I had an issue with my 2007 BMW X5 that had been plaguing me for years which was this intermittently loud ticking sound that was coming from the rear axle. I had taken it to 2 repair shops + a BMW dealership (Rockville) and they either could not figure it out or completely misdiagnosed the problem. One specialty BMW shop I took the car to 3 times and they still were not able to fix the problem which ended up wasting a lot of my time.. I was at my wits end and I asked my brother in-law for advice. He recommended Fa-Rina. They quickly diagnosed the problem, got the parts and had the car fixed and the issue resolved within 24 hours for ¼ the price that the BMW dealership was going to charge for their mis-diagnosed repair option. I took my car AC not cooling. The mechanic said the condenser and receiver need to be replaced to be replaced and costs close to $ $800. It took two days to get the parts and a third day for repair. I picked up the car after three days and drove home to find the AC is still blowing hot air. They told me to return the car on Monday to be checked. When my husband's 2014 Dodge Durango A/C went out- he took his truck to a dealer to quoted him $185 just to examine what was wrong. I told him we would try Fa-Rina first. I googled estimates on what I would expect to pay and Fa-Rina's estimate was comparable to what I found. Since it's been some years since I have visited, there's a gentlemen that I don't recall now at the front desk. He was very kind and soon as I learned that he was wearing a Steeler's face covering (it was a freebie), but his team was really the Seahawks, I felt like he was my friend :) Great service and they saved me 10% with the Seahawks family discount! I took my Mercedes to Farina in November of 2009 to get repairs done to my Active Body Control System. I loved my car and wanted to keep it even though this was an expensive decision. I specifically asked them could they do the job because I was really considering taking the car to Mercedes. I also asked them how long the job would take. They told me 1 week and yes they could do the job. I left my car at the shop in November to get the repairs done. Three weeks later my car was suppose to be ready. I went to pick up the car and the light was still coming on for the ABC system. They assured me that there was one bad sensor that needed to be replaced and that it would be taken care of soon as the part came in. When I picked up my car a couple weeks later the battery was dead. I picked up the keys and went out to the car and the car wouldnt start. The battery was dead! This is when my warning bells started going off. 4 months later after taking the care back to Farina several times with the sensor replaced, the ABC system still bad and $8600 out of pocket, I took the car to the Mercedes dealer and the dealer tells me that there is a bad pump and whoever did the work did not replace it.There was hydrolic fluid everywhere and all over the engine. I took the car back to Farina and they agreed to replace the pump but argued that wasn't part of the system. I argued back and told them this would be the heart of the ABC system because its where the fluid for the hydrolics comes from. I get the pump replaced by Farina and still I am having the same issues with the car leaning. So in September of 2010 I took the car a final time and Farina tells me that one of the struts is bad and I will have to go to the dealer in Virginia where they bought the part to get it replaced. I was livid at this point! I took the car there, taking off a day from work and the dealer tells me they can't do it. I get my car back and go home. I call Farina and tell them what happened and they get it arranged. Long story short, I get the car back and it drives well. Took almost a year to get this work finished and I really to this day don't think they knew what they were doing. I have several stories about this repair facility that leads me to believe that this is not a good place to go for repairs. Several friends and one family member have had issues where they take the car to be repaired and then they go back to the dealer the next time and the dealer tells them nothing was replaced. I have heard this over and over again. If I was anyone wanting to get their car repaired. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I will never ever go back there after the way they treated my mom's Mercedes. You think your getting a deal because of the price but they arean't doing all that needs to be done. I see these guys doing commercials for their services. Please make sure you check the work done on your car. They patch job your car and never fix the problem. Then you go to another establishment and you find this out and pay again. Don't get caught in this scenario like I did and other friends and family. Not worth it. read more

Literally, almost EVERYONE in my immediate family gets their vehicle serviced at Farina! It is HANDS DOWN, the best auto service in the area. Tony is one of the best mechanics in the area. The reason I love him so much are similar to the other positive reviews. He does not give you the run around and he tells it like it is. If there are options, he will give them to you, one by one: 1. the cheap/ quick fix option (what could get you by temporarily), 2. the middle option (something that would last longer but not permanent), 3. and the most expensive option (the full fix of whatever the issue is). And then, he will give you his recommendation of what you should do. If he only gives 1 option, it's because that's probably all you have. I alwaysss trust his advice because he treats me as if I were one of his kids or someone in his family. He's never steered me wrong or overcharged. And trust me, there have been times when I've attempted going elsewhere to compare when I wasn't sure. Going somewhere else has never, ever panned out. I specifically asked Farina over the phone if they could deal with computer issues because my car wouldn't start and I suspected it was computer related and they said YES. I towed my car there for $100, they charged $80 to look at it and tell me that they can't deal with the computer issue. And now I have to tow it to a dealer for another $100 +. I would give Farina 10 stars if I could. I have never met more honest mechanics. I have been taking my car to them since October 2009. Once I was quoted a price for the work and agreed to pay the quoted price. When it came time to pay I was charged $50 less because he had made a mathematical error when adding up the quote. I agreed to the original price, he didn't have to do the right thing, but he did. Another thing I appreciate about Farina is that they don't dirty up my car when working on it. I don't find greasy hand prints on my car's finish or interior...in fact, if you look at their tools and hands they always look clean. I have never had a problem with their work. I have seen them drive people to the Marc train station when requested. Once when my budget was a concern they told me what I should do immediately and what could wait. I really appreciate these guys and I'm surprised to see any bad reviews. I'm not sure of their current status, but in the recent past Farina has been rated very well on Washington Consumer's Checkbook...and that means a lot. read more
