On one occasion, they placed their ladder directly against my new gutters, scraping the paint, and later had to return to touch up the damage. I don't want to have to micromanage the work; I expect the job to be completed properly the first time. Their "checklist" is dishonest; this year, it's taken 3 separate visits to clean out the downspouts. I've also learned they didn't clean out my gutters with a leaf-guard like screens, so I have gutters with four years of packed debris. I feel misled by Valentine Roofing.

There is still a disagreement as to the aesthetic of the work, but I definitely appreciate the willingness to listen and attempt to correct. Valentine dumps a hefty amount of its resources into advertising "quality work" boasting being voted the "Best in the PNW" by the Seattle Times and getting a "Super Service Award" by Angi to get consumers, like me, to take a second look at it when it comes time for roof work. While I very much would've liked to have paid for the work advertised, I didn't. We signed the contract four months before the actual work started. The estimator was very likeable, down to earth, and addressed all questions we had. We asked for the estimate to include all possible costs so we could budget accordingly. He agreed and provided us an estimate that we thought was the "worst case scenario" number. We felt at ease. We felt we went with a contractor that wasn't cheap, but one we felt could provide quality work that was done with care. Four months later the work began. Instead of working with the estimator, we now have a project manager that is our point of contact. Day one, we're told our "worst case scenario" number wasn't actually the worst case... we were now told it's $3k more than we thought we'd owe, at most. Not the best news to get the first day and frustrating after having a candid conversation about surprise charges. During the first few days of the work, our project manager was unreachable for multiple hours at a time while the work was happening. The weather was not great and there was intermittent rainfall during the first week of work. We had concerns of water intrusion, runoff not being drained properly, and the roof being exposed. Our gutters were torn off and the fascia exposed. We were told that everything would be put back together once the roof was done. When the rain wouldn't let up, and we noticed the water not draining properly, we continued to contact the PM. We were told everything was protected. It wasn't until we showed photos and videos of the issues we saw that anything was actually done. The second half of the job went better in terms of communication, but we still had concerns about the aesthetic of the roof, but gave them the benefit of the doubt until the job was done before addressing the concern, again. The roof work finished. Not being a roof expert, I can't speak to the durability of the roof nor can I address leak prevention, but I can say it looks terrible and sloppy. Our roof looks worse than it did before they started. The gutters were initially reattached incorrectly, the flashing wasn't cut to the correct length on multiple areas causing an overlap with the flashing attachment. When this was brought up, we were met with a slight openness to address our issues, but ultimately half-assed, semi fixes and ignoring the majority of our complaints was the final result. If we would've selected a roofer that claimed to have the cheapest price and the quickest turnaround, I think this outcome would be more understandable. We didn't do that. We thought we were paying for quality. For a company that leans so heavy into advertising as being the best, we really expected more

They came out and started masking but had to hold off to start spraying because of cold weather. They ran into issues with broken spray equipment running out of foam blah blah blah. The owner is really good at making excuses for his short falls. I get people have things come up and delays happen. (I own a remodel company ) These guys had every excuse in the book. To top it off one night they were working late and the gun was not working but his daughter continued to spray and ruin nearly the entire place. And spray foam on floor, windows, door frames all over everything. After this they had to grind out all the bad foam and then respray. This was another head ache. Guys show up and the no one then I am promised a full crew then one person showed up. Then during the grind out they ground into electrical wires and telecommunication wire. I am not talki one or two. Try 7 separate circuits multiple time and 3 communication wires. Given the wiring is behind spray foam, this was a major problem. They also made a huge mess of the site, all in all I had to fire them and kick them off the property after 5 weeks of back and forth. I also had to file and insurance claim against JCL due to the massive amount of damages and clean up. They ruined brand new sliders and sprayed foam all over shower valves toiles and custom glass. THIS COMPANY TOOK ZERO CARE IN MY PROJECT THAT I HAVE PUT MY HEART AND SOUL INTO. RUN RUN RUN!

Alex and a helper whose name I didn't write down came out and did our crawlspace over the course of a day. It was sprayed beautifully, and our floors have never so comfortable to walk on. It also quieted down a few creaks which was a nice surprise we didn't expect. Recently Sean and another worker came out and removed existing loose rockwool and fiberglass batts from our attic. A week or so later Nicole and Sean came out and installed spray foam insulation on the underside of our roof deck and the gable walls. They had to install this around a full heat exchanger and ducting setup which had been installed, and I'm extremely impressed that they were able to do such a great job given some of the tight spaces up there.

I called 'Gale' three times (over a week) and left voicemails explaining that I wanted lines run to our kitchen stove and laundry room dryer. Carla finally called back, leaving a message that they "don't do fireplaces". I called her back and explained this was for kitchen and laundry, not fireplace. She said, "We don't do that either." I asked, "...in other words, you don't install propane lines at all? ...because Wenatchee Petrol... ..." ... [click] ...Carla hung up on me in the middle of my question! Ok, Now I Get It! 'Gale' serves contractors, not individual home owners. They've learned over time that individuals are not their target clients. Consequently, they don't have to be responsive or courteous to "individuals". Duly noted forever! My next call is to Wenatchee Petroleum, to take 'Gale' off their list of recommended installers.

Ours was a custom door situation, but were told by Gale that the install date would be Dec. 2, 2023. Months went by and nothing. We kept being told "doors should be in next week"....how many times we heard that???, far too many. We spoke with our sales representative then his boss. Everyone we talked to was so passive about the situation. In the meantime weather had set in, this is new construction so without garage doors the interior of the house is essentially exposed. We put tarps up but they were ripped off many times from the wind. They installed the doors, finally, this summer (about 8-9 months after promised install date). However, the first install was incorrect. Very long story short....here we are October 15, 2024 and it still isn't right. They have also now put screws into drywall that weren't supposed to be there because of the incorrect installation. This has been quite a nightmare. We will never use Gale Contracting again. The crazy thing is, the day of the install they want payment, yet we are forced to wait and wait and wait and still waiting for proper install. Very unprofessional.

They were friendly, professional, and clearly took pride in doing quality work. When you're investing this much money in your home, trust matters. We've spent about $60,000 with As You Wish over the years, and I appreciate that they have employees who genuinely care about their customers. I'd be happy to work with them again. Tessa, at the office, texted me to confirm my appointment time and included a photo of Rich, my service technician. Rich was fantastic. He showed up on time, was extremely knowledgeable and very communicative. As expected, after his very comprehensive inspection and testing of my Furnace and A/C some serious issues were found. The 20 year old furnace had a crack in the heat exchanger, which Rich showed me on his camera. The 30 year old A/C had lost a significant amount of its effectiveness to cool my home and was wasting a lot of energy. Rich was there almost 2 hours and I got all this at an amazing special price of $29! He asked me if I wanted someone to come out and give me a free estimate to replace my furnace and A/C, and had the office schedule someone to come out when I returned from my upcoming trip. Two weeks later Dan Severt showed up on time to take measurements and collect the information needed to properly size the new systems I needed and provided me with a detailed estimate. He explained my options, explained the installation process, and covered possible financing options. As it was possible for me to get a loan through GreenSky to make monthly payments with no penalty for early payoff and no interest if paid in full within 18 months, I decided to proceed. Dan called the office to schedule the install for me and got me started with the GreenSky loan process. A short while later, Tessa texted me information about my install to begin the very next day. Later Tessa sent me a text to confirm my appointment and included photos of the technicians that would be coming. Next day she texted me that they were on their way and included a tracking link so I could monitor their progress. Technicians Obet and Cody arrived to begin the installation. As is usually the case with 40+ year old homes, and today's updated building codes and newer, more complicated "smart" systems, a few issues popped up. At all times the guys kept me informed of the issues, explained what my options were, and then executed the necessary workarounds. Dan also made himself available to come by personally to see the issues for himself and answer any questions I had and offer advice when asked. A short while later, a highly experienced Carlos arrived to assist the guys with problem resolution. They guys worked really hard from 9am to 10pm in order to complete their job for the electrician coming the next day. They cleaned up the job site and hauled away the old units. Meanwhile, back at the office, Sarah who had processed the necessary permit(s) texted me that she had made arrangements for the two required inspections, one for the electrical work and the other for Snohomish County building code adherence. She informed me that those two entities would reach out to me to set things up. Later I received a text that the electrician, Fredo, would arrive early the next morning. Fredo showed up on time and completed the electrical work in time for Benjamin to arrive. Benjamin completed a checkout, testing and startup of the system and demonstrated how to program the new smart thermostat. All worked perfectly. Without exception, everyone involved was timely, possessed excellent communication skills, was organized and highly skilled at their respective jobs. All of them were positive and courteous and respectful of me and my property. This was, by far, one of the best experiences I've ever had in a job requiring skilled labor! Kudos to As You Wish for having quality people and using quality suppliers for their HVAC systems! I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to invest in updating their systems, or in having them inspect and service their existing equipment. Ordinarily I would have sought out multiple estimates before hiring someone to do such a big job. I have no idea how the cost for As You Wish to do this job compares to the numerous other competitors in this sector, but I'm kind of glad I didn't. Otherwise I may have gone with someone cheaper, who knows? But one thing I know for sure is that I couldn't have found anyone better!
