I have tried twice in the past to do it at home I have the custom trays and all. I usually only lasted a few days 2mwith at home as with each application my teeth became more and more sensitive. The dentist said that in office whitening is 10 time worse for pain in cases like mine. My theory is that I would prefer one day of intense pain vs days and days of wearing trays and having pain. I googled teeth whitening and one of the options that came up was Glitz. I read all the info on the sight and decided to make an appointment. I had a cleaning in the 7th so I booked my whitening session for the 11th figured it was best to start with the cleanest teeth possible. Also when I booked my teeth whitening I decided I would try the Hydration Station and booked a combo package. When I arrived the studio was bright an spacious. If I didn't actually walk down stairs I wouldn't have guessed this was a basement of an low rise office building. I was given my waivers to read and sign and whisked into the lounge where I would complete my whitening. The procedure was explained to me and I was told it would be done in 2 15 min sessions so that if I did have any discomfort I could choose not to do session #2. During session one I felt no pain just a slight tingling on my gums which happens with Crest strips or gel in trays. At 15 min we evaluated my progress and I continued with the final session. The lounge chairs are very comfy. There is a TV in the room to watch shows/movies but it was hard to see with the protective eyewear so I just laid back an enjoyed the quiet. I was taken to the room with the Hydration Station and again everything was explained to me. I have NO idea why I wanted to try this as I don't like heat. I don't go into saunas or steam rooms but I was intrigued. I found this to be enjoyable. I think b/c my face was free from the heat and steam I was able to enjoy the benefits. That is generally why I avoid the steam rooms at spas etc as I like to breath freely. At home I don't even enjoy a steamy bathroom I leave the door WIDE open. Anyway my 30 min session was over before a knew it and I felt a lil sad. I even turned up the heat in the last 10 min as I was enjoying it! I was told that depending on my eating and drinking habits my whitening could be redone in 3-6 months. I think I will come every 6 months after my dental cleanings just like I did this time. However I will be back for the Hydration Station before that!

The products used were so gentle on my hair and really were conditioning to my hair. The color turned out natural enough but still trendy. It turned out better than I hoped for! My haircut was awesome too. She asked me what I ussually do and cut my hair depending on my maintenance needs!!! No other stylist has asked me that before...I'm super lowkey. I honestly let my hair air dry every day (it's all about the fabulous cut!). But my cut was done to perfection. It was an updated twist on my usual cut and made me look at least 5 years younger. Im old. So I'll take any improvements!!! They use high end products and I ended up buying some ombre products which are top of the line stuff. They also do eyelashes, pedicures, manicures, waxing and even make their own custom lipsticks. I tried one and the all natural oils used really moisturized my lips! Spoil yourself here. I have been going to Mimosa since they opened in March 2010 and have experienced several exceptional services - pedicure, facial, manicure, and waxing to name a few. All of the staff are professionally trained and extremely knowledgeable of all the services offered. I had returned from a 4 month trip to a more humid climate (let's be honest, it is hard to go somewhere that isn't more humid then Edmonton) and was having trouble with breakouts on my face - I didn't know which facial would be best. But I didn't need to worry as the owner was able to tailor a facial specifically to my needs. I was very impressed with the results and feel that helped my skin adjust overall to being back in Edmonton. My favorite service is the pedicure. You can select between several options - I generally go with the Express Pedicure and then every once in a while spoil myself and splurge on the Signature Pedicure. They have the big relaxing massage chairs so the whole time your feet and lower legs are being pampered you can also be enjoying a back and neck massage. Mimosa also offer a membership for regular visitors - the membership has several benefits including discounts on all services so I think it is worth it even if you only go a couple times in a year. I love Mimosa and will continue to return regularly. I have also referred family and friends and they have all had the same wonderful experience as I do.

Front counter staff are the first and last point of contact at an establishment like a hair salon -…read morewhich is exactly why it is CRUCIAL for these staff to be properly trained on how to handle unusual/difficult customer service situations. I find all too often that front counter staff are pretty good at handling the day to day customer service interactions - throw a curve ball at them though, and, more often than not, they completely drop the ball!!! I am currently growing out my hair and only require a trim and some touch ups every 2 months or so. Since I absolutely love the more dramatic cuts and colourings I have received at Roxx, I didn't mind too much coughing up the $65 bucks for a trim to support a business who had been good to me thus far, so after procrastinating for way too long, I decided it was time for a trim. On Friday morning I call them up to book an appointment for 4:45pm that day. I work literally across the street from this place; so by the time I left work at 4:30 and got to Roxx it was 4:32. I checked in (even mentioning that I knew I was a bit early) and then proceeded to take a seat (on the couch right in front of the front counter). At about 4:45 or so, another lady walks in to check in for her appointment. Immediately after she checked in, the stylist I ALWAYS am assigned to comes out, immediately recognizes the woman, and takes her to the back for her appointment. Thinking nothing more of it than it being interesting that I wasn't getting the same stylist as normal, I continued to wait. At 4:55pm (10 mins past my appointment time), I go up to the front counter staff to ask what the delay was - again keeping in mind I am sitting right in front of their faces so it's not like they didn't know I was STILL WAITING! My question "soooo, is the stylist just running a little behind or.....?" took the young lady completely off guard as she immediately agrees with my assumption with a look of bewilderment on her face; "oh yes, just a bit late, shouldn't be more than another 5 mins." I go back to sit, as the same lady walks past me saying "you know what, I am just going to check." She comes back to tell me that it is going to be another 15 20 mins (keeping in mind it is already 15 minutes past my time). At this point it was quite obvious that someone had screwed up somewhere along the line and the appointment scheduled for after me was taken before me. This is not the problem - these things happen and I can understand that (being that I have worked in customer service my entire career so far). The problem is that I am now completely frustrated that you had wasted my time when I would have loved to be anywhere but there on a sunny Friday afternoon. An apology is nice, and she really did seem to feel bad. But here's where it all went wrong: Her: "Would you like to wait?" Me: "No, I think I'm just going to cancel" Her: Ok, would you like to re-book?" Me: "No thank you" Her: "Ok, well sorry about that." Since I am not one to make a scene in these types of situations, I am quietly thinking 'Dammit, now I need to find a new hair salon." Had the nice young lady come clean, told me that they had made mistake, and had she done something to make up for it (discount, no charge for the wash, anything......), I would have said, "yes, I'll wait" or "sure, I guess I'll just re-book for next week." Instead, I will likely not be back. We have all heard the saying that actions speak louder than words; in this case, (im)proper customer service training speaks louder than a fancily decorated salon.
