I have literally never had a better steak in my life. That it was accompanied by some of the best service I have ever experienced only underscores how amazing this place is. My sister, her fiance, and I had just finished one of those cross-country day tours. All of the talk about the best beef in the world, combined with sheer exhaustion, and no regard for a budget led us to the FX Buckley on Crow Street. We moseyed our ragged selves in around half eight in the evening, and while there was no seating immediately available, they were wonderful enough to squeeze us in for a seating about forty-five minutes later. Once seated, we shared a bread and dip starter. And then we got our steaks. My sister and I both ordered the ribeye - she, the 14oz, while I got the 10oz - and my future brother-in-law got the 16oz T-Bone (all medium-rare). There was no talking while we ate. Something about the way FXB ages their already-pristine beef, coupled with a kitchen that knows how to cook meat, produced an end product that was absolutely phenomenal. The only unfortunate thing - which is not really unfortunate at all - was that the sides we ordered (mash, creamed spinach, and green beans) all seemed superfluous. The service was as impeccable as the food. Our server was incredible, an absolute pro at what he does for a living; he knew exactly how to craft a dining experience, and was an absolute delight to speak with. The other servers who cultivated our experience were just as lovely and personable, and as it was the end of the night, they were all in the process of "letting their hair down" a bit. We talked as if we were old friends, which was a perfect way to end the night. I highly recommend the Crow St. FXB location, and will absolutely be visiting here the next time I'm in town. read more

Excellent T-bone steak and nice staff! I like this place... their meat is good and they replace your sides for free if you finish them (I guess this is true only for certain dishes). The staff is friendly and professional and we particularly enjoyed the support of the Italian guy! :) read more

Walked into this place as we found it on Yelp. No tables so came back the next day and luckily for a table for two with no reservation. Had the kidney and mushroom app and the duck liver pate. Both were amazing!!!! Partner had the filet with peppercorn sauce. Very tender and cooked perfectly. I prefer the ribeye for the flavor. Again cooked perfectly and very tasty. The creamed spinach was excellent as well. Excellent service. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Tonight was my first time in FXB's . Which isn't surprising as I'm not a beef lover. The menu is exactly what it says on the tin.Steak! The menu otherwise has one option for chicken and 2 fish options and 1 veggie option. I opted for the veggie option which was a mushroom dish. Which was nice but lacked flavor but there was a dressing that made up for this, but unfortunately it was stuck to my plate so I was literally scraping it off my plate to add it to my dish. Not sure if this was a flaw with the dish or if the drizzle was meant to be this sticky. Either way, I was tempted to ask for more dressing so that I wasn't scraping at it. I also ordered the seafood platter to start which was beautiful, really great oyster and crab. The prawn wasn't great. It wasn't cleaned properly and I could taste the dirt inside. For dessert I ordered the Creme brûlée. It was amazing. An the shortbread side was a beautiful. FXBs is a great restaurant, I was really impressed. However we spent €120 for 3 course for 2 people. Hugely expensive! But worth it especially if you are a lover of steak. Customer service was really nice also. There was one waitress in particular that was really great Craic! read more

Good food, good service. We were fortunate to walk-in on a Saturday night and get the last table (although it was only free for 75 minutes). We started with the goat cheese and bread platter starter. I had the medallions and hubs the 10oz fillet. It was the best steak we've had in Europe. We shared a reasonably priced bottle of red wine. The staff were very friendly and enjoyable. This place was incredible! We got a steak dinner for two, and I don't think either of us has ever eaten so much. We didn't want the meal to end. The steak was perfectly cooked, the side dishes were amazing, and the four sauces that the steak comes with - each one we tried was better than the last. It was the best tasting meal of our trip, hands down. Apart from that, the atmosphere of the place was great and the service was lovely. They took the time to make sure everything was exactly as we wanted, and were friendly and accommodating. This was the kind of service that anticipates your needs and fulfills them before you ask. When I made the reservation about a week before, I had written a little note saying it was my boyfriend's birthday. I didn't know if they'd remember it when they seated us, but without any prompting, they brought out the dessert we ordered at the end of the meal with a lit candle and wished him a very happy birthday! He hadn't seen me get up to talk to anyone (because I hadn't), and he was thoroughly surprised. Very nicely done, guys. I could not have asked for a better experience, and I'd travel all the way back to Dublin just for another dinner here. They really know what they're doing. read more

Went there on a Friday night on short notice and asked for a table for one. Almost was turned down at first, but then the host went above and beyond in finding me a free table, which was quite enough to partake in their devilled kidneys, followed by a lovely cut of sirloin, all of which accompanied by an excellent glass of Malbec. The devilled kidneys came in a nicely, but not overly spicy sauce with some mushrooms and were cooked to tender perfection. It's easy to overcook kidneys and have them turn all tough and rubbery, but there was not a hint of that to be found in these -- very well done! The sirloin was done equally well, cooked to tender perfection with exactly the degree of doneness I had ordered, and the in-house dry aging they do was definitely evident here: It was one of the best pieces of meat I've had in a long time, and that's saying something. All in all, the service was friendly and quick, the atmosphere was amazing, and the meat was splendid -- I couldn't have asked for a better dinner. Thank you again to the host! read more

The ribeye steak I had here was expertly cooked; juicy and tender it didn't need any sauce at all. It certainly reflects craftsmanship and quality of their beef. Nice to know that it was just as good as when the parents last came here many many years ago. The red wine jus seemed a little lack lustre although I can't quite put my finger on why... The spring onion mash was also delicious (just the right amount of butter and spring onion) but the creamed spinach was drowning in cream... maybe that's a personal preference. Ended the meal with a sticky toffee pudding. Even though it was microwaved it kept its moisture and was scrumptious. Highlight for me was, without a doubt, the ribeye steak and worth every penny too. All dining experiences should be this good. For starters it's a good idea to make a reservation. We did the night before. They were pretty booked, but the maitre'd was so nice in helping fit us in. When we arrived he remembered us and made us feel truly welcomed, as did the entire staff. We started with Cesar salads which were delicious. Then we had the porterhouse for 2 as the entree. The steak was excellent and cooked perfectly. There were also 3 side dishes that come with the meal; fries and mashed potatoes, sautéed mushrooms and onions and vegetables. All were delicious and there was plenty of food. For dessert we had the double chocolate tart, which was a fabulous way to end the meal. When I return to Dublin I will absolutely be returning to FX as well. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Strange that I'd never been here before. FXBs have been in Crow St for at least 10 years, maybe much longer and yet I never once darkened their door until now. This is possibly because I had a less than great experience in their Pembroke branch many years ago. Anyway, came here on a balmy May Tuesday night for a business dinner, venue chosen by the other party. First impressions were very good, small cozy room and buzzing with conversation. We were seated immediately at the tiniest of tables but that proved not to be a problem either. We both ordered sirloin steaks, medium rare, his was 10oz, mine the more substantial 16oz which arrived promptly with great chips and cooked to perfection, just the right amount of blue and temperature. The bearnaise sauce on the side was just the ticket for dipping. The very friendly server recommended a Malbec to go with the beef and, being male and Irish, we went along with her recommendation - and it was a good one. Had our staff Xmas party here last night...I know, Xmas in January,, blame the snow. Anyway, what can I say. Food was ok, steak cooked the way I like it but I have to say I have experienced better. Starter of calamari was again nothing exciting and I wouldn't be in a rush back there. Staff were efficient, friendly. Half of our group were sitting on a banquette and needed to use their coats to prop themselves up as the seat was very low. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive to us. They even brought as champagne as I told them it was our honeymoon when we booked. The different steak cuts were actually shown to us on a platter and we were given thorough guidance in to what steak should be ordered with which side, etc. We found the steaks cooked perfectly and were some of the best that we have ever had. In addition, the price was less than what we would spend at a mid-range steakhouse in the US. As a steak lover from America I guess I have certain expectations of what a good steak is. We were dining with another couple at this place and overall it was a pleasant experience (ambience, service, menu and drink choices) but my steak was only "ok" (which is not what you expect from a "high-end" steakhouse). It was cooked well but was incredibly fatty and gristly (some serious flossing was needed afterward) - a bit disappointing (the other couple had similar outcomes). Not sure we would come back as there are plenty of other premium steak options in the city that I would now want to try. read more

We went here on Friday night to try somewhere different and as my wife loves steak and the like, we chose here. It was baltic out so I went for the soup of the day (tomato and roasted red pepper) and she had the goat's cheese tartlet. Both were nice and tasty. For mains she had the medallions of flllet beef with spring onion mash, shallots, mushroom & red wine jus and was very happy. She loves it well done and the slightest bit of pink meat will put her off but to be fair, they did well there. I had the 10 oz rib-eye. I have to say, I was unimpressed. Maybe it was the lighting or maybe it was that they had 'tenderised' it but it looked like it had been run over by a car. It tasted fine. No more, no less. I'd have been happier had the chips been chunkier but they were thin fries and I hadn't been asked if I wanted them to be covered in salt. I don't like salt on chips. I was a little disappointed in what I got, especially considering that my wife's meal looked lovely. The staff were very helpful and they couldn't be faulted at all. An enjoyable evening but I can only give it 3 stars (3.5 if I could). read more

The steak here was actually cheaper than the steaks at Hugh end steakhouses back in the states so this was a plus for us. Amazing place to dine!! Beautiful and quaint place!! The fillet just melts in your mouth. I had it with garlic butter...a must! My husband had the sirloin which was amazing as well. Came here for our 5-year anniversary since it was rated so highly and we like to do a really nice dinner for all of our anniversaries. This will go down as one of the less memorable of our anniversaries. Had to wait 15 minutes to get a table even though we had reservation. The hostess apologized multiple times and brought us champagne while we waited, so major points on their service. Waitress was also very good throughout the night. Ordered before dinner drinks. Wife had Bulmers cider and I had a nice Irish Stout. Ordered a bottle of malbec (Urban Uco) to go with dinner and it went well with our entrees. Ordered the half dozen oysters, which were pricey, but also very good. My wife ordered the Sirloin and I had the bone-in sirloin. Both were ok, but expected more from all the other reviews. Might be spoiled with the great selection of steakhouses in NYC. Sides were mashed potatoes, onion rings, and green beans. All were fine. Ordered the sticky toffee pudding for dessert, which was amazing, and my wife ordered a amaretto. They brought the toffee pudding out with a candle in it since they knew it was our anniversary, which was kind of awkward since it was just my dessert, and we ordered it. My wife cannot eat gluten which they knew and couldn't have any of it. They didn't allow for a tip on the credit card, which we saw at a couple other places on our trip in Ireland, I suppose to evade taxes on tips, however given the size of some bills, that is assuming that you have a decent amount of cash on you to tip. We didn't have any euros left since it was our last night in Ireland. Had to tip in USD and left less of a tip than I would have had I been able to charge it (as I said the waitress service was good). Wouldn't recommend this place to others travelling in Dublin. The value was not there. The traditional Irish food at some less formal places will be more lasting memories from my trip to Dublin. read more

I live Las Vegas, NV where we're known for our fine dining and IMO even Craftsteak does not compare. I never received a response to the following feedback provided directly to the restaurant after an awful experience while dining here... "Although I have never complained about a restaurant before, after relaying my experience to my friends / colleagues, I feel it is necessary in this instance, particularly to ensure the safety of others in the future. While the restaurant got my order incorrect (and left my boyfriend's meal on the table while they were correcting my order, meaning we were eating separately), I understand that these things happen and this would not enough in isolation to merit a complaint. However, later in the evening, I went to attend the (ladies) bathroom at the restaurant to find that the first cubicle was covered in vomit and the second cubicle was occupied. While waiting for the second cubicle, I smelt smoke. Moments later, a man appeared from the cubicle (who was clearly a heroin addict) and approached me (the majority of what he was saying was inaudible). Tin foil and ash were scattered all over the floor of the cubicle. Thankfully, I managed to leave the bathroom. I notified a female waitress about what had occurred, and while I was relaying the story to her, both of us witnessed the man leave the restaurant. I returned to my seat and no one approached me to ensure the matter was under control. I was naturally very shook as to what had happened. It was not until I asked the maître d' 10 minutes later as to whether it was safe to attend the bathroom that he stated that the bathrooms were in order. He shrugged off the issue, noting that they could not control who uses their bathrooms and that it was a frequent occurrence (with one drug addict locking himself in the staff bathrooms in the previous week). As soon as possible after, we left the restaurant. No one acknowledged what had occurred while we were leaving and we were sent to find our coats ourselves. Although you cannot monitor the individuals who use your bathrooms (due to the physical layout of the restaurant), you do have an obligation to ensure that your customers are safe while dining in your restaurant. There is a variety of ways in which these frequent occurrences could be prevented, for example, by placing a passcode on the bathrooms. A much worse situation could have unfolded with one female in an isolated bathroom with a male who had just taken heroin." read more

After a long day of traveling we decided to treat ourselves :) We walked in without a reservation and they were able to get us in right away- BUT I think we got really lucky. Do yourselves a favor and make a reservation! I got the steak and seafood (6 oz filet and seared scallops) with garlic butter, my husband ordered the sirloin with peppercorn and bearnaise sauces, with a side of chips and added on seared scallops. Everything and I mean everything was delicious; the steaks were cooked to perfection, as were the scallops. Everything was seasoned well, just enough to enhance the food without taking away from it. Somehow we had room for dessert; I am happy that we did! I ordered the strawberry ice cream sundae and my husband ordered the crème brûlée. The strawberry sundae was lovely! Not too sweet, nice and balanced. The crème brûlée was good, but I think it's hard to go wrong there. The service was wonderful, the entire staff were attentive. Even though it was busy, they took the time to make sure that we were taken care of. Honestly, I'm a little sad that we can't eat there every night of our vacation. read more
