Upon going there and learning that its actually not free I decided it was a scam and left it at that. This place has not only been spamming me for over a month now but they are extremely rude when I have been asked to be removed from their list insinuating that I am unmotivated and not conscious about my overall health. Don't waste your time. Its more hassle than its worth.

I exaggerate only slightly. When I decided that enough was enough, I gave this studio a call. They just opened in March '08 - since it's so new, I was able to snag a package discount (10%) and get to work out in relative peace with my trainer. The space is new, wide-open and minimalistic, with all of the newest gadgets that usually intimidate the hell out of me. I don't really do bigger gyms at all and have worked with a personal trainer before, so I was happy to find one close to home. There are a few trainers on staff right now. I have been working with Brad, who seriously kicks (my) ass. The workouts have been tough for this little marshmallow, but I feel so great after just about a month of sessions and can definitely perceive a difference. He is certified and has a background in sports med (kinesiology? I haven't gotten into it) so he has a physiologic approach to my workouts that I appreciate. I've seen the other patrons getting their butts kicked by the other trainer there, too. Yeah, it's spendy. It's a commitment. It's worth it to me, because I am just not one of those people who enjoys the gym or is self-motivated enough to even get there. And it works! Activity always does...

I tried a "Barbell Class" with my neighbor and I had a good experience. The class size was…read moresmall-only three other people were in the class, which made for a nice environment. The trainer was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He demonstrated all movements in a way that was easy to understand and he was patient with members when they had questions. All the members were warm and welcoming. The structure of the class was clever. We did some interval warm-ups, which had twenty-five seconds of work and twenty seconds of rest. The movements included mountain climbers, bird dogs, plank holds, push-ups, and other movements. Then we did five pull-ups and ten tricep over the head extensions. Then we did some mobility work-things like lunges, cossack squats, hip rotations, and arm rotations. After that, we did bench presses with a pause at the bottom and single-arm dumbbell bent-over rows. Then we did hip thrusters and farmer carry's and we finished the workout with some barbell bicep curls, some high band side steps and some sled pushes. My muscles were definitely feeling the burn at an increasing rate as the class went on. If I had to nitpick then I would say that there wasn't enough time to complete all of the movements and the gym is small. I imagine the gym would feel crowded if there were more than five people attending a class. When we got to "event #3," which included the barbell bicep curls, high band side steps, and sled pushes, we were given only seven minutes to complete it. Because it's important to stretch at the end of a workout, I respected the time cap on this section. But, I think there should have been a time cap on all three events. That would have prevented us from feeling rushed at the end. Go check this place out! I would like to come back and try one of their kettlebell classes.

Initial impressions just trying to find the place and walking in were not what I was expecting. If you are used to walking into a Lifetime Fitness with tons of equipment, throw that idea away. Michigan Kettlebells is tucked into a small commercial and storage complex. Once you walk in, you will see this is a large renovated garage and sets the mood for the workouts to come. You will learn to love it. There is a wide variety of people who attend. Classes generally have 10-15 people in them and have a 60/40 mix of men to women. Age ranges from ~16 - 60 years old across many different skill levels from beginners to marathon runners. Everyone is very supportive and a great crowd to workout with. The workouts are different every single day I have attended, but maintain the core principal to increase general strength and fitness. This is done through Kettlebell training in additional to raw,"backyard" type of workouts such as tractor tire flipping, sand bag lifting, push ups, pull ups and everything in between. Craig, the primary instructor, is very knowledgeable and an overall great guy. His wife, Dawn, holds female only boot camp classes on Sunday which my wife attends. She is loving those as well. A third trainer Derek, is another great asset to the gym. All I can say is do yourself a favor and check this out, I am happy I did.

The 15 or 30 minute workouts were led by motivating virtual instructors. Classes included Hot Stretch, Hot Barre, Hot Yoga, Hot Pilates, Hot Cycle, and more. The structured classes made it easy to get in an efficient workout. I haven't sweated so much in a long time! In the back, there was a training area called the FX zone equipped with dumbbells, suspension straps, kettlebells, etc. As for the fine print, memberships are starting at $59/month. I am unsure about the onboarding fee. But, you must buy their branded equipment to participate such as the HOTWORX Mat and Towel. You must download the HOTWORX Burn Off app to schedule workouts. And, guests are only permitted during staff hours. Additionally, the cancellation policy requires a 60-day notice or a $99 fee for immediate termination. I'd recommend giving HOTWORX a try and see if it's a good fit for you, but as for me, the pricing turned me away.

I have been going for almost two years now and known them since they started out of their own garage. I have never felt stronger as a person and not just strength but in all around fitness and have gained much confidence in myself. They have everything you would expect from a CrossFit gym or "box." If you never have tried it, this is a great place to start. They also offer punch cards! The coaches are Randy, Yvonne and Cecelia. They are a family run business and are truly invested in helping you reach your goals of elite fitness. The number of athletes that attend this box has grown since I have started going here and they even form teams to compete locally in CrossFit competitions for those who are competitive. You will be challenged to push your limits and you won't be disappointed! They are also very good at scaling workouts to meet your level of physical fitness. I go to 6am and 8am classes mostly and it works well with my schedule. Check them out!

So about thursday! Baby, that double strength training 7pm class had me feeling like a Goddess…read moreafterwards! I was tired yet eager. I felt strong and amazing all while being ready to stop lol. With that being said i will definitely be back. The workout was just that. I was there to exercise & it felt like i had a personal trainer or 2 due to the amazing staff! They are very accommodating and considerate! And the way my body felt the next day... Who am I kidding the rest of the week for three days! I know that I'll be toned in no time. Might I add: The place is clean, cooled and very spacious !

This has been my primary gym for the last 3 years and I've loved every moment of it. The members…read moreand the community has become a second family to me. The coaches are highly knowledgeable, will ensure you are appropriately trained if you are unfamiliar with specific movements, and will keep you motivated as you go through the workout. All the scheduled workouts are conducted in a group environment so you'll be doing what everyone else it. Since leaving active duty, I've missed working out in a group. This has been a perfect resolution and I've made many friends a long the way. If you ever questioned checking out CrossFit, my recommendation is to stop on by and see what you've been missing out on. I've seen all ages and many different skill levels. All have been welcome to include drop in's from other gyms and locations. What do you have to lose? (Besides a few pounds)
