This gym was my go-to, even before while it was still owned by Golds Gym. The community is clockwork: the morning rush around 7am, the packed gym classes with older folks towards 1pm, the overly crowded and dreaded 5-7pm timeframe where people are lining up for machines. I have been a member of this gym location for around 5 years (since it was Gold's Gym) and not only has nothing changed, it's gotten worse. Even under Gold's machines were constantly broken, weights were disorganized and all over the place, and locker room amenities were frequently out of order. What kept me at this gym was the location, as it's only 5 minutes away from my house. When EOS took over I was hopeful that this location would get much needed work done, but that really hasn't been the case. Instead, machines remain old, and poorly taken care of. Somehow, whenever I visit multiple machines are down, or missing parts, or have loose cables. If something gets fixed it doesn't remain fixed for long and this definitely impacts the average customer's workout. This location can get insanely crowded (often with large groups of middle/high schoolers) and the less equipment available, the longer you have to wait to get your workout done. It is frustrating having to search for working equipment, and what is working is in very poor condition. It's not that I haven't given this feedback to gym management before. They used to frequently reach out and ask about the experience. Despite constantly giving the same feedback and constantly being told "they're working on improving" nothing actually changes. Instead more machines than ever are out of order or damaged in some way (missing pieces, unreadable weight markings, etc.) It seems like they don't care because they actually don't. Since my membership was converted to EOS, I now have the opportunity to visit the other Fullerton location down Chapman. That location is also frequently crowded (and has similar crowds to the Malvern location,) yet somehow their equipment is far newer and in far better shape. In fact they're even open 24 hours so I would assume their equipment is used even more frequently. Newer gym or not, this location could also put the effort into making sure more of its equipment is in top shape, but they don't. Things go broken for days (or weeks) and they're never in a rush to correct it. Now to their credit they have added new things to the gym. The escape room (that no one uses because it's only available to their highest tier membership) and the cardio cinema they converted to a leg room full of brand new equipment (they recently added an unnecessary door to this room so I'm curious if they're gonna put that behind a paywall too.) These additions do little to improve your workout when all the core equipment is in such a sad state. I would not recommend EOS fitness in general, but I would certainly not recommend this location as your main gym. If you want a crowded, subpar experience with limited hours, this might work for you, but there are so many better options from cheaper gym chains. I come to this location less and less, and my most recent visit is probably gonna keep me away much longer. Until the management is changed up or someone decides to actually care about the experience, I don't think it's gonna get any better. read more

Cerritos sauna down. Fullerton (Malvern) down. Hawaiian Gardens has plastic seating so it's out in my option. Don't want to breathe in plastics. read more

They have unfinished and unsafe jobs and investing in unnecessary lighting when they should be investing in repairing damaged equipment. They have also closed off areas that were open to members to make them more exclusive to members who pay for a more expensive membership. Really considering changing gyms. read more

I have been a member of this gym for more than 16 years, going back to when this location was Gold's Gym. Unfortunately, I am extremely disappointed with the way EOS Fitness has handled the transition and my existing membership. When EOS fully took over the former Gold's Gym, changes were made to my membership privileges without clearly communicating those changes to me. I had access to certain areas of the gym under my previous membership, but EOS later restricted that access and now expects me to change my membership arrangement in order to regain privileges I previously had. What makes this even more frustrating is that I currently pay approximately $35 per month, while EOS offers memberships around $29 per month that include access to privileges and areas that are now restricted from me. How does it make sense for a longtime member who pays more every month to receive fewer privileges? There is also a serious space and equipment issue at the Fullerton location. This is not a particularly large gym, yet two rooms containing equipment are now restricted to certain membership levels. As a result, the rest of the members have fewer machines available, especially for leg workouts. With the number of people who use this gym, the equipment available in the unrestricted areas is simply not enough during busy hours. After more than 16 years of loyalty to this gym, I expected my existing membership and privileges to be handled with much more respect. If EOS was going to change the terms or privileges of memberships inherited from Gold's Gym, those changes should have been clearly communicated to longtime members instead of simply restricting access afterward. I hope EOS management reviews this situation and finds a fair solution for longtime members. Customers who have supported this location for many years should not end up paying more while receiving fewer benefits. read more

First, cleanliness needs to be addressed immediately. The restrooms and workout areas should be cleaned regularly throughout the day, not just once. There should also be better enforcement of members wiping down equipment after use. Second, equipment maintenance needs to improve. Broken machines should be repaired quickly, and there should be a clear system for reporting issues and tracking repairs. Third, the gym needs more free weights and better organization of them. There are not enough dumbbells or plates, and weights are constantly left scattered. Staff should be more proactive in keeping the floor organized. Finally, there needs to be more staff presence on the floor to enforce basic gym etiquette. Members should be held accountable for cleaning up after themselves and respecting the space. If these issues were addressed, it would make a major difference in the overall quality of the gym. read more

I understand technical issues happen, but if customers are being charged extra for access to the leg workout room, there should be a reliable backup plan. If the room has a physical lock, why isn't there a key available for situations like this? I moved to Fullerton in 2015. I was part of Golds Gym since. I have never left a yelp review in my life but EOS in Fullerton off Malvern forced me to do this. I thought with the big name EOS has they would improve this gym. Yes they improved the HVAC, cardio equipment, dumbbells and made a BBL studio lol (name it anything else. A BBL is something you buy not build) but the rest of the equipment is STILL the same Golds equipment which was always breaking since 2015 AND it's still broken lol. I make it to the gym every weekday around 4pm... The absolute WORST parts are: *how did this place become a Sunny Hills High School daycare? Kids are coming straight from school to the gym and you can tell cause they are still wearing their school clothes and backpacks with books. I even saw SHHS soccer players juggling a soccer ball in the middle of the gym. I understand that they are paying customers but come on. If they are under 18 they should be accompanied by an adult. God forbid there is something that happens to an underage girl or boy *These same kids come in and will occupy several workout benches or machines. Easily 6-8 kids at a time. No awareness of who's wanting to use the same equipment they are using. Where are the employees to stop this? *what happened to gym etiquette? EOS has several employees standing at the front desk, sales desks or people at a table trying to give away a free shirt with a "sign up a friend" how about you use these employees to help re-rack weights, break up the 6-8 people crowd taking over equipment. Where is the f'ing manager? How about having having some pride in where you work to make it a great experience? *going back to gym etiquette... how about everyone wears actual shoes? People walking around in socks and sandals? Or less. It would be a shame for a weight to get dropped on their feet without proper footwear *the weight scale never works, the bathrooms are a wet disaster, they say they prohibit cameras in the bathroom/locker room area but you have to walk through a person posing then they get mad lol Be a better gym. RIP Gold's Gym. EoS has recently bought over 20 Gold's Gym SoCal locations, so they're still in the early stages of rebranding. So far it looks like they're only focused on painting the interior. In the meantime, they still have all the same equipment and weights that we've been using before. They kept the same friendly staff and the diverse group of personal trainers to help you achieve your fitness goals or to help push you to the next level. I'd be curious to see what changes they make in the new year and if they continue to keep the escape room functioning exactly the same way it's always been used. It's one of the rare perks that keeps me coming back specifically to this location. Otherwise, this is just your typical standard (overcrowded) gym. I don't know much about EoS but they've got some big shoes to fill. read more

I signed up for a $29.99/month membership at EōS Fitness because I was specifically told by a representative (Gio) that it included access to the escape room. That was the main reason I chose that package, and I had been using the escape room without any issues--until last month. Out of nowhere, my access stopped working. When I asked about it, the manager (Mia, spelling might be off) told me that access to the escape room is no more since the "new change over" and that I no longer have access. There was no prior notice or communication about this change. I explained that I was sold this membership with that feature included, but she didn't offer any solution or try to work something out. I even asked if there were options to adjust my membership so I could keep access, but there was no effort to help. I then contacted corporate, and they told me to speak with the gym manager--who had already dismissed the issue. I also reached out to the district operations manager, Samuel Castrejon, and it's been 3 weeks with no response via email. This has been extremely frustrating. I chose this membership based on what I was told at sign-up, and it feels misleading that EōS won't honor what was promised. I just want them to stand by what they sold me. read more

The weight room has a lot of room for improvement, with regard to dumbbells not being placed back, or the wrong weight on the rack, and clearly no one ever cleans the nooks and crannies of the machines and benches. But, the women's bathroom is atrocious. I used the same shower stall for 2 weeks in a row and the same hairball, in the same shape and size, was in the same location, blocking the shower drain. I called to discuss it with a manager and spoke with someone who said they were the maintenance manager. I said that the bathrooms are dirty, mirrors are spotty, and there are stains on the vanities. They said the maintenance team is "supposed" to clean every day, and they will talk with them "again" and "hopefully" they do their job. "No," I said, "this is a gym, these are basic cleanliness and hygiene expectations." I went on to say that "hopefully" isn't acceptable. Bathrooms should be cleaned EVERY DAY. The person on the phone said they will make sure it's done. The next week, in the same shower stall, the same hairball hadn't moved. Thankfully I saw a woman with a broom and dustpan walking around with an EOS polo and I asked her to sweep up the hairball. That's when it finally disappeared - 3 weeks, 1 phone call, and submission form to the website got it done. A few weeks after that, I got a response from my website submission saying they'll work harder to meet "my" expectations. Gosh thats awful. I'm not asking for the moon or to even see super shiny floors. Just super basic cleaning! How daily cleaning is "my" expectation and not the business's expectation is sad. read more

The gym itself was nice. The women's locker room however was disgusting. The steam room smells awful. And the past few times I've come had not been steamy at all. And in the sauna a fire will start because the older ladies think it's okay to put their wet clothes right next to the box that lets out the heat. This gym has completely fallen apart since EOS took over from Gold's. What used to be a solid, well-maintained facility now feels neglected and poorly managed. Equipment is constantly broken and sits that way for days or weeks. I personally reported two broken bikes to an employee yesterday, and the response was pure indifference. No urgency, no accountability. The sauna and steam room, which used to be highlights of the gym, are now poorly maintained and disappointing. Either way it's wrong and people need to be wary of buying memberships from this company and location since this was the same issue I had dealt with when it was Golds Gym. Seems not much has changed. The facility have so many equipment under maintenance and now over packed so there's just not a lot to work with. Their equipment are old and need to be updated. The schedule app is not working for the 3rd time ever since EOS took over. They don't have ETA to have it fixed. When I asked to manually enroll me in a class, front staff told me to show him a proof that the app is not working. Very inconvenient. Management should comunicate better with their staff. If I could give zero stars I would. Like others who have given similar reviews, this gym sold everyone memberships that were considered their 'highest tier' which included access to their Escape Room. Suddenly we have all lost access to this area due to a change in the levels of membership. Mind you access to this room was their main selling point when we signed up and had that not been available we would have never signed up. The manger Mia and her district manager Andrew Beard are doing absolutely nothing to resolve this matter and it sounds like from all of the complaints they aren't planning to do anything about it. Paid for a three year membership, but been going here almost 6 years now. It was recently switched to EoS and the gym has completely went downhill. The gym is super packed to the point that I was doing the bench press and some younger high schoolers were standing next to me and the bar hit their hip. The bar almost fell on my neck because it is just so crowded. Please please please switch all the Gold's Gym to a premium tier. It does not make sense for a business to invest in 20 something new gyms and just have the crowds mingle. Even the urinal was stuffed with toilet paper and it overfilled. The smell of the urine was unbearable. It has literally become a jungle. Please make the necessary adjustments to bring back the environment to what it already was. read more

The Fullerton Malvern location has a terribly rude staff member that works early in the morning. She's consistently unwelcoming any time I've seen her. For example, I came in around 5:20am, and she gives me a dirty look as soon as she looks up. I needed help with the scanner. She doesn't smile. She sounds annoyed. Please get rid of her. The internet service is horrible- non ! It's a hassle to listen to music unless you have it downloaded! Also, I got the "bring a guest membership" to conveniently bring my partner with me but it turns out they have to fill out a sign in doc that asks over 15 personal questions! I decided to buy my membership at this location but after dealing with Justin Song, I went to the location on State College & Chapman and bought my membership there. Justin Song was extremely rude and for so reason he didn't want to help me. I came in knowing what I wanted to sign up for but he Saud that he couldn't assist me and that I needed to wait. After a few minutes of waiting, I decided I wasn't going to deal with thus type of service so I went elsewhere and received great service. I believe that Justin is not happy doing what he does and feels like he shouldn't be bothered. This gym has seriously gone downhill. I came in just to do a simple walk on the treadmill and not a single one was working. On top of that, three machines in the BBL room were down, plus the leg extension, leg curl, and even the biceps machine. At this point it feels like half the gym is just broken equipment. The worst part is that some of these machines have been down for months, so clearly maintenance and management aren't doing much about it. We all want to try a new gym so you brave up and you go in and you're so excited. Let's see if you like the place. But then you get told the one thing you wanna do which just take classes and something that the seven day pass doesn't let you what's the point you don't wanna work out on machines you just want to take classes. See if you like it maybe make some friends but that's the one thing that's not included in a day pass. I find this crazy. We can't try all the amenities then stop giving away free passes to start the gym but the worst is that then they keep calling you asking you to come back when all you wanna do is scream at them saying well it's your policy that I can't actually do the one thing I wanna do which take a class and see what the instructors are like see what the vibe is like and really that's how you "gym" So my recommendation is going in knowing this is that if you get a seven day pass, you better be really happy with just a treadmill cause that's the only thing you'll be able to try. read more
