F45 is a functional training gym that runs 45-minute workouts with high work-to-rest ratios (e.g., 45 seconds work, 15 seconds rest, repeat). The workouts are programmed, so you follow the instructions given for each station, but the gym has plenty of equipment, so workouts change from day to day and don't get repetitive. Mondays & Wednesdays are cardio days (though you'll still have weighted exercises), Tuesday & Thursdays are strength days (think more weight and slower reps), and Fridays - Sundays are hybrid days (combo of strength + cardio). The workouts are very challenging and will have you gassed by the end, but they're only 45 minutes, and the coaches provide modifications, so you can power through! The equipment here is great and in good condition. This location recently opened a "Recovery Room" that offers massage guns, foam rollers, and compression boots to help your body relax and recover after tough workouts -- it's amazing! The only variable at F45 (which is probably true at most gyms) is the coach you have for your workouts. Tim (who coaches Mondays and Wednesdays) is super high energy, remembers your name, corrects your form, and will encourage and push you without being overbearing -- he's the best! Other coaches will walk around the room and help spot check your form on workouts, but won't provide much motivation. And at a couple of the workouts I've been to, the coaches have just stood and talked to each other (or people from the previous workout) for the full 45 minutes. To me, this last coaching style is unacceptable, and the one piece I wish I could change. Overall, I'm very happy with this gym and would recommend it to anyone looking to improve their physical health, especially those who have limited time to work out or don't know how/don't want to program their own workouts. read more

I worked out here for quite a while. I love the vibe and the owner. 10/10 recommend getting an unlimited membership here. Get it through the gym, not class pass imo. The trainers are great and will correct your form. If you go a lot, it's about $5 a class. This is a much better deal than ClassPass and it goes to a local business owner instead of a middleman. read more

Whether it's Coach Karol dancing and telling us to "go have a high protein lunch" or Coach Tim's great energy or Coach Mikail's inspiring push ups, there is always something to push you a bit further or faster. I've been going here on and off for over five years. Gone through multiple trainers and owners, but the effectiveness of the workout has remained the same. I love how I can get a great workout over my lunch break in less than an hour. And for those not interested in a full membership, I find the 10 punch pass to be an excellent deal that gives me a ton of flexibility (a whole year to use!). read more

This really is the most amazing workout I've ever done. Staff is great...especially Brooklyn and Sam (one of the trainers). This is a HIIT gym that has just about every piece of fitness equipment available. Workouts are always different, challenging and effective. Looking forward to becoming a loyal customer. Premium membership price Not the nicest gym Lack of consistent trainers Sometimes no trainer, mine as well but a mirror or peloton... One time a manager scolded me for teeing to open door 15 minutes before class. Don't respect anything about Covid. Other members freely invade your space. Even to the point one guy wanted to pair up with his buddy and was clearly well into my workout area, zero Fs gauged my leg with a barbell. He wasn't budging, as he towered over me he gave me side eye (as I'm zero Fa). Thus I told him to F off, thereby having the instructor scold me like it's preschool for cussing despite of my ankle being injured. And yes as I left him and his buddy paired up in my station properly and the "coach" did not care! So I told him once again to F off. There should be no tolerance for bullies but if you want to be around of snotty self absorbed average people go to F45. They "terminated" my membership despite this guy whacking my leg!!!!!! I want to reiterate I stood up to a bully!!!! Haven't had a bully at a gym at Venice Golds. Equinox, or anywhere else. Go anywhere else to work out!!!!! read more

I needed a place to workout while on vacation and just wanted to BURN those extra calories! The coach Brittany was awesome! Even though I was taking 3 classes back to back, she was very professional about letting me know that I did not need to over-train like that (which I knew I was over-training-lol). That really says a lot about her character and that she really cares about individuals at this studio and just in general! If you have not taken a class at this location, Brittany ROCKS. I also took my third class with, Sam! Super nice & motivational-great presence. His class had a lot of energy too, so it was great to have the mix. So happy to have found F45 during their soft opening! This brand new studio is clean, has great equipment, and the trainers are fantastic! It is a challenging workout that changes daily so that you are never bored. That being said, any fitness level can do this workout as they provide modifications for fitness level, prior injuries, etc. I love that they use different equipment every day so you never know what you'll be doing in that workout. They have weights, rowers, cycle bikes, TRX bands, sleds, ropes, and more. Monday, Wednesday, & Friday are cardio days, Tuesday/Thursday are resistance, Saturdays are an hour long, and Sundays are a mix. I love this gym. I love the structured workouts and the rotating strength and cardio days each week. Just by going 4-5 days a week I know I'm getting a full balanced body workout. It kicks my butt in 45 minutes (or an hour on Saturdays) every time, and I never have to think about what workout I should do. I just show up, and the trainers are great. My physical ability has come a long way from coming here. As far as fees, yes it's on the expensive side. But it's worth every penny and you will see the value if you truly take advantage of your free week and go at least 4 times. I'm as cheap as they come when it comes to paying for working out, but I've been going for about 8 months steadily and it's become a part of my day. I love that there are specific class times that must be signed up for on the app, so it makes me accountable to show up. read more

Each trainer is amazing in their own ways and every exercise is different & gives you such a great workout. Also a great option that they do cardio workouts, strengthening workouts, and a mix of both so you can target exactly what you want. Checked this new gym out during their soft opening. I struggled between 2 to 3 stars but landed on 2 because I can't see myself as a return customer. Here's the good and not so good and some overall thoughts. Good: It is super clean. Nice AC in the dead of summer. TV's around the workout floor to show the exercises (but on the downside, they are pretty small so it becomes hard to see). Nice receptionist and trainer. I did a few things wrong and the trainer was helpful in correcting my movements. They are supposed to have different workouts each day, a team from overseas puts together the regimen for every F45. F45 feels like they are good at mixing up exercises so that people don't get bored, which can be important for some people. Bad: The trainer was super nice, but I love checking out gyms, and know an experienced trainer when I see one. She looks like she was just coming out of trainer training. There was very little motivation happening in between sets, besides a good job here and good job there. The best trainers are those who know how to push you just a little more. The workout itself gets boring after the first round. You do 3 rounds of 14 exercises for 35 seconds each during this exercise. Some of the moves are really not safe, especially for beginners. Like swinging your legs in between two kettle bells on the floor. I hurt my wrist doing that. I'm not a beginner and someone who doesn't know how to control my body. This place feels very bland in that there was nothing that set it apart from other national fitness gyms that do group exercises. This goes back to trainer quality. That's what sets the best gyms from the average. This place seems to be growing super fast and when that happens the quality of hires might not be the best. (I am a member at a local gym whose coaches are either former collegiate athletes are train collegiate athletes where they know their stuff). Overall comments: If you are looking for something similar to Orange Theory, then this place might be for you. I think their target market are those (mostly women judging by attendance and the lack of heavy weights) who want to get in shape and want to do it in a group environment. It seems like it might be good for those who want to lose some weight and get fit. But if you are looking to get defined and get super strong, I don't see how F45 will help you achieve that goal. I think the heaviest weight I saw was close to 60, so that should say a lot if you're looking to build strong glutes, quads, chest muscles. read more

To say I like F45 Sugarhouse is an understatement. I'm obsessed and wish that anyone looking to get in shape would try it out. Here are some of the main reasons I think F45 is the best: 1) I never get bored of the workouts. Every day is a different workout. M W F are all cardio based days... and the best part is there are no treadmills! T TH S are strength/resistance days that truly help compliment the cardio days. Saturday are an hour long and are a combination or cardio and strength. 2) The workouts are only 45 minutes and everything is set up for you. No thinking required! Show up, do the work and you're done. All the workouts have been compiled to be full body and I always leave feeling stronger and more energized than when I came. 3) It's a real community. The owners and trainers care about who you are, what your goals are and try hard to help you get there. They learn everyone's name and I truly feel that they want all their members to become the best versions of themselves. 4) They offer many different times for classes that fit with any schedule. Classes ALWAYS start on time. 5) The workouts are never boring. Yes, they are hard, but the environment is very supportive and all members encourage each other to do their best. 6) The gym is impeccably clean. Workout equipment is well taken care of and cleaned daily too. If you are contemplating trying it out, sign up for that free week and try out as many classes and trainers that you can.
