Oscar's is a little unassuming restaurant out in Olathe. I ordered from doordash. I got a burrito with zesty chicken, Carnitas stuffed with Chara beans, Mexican rice and your traditional herbs and veggies for $10 with a side of refried beans for an extra $2.79 (I used my own plating for this post). Everything tasted fine , but I will say there was more rice than protein this time around and they were a little chintzy on the amount of refried beans. I was expecting two or three times as much for a full side instead of the lil' souffles worth. Next time I'll probably skip the burrito, kick the beans to the curb and stick with their excellent empanadas or flautas. Note: if you have time to dine in.... they should still have a cool little robot that serves your drinks... The robot along with the staff have always been very nice. read more

Not a bad place at all! I've seen it many times before when being in the area and finally decided to give it a try. It's always empty which is a surprise cause the food is really good! They even have a little robot that brings your food to you. All drinks are self serve and they have horchata. The empanadas were good, you get 3, only downside was it was a little plain and would benefit from cheese and some seasoning for the chicken. Everything is customizable which was nice. The burrito was huge and tasty. The rice bowl was also a big serving and was tasty as well. The chicken in the bowl was seasoned and good! Their chile verde has been the best I've ever had. I really wanted to like Oscar's, especially after reading all the positive reviews on Yelp, but honestly, there was nothing authentic about it. This place felt more like a basic Tex-Mex spot than a true Mexican restaurant. To begin with , it doesn't showcase anything that match the more authentic Mexican spots in the area... no condiment or salsa bar, and the interior was just simple and didn't stand out. The food was okay at best, but the meat was poorly seasoned and was one dimensional. Overall, it just didn't feel like an authentic experience. The ambiance was fine, and while the tables were clean but not spotless. I'm giving three stars mainly for the friendly staff at the order kiosk, the robot server which was fun to watch and the somewhat fresh burrito (although the chips were stale). We ordered the salsa verde pork and carnitas burritos. The service was quick and we got our food in about five minutes. But the burrito was unimpressive. The rice was barely seasoned and overcooked, and the meat was sparse with just a few large chunks here and there. There was no sign of salsa verde in the pork burrito, and although the carnitas burrito was slightly better, both lacked refried beans and didn't taste authentic. The "hot" salsa wasn't spicy at all and the green avocado salsa tasted ok. Also, it's worth noting that the restaurant doesn't offer options like birria or al pastor, which nearby authentic spots usually have. Overall, I'd give them a 4/5 for the efforts taken but the overall experience was a 3/5 for me. I'll probably give it another try and hope it's better next time. read more

I stumbled on this place almost by accident as the other Mexican restaurant we intended to go to was closed and this was another highly rated option nearby. Food quality wise we were impressed. Service wise not so much since the people behind the counter did not utter a single word to us the entire time we were there. No hello or goodbye even. They had us order online via QR codes and then a robot brings you everything. Why even ask for a tip at that point? The dining room floors were also pretty dirty so I'd think the kitchen isn't very clean. Craving some authentic Mexican food we walked into Oscar's looking to order a very specific dish and my wife was pleasantly surprised with the build your own dish options right on the menu. Service was pretty quick and the food was not only fresh and authentic but delivered by a robot. You can order at your table via QR code or the counter. It has taken me too long to discover Oscar's great breakfast burritos. They are huge and reasonably priced, each filled with scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, and cheese. Meat choices vary from chorizo, bacon, sausage, and steak. Add refried beans for no charge. And the medium green salsa is good enough to drink, so have no shame and ask for extra. The regular menu is fine but nothing incredibly special, particularly when there are so many amazing authentic Mexican spots in Olathe. They have definitely shifted to more of a takeout spot, with very little ambiance or attention given to the interior, which doesn't bother me in the least. I have been wanting to try this place so gave it a shot. Options to order at the table by scanning in the menu or you order on a screen at the front counter. It's like a more authentic version of chipotle. Order a burrito, picked chicken, charro beans and cheese. I didn't see a spot to choose sauce add on. It came with chips and a small side of sauce. The burrito was good but it could've been warmer. Charro beans were incredible and queso was good. Everything delivered by a robot from the kitchen. Sort of neat but made me think of Paulie's robot from Rocky IV. Good meal that I'll try again. read more

I first discovered Oscar's when they made Yelp's top places to eat list in the KC metro a few years back. Curious, I ordered a burrito via Doordash and I was immediately hooked - I've essentially been ordering from them regularly ever since! This is a local, mom and pop kind of spot that does burritos, tacos, and bowls, similar to Chipotle. Since it's a bit of a haul out to Olathe I end up ordering online a bunch since they are fast, often have deals on delivery, and the food is always delivered on time, correct, and packaged with care. Something I really love about Oscar's that sets it apart from others in this fast casual area is that they give you a small side of chips and salsa with your burrito, which I think is a really nice touch. Another thing I like is that it's pretty easy to order something for kids as well. Our daughter can be a bit picky but I love that it's simple to customize something that she'll eat so we can all eat as a family here. read more

I don't normally write reviews for places that I DoorDash, because I can't give the full experience, but this order was so good I had to say something. I absolutely love the way that my food was packaged. I ordered the chicken flautas with refried beans and Spanish rice. I was craving flautas and I chose here because of the amount of customization you can do with the toppings. I am not a fan of sour cream and most places put it on as standard. I chose lettuce, pico, cheese, and then I added guacamole. Not only was I impressed with the packaging, but everything was delicious. This was by far the most flavorful Spanish rice I have had since moving to Kansas. I was hesitant by the refried beans, because they are almost a liquid consistency, but the flavor was there as well. My husband and I both order the Queso Enchiladas. My husband got Spanish rice and refried beans with his meal. Everything was great except the beans were runny. The Queso sauce and Picadillo meat were great, they have a little kick. If you want more spice that is available, I am on medication that recommends avoiding spicey or greasy food so I appreciate the option of going mild. The serving size is a health size. The service was good, the food was ready when we arrived, the staff welcomed us right away. A real in and out experience. This little local gem is located in the Olathe Landing Shops behind McDonald's next to Dollar Tree. This is a no frills establishment with a straightforward menu and atmosphere. The best way to describe Oscar's is it is a mom and pop Chipotle that was started by two brothers. Personally I like Oscar's better. The staff is very friendly and helpful and your order, whether eat in or to go is brought to you by a robot. Plus they have charro beans (which are my favorite). I ordered the rice bowl which came with my choice of tortillas, rice, beans, meat, salsa. My son ordered the quesadilla which he got to choose his choice of meat, rice and beans. Stoped by for a bean bowl at 1pm on a Monday. The lunch rush crowd had just left. Took the bowl to go. When I got home, I opened the bag and removed a bowl of beans, chicken, sour cream, guac, etc.;; a small bowl of rice (2 oz container); a small bowl of taco beef (2 oz); and a bag of tortilla chips. The chips were stale and flavorless. The chicken bowl was bland and contained barely a cup of food total. The sour cream, guac, and other toppings were missing. The rice was ok--very little seasoning but cooked well. The taco meat was pretty good. Additionally, the listed price was $11.95 + tax ($13.11 is what it should have been) but I was charged $17 and I didn't mark to give a tip since I tip in cash). Authentic Mexican cuisine? Not sure which part of Mexico they're basing the food off, but it's not like any part of Mexico I've been too. This is more like Mexican food for people who do not know what Mexican food is supposed to taste like. It's what a Midwest American family who has never traveled or read a recipe thinks Mexican food tastes like. In other words, it's boring, flavorless, and just not good at all. In all the years I have lived here, I had never noticed this small place in the shopping center. A friend told me about, so I went. My son and I love it and it is not the Mexican restaurant of our choice in Johnson County. The staff is very friendly, and the food is delicious. Based on the reviews, I think I was hoping for a hole in wall authentic Mexican spot with deep flavor. What I got was a chipotle 2.0 burrito that was underwhelmed. They offer the good stuff like charro beans, multiple salsas and a build your own style but it did not work for. If you are looking for a quick and clean burrito that is thick but not a monster like chipotle, I guess come here. Hidden gem! Came here with my family tonight and I was very impressed. Delicious, fresh, flavorful fast-casual restaurant that has their act together!! We started with the chips and guacamole and their guacamole is so flavorful. My family of 4 will need to get 2 orders next time. Yum! I got the queso enchiladas and they were delicious. You can choose your protein (zesty or original chicken, carnitas, asada, chile verde or Picadillo) and which toppings you want. I got the original chicken, carnitas, and asada for my proteins, and then all the toppings. The enchiladas come sauced with queso instead of enchilada sauce which I loved. You can also choose between 4 salsas which seem to be prepared in house. Between everyone in my dakkky we tried all FOUR and they each were so flavorful and fresh, with different levels of spice. I love the simplicity of the menu. Super easy to read with local favorites and not overwhelmingly. When you walk in you order at the counter. I ordered a beef taco and a carnitas taco. The meal comes with your option of charro or refried beans and rice. I highly recommend the charro beans!! Yum. The chicken flautas seemed to be popular. I also ordered a side of chips and salsa which was more than I could eat. I also picked mild salsa because I knew the hot would be too much. Next time I'll get a mild and a hot and mix them. I have zero idea how this place has any good reviews. Staff was inattentive. No salsa to be seen, had to ask for the salsa on my nachos and got a tiny cup of the hot that wasn't even hot. The cheese was clearly velveeta, and the asada was unseasoned and tasted like nothing. The only thing that was half way cool was the robot that delivered the food to the table which seems completely unnecessary for how small the restaurant is . Considering there were 3 people there and I was the only one in their while they staff stood in the back talking it seemed incredibly lazy to use a robot rather than walk the 5 steps from counter to booth.
