I've had both lash lift & tint and classic lash services done by Lindsay at this downtown Fabutan location, and she has been awesome every time! She takes the time to make sure everything is done properly and always follows up afterward to make sure I'm happy with the results. What I especially appreciate is how honest, professional, and flexible she is. If something doesn't work quite as expected, she will help find a better solution. Ever since new ownership has taken over, this place has become a complete dump... half completed and poorly done renovations with dollar store decor, and honestly, it's just straight up dirty now. It's shocking. I don't understand why they would spend money trying to renovate a perfectly nice, previously very clean studio. I wouldn't recommend you go here for your lashes. I booked online with Emma because she had a 4.7 review and when I checked in they gave me a different lash tech Jasmine. I asked to explain why she wasn't doing my lashes and she just brushed me off and said that if she's not available then the next person avail will take me. What if I didn't want anyone else? Fuck I ended up there over 2 hours and I have the worst lashes. Not even a classic set and they are long and clumpy. There was big gaps and she tried to fix this and ended up gluing my lash to my bottom of skin. Had to get another lady to come and touch my face with her hands and take it apart. So disappointing!!! This is by far the best location I have been to for tanning. It is so clean, they provide lots of towels, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The only item is there is not free parking so you need to pay for street parking or a impark lot downtown. But we'll worth it for the great service and experience in my opinion. read more

I have always loved this location great professional staff. The selection of lotions is always ample. They provide a bunch of lil extras that make your tanning experience more convenient and pleasant. Always a nice enjoyable experience. Makes me regret purchasing my package and lotion at another location. Although you can tan at any location I much woulda rather gave her my direct business than the Capilano location. I found the Capilano location to be pushy, unprofessional and not very accommodating. They don't have a water cooler for when you come out of the hot beds, the lotion selection was very poor, no wet wipes for the lotions with bronzers, seems like they don't want to spend any extra money for the customer's convenience, among other things the attitude of one of the attendants was unprofessional and immature. I always thought that Fabutan was one of those evil organizations that was trying to monopolize a niche market. But this location of Fabutan changed my mind. Every tanning salon I've been to has pushed me in and out and never bothered to smile or chat. The Jasper Ave location of Fabutan has an incredible girl working there named Tara. If they know what's good for them - they won't ever let her go! Tara knows the names of practically everyone who tans there. She is always smiling, always friendly, always fun. She really makes it a great experience. She even remembers people's vacation dates (since a lot of people come in for a base tan before going on vacation) and she is an absolute delight! The service at this location is very good but I have a couple of issues with some of the corporate mandated practices: (1) I don't appreciate staff playing nazi with my choice of lotion or safety glasses. Ask once if you insist but do we have to go through this during every visit at every location? (2) Access to all the locations is the biggest selling point but upgrade your CRM to accommodate this. I love this salon so much - I have been tanning here since I moved downtown many years ago and never had a desire to switch. This salon is spotless and bulbs are changed frequently! The owner remembers everyone by name and is a pleasure to talk too. Highly recommend for anyone that wants a beautiful glow! Also their spray tan machines work great and I believe they have had a deal going on for awhile buy one get one for only $30. UPDATE- Recently started using their red light bed and it is amazing!! I have acne and I am already starting to see a difference after one month of going. My scarring is also starting to disappear ... if you have not tried their red light bed you need too!! read more

So have been going tanning at old strathcona location ( Edmonton ) for about a month...today when I went for my tanning session I walk in there is no one in there that I could see except the girl working there.She asked if I had an appointment, I told her no...she then said well then you have to wait about 10 minutes I have to fill all these cleaning bottles and clean all the beds. Ummmm says I aren't you holding a bottle with about 1/4 - 1/2 of cleaning solution you can go can 1 bed...oh you don't understand she says we were just really busy. What a UNDERSTAND as a person who works in customer service myself is if you have a customer come in you serve that customer and then carry on with your other duties. This person should be disciplined and or fired....if I interacted with a customer this way I know I would be Not impressed read more

This place is inconsistent and I would never recommend tanning here when they just open in the morning. In a business where they value a customers time you would have the staff scheduled to start at least 10 min. prior to opening. Today, as I waited outside for staff to arrive, I was treated to the girl hollering at me to stay outside while she went in. Instead of having the common courtesy to just explain that she had to shut off the alarm she actually yelled at me and then proceeded to give me attitude when I was furious with her for the treatment . There's also always a pink straightener plugged in and lying on the floor in the front near the mirrors (slight danger) so the girls can get ready in down time and on occasion in later shifts a bunch of young men hanging around while the girl finishes her shift. I'm in a similar industry and if my staff ever talked to a client the way I was spoken to I would fire them on the spot! Here are some suggestions for your business 1. Start your shifts 10-15 min earlier than your opening time. It will actually look like you are prepared to take guests and if something wasn't done from the night before, the 10 min before you open would be the time to check it. God forbid a bed wasn't cleaned and because your staff is so busy getting there at the very last second they could unknowingly send a guest to a dirty bed. Better to be proactive then reactive. 2. Teach your staff the value of explaining their actions as walking in a door with a staff member who needs to turn off an alarm is not something a guest of your business would understand if they weren't an employee 3. Put the straightener in a place where a guest doesn't see it as it looks lazy and terrible and if staff have so much extra time to do their hair while you pay them, perhaps they can clean the disgusting dust accumulation that is piling up behind the beds 4. Stop the party atmosphere, this is a business, not a night club Just as I'm leaving the girl at the desk who doesn't have enough common sense or has not been educated on accountability and how to treat a guest just pulls me aside and tells me I am disrespectful to her!!!!! Are you kidding me Fabutan! Your employee yells at me because she doesn't have the common sense to simply explain that she's turning off an alarm, lacks the common sense to apologize and them proceeds to tell a guest of yours whose purchase at your business ensures she's employed and I am disrespectful? There is a lovely girl who knows me there who picks up the phone and knows who it is before I even tell her, hire more girls like that! That blonde one is AWFUL!!!!!!! read more

I have been a customer here since they opened and there is a reason for this: great staff and management, super clean, large enough to always have a tan bed available even without an appointment the wait is only a few minutes. There is something else though: they care about the business they are in and ask about you having eyewear and if you need lotion. Even a regular customer like me needs to know they are diligent about this and on a few occasions I have forgotten so bought the disposable paper ones. Owner here is hands on has great customer service skills. This central location smack in the dead centre of downtown is great with LRT a minute away. Highly recommended. read more

Nice friendly staff but what's most important to ME is the experience of tanning in the bed...i saw hair from a previous customer in my bed twice (wiped it off with my towel the first time, told the employee, but didn't improve). This review summarizes my experience at all Edmonton locations. The actual company, 'fabutan' is great - great deals, good plans, great Color, and a wide variety of products and sevices. Unfortunately, they do not hire anyone with any knowledge, professionalism, or computer skills. I was under their 'lifestyle pass' for spray tans for about a year. I signed up because it was affordable and easily accessible. Before you sign up they do not advise you of the extra cost to have the "add ins". For those that do not know the jist, $39.99 comes out of your account once a month- you are then free to go get your spray tan anytime you'd like -and a second one for 50% off however they do not guarantee those spray tans unless you buy the add ins! So wen you go it ends up costing you an additional $15 anyways. (They don't tell you that ahead of time)..Now is this really guaranteed? No. One of the workers did not clean the mystic booth properly my second time- therefore, leaving me blotchy due to the excess water in the booth. I complained and advised the ladies of this situation and nothing was ever done...even when I asked..guaranteed? Ya right. To add to my personal experience with these employees - I went to get a spray tan once a couple of months ago at The booth at the Oliver location- it was broke down ( which seems to happen about 40% of the time). I had an event that I really wanted color for so they sent me to the stony plain location- they told me everything would be ready for me. Once I arrived at the the location explaining my situation the employee said ' well didn't they call you'. Apparently this location was out of the add ins that actually guarantee the tan. She said, 'I can look to see if we have any tho?' Yes, please look. She said they were out, but advised me I could buy an extender and it would probably work the same. I just drove 20 minutes west, watched you open drawers for 10 minutes... And u can't promo me the $10 extender?! No, I have to pay. Don't send a customer across town without preparing a little service... This is just one experience I've had, I've attempted to cancel my contract as well, and the girl screwed up and hit a button that locked me in for another four months. I complained but "sorry, there's nothing we can do about it now". Whoever owns these fabutan's needs to seriously learn how to hire better staff- yes, they are bubbly, but when I pay money for a service, I expect that service. The girls need to learn what these services are. According to the staff, the second spray tan for half price all of a sudden does not exist when you ask for it. It's only 15% off. That's completely different than what is advertised. If you want to get your money's worth-go somewhere else - where they actually find your money to be of value. read more
