If I could leave zero stars in a review I would. I was referred by my dad who had a good experience. The front office was the only saving grace. My old dr of 30years retired and I needed a new place. When I scheduled, and asked if they'd like my records, I was told, "no, we're fine." When I arrived, I felt that I was irritating Dr. Shimonova. When I returned a few weeks later, my glasses were unwearable as the rx was not right. Went back a 2nd time, was told by Dr. Shmonova that "That's what you said you wanted." When they looked at my current glasses, it was found that the 2 scripts were miles apart. She just kept repeating "that's what you wanted." I came back for the remake a few weeks later and they were STILL WRONG! I asked for another Dr. I also brought my medical records with me. Dr. Thompson took time to meet with me and review my records. She made some adjustments. I came back and they were finally correct. It took 3 attempts and almost 3 months to get my glasses. I'm finding someplace new and my dad won't be back either. read more

I've been a customer of Eyecare Consultants for over 13 years. I brought my children here since they were toddlers. For more than a decade, I trusted this place with my family's vision care -- but the way this business operates now is absolutely unacceptable. The office manager, who proudly claims she has "run this place for 26 years," is the biggest problem. If that's true, then she deserves full credit for dragging this business straight into the ground. Her behavior has been dishonest, manipulative, and shockingly unprofessional. There is a constant revolving door of physicians -- most lasting barely a year -- which has led to inconsistent and careless care. That's exactly how my daughter, who has 20/20 vision, ended up with a completely incorrect prescription of +2.75. I paid over $700 out of pocket for glasses and contacts, and all I received was a $100 contact credit. The rest? Gone. When I brought the issue back to them, the excuses were all over the place. A voicemail from the business on May 16 clearly stated the glasses were dropped off that day and they'd like to discuss a credit to the account. Later, on 12/22/2025, the manager tried to claim they had been sitting on her desk for years. The story changed every time I asked a question. Then came the most unbelievable part: the manager tried to convince me that I had given consent to donate my own property. She looked me straight in the eye and lied to my face. She refused to reimburse or credit my account, even after admitting the prescription was wrong. Instead, she took the glasses back under the pretense of "donations," then conveniently claimed they don't provide donation slips -- even for brand-new glasses I paid for. The reality is likely they sold them. When I expressed how unacceptable this was, she told me she didn't care about losing customers. That tells you everything you need to know about how this place is run. And let's talk about pricing: you can buy the exact same products at Costco for a fraction of the cost -- literally 1/15 of what Eyecare Consultants charges -- and still use your VSP benefits. The markup here is outrageous, and the service doesn't justify a single dollar of it. After 13 years of loyalty, I'm done. Between the dishonesty, the inflated prices, the refusal to take responsibility, and the constant turnover of physicians, this place has become a perfect example of how a business collapses under bad leadership. read more

THEY WOULD "TYPICALLY" CHARGE A RESTOCKING FEE WHEN THEY ORDER THE WRONG LENSES?!? I don't know what I was thinking. I decided to give the glasses shop another try since I wanted to change my lenses to single vision. It was simple: Please order the same lenses you ordered last October, but make them single vision. Two weeks? OK. Two weeks later my wife called them. The lenses had come in the day before, but they hadn't called yet. This was a Friday, wonder if they were going to wait until the following week?? Went in Saturday to have the lenses put in my frames. Waited an hour. . Interestingly there as another woman there who they had even indicated we were "behind". After 20 minutes she asked the person at the front desk how many opticians were working. She said she would go check and went in the back. She came back and said there are two. The other optician then came out to help the woman. What was going on for at least 20 minutes? I had only seen one optician while we were there. So this other one was just hanging out in the back and no one told her there was a customer waiting? After an hour my lenses were in my frames. Problem. The lenses were at least 50% thicker. AND had polished edges. I pointed this out and the optician looked at them and then looked in the computer and found that they were not the high index lenses like the originals. So the wrong lenses were ordered. Simply said I wanted to cancel the order and take my prescription elsewhere. Done. Went to VisionWorks with my prescription. Took 9 days for the refund to be processed. This office is an absolute mess. UPDATE (8/22/2019): Jodie, the office manager, called and left a voicemail indicating she had processed the refund on 8/12 (refund was requested by me on 8/3. She made sure to tell me, get this, "I did process a full refund, didn't even charge you a restocking fee, which we typically need to do". SERIOUSLY?!? A restocking fee?? THEY ordered the wrong lenses. Their optician even admitted this. When she first looked up the order she even said "why'd we order the 'some ID number' lenses?" And then apologized to me. They simply had to order the SAME lenses I already have just in single vision. That was the instruction. But I guess their policy would "typically" be to charge the customer a restocking fee when THEY make a mistake? I really like my eye doctor and was going to keep coming here for that purpose, I also like the Optomap, but now I think I am going to find a different doctor as well. Jodie even requested that I call her back, which I did at 2:53 PM. She was not available and I was told she would call me back. She hasn't. So surprised. The front desk staff is friendly however the service I've received here is lacking. I recently needed a new pair of glasses so I called in an order to just get the exact same pair I had gotten the year before. I figured this would be easy enough. When I called in the order I was told I should receive the glasses in 7 to 10 business days. After 11 business days, I finally called and they said they I should receive a call by Friday. Friday came and by 2 PM I was concerned I was going to have to go another weekend without glasses. I called again and was told there were in but they needed another half an hour. I finally got them but it took 14 business days total and I had to do multiple follow up calls. Also, I saw other reviews mention this but glasses here are expensive! I have vision insurance and they were still $300+. Maybe I just got spoiled with Warby Parker glasses which are only $100 total. I thought ordering from down the street would mean I would receive my glasses sooner which is the whole reason I ordered from here but sadly this was not the case. read more

Their eye glasses are expensive but they have trunk shows too. Ask for when those are and mark them on your calendar. Snotty SNOTTY OFFICE STAFF. Intrusive and unnecessary paperwork. Inappropriate demands for medical insurance and other info. Have previously gone to them for eye exams and glasses/contacts. The Dr. I saw there has retired. I went back despite reservations because they have my previous retinal scans. Won't be back. Walked in to a (snotty) demand for my medical insurance information from the front office staff, which doesn't apply because, like most people, I don't have vision benefits. Insisted and then asked who my insurance company was. For what reason, again? No explanation. Why exactly are you wanting my medical insurance information for an eye exam and why will you not disclose any concrete reason? Intake form, for other information that hasn't changed, because I'm an existing patient, is shoved in my face. You need my spouse's employer because? You need a 12 page medical questionnaire because? I'm here for an eye exam, not surgery. Have had hassles with them in the past about giving me my Rx to order contacts or get glasses if I wasn't purchasing from them. I have been calling Eyecare Consultants and their out of state biller Kayla for 5 weeks now and have made a total of 8+ calls to them to simply ask why my eye exam was billed as non-routine instead of routine. (Insurance will cover routine eye exams but not non-routine exams.) Despite 5+ calls to Kayla she has never once called me back. I have also spoken with Jan 3+ times and she continues to say that her bosses will call me back. Never happens. I don't think I can go back here if this is really the kind of hassle I have to go through to get a simple billing question answered. For the many years I have been a customer at Eye Care Consultants I have never had anything but awesome things to say. Each time I make an appointment I have such a great experience that I now live an hour away and still continue to choose them. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable, professional and courteous. Sam, Stacy and Heidi are just a few of the friendly customer service specialists that you might have the pleasure of dealing with. They helped me choose great glasses and contacts. Contacts were a very hard decision for me and everyone was beyond patient as I tried different brands until I found what worked for me. Perhaps most importantly, I cannot say enough wonderful things about the doctors at Eye Care Consultants. The doctors take the time with me during every appointment I make. I never feel rushed or like I'm part of an assembly line. They care about your concerns and answer questions in detail. It's definitely not service that can be duplicated by any other eye care facility. I would absolutely recommend Eye Care Consultants to my family, friends and even strangers like yourself! Who would think you need to bring your lawyer with you when you go get a pair of glasses? Well I needed one! I went in here because it was an in-network provider so I assumed I could get a pair of benefit covered eyeglasses. Wrong! You walk in the door and they say "Sign this." referring to some laminate taped to their counter that has a place for a signature that wipes off.. So I sign it thinking its simple sign-in sheet or something and they wipe away my signature, but only after photocopying it. Well this thing turns out to be a contract obligating you to pay for mandatory extra examinations that are not covered by your vision benefit and are above and beyond what other optometrists would require for a simple pair of glasses. Also, my benefit allowed $130 for frames but they didn't have a single pair of frames anywhere close to that price. So this is the wrong place to go if you want a simple pair of benefit covered glasses. If you decide to go anyway, read everything carefully before signing or better yet bring your lawyer along so he can review the contract before you end up signing away a weeks worth of groceries and leaving empty handed as I did. The fact that they make you sign a contract at all should be a red flag that something isn't right. Seriously, what kind of medical care provider does that? read more

I had an appointment this morning with Dr. Jessica Colpitt, OD. I arrived early and had already printed the forms from their website and filled them out. Check-in was quick and, unfortunately, so was the wait (HGTV's Fixer Upper was on the TV in the waiting area - love that show!) Jenn/Jenny (the tech) was very professional. She explained all of the tests she ran, answered my questions, and was just generally very nice. When she was done, I waited only a couple minutes before Dr. Colpitt came in. She, too, was very professional but very nice. I'm a HUGE proponent of doctors with great bedside manners, regardless of their practice, and these people really embody that. Dr. Colpitt ran her tests, discussed my vision issues and other medical issues I might be facing that show as a result of the eye tests. She's very knowledgeable, very thorough, and explains things in a clear and concise manner. She even laughed at my sadly lack-luster jokes, which made me feel very comfortable and her seem very approachable. Then, when I went to pick out some new frames, a sales rep. assisted me. I believe her name was Stacy, though I'm not absolutely sure. She, too, was very nice, very helpful, and when I'd chosen my frames, she and Dr. Colpitt took a look at them and gave me their honest opinions about how they looked on me. Meanwhile, I'm hearing the other customers compliment the staff up one side and down the other. Even on my first visit, it's clear to me that these people are kind, compassionate, and treat their customers like family. I couldn't be more impressed. read more

I've contemplated not going here anymore for the last year and after my last visit I've decided it's finally time to go somewhere else. Every single time I come in or call, the office staff makes me feel like I'm inconveniencing them. Whether it's for an appointment, paying a bill, or ordering contacts, they are rude and completely fail to understand that they are working with a paying customer. At the end of a conversation, I'm the only one to say thank you and they often don't even respond. If I ask them any sort of question, they get offended and moody. I leave this office frustrated and insulted every single time. It's too bad that I can't continue to go to a place with good doctors simply because I feel so disrespected by the staff after every appointment. read more

Well I'm sad to write a bad review for this business as there were a number of highlights. Bill start with those. Sue, the lady at the front is great! Very friendly, attentive, and organized! The were completely booked a month in advance and she called me as soon as there was a cancellation! The Dr. That I worked with was great as well. I don't remember her name but she was fast, friendly, and very patient with my questions. The sales lady, I also forgot her name, was friendly and quirky :) the reason for the 2 stars is because at the end of my visit there, after paying, she quoted me 2 weeks for pick up which falls right around today. At that time I asked her if they take special requests and she responded with, "yes, when were you hoping?". I then explained that my birthday was December 28th and I'd be taking a trip to Vegas, I'd love to have them for the trip! She replied that this should not be a problem, even considering the holidays. I was ecstatic! I couldn't believe how easy and accommodating they are! Well, that was until I called in on the 26th to here that the lenses hadn't even arrived. The lady, I think her name was Heidi, had no sense of urgency and appeared to be non-sensitive to the situation at all! These are the types of things that separate the amazing experiences from the average or dismal ones. Don't expect anything past the regular LensCrafters from these guys. The reason for a below average rating is because they set my expectation then didn't deliver! Maybe I'm being too hard on them but they have no idea how disappointing it was to be let down by them. read more

I hadn't been to an eye doctor in years but decided to go since I had been experiencing headaches and thought it may have something to do with my vision. I went for an exam and the eye doctor was fantastic, I don't remember his name but he did a really great job with making the exam comfortable and quick for me. It took me a couple months after my exam to pick out frames, I went to a couple other stores to look around and then decided to go back to make a choice. I didn't have anyone go with me, which was probably my bad when I ended up with frames that I didn't like. I would have rated them higher because I really like the store, they have a nice variety of frames, I just didn't feel that they helped me pick out a good style, when I picked up my frames the man who adjusted them assured me they looked "GREAT" and then when I went back to work the truth came out. Shame on me for not taking someone I trusted with me to give me solid advice on what looks good, now I'm stuck with a pair of frames until my insurance renews next year. Dr Bill Breen is the only reason I came to this location. I've known him as a friend, neighbor, and primary eye doctor since the very early 80's and won't trust my eyes to anyone but him. In this instance, I didn't visit Dr. Breen but rather to get a frame replaced under warranty. The office staff was courteous and friendly when I walked in and the Optician was professional and very helpful. The frame actually arrived before they said it would too. This was my first trip to Vision Source and I was very satisfied. I was able to schedule an appointment easily, and I found the front desk staff to be friendly and helpful. I did not have a long wait, and found the "pre-exam" tests to be run very efficiently. I also liked the fact that I could choose to take advantage of new technology (for a little more money) that would give the doctor the information he needed without having to dilate my eyes. I have been coming here for years, usually seeing Dr. Alevras-Sztukowski. She is very knowledgeable, professional, and personable, and inspires a lot of confidence. She always takes the time to discuss any concerns I have; give advice about taking care of my eyes; and let me know about different alternatives (contact lens types, Lasik, etc.) that are available. She always is familiar with my medical history and the results of prior examinations, etc. All in all, a terrific doctor. I also saw Dr. Colpitt recently and had a similar experience. Last but not least, the staff are extremely friendly, professional, and efficient in handling appointment scheduling, insurance, the initial part of the exam, etc. All in all, highly recommended! read more

Just okay. The ophthalmologist I saw was super nice, but picking up my glasses has been a pain in the ass. I got an email and text saying they were ready to pick up. When I got to the office I had to wait 25 minutes just to pick them up. Then after waiting 25 minutes a staff member told me they had only received one lens. Crazy, because my eyes have the same prescription... Super frustrating to have to wait that long for nothing and now I have to go back. Huge waste of time! read more

The office folks used to be phenomenal and made all the little extra charges for "full service" eye tests that my insurance didn't cover and unbelievably high priced glasses frames almost acceptable. Now in the last 2 years, I find they have gone down hill. They lose my contacts orders, mix them up (last 2 years i was there 8 times to straighten this out), don't communicate my messages to the doctor. I had a gal "tighten up" my glasses frames and she put it on the "face former" machine - well I have astigmatism and that completely jacked with my vision. My doc is ok, but I feel like she doesn't listen to me about my vision needs. On top of it all, I find it irritating that they close the entire office for 1.5hrs every day for lunch. That's usually the only time I'm able to call. Sue who was at the front desk and is now retired, really made this place amazing. Now that she's gone, I sadly feel I can get mediocre service anywhere else. Sorry to say. read more
