston is friendly, personable and it is clear she cares about the guests she serves. The front desk and scheduling staff is polite and is accommodating to requests. The store has competitive prices for frames (for being in an eye care provider location), or is happy to provide a script that you can use to fill at competitor. I am very grateful for the service of Dr. Livingston and will be sure to use Kirkland Vision Center if I am residing in the area for my vision exam next year. *When reviewing other Yelps, be sure to check the dates and reasons for the Yelp. I had a really bad experience at this location a little while ago, and frankly, I thought I was over it, but obviously it was so bad that I'm still thinking about it. I'm not sure why I didn't write a review sooner. Anyway here it goes. I managed to snap literally in half a pair of glasses that I bought at this location. Simple enough, right? Apparently not. I take the glasses back and get a confusing story as to whether or not they're under warranty. After about 30 minutes of confusion they take the glasses back for repair as a courtesy to me. Wouldn't have been so bad if not for the attitude, but I digress. One or two days later I notice that the lenses are beginning to peel away. As someone who's worn glasses since the tender age of 10, this was something completely new. I take the glasses back and after yet another confusing conversation about the warranty, the lady at the front desk tells me that this is something that happens to all glasses. I told her that I didn't know where she got her glasses , but this is not something that happens to lenses regularly. She then wasted another hour lying to my face about how glasses just fall apart sometimes particularly after they're replaced. Well I guess that's normal for this Vision Center because that's where I got the frames that broke and the lenses that fell apart. So guess what? I'm not going back. The fact that this place is still open astounds me. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

Kirkland Vision seems to have a great selection of frames and a eager, hardworking staff, but trying to get my lenses replaced there was a big hassle. First I was told it would take 4-5 business days (which is a bit untenable as these are my driving glasses!), after some protest they revised their estimate to 15 minutes if I brought it in the next day after their courier arrived at 10 AM. I dropped off my frames at 10:30 (the courier had not arrived yet) and went back at 3:45 to find out the frame guy hadn't gotten around to putting my lenses in yet (glad I decided to drop in earlier than the end of the day!). I sat in the waiting area while they finished my lenses (which to be fair took ~10 minutes), and the receptionist tried to make things right with some free lens cleaner and wipes. I'm eager to support local businesses (especially the ones I can walk to from my work!) but I'll be using a different eyewear place in the future. read more

Extremely disappointed. A bunch of crooks work there. I was told different things by different people at the front desk, and it and often cost me far more than it should have. I was once told that the warranty on my glasses had run out when I still had another month. My mother received a similar story. The doctor (who is no longer there, thank goodness) wouldn't fit me for contacts because he didn't "trust" them. What finally made me leave was after getting my frame fixed, immediately after, the glass of my lenses began to strip. Severely. I couldn't drive. I was told by one person that this sort of stripping was normal and happened to all glasses (a blatant lie in case you we're wondering). Another told me that the lenses were defective, but I had waited too long and my warranty was up (I would find out later it wasn't). And finally, another at the front desk told me that many others had complained of such an issue with that maker, and the vision center want working with them anymore. The first lady tried to tell me that if there was anything wrong with my glasses, it was my fault and I should buy new glasses. I told her I didn't want to spend another $300 on defective frames and lenses (especially since I don't wear glasses often), and she told me that my glasses didn't "look that expensive." Umm, excuse me. I bought them from you. The frame alone was $250 more than it was worth. They lost 4 customers, and I am never going back. I recommend you follow my example and save yourself time, money, and a big headache. read more

The Doctor and the Staff are great. The frames selection is great there too. The only issue I have experienced with this place is the turn around time in getting some of the lenses back...? I am still waiting for the ones that I paid for three weeks ago. Lost what I used to have instead!!! My eyes get irritated while I am sitting behind the computer for long hours. After visiting Kirkland Optx, I got eye glasses just to address this issue. In my second visit, I got new glasses to improve readability of tiny letters which I barely read. Two months later, I noticed that my vision without glasses, sharply went down. I used to read letters on my cellphone or a computer up-close without glasses; now not anymore. In my last visit, I went back to the clinic and told the story. And the Dr. said me that it's natural and vision declines as age ticks upside. I understand that but that shouldn't happen to me at this time as it's drastic changes. On top of that such degradation of my visit came after wearing after few months. How could that happen in few months? Tried to explain or challenge him, but no luck. The doctor defended the action. Now, I decided not to wear the glass anymore until I see other doctor and I bought anti glare for my computer instead. That's it! I believe that I got the wrong glasses or the prescribed glasses impacted my vision but don't know what I can do to get it back. Any suggestions towards my action ? read more

I went here for the first time early January because I switched insurance plans and had read good reviews. The first visit was fine, I walked out with an "updated" contact lens prescription. When I got home I uploaded a photo of it to Warby Parker to order the newest version of the contacts prescribed, then they arrived I tried a pair and realized they were the completely wrong power. I went back and realized that the script Kirkland Vision wrote was off by -2 power from my last lens prescription... I called the office and they saw me again today. Today, they acknowledged the error and said it was "a technical" one on their end, but never apologized for giving me the incorrect prescription. I asked the front desk if there was any way I could get a credit or discount for ordering new and correct contacts since I can no longer return the ones I ordered that are incorrect and am now out $150 and have 3 months of contacts that I can't use. Someone from the front desk called twice today and essentially said that they did their due diligence by seeing me again for free and giving me the updated script. They never seemed to understand that their original error was the only reason I ordered the wrong contacts in the first place and was the reason I had to come back to be seen. I was horribly appalled by the lack of customer service and even called a friend in optometry to make sure I wasn't being a horrible entitled wretch. I felt like the least they could have done was order me a few weeks of the correct prescription on the house, since I spent $150 on the wrong ones because of the information they provided me. I will never be coming back here and advise anyone else to look into other options... this seemed like such a simple customer service fix to me and I was left feeling totally baffled and furious. Sort of like getting the wrong thing brought to you at a restaurant and then being asked to pay for both, ya know? read more

Done with this place. I have been going here for a few years and it was great when I first got my lenses. That has changed. NOTE: The doctor's are good. I went in for a check-up 6 months ago and had to get a stronger prescription.. and that's where it started! They didn't call me for WEEKS and I kept checking in on them. A week and a half passed, can't see anything, called them asking for the status. "Oh it was returned to the manufacture because they were done incorrectly." Okay... I say, "and no one thought to call me?" They apologized, I moved on, waited another week. I call again asking.. and what do you know. They were sent back AGAIN! The manufacture messed up twice. Okay, I can understand the distributor screwing up a prescription, I really can. But you haven't reached out to me once to inform me? I have to reach out to you for nearly 4 weeks? Mind you, they collected my only glasses (I can't wear contacts) at the end of my appointment in anticipation for receiving the new lenses. I had a trip a few days later that I would not have my glasses for. I was blind. I return from my trip and pick up my glasses. I didn't say anything in the office but they apologized and gave me a little gift bag. I figured it was a fluke. It wasn't! Fast forward to a month ago. The leg of my glasses had broken off and I called asking for a replacement.They said 4 days. I call a week and a half later, (considering they aren't open on a weekend) asking for a status. "Oh they were back ordered. Another 4 days." Alright. Sounds familiar doesn't it? I ask why they didn't call and they start lying to me. LYING. "Oh.. look at that we don't have the last digit of your phone number!" You don't? How convenient! I wonder how you have been calling me in the past then. I call again this morning (pushing 3 weeks) as it has been over a week since their 4 day comment and apparently it's back-ordered again. Kirkland Vision Center, I do not understand you. Here's a tip: if you had simply CALLED ME and informed me instead of lying to me to cover your ass, I would have still been a customer. I asked to see the paperwork for the back-ordered claim but who knows if they will show me. I asked them to email my prescription info as I will not be returning to that incompetent office. Call your customers who depend on your products. Do not lie to them multiple times. I caught your admins in two lies. I am done. If they were honest with me I would have understood. I should not have to wait over a month for new frames or an updated script while you hold my glasses hostage. Unbelievable. read more

I managed to partially back over my glasses in my car and the technicians at Kirkland Vision Center saved my weekend. I took the squished frames in to them and after a few disclaimers about the maybe breaking frames while trying to get them usable that I very much agreed to they were able to get the glasses quite usable. They saved my from my own bone-headed move and I can see until I head in to order a new pair on Monday. This is some serious service from a business that I was not even a customer of and it saved my weekend. read more

Sadly Kirkland Vision is not what it was when Dr. Peter's owned the practice. I stayed with KV after Dr. Peters retired and was happy with Dr. Sham. She was excellent, on time and made sure she had reviewed the records sent by my ophthalmologist and knew my history with him too. This last visit I was asked be there 10 mins early to complete paperwork, I was there. My appointment time came and went, so I asked the receptionist if I had the wrong time 'no Dr. Jessica has other patients to see'. I asked how long and really didn't get a response, there was another person waiting too. I was about to cancel and leave as I too had appointments with others and I do not like to be late, I was called into see Dr. Jessica. No apology for her being late was forthcoming, very impersonal exam, I was happy when it was over. Dr. Peters ran a very efficient business and he was never late for an appointment never. Cindy and his staff were always on top of what was happening and friendly, so sad to see how badly his business has changed. If you have all the time in the world to wait on a Dr. then good luck because for sure you will at Kirkland Vision. read more

Yeah... I got my eyes DILATED! I CAN"T SEE! I AM TYPING IN UPPERCASE!! Ok, after waiting an hour I can see a little better to type my review. I have been bad bad girl.. not getting my eyes checked for God knows how long. OOOPS. So lately my eyes have been tired, strained, and just hurting. Along comes my appointment. Dr. Peters was very informative on what he was going to do, explained why my eyes hurt... (I am farsighted and my eyes strain even to see distances). Although this eye dilation makes me look like an anime character, I will not be missing an eye exam anytime soon. Roxana is a ROCK star and picked out my new glasses ... the FIRST ones she showed me were the winners. She is a glasses whisperer. And, even better, my glasses prescription is IN stock, so I get today! My insurance covered a good portion of my glasses and exam, so I am a happy camper... hopefully the anime eyes will go away soon. read more

STAY AWAY!!!! Horrible Dr. Horrible staff. Came here spent over 2000 dollars and that is including after my insurance paid. So all together spent close to 3500.00 dollars, the doctor suggested a new brand of contacts they were more expensive but I have a flex spending account on top of pretty darn good insurance so I said yes to them he also suggested new glasses and sunglasses. I'm not the expert so I said ok. About three weeks later everything came in and I picked everything up. My contacts ripped within a week. My sunglasses were scratched as well. At which time I brought everything in and was told they would be replacing everything and thy were under warranty. Then when I went to go everything up again the doctor who is the owner pulled me into the back room and started yelling at me stating I was a liar. I told him how am I a liar your staff told me twice that it was under warranty. And I walked out then he followed me into the waiting here where I was waiting for my glasses and contacts and was making a scene in front of his patients. After his front office staff handed me the bag I noticed they stole three boxes out of the bag and they weren't going to give them back to me until I started saying he was a thief they finally gave them back and I left. I work in the medical field for a long time and I have never in my whole life ever seen a provider act this way. If you want to get yelled at, and accused and then be stolen from then by all means go here. But if you don't then find some place else to go. read more

I cant beleive what happened to me at this place and still in SHOCK! Let me start out by letting you know I spent 1500/$ on 12/29/2011 on a new pair of frames w/lenses, 18 months of contacts, 1 pair of oakleys and 1 pair of Rudy Projects sun glasses. I called two weeks ago and let them know my contacts have been ripping constantly(16 lenses in 3 months) and that my new Oakleys had scratches on them. The lady at the counter said they would replace my contacts that they are probably a bad batch she has seen this before. She also said the Oakleys had a year warranty on these and the lens will be covered. I dropped the glasses off 4/14. They called me Tue 4/17 and said sorry the lens will be 100$ out of my pocket. I of course was not happy and demanded to speak to a manager. Well the manger is a Crazy(i'll explain why ) guy in his 70's. He clled me back 2 days later and was Very aggressive and rude the entire conversation. He asked me if the lady I spoke with told me the lens was warrented and I Truthfully said yes! He reluctantly said he's pay but the 1500$ I spent meant nothing 4 months after. What?!?!?! So my girlfriend and I went in there yesterday (4/28). I dropped off the 6 pcks of contacts and the lenses I received from Oakley to get replaced. They said to come back in 30 mins. An hour later I get a yell from the back room from the older owner who said he wants to show me how you really put in a contact! I have been wearing contacts for 16 years! I told him no thanks I've been waiting long enough and I have plans for the day that I want my stuff. He walked up into my face and Yelled I was a Liar (he was refeering to the sunglasses) and that I made up a lie about the warranty. He continued yelling at me "Liar" and he would not exchange the contacts and sun glasses. Then he tried to get me to go back into another room in the very back. It was something I have never ever seen! I called him a thief many times and he clenched his fist about 3 feet away gesturing he would hit me. There were plenty of customers to witness this and my girlfriend video taped some of this uncalled for confrontation! As the lady at the front desk handed me my bag there were 4 boxes of contacts missing. They tried to take these as well and reluctantly gave them back since I paid for them! We have contacted a lawyer and reported to better business bureau. STAY AWAY the owner will probably lose his license after this video is released!!! read more

The eye exam went pretty well and initially I liked the doctor. But then he prescribed me "reading glasses". I have almost a perfect vision and mostly came there for a check-up, I didn't actually need any glasses. So I came back to pick up my glasses, I put them on and I could see almost nothing! Then I took them off and I was dizzy for a minute. The doctor told me it was a normal thing. So I asked him how was I supposed to read in them if I could see nothing and then become dizzy for a minute. And he answered that he could replace the lenses with the double ones (like the grandmas are wearing). Also, the lenses themselves were really poorly mounted to the frame. There was a a visible gap between the frame and each of the lenses. But the doctor didn't see any problem with that. So it's a really weird place, you should avoid if you can. read more

Been a patient at KVC for over 10yrs. Dr Peters was a good doctor, but Dr Lim is fantastic. Very friendly and highly competent. More than just normal vision check ups, he has rescued two different torn contact lens from my eye. One time even coming in on a Sunday morning to pull he piece out. Both times he was extremely thorough and gentle. Didn't even charge me for the emergency visit on a Sunday! Who does that!? A doctor that genuinely cares about his patients, that's who! I highly recommend him to anyone on the Eastside. read more

I spent the last 15 years thinking I was going blind, only to find out I just had 3 eye doctors who were not able to make good corrections on my eyes! I'm 58 years old and I work in computers. Sometimes I have to work away from home later than the buses run. Until I switched to Dr. Peters. and he made a prescription of driving glasses for me, I was a danger to myself and others, worried that I would have to take a lesser paying job permanently. Dr Peters figured out how to eliminate the glare that caused fuzz, making it possible for me to judge distance so that I could switch lanes on the freeway at night. He sharpened my vision so that I could read street name signs before I reach the corner. My night vision had never been good, but with the driving glasses I have from him, my eyesight is about how it was 30 years ago, and I'm confident that my brain is getting the right information to make good driving decisions again. I don't know why the other optometrists couldn't do what Dr. Peters did, but I'm happy to pay a bit more for having my sight restored. read more

Dr. Lim is a master of his craft. He was able to figure out what 3 eye doctors before him have failed to do - find a perfect mix of the right contact and the right prescription so that I can see without constantly squinting. I had thought my astigmatism and vision were just getting to a point where they couldn't be fully corrected with contacts. I also thought that all eye doctors would figure out the same prescription. I am ecstatic to say that I was wrong on both accounts -- I can see perfectly now thanks to Dr. Lim! On the softer side of things I'll also say that the staff is friendly and helpful and Dr. Lim has a really easy to like personality. My only negative is that I wish they had some better technology for appointment reminders. I love the text reminders I get from my dentist and the ability to confirm that I am going to show up. read more

I've had three check-ups now the past four or five years and I'm very happy with Kirkland Vision Center. My check-ups are always fast but thorough and I really like the selection of frames that they stock. I've been neglecting an eye exam for the last 15 months. I figured it was time to get it checked. I decided to try out Kirkland Vision Center and was thoroughly impressed. Let me start by saying that the staff was very friendly and they greeted me right as I entered the store. They were very helpful and made me felt at home. I then met the new doctor taking over the clinic. He made me feel very comfortable with the whole eye exam process. Dr. Lim was very knowledgeable and thoroughly checked my eyes using the latest technology. I left feeling like I got my money's worth and that my eyes were properly examined. The result was that I have a pair of very healthy eyes! Yes! That's always the best news to hear. This will definitely be my place to go for everything eye related. Great Doctor and the staff are very nice. They seem to be up on the technology for testing and are very thorough. The only reason for the 4* review is their assumption that I will be buying glasses and contacts from them and their prices are IMO not really competitive. After the test I'm asked how many boxes I want to order and I always have to ask for copies of my prescription instead of it being offered to me and it always feels like its inconvenient for them. read more

Always the best place to go. Dr. Peters has the latest state-of the-art instrumentation and has the experience to back it up. The staff has kept us in glasses now for over 15 years and we can always know that how complicated the task they are capable and understanding. The sunglasses with my prescription are great!
