Love supporting this local business that often hosts or participates in community events and focuses on creating a welcoming and accepting environment for all. I've never felt more welcomed into a studio by an instructor before! I took Alissa's class, and it happened to be her birthday ride (happy birthday!) She greeted me when I arrived, then made sure my bike was all set up when I got into the ride room, asked for my name, shouted me out in class, and followed up with me afterwards to see how I enjoyed the class. Thank you for making me feel so welcomed, Alissa! At the end of class, a staff member passed out a cold towel to every single person in class while we were stretching. Cold towels are SUCH a nice touch. It's located above Athleta in Sugarhouse, and can be a little tricky to find your first time if you don't know where it is. Just walk up the stairs to the right of Athleta and you're there. They have lockers here and showers. I have my own shoes but they offer complimentary shoes. Excited to check out more classes here, but just wanted to shout out Alissa for being so welcoming!

The board takes some getting used to but it really engages your core and left my abs (and legs) feeling worked the day after! The studio offers a few varieties of classes with a spectrum of foci from more weights to more cardio. The Obsidian Strong Class was my favorite. It used a combination of barbell weights and the board to test your balance and fatigue your muscles. Great challenge. Not to mention, the staff at Obsidian is incredibly friendly as well as the patrons. Everyone is willing to help you set up and just seem happy all around to be part of a unique workout community.

I bought the Groupon to DASH and did 4 Body Combat classes to start off. Loved them. Great workout, really fun, and good instructors. Also liked the one experience I had with Body Vive. I tried one Obsidian II class and didn't love it. That was the only time I felt out of place, like I'd wandered into a class full of Lululemon dolls. I didn't get a lot of direction or friendly advice since I was obviously new to it. I never really felt like I was a part of their "community," although at least it looked like they had one. I also think that their front desk workers are a bit disorganized/not as well trained as I would have liked. I had girls act confused several times when I went in to have my class pass punched (like they couldn't figure it out), and then I had one girl accuse me of lying and said I already went to an Obsidian class (which was obviously a computer glitch) when I told her I was 100% sure I never did. I was really upset because she was so snotty to me, but luckily one of the owners intervened and said I could take the class anyway. Regardless of my satisfaction with the Body Combat classes, that last experience left a bad taste in my mouth about DASH. I won't be returning (although I had thought about purchasing a membership) and probably wouldn't recommend it to friends. I've been to other places with great instructors and classes that treat their customers really well - I don't need to be in a place that would accuse me of lying and not acknowledge a computer glitch.

It's $10 a month for one location, plus an annual fee of I believe $50? Maybe it's less, I can't remember. You can upgrade to get more perks like being able to go to all of their locations, using their tanning beds, bringing a guest for free, etc. I can't remember how much it is if you upgrade your membership, but it's still super affordable. I went into the bathroom of this location for the first time recently and was really surprised at how nice it was! Showers, a huge locker room space, clean bathrooms. Everything was really clean and in great condition. They have a ton of machines, smaller rooms for different workout circuits, and all of the barbells and dumb bells I need. The only qualm I sometimes have is that Planet Fitness lacks some fitness equipment like barbells for lifting, outside of the Smith machine and smaller barbells. But I understand that's part of their ethos here - they want to create a safe space for everyone without any intimidation in the gym. I always see other members cleaning off the equipment and keeping everything clean. I really enjoy it here!

Aggressive calling and texting, calling me on a Sunday at 9am is ridiculous. It was very unprofessional, if your club is so good then you shouldn't have to harass people to sign up. 17 text messages and 11 missed calls is very excessive. The instructor and the intro class were great, I would give her 5 stars. I would not sign up for a membership because they are too overbearing and pushy.
