I've been having headaches for as long as I can remember, and none of my Drs. could explain it. I've also been having difficulty driving at night. After seeing Dr. Senft, and having the laser treatment done, my headaches have subsided and it's a lot easier for me to drive at night. Wish I knew about this sooner. I've also told Dr. Senft about my grandma and how her eyes have been affecting her. My grams went in, had the laser done in one eye, found out she needed cataract surgery done on the other. After the surgery, my grams is much happier and very appreciative of what Dr. Senft and her staff has done. Just like any eye dr. the wait time for some patients is long, depends on what you're doing. However, they do let you know how long you may have to wait and they also offer coffee, tea, water and pastries while you wait.

I paid for an upgraded lens which was supposed to allow me to see without glasses. However, because they installed it in an incorrect position, it's totally useless and I have had to go back to wearing glasses. Dr. Safi stated to me that his colleague who performed the surgery had to guess at the placement and he guessed wrong! I have tried repeatedly to get a refund of the $2,000 that I paid for the Panoptic lens but they have been totally unresponsive. I have called many, many times and sent emails to no avail. My advice: spread the word that this group should not be trusted to do your cataract surgery.

Front desk told me 90 minutes. I waa upset that no one told me the length of the appt, the cost, or that they required a full eye exam. If my surgeon didnt require it why do they? Dr Wally at costco just completed my eye exam for under $150! They used all the sane technology. Next, they were 30 min late. They sat me in different rooms and my entire appt once started took 3 hours. I was furious to soend 1/2 my day there while my ride had to wait. The worst part of this visit was that I never saw one employee wash their hands or the equipment. They sat me in front of the machine and didnt clean it, we both left and I looked back and they sat the next person and no cleaning after me or hefore the next patient. The lady touched my eye with tool so yes my eye/chin touched a lot of parts. My hands touched items. Thank God I didnt catch pink eye. I would like to complain about 10 more items but I dont even want to waste another second on this office. Very sad and majorly ripped off. I never felt cared for at all.

I prefer to focus on the good, so I want to give a shout-out to Kenneth Ryfkogel, located in the Walmart Vision Center off of Henry St. in Kailua-Kona. It seems I routinely lose my vision insurance prior to my prescription expiring and this visit was no exception. Since we live in one of the most expensive places in the world (totally worth it, by the way), I have to be careful about what I spend. I called around and could not find a better price on the island (Dr. Ryfkogel was $100 less than Costco). Of course, one might assume that an "affordable" doctor might equate to sub-par care, but I found the complete opposite. Dr. Ryfkogel's staff (Skye in the front was exceptionally knowledgeable and professional) takes their job seriously. My appointment was on-time and the most thorough I've ever received. They didn't pressure me into taking expensive additional vision tests that I could not afford. Dr. Ryfkogel taught me so much about my eyes that I was unaware of before (i.e. pressing on my dry eyes slowly kills the nerves), so that I can be more pro-active in caring for a very important organ in my body....the eyes are the window to our soul, right? :) He explained everything as he was doing it, so I felt like I actually got to be a part of my own care. The only "down" side I can say about this physician is that I probably will never be able to prounounce his name, but I'll go ahead and give five stars anyway. ;) Mahalo Dr. Ryfkogel and staff. Following an evening of (number redacted) mai tais, my partner had a late night meeting with the hotel room door, which he had mistaken for the passageway to the bathroom. Not only were his glasses damaged, but he was seriously banged up! We saw that Eyewear Kona offered both repairs and same-day glasses with their in-house lab, so off we went to see Darcy. I was joking that she's never going to buy the old "I walked into a door" bit and would call the cops on me. She could not have been more helpful or kind, first checking the body damage in case he needed medical attention (he didn't); then getting the bent glasses as close as possible back to the original shape; and finally helping my partner find a new pair from their unique and stylish selection of frames. At the end of the same day, we were back for our new pair of glasses. A couple days later we returned for some adjustments, no problemo, and were even told that if there were further issues when we returned to the mainland, we could ship the frames back and they'd take care of them. I love the frames he selected and although I wouldn't wish the incident on him again, I'm glad it brought us to Eyewear Kona. It's like the new pair was meant to be. Thank you to Darcy and the team, and the mai tais that brought us together!

She did NOT treat me... after hours of waiting and being shuttled into different rooms. I was asked by multiple staff why I was there despite the fact she had reports from a referring biopsy that was done out of state. When she finally graced my with her presence and asked why I was there, I had lost all confidence- I told her I had already told 3 of her staff why and i had been there for hours. She got nasty with me and grabbed my arm ( while I'm sitting there with a paper gown on and had NEVER even met her).... I pulled my arm out of her grip, got dressed, left aas fast as I could, and never looked back!

Even when administering cryogenic therapy, she distracts me from feeling the stings by engaging in friendly conversation. I have had 3 skin cancers and she has made it a point to drop everything to provide same day treatment so I won't have to make another trip. I love this doctor and she has been my one constant for years. Other primary and specialist doctors have come and gone for various reasons, but she is still there for me. Mahalo nui Dr Joy.!
