Three of the four times they had to come out for yearly maintenance or recently an issue with our HVAC, They have been delayed or a no show. I was astonished that they were here first thing yesterday Monday morning. A major part had to be ordered but I still got a text yesterday after they left that they would be here today. They must've had the part in stock at their warehouse, I thought .I got my ass up at 715am to call them for an exact ETA. They said 10-11am this morning. I called them as it approached 11 AM because they usually call with an eta...they had nothing in their system. Pissed me off since i could have been doing something else....then at 230 I get another text that the PLUMBER could come if i called to confirm before such and such a time. WTF. It was a minor dripping leak with buckets before F.H. Furr came and TURNED IT INTO A $10,000+ CLAIM They spilled all over my floor WHEN IT WASN'T THERE BEFORE They LEFT ME TO CLEAN IT UP with my own squeegee and wet vac, as if everybody owns that equipment and is willing to do that. They LEFT A 2-FOOT PIPE FULL OF POOP IN MY WALL!!! They charged $2,500 AND IT STILL LEAKED BY THE NEXT DAY. They RUINED MY FOOSBALL TABLE by putting a sewage-contaminated towel on it, and the insurance had to come and saw it in half. They TOUCHED MY PERSONAL PROPERTY .... My smart screens that show personal photos. He swiped through, probably looking through my photos because I'm a woman and he's a man. The next tech that was sent said it was because the guy didn't check our cleanout for clogs before cutting into a pipe that he suspected was full of They had to send another guy back the next day to do it right, and he discovered the POOP-filled pipe in the wall. YES .... THE FIRST GUY LEFT A ~3 FT PIECE OF SHIT-FILLED PIPE IN MY WALL. It would have just remained there if the 2nd guy hadn't spotted it. POOP! IN MY WALLS! I have that on video too. I don't think people realize homeowners have security systems and are often recording what goes on in their house for their own legal protection. Absolutely pitiful. We have been "preferred partners" with FH Furr for over 10 years and we have recently found we simply cannot depend on them to keep appointments. Over the past two years, after they confirm appointments via repeated text messages, every other visit they simply cancel at the last minute without explanation. Today, 5 Dec, was just another example. We received at least three text confirmations regarding our 10 AM -2 PM window before we got a message our technician would be delayed until 2-3 PM. And at 2:30 we are called saying he's not coming at all. We asked their representative what was the benefit of being a preferred partner - no response. We're rescheduled but have little to no faith they'll show up as scheduled. If you haven't committed, find another HVAC company that hasn't gotten so big they take customers for granted. read more

They bought an AI bot to schedule and it has created havoc for them. But then also the tech came out for an estimated repair; left my back door open and left to get a part for 3 hours. Ever since they implemented their AI scheduler and "call us back in ten minutes to confirm or your appointment will be canceled" policy, we have had four canceled appointments. One, the AI scheduler apparently didn't schedule. The other three were missed because they called while my phone was in do not disturb or I was working. Expecting someone to call and confirm a SCHEDULED appointment is asinine. Not to mention, the number they called while from isn't the same number you have to call back. Their systems are designed for their convenience, not for their clients. We pay an annual fee to have inspections and after this mess, we will not be continuing. read more

Two technicians came out this morning including the technician that installed the system. They thoroughly tested and checked that the system was functioning after replacing the thermostat and circuit board in the furnace. The house this morning was 60 degrees and the outside temperature was 40 degrees. The indoor temperature is now rising so that's a good sign. The technicians knew what was going on and fixed it. Kudos to both of them as being professional and knowledgeable. A little too early to tell a long time whether everything is working but it appears to be on the right track. I wish zero stars was an option. I paid over $100 so that FH Furr could try to sell me a new furnace I do not need. My mistake, I didn't write down the failure code after my furnace stopped running. I told the tech my guess was the flame sensor was the problem. The symptoms pointed to that. He spent an hour taking my furnace apart and taking dozens of pictures, basically looking for excuses to sell me a furnace. The best part, he took a picture of some dust on the blower--but didn't take 2 minutes to clean it. The list was long, including the need to buy some ridiculously expensive air filter. The one thing he was very confident about was the problem was NOT the flame sensor. Good news, if I signed today I would save a couple hundred dollars on a $13,000 furnace replacement. Two days later my furnace stopped again. Code 12. "Flame sensor timeout". I cleaned the flame sensor and it has worked without fail since. Cost $0. This is what happens when private equity companies gobble up all the local tradesmen. NEVER call FH Furr for a repair. read more

I had never used FH Furr before and I wish that I would have read their terrible reviews online. I requested a yearly HVAC maintenance call with them because my previous HVAC guy had retired. We set a date for the HVAC service call -- they were unable to commit to even a time window. For 2 full days, I had countless text messages, calls, and emails telling me that the van was on its way, each of which was followed by a message pushing the proposed arrival time further back. At the end of 2 days of this, I called and asked what was the problem. I wondered if they didn't actually service my area. The customer service representative -- and I use the word "service" reservedly -- informed me that they did. I didn't get as much as a simple acknowledgement after I said that I had been waiting for 2 days for someone to arrive. She literally just ignored what I said and asked if I wanted to reschedule for the next day. After the call, I sent a response to their followup email asking me to reschedule and said that I would not be using their service. Of course, I received no response back from them even acknowledging their incompetence. So, if you're looking for customer service that rates 1 out of 10, call FH Furr for all your needs. read more

I had their service for years but for some reason recently it's been horrible service. I have UV light that isn't working and I'm a regular maintenance customer as well. They will not call back in order to fix my UV light. I can't get the service I paid for monthly. No supervisors will call back. It's really the worst I have ever seen. It could get resolved with a return phone call but that is not happening. I'm highly disappointed and wasted time and money. read more

Absolutely terrible. Our contract was absorbed when they purchased our old HVAC company. Since then they have cancelled countless appointments, sent people without the right equipment and offered zero in return for the constant inconvenience. The serivce if for our office, with two units, one which FH Furr just installed last year. The install process was a nightmare as well, requiring 7 visits because they never "had the right parts or tools with them". It's the end of July and we are still trying to get our Spring service to happen as they have cancelled it, right at the end of the window on the day four times now. When i asked one of the service reps how to better my odds of having someone show up, I was told to schedule earlier in the year...we scheduled this initial appointment for April... here we are now re-scheduled, again for July 31st. The one time we did get service, they found multiple issues and issues that would have required additional fees, the issues when away when I informed the tech they just installed the unit a few months ago. I have been a preferred partner for three years now. I pay two monthly subscriptions (no idea why -- this seems wrong). I called Saturday morning after my HVAC unit shut down. You gave me a window of "all day Sunday". My family and I waited at home all day. I called twice trying to get an update only to be told I would "receive a call back". Never heard from you at all. Called back Sunday evening only to learn that no one would be showing up that day, and that I would be put first on the schedule Monday morning. I call back Monday morning and am told sometime between 8am and 12pm. I call two more times trying to get an update and again am told I will get a call back. Then a technician calls me telling me he's on his way. He immediately calls me back to tell me that he has been re-routed to someone else instead. I call three more times trying to understand and to get an update as to when another technician is going to show up - I receive zero calls back. It is now 2pm and still can't get a simple response out of anyone. I have two babies under 2 years old in this house and three dogs. I pay you $30 / month for two preferred partner subscriptions and I can receive neither (i) service within three days (ii) nor the simple courtesy of a call to let us know you will be missing the window allotted, let alone the fact that you won't be showing up at all that day (or the following day) promised. I bought an AC unit from Costco which was installed by Furr and bought the annual inspection contract. They must get paid by commission. They put the unit on the old pad which was too small. The unit dove nose first into the dirt because the pad was not entirely under the unit. They told me I needed my ducts cleaned. They were 99% open. If you wet your finger and ran it across the inside of the duct your fingertip would be dusty. They told me my water pressure was too high and that my pipes were going to explode. It was/is 70psi which is normal. Every hose in the county is also 70psi. They told me I needed a pressure gauge installed for $1000. They sold me a replacement water softener. They hooked up the intake and exhaust backwards. That took a few visits to figure out. After it was in place for 6 years the inspection guy told me the whole unit needed to be replaced. And I would also need a whole house filter to filter the water before it got to the new softener or it would just fail again. He wouldn't service the softener unless I also paid for the filter. I'm old but I'm male and can take care of myself. It horrifies me that the old women living on a fixed income would be taken advantage of by these guys. read more

Terrible customer service, terrible response times, rushed installs etc. Spent $50k on new HVAC and minisplit- both have required multiple service calls a year in two years since install, cant even get a service manager to pick up the phone to explain why both systems are faulty. When the description was repeated for each of them, each one quickly replied that they did not do that sort of work. So, why were they responding? Why would one want a company which would not even read the task required? Even after that, I received several queries from them asking whether or not there still was a problem yet could help with. If I could post a 0 star rating I would. To start off, we had been part of FH Furr's Preferred Customer program for at least 5 years. About a month ago they contact me to schedule our annual pre-Summer HVAC inspection (typical for the March/April timeframe). Their tech comes out, and the inspection seems to be taking longer than usual - he was working for about 3 hours when usually the inspections take about an hour or less. Once it seems like he's done, he says our "HVAC system is no longer working", and the "control board has gone bad", and the only options are to replace the control board or replace the entire system. For context, FH Furr has been pushing us to replace our HVAC system ever since the first time they set foot into our home. When I ask for a quote on control board replacement, I am given a price of almost $3500. After consulting family members with HVAC experience, as well as Google, we determine the FH Furr is gouging us out of their minds (we contacted another HVAC vendor who quoted us at about $1000 for control board replacement, for both parts and labor). I don't know if the tech simply messed up, or if there was something more sinister going on, but given all the facts, the optics of the situation did not look good at all, and as such I encourage everyone to stay as far away from this company as you can. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with FH Furr. When I scheduled my hot water heater replacement, I specifically asked that the technician arrive with a replacement tank on the truck so the job could be completed quickly. I even provided the available height. FH Furr told me to postpone the appointment to Monday so the technician would be fully prepared. On the morning of the appointment, I confirmed the 8-9 a.m. arrival window within seconds of receiving the confirmation text. No one showed up. After multiple follow-ups, I was eventually told that their automated system had canceled my appointment by mistake. The technician finally arrived about 2.5 hours late and then told me he did not have a replacement tank and would need to go pick one up--exactly what I was told would not happen if I delayed to Monday. This turned a roughly 2-hour job into an estimated 4-hour repair. I was then quoted $3,200 for a standard 40-gallon gas water heater replacement, which is far higher than typical market pricing. After days without hot water and hours of waiting, I felt pressured to proceed. For all of this inconvenience, FH Furr offered a $100 coupon that anyone can get online. Communication was poor, accountability was lacking, and it was extremely difficult to speak with a manager. FH Furr promotes itself as a family-owned local business, but the experience felt like dealing with a large company driven by automated systems that fail customers. After a month of trying to get an answer why my check did not clear the bank no one ever call me only text messages. I left numerous messages for someone in billing to contact me it never happened. I sent an email on Monday November 17, 2025 advising I was contacting a local news station to advise of my situation. F.H. Furr's sales rep lied about my HVAC system's eligibility for a tax rebate. When my furnace died in December, my first thought was to go to Furr because I've been a member of their annual maintenance program since 2013. They were quick enough to diagnose the system as unsafe and in need of immediate replacement, and had a sales rep out same day to pitch me on a top-of-the-line HVAC system. And the principal element of that pitch was the system's eligibility for a two thousand dollar tax rebate. What a deal, right? The salesman even said, "I can't tell you how much to expect back but I've never seen this unit get less than two thousand dollars." Except that after signing the contract, Furr never sent me an invoice to apply for the rebate and when I did finally squeeze one out of them it turns out that there was no such rebate on the model of HVAC system they'd sold me! When I called back, I repeatedly got the run-around; placed on hold until disconnected, transferred to unnamed voicemail boxes and never called back or just plain told that someone would get back to me before being cut loose. After weeks of this shabby treatment, I finally complained to the Fairfax County Office of Consumer Affairs and you'll never guess what happened - they gave the county customer affairs specialist the run-around, too! It's now nearly May and I've just been informed that my complaint will be closed as unresolved because F.H. Furr refused to respond. My strong advice, do not do business with F.H. Furr; their salesmen are dishonest and their customer service will ignore you. I've already cancelled my service plan with them and fully intend to keep my friends and family from ever doing business with them again. read more

Leonard 'Luz' Funez came to my residence to look at my drains because I thought they were clogged. The consultation was free, he emailed me preventative measures, was EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions. He was on time, nice, professional, and was kind enough to wear booties over his shoes. When the technician was on his way, the company sent me a link to track him. My wife and I moved to Northern Virginia nearly eight years ago. Shortly after we arrived, we used FH Furr for electrical upgrades in our home. My wife signed up for the FH Furr HVAC membership, which provided us with a discount on biannual system checks. Last week, we encountered a problem with our Noritz tankless hot water heater, so I called FH Furr. To their credit, they sent a technician to our home within two hours. Markus B. examined our tank and mentioned that he wasn't familiar with Noritz but would do his best to find a solution. He contacted Noritz customer service while I searched online for a new tankless hot water heater, unsure of what he would discover. I found tankless hot water heaters at Home Depot and Lowe's, starting at $600 and up. When Markus returned, he said the part needed, according to Noritz, was backordered until late April. We then began discussing replacing it with a new tankless hot water heater. I showed him what I found online, and he indicated that none of the less expensive options would be suitable. We needed a 199,000 BTU model with a minimum of 11.1 GPM. Markus stated that we would need a Rinnai RXP199i; naturally, that was a higher-end model. He stepped outside to call his manager for a quote while I searched for the Rinnai RXP199i online. I found the hot water heater that Markus recommended at Ferguson, and it was available for pickup that day. Markus returned and said the price to replace our hot water heater would be approximately $6,400. I was stunned since I had the exact model on the Ferguson website, with the heater itself priced at $2,100. I asked how FH Furr could justify a $4,300 installation fee. He said he would call his boss to see if there was anything he could do to lower the price. He stepped out and then returned with a quote of $5,500. Amazing, right? I thanked Markus for his time and said, "No thanks." He looked shocked. My impression was that he thought he had us over a barrel and that it would be an easy sell. He estimated the installation would take 4-6 hours, or $566 per hour for six hours of work. He explained that they had to pay him and make a profit, not to mention that FH Furr would get the Rinnai unit at the contractor's discount. After Markus left, I went online and bought the Rinnai RXP199i from Ferguson, picking it up that afternoon. While at Ferguson, Travis asked who would handle the installation. I told him it would be Veteran Plumbing, and his eyes brightened as he mentioned that Dennis was fantastic and would do an excellent job. I felt relieved and was confident everything would turn out fine. Veteran Plumbing arrived as scheduled, and it took about 3.5 hours to install the new unit. The quoted price was $850. They needed to add an expansion tank and some new piping, but everything was completed on time. Shame on you, FH Furr. My recommendation is to find a smaller, more responsive team that doesn't charge exorbitantly to pay for their wrapped service vehicles. read more

Contrary to bad review from other people, I have always had good service from Furr. I contacted F.H.Furr electrical to help with what I thought was a faulty outlet. One never wants to make assumptions about anything electrical. They were able to send Michael Cabrera at a time and date I requested, continuing Furr's excellent customer service. Michael diagnosed the pesky outlet and was able to install a whole house surge protector on the same service call. His installation was totally painless; he was efficient, knowledgeable, precise, and mindful about cleaning up the work area. I couldn't be more pleased. read more

I have been helping out a family member and had F H Furr replace their HVAC. I agreed to a contract at that time covering the HVAC, electrical and plumbing. The HVAC install/replacement went well. No AC is miserable here. Later a plumbing leak from the wall of one toilet needed repair and I had the other three checked. In another bathroom one the tank parts needed replacing (less than $30 parts and an easy fix) but was I discouraged from just doing that and an attempt was to upsell on an entire toilet replacement, a new toilet would not have matched the color of floor tiles, bathtub/shower and sink and would eventually been an entire bathroom renovation costing thousands of dollars. I was able to replace the tank parts myself...there had been an estimate for the simple fix but the labor estimate was five to ten times the cost of me doing it myself. It isn't a big job but I understand to expect a hefty labor charge but not a suggested entire bathroom remodel over tank parts (lever and floater). An electrician came to the house to do a routine inspection and he recommended a new electrical panel and gave some great advice but I never received the estimate for the work. I called to find out when to expect that and was told I would need another appointment for an estimate, meaning I would have to spend another day waiting for an electrician to look at what already had been looked at. I do not understand why the suggested upgrade did not include an actual cost estimate. My time is of no value to them. A storm brought down a tree on the house and damage the roof and exhaust pipes for the HVAC all the way down to the bottom floor and let in rain that flooded and damaged the first floor wood floors. The HVAC inspection of that damage helped discover how/why water got in and flooded the floor and which allowed me to explain it to the insurance guy who was insisting that the water damage was not from the roof...despite the roof and floor damage occurring at the same time. I was told to hire a chimney company to make repairs to the piping from the roof to the HVAC and I did that. Later, during a routine inspection by F H Furr as part of the service contract, the HVAC inspector said the exterior and interior units had issues and needed flushing and other maintenance services costing about $1500. System was about four years old and needing $1500 (none of that was noticed during the recent post storm damage assessment), seems like it was something that should have been covered and also addressed previously, if truly an issue. I honestly do not know how to tell if service contracts from any company are worth the money or if I should believe the ones doing the inspections, not just F H Furr. I have had worse experience at my own house by other companies. I just don't feel like the contracted inspections are anything more than a money grab to diagnose problems that don't exist. And why was there no written estimate for replacing a 50+ year old electrical panel when that I was told is something I should do during the covered inspection? read more

New outside AC unit installed. After a couple of weeks, the components inside the house froze, and water started leaking all over the furnace. No cooling. Multiple techs visited. Although the sales rep claimed the new AC would be compatible with the current furnace, it actually isn't. Wires were left disconnected. The flammable gas detector unit continues to flash, very worrisome (new coolant has low flammability). They promised to make things right, but now they're asking for $ 8,000 to replace a blower, thermostat, and circuit board on the old furnace. read more

What a joke!! My son-in-law called this company, for service to look at their heat pump. The people at the FH Furr office scheduled an appointment and sold him a 1 year maintenance plan. FH Furr then canceled on the day of the scheduled appointment and rescheduled for the following day between the hours of 12 PM and 2 PM. I drove to my daughter and son-in-law's home and waited between those hours and no one showed up. My son-in-law called me and said FH Furr called him and said they were going to cancel again. My son-in-law argued with them and they said a technician would be out to the home by 4:30PM. Well guess what? 4:30 PM came and FH Furr called my son-in-law and said they would be at the house by 6:30PM. It was dark outside and I told my son-in-law there was no way a technician was going to be able to look at their heat pump in the dark. FH Furr called my son-in-law at 6:30PM and said they had a technician on the way, but he was over an hour away. I told my son-in-law to call FH Furr back and cancel the appointment and to get his money back on the maintenance contract. I said you YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH AN UNRELIABLE COMPANY. We had a Dead Thermostat for our furnace. We called and were quoted a Small amount for a Service Call Plus Parts for the item. We started at about $100.00 plus the Replacement thermostat. While the Technician tinkered with the electrical connection, for the thermostat, we finally got billed for $740.00 for the Call. There was no Itemization between the Original amount and the Inflated final tally. We paid the bill because we needed the heat, We sent in 2 Complaints to their Customer Service , asking for a reason for the Inflated Final Cost and researched (Online) for the exact same brand name part, which listed at $150.00 They never Replied with an answer nor an adjustment in the Exorbitant billing. FH Furr has no respect for their appointment times. Only use FH Furr if you have a completely flexible schedule to work around their schedule, last minute changes, and cancellations. I called 2 months in advance to schedule an HVAC servicing because I need that far in advance to take off work. I called to confirm the appointment the day before. Then, the morning of, they said the technician was running late and that they needed to reschedule the time. It is understandable how that can happen. They rearranged the time slot until later in the day. I therefore had to rearrange some meetings. They called and texted to say the technician was on the way. It took me exactly 15 minutes to reply, saying I was available (which I had already confirmed when I spoke to them earlier in the day) because I was in a meeting. In that period, they cancelled by entire appointment. So it is ok for them to give you almost no warning to rearrange their time slot, but if you do not reply to them instantly, they will cancel your appointment. Homeowners Beware We were left hot and bothered after our shiny and pricey new AC units were installed. We noticed the temperature in our home continually fluctuated. In less than two weeks after spending nearly $30,000 the fan inside one of the units broke. My husband and I got the run around regarding when the new part would arrive and when we could expect a fully functioning system. It took more than a month before our AC units were repaired. It is disappointing to think that a brand new unit wouldn't function properly-- or even be replaced instead of repaired. read more

I was using R&B HVAC since 1985 until FH Furr bought them out. From the beginning there were problems, from them not responding, to having no information about me on file (from 35+ years with R&B!) to scheduling mix-ups. Yesterday I was scheduled for an HVAC maintenance checkup, set a month ago. After waiting for the 4 hours arrival window to come and go, with no calls from the company about the ETA, I called and requested an ETA. After no return call for 30 minutes, I fired them and requested a refund of my unused maintenance contract. This was the third time in a row that this has happened. To quote a previous Yelp, "FH Furr has no respect for their appointment times." They need to spend less money on advertisements telling us how good they are and more money on actually getting better. R&B never did this. Shameful. read more
