Visited today to try their special Torta Cubana. It definitely was a different than your regular Cuban sandwich, which we enjoyed the flavors and the bread it came on, especially with the added guacamole. Since this is part of a recall, you can order with the QR code and they bring it to your table. I should have asked for a hot sauce to brighten up the sandwich some more. With all the different options that are available in Strang Hall it is somewhat hard to decide what to order. You can either order at the counter or scan the code and order from your phone. I ordered from the table so I could order from the bar as well and just have one tab. When your food is ready they will test you to let you know. I got the burrito which was a very large portion. The taste was delicious, the sauce on top had a good heat to it, if you don't do heat this is not for you!! but the heat was not over powering the flavors of the rest of the burrito. read more

This was my first time trying out this spot in Strang Hall. We had the pork belly and grits. There was enough in the bowl for two people. The grits were very moist and perfectly cooked. There was plenty of pork belly as well. This meal was extremely good and I would plan on ordering it again. Service was quick and we did not have a long wait after ordering. Great option inside Strang Hall! Order at the counter, and you get a text when your food is hot and ready at the other end of the counter. While you're waiting, grab a table inside or outside! Plenty of room on a Sunday afternoon. The KC taco was really tasty- I liked the salty, spicy, sweet combo of flavors. The fish taco was a huge portion, which made up for the wimpy portion of hot chicken I got. Lots of good texture in the tacos, and I was definitely satisfied at the end of the meal! There's a small parking lot for online pick up in front of the entrance, but there is plenty of street parking all around since there's a park across the street. read more

As others have said, this is inside Strang Hall, and it's worth a trip to come hang out! The food has always been good at all the restaurants, the atmosphere is vibrant, and there's lots of seating inside and out. I have ordered the wings here twice and they ROCK. Perfectly crispy, a tiny bit sweet and spicy, and just delicious. My son also got the pepper chicken sandwich (sauce on the side!) and really liked it as well. Staff is friendly, too! read more

Man, I really wanted to love my meal tonight. I was hungry, and a little taken back by the $35 price tag for an order of Chips and Salsa and three seafood tacos (2 crab and 1 fish). I was hoping it would be worth it. Sadly, it was not. The $24 tacos were small, flavorless with a slight hint of being "fishy", and all were really cold. I picked the food up as soon as it was ready, so in theory it should have been warm. The chips and salsa were just okay. The chips were nothing special and the salsa was meh. I have eaten here before and really liked the food but I don't think I will be back. I ended up eating my husband's pizza and salad, and left the fish tacos on my plate. I love Strang Hall but this is not my place apparently. read more

Great little spot inside Strang Hall. If you're wanting fresh Mexican without the heaviness, I recommend this place. Fresh ingredients and my food was yummy. I ordered the Carne Asada salad with a lemonade. It was really filling without making you feel stuffed. The service was nice. I would totally return to try other items. read more

Grabbed lunch at Fénix during the 2022 badge bash! We got the street corn and burrito crujiente with carnitas. The street corn was fresh grilled and extra smoky. The burrito was good, it was chock full of meat and the sauce was good. I would definitely go back and try the tacos! read more

We did the bacon breakfast burrito from Fenix.  Great burritos are not hard to find in KC but Fenix does something I have not seen before.  They brush the tortilla with what taste like a garlic butter on it and press or grill it.  Not sure which.  It was such a unique twist that made them stand out.  This burrito is a bit steep but the fillings are plentiful making it worth it.  It is on the salty side with the bacon and garlic butter then cheese but the salsa is mild and fresh, acidic to balance it out. read more

Recently heard about Strang Hall and decided to check out Fenix. Fenix has a nice variety on their menu, but I came in knowing what I wanted. It was between the softshell crab sandwich and the softshell crab tacos. I decided to go with the sandwich and was not disappointed. The sandwich comes w/ bacon on it. I ordered it without bacon, but somehow ended up with it on my sandwich anyway. I took it back and they fixed it promptly. So fast, that I thought they just took the bacon off and gave it back...but that wasn't the case. The crab was beer battered (which I wasn't expecting) but it was still pretty good. I thought it would be too "bready" but I could still taste the crab. It came with fries that were seasoned pretty well. The wait time for my food wasn't long and I like that they text when your food is ready. Overall, a pretty good experience and would like to go back and try their tacos. read more

My wife and I stopped in after the lunch crowd. We both got the 3 taco meal with a drink total about 35$. I got pollo, hot chicken and carnitas tacos. Everything was okay but did not live up to the presentation. They looked amazing and were displayed like a five star restaurant. But overall the food a is just did not live up to the picture. I will fully realize that I like a good deal of spice but only the hot chicken taco had a good flavor throughout. I will be back to Strang Hall but might try the sushi next time. As for the area it is amazing with space an comfortable seating in a variety of ways. The staff was very attentive and did their best to keep up with the random people not taking in their own food waste. And the staff was quick to clean any vacant table for the next guest. Washed it all down with a refreshing cucumber agua fresca. A restaurant can always say they serve vegetarian food, but it's always hit or miss whether they actually put the same effort into making it taste good as their other options.
