I went there at West Edmonton Mall and there was a very young and naive female beautician. I know age doesn't matter but she literally ripped my skin as she couldn't take the strip off of my underarm while waxing cause apparently she did not know how we have to do it on the one go. This thing ended up by giving me redness, rash and whole lot of pain. I do recommend other people but this young girl without experience is not recommended and her name is Prabhjot. read more

I have gone here several times to get my eyebrows and occasionally upper lip done. They are quick in and out, and I haven't had to wait long before being helped or given a seat. Kurves does threading, not waxing and are conveniently located at several malls in the city. If you haven't done threading before, then take note that you are expected to participate by tightening up the area (ie. Use hands above and below eyebrows, or use tongue underneath your lip). Usually it relatively painless, however I was slightly disappointed today as it was pretty painful and my pores were very obviously open more than usual. Sometimes when this happens, a breakout can happen. Keep this in mind to make sure yours and their hands are clean beforehand. read more

I walked past the Kurves Brow Bar several times before finally stopping and deciding to try out their service. I had used the Londonderry location and found the experience average at best but the Kingsway location staff managed to surpass my expectations in a couple of areas. First off the lady who looked after me was MUCH more communicative then the ladies at Londonderry. She stopped to make sure everything was okay when my eye started to water and actually consulted with me about what shape I wanted my brows to be. Unfortunately I found her accent a little difficult to understand similar to the issues I had at the other location but she handled it well and didn't mind repeating herself. Her customer service attitude in general was really positive. She was the only person working when I came so I sat down and waited for her to finish with another customer however when that was all said and done a different lady walked up and started yelling that she had been there before me and had just left for a coffee. The staff member calmly explained that it is a walk in service and when you leave you forfeit your place in the line. I just wanted to stop the yelling so I finally told her to just go ahead and look after the other lady but she was still very apologetic and very thankful when I tipped her at the end of the service. It is a walk up kiosk versus a store so if you don't like people passing by in the mall to be able to see you getting your threading this would not be the place for you. Taking into account though the price,convenience,and wonderful service experience I received I do recommend trying it at least once. read more

Was my first time trying threading in years, and I am very pleased with the results. Although WAY more painful than waxing, the price is much better and I think looks much better. My only issue was that the lady went a little fast and pulled harder then I thought necessary (actually broke the thread at one point). But overall, again, I am very happy and will go back read more

Have been to 2 locations. WEM and Halifax Shopping Centrre. Lady was scrict at WEM but a lot less painful. Lady i Halifax was a more patient person. But hurt even worse than my laser hair removal. Of course thags upper lip: chin not brows , and different hair removal hurts differently. Both locations i walked out happy with how brows looked. But had a few issues in halifax. The pain was one but it is winter and i have startted using a retinol eye cream , second being that the technician wanted to stopp threading my brows and switch to wax. Explained no wax makes me break out. But think technicians should know most of us have reasons to thread over waxing and not try to switch. Still do think for being a lower cost its worth while. You just get what you pay for. And would make sure to go to one that has a salon not just the kiosk. Unless your not distracted easily. read more

I have been to this location twice now. Both times the women here have done an excellent job. Tonight I stopped by at 8:10 pm to get them done. There was only the one lady working (there are normally two), and she was working on one lady. She said to me "can you come back in 15 minutes or so?", to which I said of course. I return at 8:20. The one lady was still in the chair, the threading lady nowhere to be found. I realized the lady she was threading was the other one who normally works there. She informs me that the threader "isn't done yet" so I smile and say I'll wait. A minute later she returns. She looks at me, looks at her watch and says "I'm closed now. The mall is closing." To which I said, "Pardon?" She replies, "I've closed the till, and the mall is closing soon. Can you come back tomorrow?" I look at her, and explain to her that I was here almost an hour before the mall closes, it's only 8:30 and she was the one who asked me to leave and come back. She kinda shrugged, and again said I could come back tomorrow. Normally I wouldn't care if someone had said "look, slow night, we shut down early" or even deny me service a half hour before closing. Fine. I worked retail, I get it. But don't ask me to waste 15 minutes of my time, and then tell me "the mall is closing soon" when it isn't even a half hour before close. Don't worry guys, I won't be back tomorrow. read more

Worst service ever. I only wanted my loose hairs under my brow gone. I didn't want the shape messed with as I told her I am growing them out. I have had these eyebrows for a week before writing this... i am still upset. I've had to use brow powder to somewhat create a shape. They are pencil thin AND AND uneven on one brow. Could've been better. Much better. Asked for a full face threading, and both staff laughed, talked in their language, then one girl (the one who threaded me) looked at me exasperatedly. I'm sorry for having lots of hair (why im there in the forst place) but it certainly was not that so bad that you'd spend an hour on it. Nope. She took 10min for full face threading. What I got? Full of patches of hair, uneven threading, and a look that said 'fuck you' when I asked her to thread those parts again. I've been to places that took 15min just on my brow alone on same name but different place, and I only have praises. This place though... I am not stingy with my praises, but I am with my critics, but this place just ruined my day. I paid $35 bucks, but it feels like I got $10 service, and a fuck you attitude. The clerk didn't even say a word after I was done. Not when I said, fine, that's enough. Not when I paid and left. This just ruins threading in general in my book. I feel so frustrated looking like having hundred islands in my face. PS Me putting 2 stars, is being genereous. I'll never come back to this location again, and would even discourage my friends from going. Thank you. read more

Thought I would try out this little mall kiosk since I like threading my brows and was highly disappointed with the work. My upper lids left with all sorts of scratches from the fast rough job the young lady did. Its been three days and the scratches are still visible. Are they not trained to be careful because the skin is so tender and sensitive. Definitely will not be returning. read more

I have switched from waxing to threading. Just as quick and no appointment needed. I also don't get the redness after waxing. I even take my daughter to get her eyebrows done before dance season so all I have to do is color them in instead of trying templates. It is also cheaper than waxing. read more

The worst experience I have had with waxing ever. The lady hadn't even asked me how I would like them done, didn't comb my eyebrows to see the shape. Then after, she waxed them making the ends way too thin, there was almost nothing left. Then one side, there was a chunk of hair gone, looking like a notched. So obviously I was upset, I told her about it and she started saying how it was "a lighter peice of hair" and as I got up, I was ferious I didn't let her finish my eyebrows and left. She almost charged me but luckily, the other lady told her too let it go. I'm please don't go here, I regret doing it as a 2 year old could have done it better. The customer customer service was horrible,The lady who did my eyebrows was very rude. she had been eating fries and I don't even think she washed her hands before getting started on me. Kurves Brow Bar was kind of the first place I could think of when it came to threading skills. Every other place I've researched was either really expensive or I wasn't sure about the skills they had by looking at client pictures. I just went for this place and I'm pleased with the results. I've been waxing my eyebrows for a while and have tried threading in the past but now I'm sticking with this technique. The job was done neatly and I love that she kept my eyebrows thick as I had requested in the beginning. Overall it was a great experience today and I'll def be coming back again. read more

I went to kurves in Kingsway mall today to get my eyebrows cleaned up a bit after months and months of finally getting my desired shape and size. I came out with stick thin, uneven and crooked eyebrows... I have never had such a horribly done job on my eyebrows. I am not one to make bad reviews. But considering the time it took for me to get them the way they were, the time it's going to take for them to grow back (my hair grows slow) and the time and effort I'm going to have to put in every morning to draw them on. I am very upset, I didn't say anything to her which I should've but the damage was already done and she could not fix them without removing more hair. This business should hire employees who actually care about their customers rather than workers just trying to get people in and out as soon as possible. Probably should train them as well. read more

I had the worse experience every time I went for the whole facial. I've been to the Kingsway and the west edmonton mall locations. Every time got an unfriendly person who didn't even care to ask what I wanted to get done. I'm not gonna be back at any of the locations and will tell everyone I know not to use their services. The last time I went to Kingsway bacause I wasn't happy at west edmonton mall (even though wem is just 5 min away from my place) but the experience was worse than ever. Just because I told the girl that I still see some hairs and if she could remove them she damaged my skin. I will attach a picture so you can see. The ladies here work way too fast and pull on skin while doing eyebrows. She had me in and out in 4 minutes! Aggressive threading and the poor lighting didnt allow me to see what was done with my brows. Would not recommded paying $11 for 4 minutes of having my face pulled on. read more

I've been having my eyebrows threaded for almost 20 years. I tried Kurves because I was in the mall. I would not recommend this place because she missed several hairs and didn't trim my eye brow hairs. The lighting is poor and she rushed. The entire process took 3 minutes, which isn't enough for a proper job. read more

Getting tired of spending $25-30 to get my brows done. I have crazy bush man eyebrows that grow all over the place. I've gotten them to a shape I like and just need to maintain now. Decided to try here after hearing good things. The price you can't really beat at $11. The girl was very friendly and there was no line up so I got to sit in the chair right away. It was a little abrupt for being my first time but they try to get you in and out quick. If you've never had threading done before though you may feel a little lost through the process. They don't brush off the loose hairs but they trim. I told the girl I wanted to keep the shape and just clean things up as I let them go a bit. she listened and did a fantastic job. It blew me away how she was being so precise while working so fast. I will definitely be coming back to maintain and save some money. Just make sure to bring cash to tip as they can't accept them with the debit machine. read more
