I visited all three shops to find just the right fit. I found it. This shop is BIG. You don't feel crowded and claustrophobic when you are searching for fabrics. There a large windows so the lighting is perfect for seeing true colors. I have always been greeted when I walk through the door. There are a lot of employees but I didn't feel pressured or rushed to make a selection. On the contrary, as I was auditioning a couple of options I had multiple employees walk over and give my choices a "look" and they offered their opinions, which I found helpful. Amy is a COMPLETE GEM. Her classes are so worthd taking. The other huge plus is that she has an educational YouTube page where she posts many videos to continue your education from the shop to your home. How many times have I had a great experience in a class somewhere else, only to get home and forget a key step when I try to make the project? That isn't an issue with Amy's classes. She has so many videos to help refresh your memory. I will be back again, and again, and again. d

First, Google listed the opening time as 10 a.m., but the store did not open until 11. We had driven from Baltimore to get ahead of bad weather, tried calling multiple times, and found the voicemail full. There's no website to confirm hours, so we were left guessing whether to wait. Once inside, we spent nearly two hours selecting eight fabrics for multiple projects. Many fabrics were not priced, and the single employee cutting fabric had to repeatedly walk to the front of the store to ask the owner for pricing or answers to basic questions, which made the process extremely slow. The final issue was a large-print fabric that had deep slashes running several yards into the roll, along with visible black marks. I asked that the damaged portion be cut off or that cutting begin from the other end of the roll. The owner refused and told me that if I didn't like it, I didn't have to buy it, stating multiple times that they are a "for profit store." I have over 50 years of experience buying fabric and have never been expected to pay for clearly damaged yardage. We ultimately walked out without purchasing anything, leaving eight rolls at the cutting table--well over $1,000 in sales lost. It's disappointing to see how much this store has changed. It was once staffed by knowledgeable, helpful people who wanted to assist customers. I won't be returning.

Every time I have shopped in the past, I've been told that nothing in the remnant box is over $4.99 a yard. But, the woman insisted that it was still $8.99 a yard and she didn't know how that piece got in the remnant box. OK... Shady AF...No sale! Had she done the right thing, she would've made a very large sale because I needed fabric for multiple projects. Instead, I went to the Fabric Basement in Alexandria and was treated very fairly and got some quality fabrics. I do miss the previous owner, rest in peace, because he was a very honorable and my family frequented this store for about 40 years with no issues.
