They see the child as a whole person and not just a cough or a rash. I have often had to wait (ex a 2pm appointment can often turn into a 3pm appointment or once for me, even turned into a 4pm appointment when a child with an urgent issue came in). If you hate to wait (or have a tight schedule), it might be frustrating. When my child is sick or has an issue - I don't want to feel like I have to go home and look things up on the internet to confirm the pediatrician gave me all the options and was up on the most current guidelines, research etc. I trust Westchester Pediatrics to tell me what I need to know and that's it. For an anxious mom who is a compulsive looker up of things, that's huge. I trust the care - no need to look anything up.

Most of all, the admin staff is poor. The office has a small army of admins who run cover for the doctors. They do not communicate with each other, are disorganized and come off as annoyed when talking to you. Even the most patient families will feel frustration in dealing with the office and should be prepared to follow up vigilantly as they will NOT call you back. The office's apathy and lack of urgency is so severe it borders on dangerous for the kids. One of our kids has an allergy and it was a process to get him the prescription he needed in case he had a reaction. We felt we had no choice but to leave. Good riddance and beware of this pediatric practice.

They generally avoid over prescribing medication, which could be frustrating for some parents, but probably is best practice for the child over the long run. When my son had an emergency illness and was subsequently hospitalized for three days, they kept in constant with me and the hospital to stay fully informed of his situation. I want to give special praise to one doctor in particular, Dr. David Costabile. He is extremely patient, listens to your concerns and thoroughly addresses all your questions no matter how minute. He explains everything in layman's terms and never throws medical jargon in your face. He has been the best health care profession that I've ever dealt with.

He's also a really excellent clinician who picked up early on my daughter's mild heart murmur and an astigmatism through routine physicals. The office is very responsive and has always fitted us in quickly for issues of concern, as well as helping fix appointments with specialists when needed. Only two minor quibbles: they do keep you waiting for routine visits, at least 30 mins in my experience (Dr Roye especially seems to run late perhaps bc she spends extra time with young patients!). Tedious with a newborn. Also one thing for nursing moms: I found that like with other doctors, there is some pressure here for newborns to regain birth weight faster than breastfeeding often allows; it's helpful to come armed with an opinion from your lactation consultant. All in, we are really happy with the practice and would not change.

I called Riverside Pediatrics and they were able to get us an appointment that afternoon. The staff was efficient and courteous. Once in the office I hardly had time to sit down before the doctor was attending to us. (Amazing!) As for treatment: Dr. Bansilal's bedside manner was absolutely superb! She was gentle, firm, and professional. In less than a minute my 2-year-old daughter, who has appropriate stranger danger, was totally comfortable with her and was following her instructions. Riverside Pediatrics is clean and welcoming. They have a well room for children who aren't sick to wait in. There are magazines for adults, books and toys for children, and the Kids Netflix is always on for the children in the waiting room. There is plenty of seating while waiting. The women at the front desk are very nice and the check ins are always quick. The pediatricians are great with the kids and are always able to answer any questions on the dot. The professionalism is outstanding. If I were to ever have children, I would trust this location to be my kid's pediatrician.
