Mike's wasn't the lowest bid, but it was the only one without contingencies, and the only one which stated up front that his crew would remove the old tile floor, repair any underlying issues with the subfloor, and level it before installing the new luxury vinyl planks. Plus we felt comfortable after meeting him about the plan and the quality of the materials/work. It took about two weeks after signing up to get the planks ordered/delivered, and then set a time to do the installation. A two-man crew showed up around 8:30 a.m., gave me some updates along the way to show what was happening (and ask some important questions I hadn't considered, like which way the new planks should run), and they finished installing the flooring and the quarterround by about 11:30 a.m. Everything looks great, and we are very happy.

Installation Trauma…read more I was extremely disappointed by the service provided by Carpet One Floor and Home located in Jacksonville Beach. First, the installers were more than one hour late. Second, the lead installer wanted me to sign the completed work order before the work was completed. The door was not hung, the furniture was returned, and I had not inspected the installation. After calling the salesperson, the installers begrudgingly hung the door and returned the furniture. The lead installer stated, "I've done my good deed for the day." I was confused because my installation included furniture removal. After the installers left, I noticed dirty handprints left on my doors which I had to clean. Thirdly, upon their arrival I asked the installers to wear a mask. I could overhear one installer say "Are we still doing that?" Fourth, when I tried to vacuum the rug it was extremely difficult to push my vacuum over the carpet and the vacuum basket was full of carpet shedding. When I called the sales person she indicated that was normal. When I read the warranty pamphlet I found that this carpet required a specific vacuum due to its soft strands. A regular vacuum could damage the strands. Finally, the manager left a voice message apologizing for being late, failing to address the behavior of the installers. When I phoned the sales manager to discuss this matter and my experience, he never returned my phone call.

I work from home and was here the entire time waiting for the appointment. Later, I received a call from the service/sales manager, who said he had spoken with the salesperson and was told that he had called me. That is also untrue. I received no phone call, voicemail, or missed call from anyone at Empire Today. This experience was extremely frustrating and a complete waste of my time. Because of the inaccurate information and poor customer service, I have no interest in rescheduling my appointment. I expected better communication and professionalism.

Mind you, I have a ring camera in front of my home and no one was ever parked in front of my house for even 30 seconds. We were told someone would call us back to reschedule yesterday - as of 1 PM today, still no call. So, I called and was informed they placed us on the schedule for 9/21, again without informing or asking, making it over TWO WEEKS that the job is still not completed. I have had exposed concrete in my home with a toddler, mind you, for over a week at this point. We had planned on using Empire to complete the rest of our home, but at this point we have ZERO confidence that they will even show up to finish the job they started. Unreliable. Unprofessional. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I bought garbage because the way that it was installed by a friend trying to assist me, within a few years the Floor ended up splitting and breaking. It was very easy to just come in and pull up the pieces. I finally decided to call Andrew to come in and look at it. I was extremely embarrassed that I didn't use him from the get go and explained that my buddy assisted he and he cost me nearly nothing. Unfortunately that caused me a lot of problems as Andrew pointed them all out. In either case trying to save me money cost me twice the originally amount so Inlearned a value able lesson when II comes to your home never substitute quality for cheapness. So Andrew came with me and helped me pick out new flooring. We picked out a great product that was extremely reasonable but what I liked more than anything it was 20 mil thick versus 12 and I never understood the significance of that until now. It's unbelievable walking on floor. It's a totally different experience. When it comes to your home never cut corners and if you don't understand the product never take the word of a salesman. Get someone who knows and listen to what they have to say. Andrew is that guy and his work is awesome. I can't tell you how happy I am. I will be calling him back shortly for the next project!!!!

Originally I contracted another flooring installer who canceled on me multiple times. Then a neighbor of mine recommended The Flooring Craftsman. I spoke with Andrew who Is the owner. He arrived on time for the initial estimate. Also made a recommendation for a different type flooring. Which was more cost effective, and a better selection for a rental property. I'm very pleased and would highly recommend them !!
