Colby, Kansas, March 2026…read more The small restaurant has 10 tables. It It sits on the corner of an antique strip mall. Pretty basic inside the restaurant. The salad bar is located right next to the one and only bathroom. The menu has many sandwiches to choose from. It has fewer entree selections. The waitress was new the night we went. She was nice and extremely helpful. She was an older lady, and I only say that for clarification of the other waitress who had long black hair with ponytail. Tried to get her attention a few times, and even though the restaurant is extremely small, she passed by as if though she did not see us. We ordered the chicken fried steak and the fried chicken. Both came with an ice cream size scoop of mashed potatoes and corn. The potatoes and chicken were covered in a white gravy. The chicken was hot and tender. The mashed potatoes were flavorless as was the gravy. The meals are also accompanied with a roll. Butter is in individual packets on the table. The chicken fried steak was thick and had little breading. It would have been better if it was a thinner pounded steak with more breading as that was more traditional to my liking. When they bring your check, it comes with a warm chocolate chip cookie. Cute idea! The ambience was odd and not welcoming. The location was rather depressing. The food was OK. I would give this place overall 3.5 stars.

Well, I had high hopes for the food here, but everything except the friendly service and tater tots…read morewere a disappointment. We didn't come because of bathroom ratings, but those reviewers that mentioned the poor bathrooms understated conditions: There was not toilet paper or paper towels. Not good. I had the prime rib sandwich with tater tots. As I said, the tater tots were good. But the prime rib sandwich was much too spicy for my tastes. I ate it anyway because I was hungry. It did have Sriracha sauce so I probably should've avoided it. I love prime rib, but this was just OK. Not a super generous portion, and not something I would order again. My sister had the shrimp taco special and did like them. Shrimp were fried. My dad had a small burger and tater tots and did enjoy it. If you're in Oakley passing through as we were, I would skip this place and go with Sonic for food. Of course the owners / proprietors can't control this, but there was a loud and profane group of 4 young men at the bar (at 1:30 PM, we were there for lunch) who used the F word every third word. That situation normal for many bars. I'm sure. I'm just saying this isn't a place I would bring small children. Two of five stars because of the friendly service.

Colby, Kansas, March 2026…read more This restaurant is downtown Colby and has street parking that is all free. Inside has very few tables. In the center they have a long table with iced tea, water, plates, silverware, and condiments. You kind of help and serve yourself. There is no wait staff. When you want to order you go to the bar to get your drinks and place your food order. The menu consists of Salad, a few appetizers and pizza and burgers. This place is quite busy for a Thursday night at 7 PM. I ordered boneless wings and cheese bread. My husband ordered a Hawaiian pizza. He had a Coke which comes with free refills and I ordered a dark Porter draft called Frankie. Very light in taste. Undertones of vanilla and sweetness. It was not very cold. So I had to add ice. I did try the pomegranate wheat beer and that was bitter cold. Just the way it should be. The food came quickly. I had eight large boneless chicken wings. I went with barbecue flavor and it was accompanied with large cup of blue cheese. The breading on the chicken was very good. The chicken, however, was extremely tough. Very hard to chew. The small pizza is extremely small. I've seen kids pizzas larger than this. My cheesy bread was not bread at all. It was a small cheese pizza with the sauce served in a cup in the middle of the pizza. The flavor was horrible. It was tough and chewy. The crust was so hard. It really was difficult to eat. There are two dogs, both are labradors. The yellow one is Barley and she is so extremely friendly. The black one is kind, but not ad outgoing. Her name is Maize. I was so excited about coming here. Such great reviews. I hate to be the sour one, but the food here that I tried was not good at all. The beer had good flavor and would have been perfect, if it had been served cold. My suggestion would be for staff to turn the water and tea station to the other side so that when the line at the bar gets long to order, you don't have to apologize for trying to get your drink. Such a simple fix would make a big difference. I also think if they put the T station and condiment station in a different location, they could probably get at least five more tables in the restaurant. As busy as it became, that might be beneficial. I give this three stars.

I got the double mushroom smasher burger, the cracklins, and onion rings, and all were fantastic! The beer is unique and delicious which matches the food. Service was great, our server was watching several tables, she was on top of it…read more I had chicken salad sandwich and fries. I prefer more dressing on the CS, and more CS on the sandwich. It was tasty, but not $1200 dollars a plate.... If you get that reference the fries were good, fresh cut, just a little crispy. They weren't salted while hot, which maybe is better for you, but maybe isn't as tasty. Dish was OK, too many other things to try to reorder. Wife had Chicken Paillard, with risotto and lemon arugala salad, the special. It had brie and prosciutto on it. She liked it, I tried it, much better than my choice. Risotto was creamy and buttery, really enjoyed it. The chicken had a great flavor, not usually a fan of brie, this was a nice pairing. The prosciutto was nice under the brie, where it peeked out, bacon hints, still very nice. This gets 5 stars. Had iced tea, was good. There were drink options, appertifs, digestifs... We had a ways to go and I was driving, did not try. The restaurant was really well done. Lots of texture and thoughtful decoration. The tables were made from the wood floor of the same building. Bar made of bowling alley lane. Lots going on. If you got this far, we'll done, this is the best part. The Tiramisu was worth the drive. I don't usually order it, in fact I didn't order it now, but I tried it. It was one of the best desserts I've ever had.

Risotto bowl was covered in arugula and I didn't even see my risotto until I took it off. The risotto also had large chunks of artichoke and the whole piece of rabe chopped into pieces (the whole broccoli rabe is not supposed to be used like that). We ordered in a timely manner and the waitress messed up our orders, forgot to put in one of the appetizers, and kept touching us. On positive notes, the mixed drinks were very good and the steaks were cooked perfectly. The kitchen staff gets a 8/10. The bar staff gets a 9/10.
