Installation Trauma…read more I was extremely disappointed by the service provided by Carpet One Floor and Home located in Jacksonville Beach. First, the installers were more than one hour late. Second, the lead installer wanted me to sign the completed work order before the work was completed. The door was not hung, the furniture was returned, and I had not inspected the installation. After calling the salesperson, the installers begrudgingly hung the door and returned the furniture. The lead installer stated, "I've done my good deed for the day." I was confused because my installation included furniture removal. After the installers left, I noticed dirty handprints left on my doors which I had to clean. Thirdly, upon their arrival I asked the installers to wear a mask. I could overhear one installer say "Are we still doing that?" Fourth, when I tried to vacuum the rug it was extremely difficult to push my vacuum over the carpet and the vacuum basket was full of carpet shedding. When I called the sales person she indicated that was normal. When I read the warranty pamphlet I found that this carpet required a specific vacuum due to its soft strands. A regular vacuum could damage the strands. Finally, the manager left a voice message apologizing for being late, failing to address the behavior of the installers. When I phoned the sales manager to discuss this matter and my experience, he never returned my phone call.

At 2:00 p.m., I called to find out what had happened and was told that the salesperson had noted that I was "not at home." That is completely false. I work from home and was here the entire time waiting for the appointment. Later, I received a call from the service/sales manager, who said he had spoken with the salesperson and was told that he had called me. That is also untrue. I received no phone call, voicemail, or missed call from anyone at Empire Today. This experience was extremely frustrating and a complete waste of my time. Because of the inaccurate information and poor customer service, I have no interest in rescheduling my appointment. I expected better communication and professionalism.

Title: Avoid Empire Flooring at All Costs - A Costly Nightmare from Start to Finish…read more Review: In December 2023, I paid over $22,000 to have my floors installed by Empire Flooring. Within months, I noticed the baseboards lifting from the walls throughout my entire home. A contractor later explained that Empire installed the quarter round too tight against the flooring, causing the lifting issue. When I called Empire in March 2025, they informed me that my installation warranty had expired just three months earlier. Even worse, I had purchased a $2,000 extended warranty, which I later learned only covers accidental damage--not installation errors. Absolutely unbelievable. That alone was bad enough--but the story gets worse. After a kitchen flood damaged about 200 square feet of flooring, I paid $3,600 for repairs. In the middle of the repair, the installation manager abruptly ordered the crew to leave, claiming that my original flooring was installed incorrectly and that my continuous flooring layout violated the manufacturer's warranty--even though Empire themselves installed it that way! He insisted that they would only proceed if I agreed to add five transitions in doorways and an 18-foot transition strip across the middle of my great room. When I refused to accept that ridiculous "solution," they walked off the job. After multiple complaints to corporate, Empire finally offered to replace all my flooring for $10,000 since they no longer carry my original material. I agreed, set an install date, and took off work... but no one showed up. The sales rep stopped responding, and now, as of October 2025, I've lost two days of work and still have no completed floor. I've given this company every opportunity to make things right, and they have failed miserably at every turn. If you value your home, your time, or your sanity--DO NOT hire Empire Flooring. I wish I never had.

And after the floors are installed like a DIY project, you tell them from day one there's been cupping and uneven dips in the floor all over. They're gonna tell you it's your problem and offer to correct it at your expense. Literally told me I would have to PAY THEM TO HAVE MY FLOORS DONE ALL OVER AGAIN THE RIGHT WAY. Shane is nothing more than a scammer. He came to my house and instantly saw how poor of a job his guys did and then later tried to blame the foundation of my home. A brand new construction home, might I add. Saying it's a moisture issue. But could never fully explain how it wasn't detected when they did a "moisture test that detected no high levels of moisture. He never addressed why if it was truly a moisture issue, shouldn't that be something that happens over time? Why would my flooring having cupping issues and dips/uneven floors from day one of the floors being installed? Being so naive, I thought floors had to settle. But nope. Just a horrible job from a janky business that doesn't take ownership of their mistakes. Just took thousands of dollars from me and blamed it on my house. Don't ever trust these people. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
