Great staff that's what makes the fitness experience even more enhanced

I really like the new equipment, the cleanliness of the is very important and I like those TVs to work on some of the machines so it makes the time go by quicker and there's room for parking. I come all the way from Montecito for that reason.

Letter indicating that my EOS Membership was permanently revoked.

I started my membership when it was Gold's Gym over a year ago. I enjoyed it under that management but when they sold to EOS, it seriously deteriorated in poor management, cleanliness, properly functioning machines, and hot showers in the locker room. I started addressing my issues to the front desk but it fell on deaf ears time and time again. Enduring cold showers intermittently within the last couple of months was the FINAL Straw! I searched for the contact person at the EOS Headquarters because EOS does not exhibit the professionalism to list the Contact Information for Upper Management on their website. In fact, I believe they deliberately and intentionally have it unlisted because they are Spineless with no Business Ethics. So, after hours and hours of searching, I found the Executive VP of Facilities, Terri Smith. I immediately reached out to her via email and eventually became more strident as I felt that she was really dragging her feet in getting these issues addressed in a timely manner especially, the lack of hot showers. I clearly explained that all of us were not training to be Navy Seals and need to have hot water as many of us get prepared there at the gym for work. So, having to take cold showers and then run into the Sauna to warm up is a big inconvenience to say the least. In addition, I also said that we all PAY a monthly fee so there should be NO EXCUSE for this!!! Personally, I pay $59.99 a month and asked for her to reduce it for this inconvenience and she blantantly NEVER acknowledged the request in the email thread. In fact, she made it a point to just ignore it! So, after taking another COLD Shower at this gym location, I just LOST IT and wrote her a scathing email indicating that she needs to do better and move her ASS!!! Again, I highlighted that we all pay a monthly fee and that if the tables were turned, I am sure she would be screaming as well!! Unfortunately, she got Butt Hurt because of my tone and choice of words in my last email to her so she decided to get on her broom and transform into the Wicked Witch of the West Coast and terminate my Gym Membership. This is an Executive VP of Facilities who should have BALLS and thicker skin for this type of job and cannot believe that her superiors would not have her cleaning out her desk immediately! Instead, they want to feed everyone that Corporate Kool-Aid Bullshit and Terri Smith is obviously drinking galloons of it because she is weak and pathetic as a Leader! So, my membership is permanently terminated but hope that all the women who are still continuing to work out at this particular location, enjoy those hot showers! But remember, if you complain in the furture be VERY CAREFUL because if Terri Smith does not like your tone or choice of words she will not hesitate to ride high on her broom and terminate your Membership too!

A very dark and uncomfortable place to workout and see your results.

Although COVID was still very much around in 2021, the gym reopened in the spring of that year. The COVID protocols were a bit funky... they required masks to enter the facility but once you were running on the treadmill, you could take them off?!? Didn't make sense to me. Anyhow, now that the mask mandate is over, it's kind of like "at your own risk". They offer wipes throughout the class (when switching groups) to sanitize the equipment for the next person. I do love the workout because I think it's the best bang for your buck, if you want an intense workout (mostly cardio) with about 15-20 minutes of strength training. You do a session on the treadmill (up to 30 minutes) of running at varied paces/inclines. Then a combination of rowing and strength training. I like to start on the treadmill. The bigger classes get split into three groups, with a 1/3 of the class starting on the treadmill, rower, or weight room. Bring a towel and water bottle!!! You will be dripping sweat by the end of it. The goal is to get at least 12 splat points (when your heart rate gets over 84%). To track this, you will have to buy the OTF heart monitor and you will see your progress on the screens around the room. The theory if you get 12+ splat points, you will burn extra calories over the next 24 hours. The coaches are all great. I especially like Sarah, Stephanie, and Jeff! They are all very encouraging during the workout. During the academic year, this location is filled with college girls from UCSB, just FYI. It's never hard to get into a class, and I usually wait until the morning of to book a class through their online app since there is a late cancellation policy if you don't cancel within 8 (?) hours of the scheduled class. I signed up for the Elite membership which gives me 8 classes a month, which works perfectly for me, as I do a lot of other forms of exercise. I love OTF and am glad it's part of my workout routine!!

CUSTOMER SERVICE: 2/5 A fella named Jake helped me get started with the 3 day pass, then followed up with a tour of the facility, which was a nice experience; HOWEVER, on my 3rd visit, this same Jake told me I could not access the facility since the person that helped me that day (a.k.a himself) didn't process the 3 day pass and wouldn't let me in without purchasing a Day Pass. Baffled, I explained the situation again to him and had to remind him that HE was the one that got me started and gave me the tour. He kept saying "nah man, gotta buy a day pass." This debacle took about 10 minutes, but he eventually, begrudgingly, let me in. I understand forgetfulness and mistakes, but his demeanor and handling of the situation was very poor. EQUIPMENT: 4/5 All the cardio and weightlifting equipment seem to be in good, functioning order. Only con here is there is not enough equipment for the busy times. CLEANLINESS/ORGANIZATION: 2/5 Dumbbells, weight plates, and other exercise equipment are often misplaced, so half of your workout time becomes a scavenger hunt. Bizarrely, there is no equipment rack for the cable machines, so attachments are strewn around carelessly. There's currently a hole in the wall due to members carelessly piling 45lb plates against the drywall. This lack of clean culture stems from the lack of direction from management directing staff to maintain an organized area. LOCKER ROOMS/RESTROOM: 5/5 Very modern and clean area. Definitely feels fancy being in there. OVERALL: 3/5 Fitness19 is a decent sized facility with a similarly decent demographic of members, but it is also clear that a decent portion of this demographic takes their fitness fairly seriously; this can be either inspiring or intimidating. If you are a beginner, you may find the crowdedness, disorganization, and overall culture off-putting. If you have some years of fitness under your belt, however, I do believe you will enjoy the gym (except during busy times: plan to spend at least 2 hours if you want to use any of the free weight equipment)

However I couldn't help feeling like the gym was taking advantage of me. Their agreements are confusing, misleading, and honestly deceiving. "If you cancel before the one year commitment it's a $50 fee." But then cancelling after the one year commitment there is a seemingly made up $50 buyout plus $39 fee for following months and "processing fees." This company should be ashamed of themselves for their greedy ways and dishonesty. TIP: throughly read the fine prints of the many documents they make you sign. It is not pretty.
