Can't begin to explain how DELICIOUS everything was at this restaurant. We didn't have reservations but they accommodated us. When we sat down, we noticed we were at an Italian restaurant. At first thought it was weird to be eating at a Italian restaurant in Vienna but decided to stay anyways. We started with aperitifs, followed by appetizers and main course, and then desert (was so good just wanted to keep eating! ). Everything was absolutely superb! Service was ok but I think the language barrier added to the dryness of the waiter. They charged 3.50 Euros cover charge per person which I thought was strange but didn't really question it. Highly recommend going there when in Vienna!

Fabios is a classy, upscale Italian restaurant in the heart of Vienna's first district, serving exquisite Italian cuisine. As most of the restaurants I rate, the rating is based on taste of the food only and should be compared only with other local restaurants in Vienna (not New York City, as it would rate differently). Here we go: - Agnolotti verdi ripeni - homemade green agnolotti filled with mascarpone. Very delicate and subtle dish. The agnolotti were cooked perfectly and are served is emulsified butter-sage sauce with roasted hazelnuts. It's one of these dishes that you can have either as an appetizer or as a main course. - Burrata with tomatoes and basil (kind of a very fancy caprese). Excellent. Tomatoes are tossed with lemon which brightens up the flavor and and balances the mild flavor of the burrata. - Homemade Tagliatelle with salsiccia (Italian sausage) in a white wine and butter sauce. A rustic dish that bursts with flavor. Worth going there for this dish alone. - Homemade eggplant gnocchi with tomato rucola sauce. Gnocchi melt in your mouth. A great combination of flavors making a very elegant and well composed dish. The service is probably one of the best in the entire city. So far, one of my top 3 Italian restaurants in Vienna.

Great food and service. Just the noise from the construction site around them is a bit of an inconvenience. A definite thumbs up though.

Not a huge selection of items, but what they do have is very filling, and includes different sauces to spice it up, if you like. The drinks menu, though, is pretty extensive. (I was overjoyed to find that they had Malibu.) Tasty selection of Israeli wine, as well as a fantastic hot chocolate with rum for cold days. Downsides: There's little room to sit inside, which discourages big groups. Not a problem in summer, though, since they set up tables on the sidewalk. The service is another story. The servers tend to push by without apology and can be unfriendly and impatient. But I go to Maschu for the food, not to chat up the waiter, so this doesn't bother me. This is only the servers - the two guys who cook and work behind the counter (one also sometimes serves) are always friendly and quick to laugh. I DO go to chat with them. :) Also, watch the prices: The menu items on the Neubaugasse site can sometimes be a few more euros than the same items at the Schwedenplatz location.

We were greeted warmly at the door and asked if we had a reservation, which we did not, that did not prevent us from getting a seat in the main dining area. The eggplant tasted to me like olives. The pita was fresh but somewhat chewy. I enjoyed a dessert that was a rectangular bar of semolina in honey or rosewater, topped with cashews and pistachios. I pointed to it in the dessert showcase near the front door. Elegant interior, tables spaced nicely. Near Stadtpark.
