F45 is a functional training gym that runs 45-minute workouts with high work-to-rest ratios (e.g.,…read more45 seconds work, 15 seconds rest, repeat). The workouts are programmed, so you follow the instructions given for each station, but the gym has plenty of equipment, so workouts change from day to day and don't get repetitive. Mondays & Wednesdays are cardio days (though you'll still have weighted exercises), Tuesday & Thursdays are strength days (think more weight and slower reps), and Fridays - Sundays are hybrid days (combo of strength + cardio). The workouts are very challenging and will have you gassed by the end, but they're only 45 minutes, and the coaches provide modifications, so you can power through! The equipment here is great and in good condition. This location recently opened a "Recovery Room" that offers massage guns, foam rollers, and compression boots to help your body relax and recover after tough workouts -- it's amazing! The only variable at F45 (which is probably true at most gyms) is the coach you have for your workouts. Tim (who coaches Mondays and Wednesdays) is super high energy, remembers your name, corrects your form, and will encourage and push you without being overbearing -- he's the best! Other coaches will walk around the room and help spot check your form on workouts, but won't provide much motivation. And at a couple of the workouts I've been to, the coaches have just stood and talked to each other (or people from the previous workout) for the full 45 minutes. To me, this last coaching style is unacceptable, and the one piece I wish I could change. Overall, I'm very happy with this gym and would recommend it to anyone looking to improve their physical health, especially those who have limited time to work out or don't know how/don't want to program their own workouts.

I worked out here for quite a while. I love the vibe and the owner. 10/10 recommend getting an…read moreunlimited membership here. Get it through the gym, not class pass imo. The trainers are great and will correct your form. If you go a lot, it's about $5 a class. This is a much better deal than ClassPass and it goes to a local business owner instead of a middleman.

Obsidian fitness is a fun, low-impact alternative to your regular gym routine. It's a fun way to…read moremix it up with a solid combination of cardio and strength-based training. The board takes some getting used to but it really engages your core and left my abs (and legs) feeling worked the day after! The studio offers a few varieties of classes with a spectrum of foci from more weights to more cardio. The Obsidian Strong Class was my favorite. It used a combination of barbell weights and the board to test your balance and fatigue your muscles. Great challenge. Not to mention, the staff at Obsidian is incredibly friendly as well as the patrons. Everyone is willing to help you set up and just seem happy all around to be part of a unique workout community.

I bought the Groupon to DASH and did 4 Body Combat classes to start off. Loved them. Great workout, really fun, and good instructors. Also liked the one experience I had with Body Vive. I tried one Obsidian II class and didn't love it. That was the only time I felt out of place, like I'd wandered into a class full of Lululemon dolls. I didn't get a lot of direction or friendly advice since I was obviously new to it. I never really felt like I was a part of their "community," although at least it looked like they had one. I also think that their front desk workers are a bit disorganized/not as well trained as I would have liked. I had girls act confused several times when I went in to have my class pass punched (like they couldn't figure it out), and then I had one girl accuse me of lying and said I already went to an Obsidian class (which was obviously a computer glitch) when I told her I was 100% sure I never did. I was really upset because she was so snotty to me, but luckily one of the owners intervened and said I could take the class anyway. Regardless of my satisfaction with the Body Combat classes, that last experience left a bad taste in my mouth about DASH. I won't be returning (although I had thought about purchasing a membership) and probably wouldn't recommend it to friends. I've been to other places with great instructors and classes that treat their customers really well - I don't need to be in a place that would accuse me of lying and not acknowledge a computer glitch.

I can always expect to get an incredible workout and my muscles reach a burn that I cannot get anywhere else. If you have not tried Lagree before, no it is not the same as Pilates. Lagree is more challenging in my own opinion, and I have done both extensively in the last few years. I have found that doing Lagree, especially at Peak 45, has done wonders for my skiing and snowboarding, and I can lift weights much more effectively now too. It is a full-body exercise and being in a Peak 45 class with like-minded clients forces me to push myself even harder. These classes stay true to real Lagree, which really emphasizes time under tension and targets slow-twitch muscles. I have found that it is the most effective workout for me when it comes to building muscle. It is also low impact, which makes it so much easier on my joints than classic weight lifting and HIIT workouts. I can do Lagree 5-6 days a week and feel quite good-- just make sure you sleep and fuel properly. I did a lot of Peak 45 classes in this last year and I have never felt so strong. Thank you, Peak 45!

Getting assistance before class started was really important to me. The instructor, Antonia, introduced herself to several other new people but completely ignored me. I raised my hand and explained that I was new and needed help, and she responded, in front of the whole class, with a rude tone that she "didn't know I was new" because I "didn't check in with her," despite the fact that I had already checked in at the front desk and been there 15-20 early! She gave me a rushed 30-second overview of the machine, never asked if I had questions, concerns, or prior injuries, and then jumped right into the workout. Thankfully, the person next to me helped explain some of the movements. At one point, I adjusted the tension to accommodate my recovering hip, and she came over and snapped at me that it "needed to be on the red." It was so rude and dismissive. She seemed completely out of touch and uninterested in whether people felt safe, comfortable, or welcomed. Very disappointing experience all around!
