Fable Hollow is such a gem--part bookshop, part coffee/specialty drinks spot, and all-around cozy vibe. The space is super cute with tons of little nooks to sit and hang out, plus outdoor seating if you've got a fluffy friend with you. I was honestly so into the atmosphere that I forgot to take a picture of my drink... which says a lot. Loved every bit of this place and definitely one I'll keep coming back to. read more

I was very excited to come here today on a family trip. I saved it when I saw a TikTok about it. In the beginning, it was exactly what I was hoping for--vibe, merchandise, coffee, etc. I was so happy to be there. However, once I ordered my coffee and sat to wait for it, I was very disappointed in the baristas' exceptionally loud, derogatory political remarks. Had I not already paid for my merchandise and coffee, I would've left immediately. As a well-read, educated and tolerant female who respects the values of others no matter if they share my beliefs or not, I can not imagine everyone who shops here is of the same political affiliations. Fantasy is for everyone, and I was really disappointed in their lack of inclusivity. America is a place where people can disagree and not be ostracized or made to feel less than because of their convictions. Knoxville has needed a good independent bookstore. It was definitely worth the wait because this is a great one. Fable Hollow has an excellent selection of books, cards, gifts, and other items. They offer a café with various drinks and other offerings. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They have meeting rooms where you can conduct book groups and discussions. Fantastic little coffee shop with loads of books, two of my favorite things! Seems like the perfect place to get comfortable with a warm drink and a good book. So I have been in Fable Hollow numerous times and have always had a great experience, actually loved the concept the atmosphere, just the whole vibe. But not today! I walked in to a man having a very LOUD conversation with someone at his table about only making minimum wage, etc. No staff greeted me, or asked if I needed any help. So I strolled along and browsed the store. I watched 2 staff members busy themselves with making coffee's and calling out crazy names for customers to pick up their drinks. Again never being acknowledged. I found a book I wanted and proceeded to the counter. Staff said " just the book" I replied yes please. Then I was asked if I was a member of the Knighthood. I replied I'm not sure what is that? Then I was asked my phone number, which staff pulled up my account showing several purchases and books I had ordered. She said, you are no member, it's a paid membership. I just said "ok". No other details given. I was told my total, prompted to tip (which I didn't) handed my receipt and dismissed. I'm not sure I will go back. Just not the friendly bookstore on the corner I remembered when they first opened. I appeared that this was more a coffee shop vs an inviting bookstore. Fable Hollow is by far my favorite bookstore in Knoxville. The drinks are excellent (if you're looking for a seasonal and here in fall, try the Fireside Chai, it's amazing). The service is exceptionally friendly and passionate about books-- if you're uncertain about what you're looking for, they'll happily chat with you about their recommendations. It seems well-ran and they can order books that are not in store for you. The atmosphere is wonderful. They have nice, quiet rooms for sitting and studying, clean bathrooms and outdoor seating. This place is beyond adorable. They have quick and tasty coffee service BUT the vibe is the thing. How can you not live a fantasy theme with trees and nooks galore. There are two study rooms for more privacy and focus and plenty of comfy chairs and couches to sip your drink and start a new book. Their prices are reasonable and selection is curated without being too niche for book lovers. I picked up a board book version of paper bag Princess for my niece. I'd wager that no city in the USA has enough independent bookstores, except maybe New York--and this is not New York--so welcome to Knoxville (Fountain City, to be precise), Fable Hollow Bookshoppe! My wife and I have visited you every Saturday since you opened in early 2023, for a coffee date. I cannot tell you what a pleasure it is to enjoy tasty drinks (and some are unique creations that change monthly) at quite reasonable prices, and in an environment that calms our souls. The care with which the entire establishment has been decorated is everywhere to be enjoyed, from the "Pixie Burrow" children's room to the inviting fireplace in the back, to each little nook filled with books for the browsing. The only thing I can see that's missing is a cat, which of course is not enough of a problem to keep me from rating everything a total five star experience. Come and browse, Knoxville. . .you'll find coffee, books, and surprises (gifts! jewelry! candles! puzzles!) in store for you at Fable Hollow. There's nowhere else in town like it! read more

Decent cafe/bookstore, but the people who run it seem to have no idea how to run it. I walked up to the register, and the clerk just stared at me, as if saying, "What the heck do you want?" This is the coolest bookstore I've ever been to!! They have amazing coffee drinks and everything is so beautiful!

It's no secret that independent booksellers are more expensive than Amazon or big box stores. They have to be. (Amazon only gets away with it because they're crooks) But I was pleasantly surprised with the prices. I got a sticker book of the most GORGEOUS bird stickers a few days ago and it was 675 stickers for 15$! As a sticker enthusiast: what a steal! The atmosphere of the store is phenomenal. As soon as I walked in the first time I wanted to live there forever. I still have to force myself to leave. The decor is great and the tables and seats are arranged so perfectly, so you have the feeling of being in a cafe and bookstore without the awkwardness of everyone sitting at one large table like some cafes are arranged. The drinks are great as well! I am not a coffee drinker at all, so you can imagine my struggles in cafes where the only option is an overbrewed, unsweetened, black Lipton tea. Not here!! They have several tea and soda drinks. I'm a big fan of the iced London fog. The staff are so sweet. They are all friendly and welcoming. The only negative experience I've ever had was when I was asking about the Fable Hollow tea blend. I have a massive sweet tooth and the staff member I asked about said it was a sweet berry flavor, so I got it with honey added. It wasn't sweet and tasted a lot like elderberries because it was so tart. I could definitely see how someone could enjoy it but it was not what I bargained for at all and I was pretty disappointed. Still definitely a 5/5 starred place. There's a lot of cafe competition in fountain city (not enough bookstores though) but this place is definitely worth a stop by! read more
