FACT: I love my eye care center. I almost strayed away, simply because of their selection of glasses (they have lots, but not tons). I have a customer at the coffee shop who has his own optical place just across the parking lot. I heard he had a huge selection, so I gave it a shot. When I went in, the girl behind the desk knew who I was (I prepare her drink almost every day) and her customer service sucked. I wasn't expecting her to bend over backwards for me, but c'mon, I give her legendary customer service whenever she comes into MY store, the least she could have done was get off her high horse and acknowledge my presence. Psh, I hauled ass out of there! I told the doc next time he came in. I also told him that I paid cash for new Coach glasses at my place (take that, sucker!) FACT: The grass isn't greener on the other side. What Eyetopia lacks in eyeglass selection, they totally make up for with their amazing customer service. The girl behind the desk (I think her name is Amber) was also great. She gave me feedback on several different frames and helped me pick out the perfect pair. Dr. Dierdre Fogle is also amazing. I just had an ulcer in my cornea and she's in the process of fixin' me up. They totally have the small-town feel to their business, and that's what makes this Yelper happy. read more

Horrible experience!! Did everything possible to avoid giving me a copy of my prescription (which I didn't get). As with another review, tried to prescribe an expensive dry eye medication that I believe I don't need. Once my new glasses arrived, they didn't work, and her attitude was, too bad and offered me a refund, which she said she could not process until sometime later, or free up my insurance benefits, which she said could take 30 days. I definitely don't recommend this Optometrist. read more

We love Dr Fogel, but hate the way this business is now treating customers. They fortunately fired one problem employee, but still have another who is not customer friendly in my opinion. It is also VERY aggravating that Eyetopia started charging an additional 3% fee for patients who choose to pay by credit card. To add insult to injury, tried to order a pair of glasses today and told them we would just pay by check instead of being forced to pay the 3% credit card fee and was told no. Apparently they don't trust even long term customers enough to take their personal checks. Just ordered the glasses at another company instead that does NOT foolishly charge a 3% credit card fee. Customers do NOT like being nickel and dimed by businesses like this! As a result, we have decided to switch our business to another practice after having been patients at this location for years. read more

I have been going here for the past three years and have always had a wonderful experience. All of the staff is friendly and helpful. They recommend the best deal when using insurance and what will cost less out of pocket. They are not the cheapest ophthalmologists, but they are not overpriced either, IMHO. They also have a pretty decent frame selection as well. read more

The staff has always been so amazing and go above and beyond for me and my family. I have had 2 situations- a contact lens situation and currently am out of town when ordering for my son's glasses. They have been so amazing in problem solving and suggesting what to do to get the correct measurements for him from another place. I can not recommend this place to anyone in good faith. The staff are mostly unable to do their job. I had one girl who when i asked to replace my glasses screw that came out she replied with it will be hard because of my long finger nails. She in fact could not even do a simple task of putting in a screw because the business allows her to come to work with finger nails that prevent her from actually doing a good amount of her job. They will also lie and blame the disabled military veteran so that the employees can save themselves and the owner will call cops abd trespass you if you try and do a formal complaint against an employee. The owner is more than willing to cause emotional distress and defamation of character to a Disabled customer. I pray no one else gets treated like i was treated by them. read more

Horrible customer service! I had a contact fitting but due to dry eyes they couldn't fit do the exam. I came back weekly, for a couple months without any improvement or explanation/suggestions other than drops that just made it worse, paying for the exam each time since it was a medical issue, not covered by my eye insurance. Finally, 6 months later, after consulting with my medical doctor, the dry eye was resolved. I made an appointment for my contact fitting and the tried to change me a second time, (they hadn't been able to perform the exam the first time but still changed my insurance company so they wanted the full price of the appointment). They agreed they charged me for a service they didn't provide and did my contact fitting. I made an appointment for a month later to make sure the contacts were a good fit and they wanted to charge me for another medical visit which would have been the full cost of the exam. I paid the $25 for a missed appointment and left. read more

I have seen Dr Fogle for many years. She is the best and most competent doctor. I would highly recommend her. She is truly a caring person and always has a fun dad joke for me. One of the most poorly run eye shops I have ever experienced. The staff is terribly under trained and spent a great deal of time ridiculing one of their newer staff members (overweight girls will ridicule the new hire who is cute and thin...). A customer came in to pick up new glasses after an apparently long time of weeks and weeks. Yes the glasses were ordered incorrectly by one of the previously mentioned under trained staff. So he will have to wait again... I would not recommend this company at all!!! read more

Watch your wallet here. Minor temporary eye "plugs" that were supposed to be covered by insurance cost me $230. When I questioned the billing, they promptly told me I couldn't take the glasses I had just paid for in full ($320) until I paid another $190. The glasses took six weeks to come in--they told me 10 days. Horrible customer service. Steer clear of these guys...I'm going back to my other optician. read more

When I called today and told them about their second error, they suggested I go to another optometrist and request a third solution. Before I begin, I want to acknowledge this business has an "appointment only" policy that I was not aware of when I went in to purchase an pair of eyeglasses. I went to this establishment on the recommendation of my son who went in for a eye exam and was treated "very well". I showed up on Saturday the 25th of January with my daughter to look at their selection. When I walked in the door, I was met with disapproving looks that I did not know the reason for. After standing there looking at the eyeglass frame selection with my child for about 3 minutes I was asked if I had an appointment. I told the representative that I did not have an appointment and I was there on the recommendation of my son. She told me to sign in because they like to keep track of who comes in. I signed in and continued to look around. After making a pass around the entire shop, another lady asked if she could help me without leaving her chair. I told her I would like to order some glasses. She said they needed to see if the store took my insurance. I told her what it was and without looking at the computer, the receptionist gave me a VERY condescending "I'm sorry, we do not accept your insurance". I said, "Well I'm glad I found this out before I stayed in here too much longer." and I left. Funny thing is, that they did in fact take my insurance because that is what my son used to get his eye exam. I can only think of 2 reasons why I was treated this way. The first is the Eyetopia does not have time for walk in customers even if they want to give them money, or they do not like POC. Either way, it has been MANY years since I have been treated like I have a disease like this and the last time it happened was COMPLETELY racially motivated. After looking at some of the other reviews, it seems like this place is only for certain people, not my people. read more

By far the worst eye care I have ever received in my life! The doctor is very money hungry. She schedules appointments without even asking. It is very awkward. She has no personality. She charges 19.00 to teach you how to put contacts in! She charges an additional 50.00 for contact fitting. And the prices are very high. I would never recommend eyetopia to anyone. AWEFUL- I brought the whole family there and got glasses for us all. My step daughters mom brought her back after complaints she couldn't see with her new glasses. They saw her and referred her to a specialist and billed me for that visit without even telling us there was a fee. They sued me for a $60 co pay that I disputed for months and cost me over $700. The specialist told us they gave my step daughter the wrong prescription in the first place and we had to pay for a 2nd pair of glasses. I've never experienced such bad service, EVER. read more

The good - A nice selection of frames. The bad - Umm. What can I say. I personally did not have a warm fuzzy feeling from them. It did not seem they had my best interest in mind and only looked for ways to make more money. First they pushed options on the glasses I purchased which I said repeatedly I was not interested in. But what took it over the top was them (what I believe) selling my personal information to a laser vision center. I inquired about getting laser surgery and they were to provide ME the information to schedule the appointment. Two days later I get a call from the laser center looking to schedule an appointment. I thought it was weird. Then two weeks later I began getting mailings from the center. I did not appreciate them providing my personal information to the center and did not request it. It appears they get money for referrals to the center. There was just a string of things that happened and after thinking about it, I determined they did not truly have my best interest in mind. read more

Be careful with this place! They tried to push some dry eye plugs on me even though I never wanted them. Dr. Fogle was kept telling me I needed them but I didn't feel I had a dry eye problem. She informed me that it wont cost me that much because they bill my health insurance. Don't be scammed just use some eye drops! read more

My family and I have been seeing Dr. Fogle for about 9 years. She is very knowledgeable, I would say she is the most knowledgeable in her field we have ever met. She is very thorough, she doesn't forget any details, and checks multiple aspects. She has been great with all of our children as well, she can even work with baby's and toddlers. They all enjoy seeing her, and leave wanting to become eye doctors one day because she has been so good with them. She is patient and friendly. If you need a reliable Doctor she's the one! read more

Eyetopia has been my eyecare center for many years. And they were the ones who saved my eye when I had a retinal detachment. I called them and told them what was going on, and since I was out of town they told me to get to an optometrist right away. I called one, they said I could get an appointment later, so I called eyetopia back and they told me to tell the other one what my symptoms were, so they (the other guys) took me right in, diagnosed a retinal detachment (finally) and sent me to a specialist. If it hadn't been for eyetopia I'd now be blind in one eye. Thanks eyetopia, you guys are the best. Looking forward to a new pair of glasses as soon as I can get in to see ya. read more

I was not impressed. I tried this business out because my insurance changed. I thought the office staff rude. I liked Dr. Fogle a lot but I wasn't impressed by the opticians or office staff. It's very disappointing when you have a decent doctor, yet are forced to deal with rude, ignorant and incompetent staff. I went to Eyetopia simply because of my insurance, and it was a disaster right off the bat. Somehow my glasses were lost, and I had to follow-up on it after a month. Then, the lenses scratched after 2 weeks and I was told they would not do anything to fix it. A staff member identifying herself as "Sally" was rude and blunt over the phone and with email. After I moved, I simply wanted to transfer the records to my new eye doctor. This took several calls and reminder emails, only to receive extremely unprofessional responses from this "Sally." It was as if they deliberately treated me badly because I was no longer using Eyetopia. This, after the endless screw-ups on their end. The doctor is doing herself a disservice by having such a terrible staff. read more

Wanted to love this place, its right around the corner and locally owned. HOWEVER, I had appointments set up for myself and my son. We received a phone call confirming the appointments, we showed up for the appointments and we were told we showed up at the wrong time on the wrong day. Thought this was a little bizarre because I rechecked voicemail and confirmed I had showed up on the right date at the right time. Not worth debating with the staff, they seemed very indifferent. Unfortunately, I had an awful experience at Eyetopia. The store and exam room were very dirty. I was on time for my appointment, but they made me wait 45 minutes beyond my appointment time before I was seen even though I was apparently the only customer in the waiting room. The personnel were very pushy about making follow up appointments for me. They even went so far as to check who else was covered under my insurance before I even showed up for my appointment and tried to have me make appointments for them as well. Then, when there was a question about what my insurance covered, they threatened to send me to small claims court - less than 30 days after I received the very first invoice. I also observed another customer coming in to complain about his contacts order not being filled on time. I will not go back. read more

I went in for an eye exam a few weeks ago. I have never been diagnosed with dry eye, and I get regular eye exams. Dr. Fogle said that I had such dry eye, that I would need to have plugs put in my eyes immediately. She whipped out this form that detailed the process (seemed like she had done that often) and informed me it would only cost $1200. I felt uncomfortable with the diagnoses, so I got a second opnion. The other doctor I went to said my eyes were no more dry than anyone else living in Colorado and that plugs was a drastic suggestion for such a mild condition. Dr. Fogle is just trying to make a buck!! Also they billed me for a contact exam when I did not receive one. I will not be back, and neither will my friends or family. read more

I totally agree with Chelsea A. The doctor here charges for every single service (eye exam and contact fittings charged separately). I had my glasses done at Costco based on her prescription. One side was slightly blurry and I came back to have her check my glasses: she charged me $39 for this and her attitude was as if she was doing a favor to me. The staff here also sucks. No customer service whatsoever. They apparently don't care about repeat customers. I will definitely not come back here. read more

I bought a pair of sunglasses here for $178. Afterwards I went home and found that I could buy the same pair online for $95!! I went back to return the ones I had bought and they wouldn't take a return. They said their policy was on their receipt but it was not. They also said it was posted at their counter but they didn't check me out at the counter. They were very rude. Poor customer service. I also saw another pair of sunglasses that they sold for $238 that I saw online at Zappos for $100! Thank goodness I didn't buy these. I like to support local businesses, but not when they are ripping off the community. Do your research before buying! read more

BEWARE! Several years ago she told me that I needed to have plugs put into my tear ducts to help keep my eyes from getting dry. She performed the procedure without checking if my insurance would cover it and as it turned out, they did not (it did not work, by the way). My recollection is that the she charged about $1200 for the simple 5 minute procedure and she told me it was my responsibility to contact the insurance company to see if there was coverage. I actually took her to court over it, and we ended up settling, because she brought along a lawyer relative (husband or brother). It certainly has opened my eyes (no pun intended) to having to totally take control of your own healthcare and insurance coverage! read more

Dr. Fogle is very through with her examination and takes the time necessary to get the prescription right which with lenses for both nearsightednessa and farsightedness in one pair can be difficult. The frame selection is not the broadest but the customer care and expertise and patience that Dr. Fogle gives is. It is about getting the best sight possible. read more

Been going to Eyetopia for years but things changed when they moved to their new location on Broadway. The last time I was there was a fiasco. I was told by Dr. Fogle that I needed eye plugs (read all the comments on here. A lot of people told the same thing) but not to worry because my medical insurance would pay for it. I said no. She also told me I had an ulcer on my right eye and needed to go get a prescription for eye drops right away and scheduled a follow up visit for the following week. When I got there, sh looked at my eyes and said they were doing better and to come back the following week. At checkout they asked me for my $40 medical insurance co pay. I told them NO and that I needed to check into it. I called for my eye prescription and was told they needed to make sure my eye was better before they would give me the Rx and scheduled me for later in the day. When I arrived I was told I needed to pay the $40 co pay froom my last visit and another $40 co pay for this visit. Wanting to get my prescription, I paid them and the Dr. gave me a clean bill of health and my Rx but told me I needed to come back in 4 weeks to make sure everything was still okay. I ran away as fast as I could!! She's VERY money hungry and has come up ith creative ways of bilking people and insurance companies out of a lot of money. Oh, one more. She automatically scheduled my kids for their annual exam in April, 2013. When they called to confirm, we CANCELLED the appointments. They charged my insurance company anyway and now we can't get eye care until April 2014 because the insurance for the next 12 months was expended. STAY FAR AWAY. If you DO go and she recommends anything other that contacts or glasses, decline and get a second opinion. read more

Would never recommend! Dr. Fogle spends more time checking blood pressure on a 14 year old (it's a silent killer...) than she does talking about eyes. Very money hungry. They wanted us to spend over $800 for a test that we get at our new eye dr for free simply because they have to have this machine brought in to their office. The front desk staff whisper even when there's no one else in the office and it's difficult to hear them. Worst part of our two year experience with this office was trying to get glasses and contacts. One pair of glasses took a month to get. For contacts, they forgot to order mine one time. Three months later and I still didn't have them. Had to call and ask them what was going on and they said they never got ordered. Took another week to get them in. They schedule appts without asking and with 5 people in our family and 5 different schedules, that's a big inconvenience. When we moved to our new eye doctor, they sent a fax for the records. Never received them. A month later when we were in again the new place called Eyetopia wondering what happened. It took two phone calls and a fax over a period of a month to get our medical records. Stay far away! There are much better quality eye doctors in the area. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Fogle's 8 years ago and lost contact with her after she moved on from that practice (who was not cooperative in telling me where she had relocated to). I searched online for sometime to no avail so I've been putting up with poor eye care ever since. Last month, I was looking at my list of approved providers from my insurance company and there she was, Dr. Fogle lives! I was estatic to find her because she was the best eye doctor I have ever had. She is both friendly and a high caliber professional who is interested in your overall eye health as well as quality of vision. She always "nails" my prescription and surrounds herself with a friendly staff that is skilled in filling her RX. While the selection of eye wear is not extensive, I did find a sweet pair of glasses. The staff was extremely helpful and patient with me while I seached for that perfect look and fit. I highly recommend Dr. Fogle and her talented staff. read more

After the exam I asked for my prescription so I could order my contacts online. She said she would price match if I orderred from her, and I said I get them for $29/box (she charged $38/box), She said "That doesn't sound right.... way too cheap". I pulled it up on my phone and showed her the price,, and she said, "well I need to talk with my vendor but I'll price match this time". THEN i tried to ordera few months later through an online vendor, but my order was declined becuase this doctor WOULD NOT approve the script, even though it was good for another 7 months. I called her and she didn't approve it becuase I had "eye damage and needed to come in for another eye and contact exam". REALLY? Why didn't you tell me of this 'eye damage' at my appointment, and give me a prescription for a full year? She said she called my insurance and got it approved and that I could reorder the cotnacts through her after another exam. This just seems money hungry, and I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more
