I'm fortunate to have pretty chill skin, it's mainly just dryness and dullness. A monthly trip here for their European facial really helps reset and refresh my face. After years of trying many different spas, this place (and their sort-of related branch on Noriega) will always be my go-to for skin upkeep! They have three estheticians: Sharon (also the owner), Alice, and Cecilia. I always seem to end up with Alice or Cecilia, and they're both very skilled. It's worth noting that English is not their first language, so be patient with them. I do speak Mandarin, so I have an easier time communicating; it's been great getting to know them personally over the past 3 years. I've only ever gotten European facials here, so I can't speak for other services they offer. For me, I get a cleanse, steam, gentle extraction, gentle exfoliation with rubbing clay (instead of acids), serum, a fantastic and relaxing face massage, and mask. They always offer eyebrow tweezing, which I decline. Tip #1: Remember to pay for parking, and pay 2h if you have 1.5h appts, in case things run over. I got a ticket once and it suuuucked!!! That's like the price of one facial :( The meter maids there definitely do their job. Tip #2: I recommend the package. As of today, a European facial is $110 alone, or $85 if you buy a 10x package. I have been coming to Facial Plus for over ten years and will keep returning. Facial Plus is known for facials and self-care treatments which use all Shiseido products. Once you enter, they have the Shiseido products displayed and a little front desk area. I get monthly facials to rejuvenate my skin. I have also been here to get a massage which helped out with my knots. My currently designated aesthetician is Cecilia, and she is amazing! She is detailed with every facial step, from cleaning up my eyebrows to extracting all my black and whiteheads to the relaxing massage at the end. She addresses all my skin issues and recommends products to help combat them. Sharon is the current owner and is my mom's designated aesthetician. My mom praises Sharon for her facial treatment. Sharon is friendly and knowledgeable about skincare and Shiseido products. Facial Plus offers facial packages like ten treatments for around $70-75 for 90 mins, which is worth it! I've been going to Facial Plus for about 5 years now. I bought the prepaid packages (they're a better deal) of about 5-10 at a time. Sharon and Jessie are my main aestheticians and they are absolutely incredible. In the 90 minute session, they double-cleanse my face, extract all the nasty blackheads and whiteheads, mask me up, UV the germs away, massage my shoulders, neck, and head, and gave me a hand mask. They also use high-quality products (Shiseido, Cle de Peau). I feel so refreshed coming out of the experience!! I also always fall asleep when I'm there. Keep in mind - this is Asian-owned, so they don't mess around with those extractions if you're doing an Acne facial. My skin has improved significantly since I've started going. This is a great place to treat yourself to some TLC tender loving care. I received a gift from my sister to go here for a 90min facial session because she needed to use up her sessions. I believe they are $750 for 10 sessions, which was too much for 1 person like herself to finish. My skin was so glad and can finally breathe again. My aesthetician was very knowledgeable and recommended a product for me to start using. For the past couple days, (1 week after the facial) my skin still feels very moisturized and fresh! She explained each step before proceeding which I appreciated. The store felt very secure (doorbell required), and the parking was convenient (street or residential) when I went (weekday morning). Cecilia does an insanely good euro facial. It is extremely thorough as detailed by all of the steps below. The use of all Shiseido products is the cherry on top! 1. She wiped off my make up the double cleansed with an oil balm 2. She lightly threaded my brows and cleaned up my upper lip 3. She steamed my face for about 10/15 min while doing a arm / shoulder/ back massage. After the arm massage, she covered with bags to moisturize while she did the facial 4. Extractions - none of the mediocre tools to shimmy the gunk out. She took the time to get everything out - sometimes with a small needle. 5. Gauze with toner over the face, and disinfected with the buzzing tool 6. Rubbed on the exfoliant 7. Toner 8. Moisturizer with the most epic facial massage!!!! Seriously it was maybe 15/20 min long? 9. Gauze with toner then mask 10. Voila! They do try to sell you on their facial packages and Shiseido products, but the 10 pack ($70/ 80 min facial) is well worth it. Facial Plus is a small storefront in San Francisco's sunset area on Irving Street. You might not think they provide facials, because it's disguised as a Shiseido retail store. The good news is Facial Plus is authorized retailer, unlike some other Shiseido stores. They have a wide variety of Shiseido brand cosmetic and skin care products when you first walk in, but the real goodies are in the back, where they use professional line of Shiseido products on your face. I've been going to Facial Plus for many years now, and my skin has absolutely change for the better. My daughter has had bad acne since she was 11-12 years old, and Sharon, our main facialist, has always managed to clear her skin after an appointment. Her extractions are absolutely stellar, and nearly painless, even for my daughter. After a face steam and extractions, she uses a thick, cooling clay mask to relax the skin. It's super relaxing! Worst facial ever. She barely exfoliated my skin. The extraction was beyond useless since I came home and finished the job on my own. I like to have the squeeky clean feeling when I get a facial. Today was my first time getting a facial at Facial Plus. When I walked in, the owner (?) was just sitting there and crossing her arms while the rest of the employees directed me to fill out a questionaire regarding my skin. I was then directed into the room by May and went ahead to start my facial. Everything inside seems clean and relaxing. The experience? It was not as bad as I thought. It was my first time getting a facial and the extractions did not hurt at all (I've done extractions by myself before.). Along with the facial, I got a hand, neck, shoulder, and face massage. Oh yeah... if you purchase the package (5 facials for $350.00), you get free threading of your eyebrows and upper lip. Only downside is that when I had my face mask on, they don't close the door all the way, which means you can hear the phone ring, water running and conversations going on. Enter Kelli M who tells me about the secret she's been hiding. For $70 you can have an amazing hour-long facial with high end products and great estheticians. No way. I was able to score an appointment that same week after work (5:45) and while I ran a bit late they were more than accommodating. Kiki was my esthetician and she was great! She talked through each step ahead of time so I could go ahead and relax while it was in progress. She was incredibly thorough and really worked on those extractions. Other reviewers are right that this isn't the kind of facial you can just drift off to sleep during, this is hardcore. I used to get my facial treatments at FACIAL PLUS IRVING, but I moved out of town and wasn't able to go get my facials anymore at this location. But recently I came back to town to visit my family, and decided to get a facial thinking it would be as good as before, but NO!! I believe they changed owner as well as all the estheticians, people that work here now is NOT NICE NOR PROFESSIONAL. After the treatment which I did NOT ENJOY, I still tip the esthetician Cecilia just to be nice, BUT she asks for more!! I wanted to check this place out since I'm in search of places that can treat my backne. . I narrated my situation that I am preparing for a wedding in May (gonna be the MOH), so I need to get my skin in check. The lady pointed out that I I should probably try the facial treatment first, which is similar to what they do with the back, then told me that I should probably get my mustache waxed. I signed up for an appointment this weekend, didn't make it to my appointment yesterday morning, but was able to have it rescheduled for the afternoon. I heard it has been recently remodelled. The inside looks bright and sanitary.... like those cosmetic and perfume counters in Taiwan's Chiang Kai Shek airport, with the Chinese ladies adamant at pushing their products on you. Like those ladies, the ladies here were a little pushy with the products, but please maintain strong willpower, and you will be able to eventually say "no". I did have a wonderful 90-minute facial here, for $70 (which I thought was a deal, but I have not done my comparison shopping, so I don't really know if this was actually a deal). They have a 5-treatment package (good for facials and back treatments) for $300, prepaid. They had these tiny rooms in the back, with the beds, and steamers, and products (they use almost all Shiseido products on your face). Relaxing music is soothingly blasted (not blasted, but projected) in tiny speakers at one corner in the ceiling. You are asked to take off your top, except your bra, and to put on a robe. You lie on your back on the massage/treatment bed and draped. What surprised me about the "facial" was that the aesthetician also massaged my hands and forearms and put them in these plastic bags and warming mits, while we waited for the facial treatments to set. (while my face was being steamed to open up my pores, she also gave me an upper back and neck massage, which was AWESOME). She moisturized my face, steamed it, squeezed the whiteheads and other debris, did this deep pore cleansing thingy, did some exfoliation, subjected it to some anti-bacterial zapping process, put softener on it with an ultrasonic device (to ensure better skin penetration), then moisturized it again. My face looked more even in pigmentation, and my pores didn't look like key cubbies as much. I was so freakin' relaxed during my facial that I caught myself at the cusp of snoring three times. I am really happy about the facial and will probably purchase the 5-treatment package soon. Products are a bit on the pricier side, and do watch out for product pushing. Some of the ladies do not speak English that well, and you have to watch out what they are entering in their computer (she almost signed me up for the 5-tx package). Facial Plus and their Shisheido products cleared my skin in a way I never thought possible. I've had acne since I was 8, and I'm almost 28! Too bad it took this long to find the right thing. Getting facials here and using Shiseido Pureness products have got my skin looking pretty good! No more of that gnarly jaw acne. Blech. Ruby and Mei are excellent, and everyone else who I've had has been good, too. The women who work here are very hard-working. Anyone who can spend all day squeezing gunk out of people's skin deserves a medal! They're always open and I've never had a problem getting an appointment a day or two ahead of time.They are very accommodating if you have certain needs or preferences, or if you need to reschedule. If you have a lot of acne, prepare for some pain! But also prepare to feel your skin baby-smooth in a day or two. It's an expensive habit, but getting rid of that "please no one look at my face" feeling is priceless! Pro-tip: Don't go right before your period. Your skin is extra sensitive. This place was neither amazing or disappointing so I never bothered to review but I am writing one now for a recent appointment that I had with them. Pros: The staff is nice and accommodating They offer packages at a discount Cons: The services are inconsistent Competitive and paid parking situation My recent visit left me needing multiple dermatology appointments as I've suddenly developed itchy rashes and dry skin in the areas that were worked on and massaged. This hasn't happened in previous years but given the trend that I generally experience here, it must be a change in the quality of oils used. There's a number of things that fell in quality but I don't want to waste more time listing it all out. This place is no longer worth it IMO. Just so my reference of inconsistencies are clear, here is what I meant: - some aestheticians will provide massage for the same facial, some won't - some aestheticians will include threading your eye brows, some won't - again this is for the same facial - some aestheticians will use the warming gloves when treating your hands during the facial, some will just use plastic bags without the warmers The above are just some of the inconsistencies in the services I've received over time. I've had good experiences here but also disappointing ones. This last time with the skin irritation - that was concerning especially since the aesthetician asked if my skin was irritated from massages before - which it was not. The problem is, I'm not sure what to expect when I come in for my visit. Sometimes it's good and some of the times it's quite mediocre. I feel like I need to ask for things when the expectation is, if I'm getting a certain facial, the services rendered should be consistent across all aestheticians. Hope this helps. Asian ladies do facials here. I am Asian, I prefer Asians to do facials because they usually know my skin type and they are not afraid to really extra my stubborn pores. I've done facials at Aveda in Santana Row (they use a tissue and I dont feel they really do a good job after I pay $80+ for a facial). I've also gotten facials done in China, HK, and LA and so far I haven't found my favorite place. I use to do my facial at H&B spa on Judah/45th but they moved and I decided I wanted to try a new place in hopes to find someone I like I had my facial done upstairs by Kiki. As a first time customer, they make you sign up this form describing your own skin type and they keep a record of you. I think that's kind of nice so they have something to refer back to next time. They said if I was referred by a friend, they will give her free oxygen treatment on the skin. Then they ask you if you parked your car in a meter spot; they will put coins in for you. Steps: 1. wipe face 2. steam your face 3. extraction process begins. she was pretty meticulous with my nose which I liked. 4. then she applied some gel to my nose to get rid of the deeper black heads. 5. clean my face again with some sort of lotion/moisturizer. 6. used a laser thing to zap my face; i think it prevents bacteria and redness of the skin? 7. cooling cream applied to face. 8. some warm lotion wrap on both hands and small massaging of the hands. 9. some massaging of the neck and shoulder. 10. 30 minute for the face mask to cool and dry. 11. moisture the face. 12. Done. My face once again feels plump and hydrated. 13. $70 for the facial 14. Then they recommend you to buy some Shiseido products. I bought the Quiora moisture. So far so good. I have tried Laura Mercier, Kiehls, and by far I still like Shiseido the best. They asked me if I wanted to buy a package skin facial and I said next time. There are still other facial places I want to check out but literally there are 4 facial spas within that 2 block area. Pro: Kiki was meticulous with the nose area for the extraction. Con: I am not sure how clean the tools were and they do not tell me what type of products are used on my face. Technology wise - I've seen newer type of machines for the steam jet at different stores and other tools used at the other stores look newer and cleaner. read more

After all the fabulous reviews on Yelp, I was really looking forward to my facial here. But perhaps I had such high expectations already, the experience was a bit disappointing. I've been having a breakout spell, so I knew I needed to go for more than once to see results. I decided to get the 5-facials package, but unfortunately, after 5 sessions (going every 2-3 weeks), I still didn't see much improvements in my breakouts. I also find them very pushy on the sales of their Qiora line (the high end line of the Shiseido brand) which I got suckered into purchasing given my desperateness to have face healed back to normal. The absolute best facial of my life! I wasn't sure about this place since it isn't swanky like some spas, but the inside is actually nice and comfortable despite the nondescript exterior. Ruby did my facial and was very professional and efficient. She did what my face needed and asked if she could do elements that would be better for my skin than what I had asked for. Her recommendations were perfect for my skin, and I even bought a package deal to come back. My skin is acne-prone, so normally when I leave a facial session I look like I've just died of small pox. Leaving from Facial Plus I looked like I had a light sunburn - not the usual days of embarrassing recovery. I even went out that night! Over a week later my skin is the healthiest looking and feeling it's been in probably a decade. I highly recommend Facial Plus! Caveat - For newcomers to the world of facials, you should know that it IS going to hurt and that is unavoidable if you want extractions. To skip the pain, ask for a relaxing facial instead of a deep-cleaning one. (I recommend gritting your teeth and getting the deep-clean anyway.) read more

She's excellent - very professional, thorough, explains everything that she's putting on my face, and tailors the facial to the current condition of my skin. Since it's winter time, she used creams that were a little more hydrating on my skin. She always answers my numerous questions about skincare. I highly recommend her. I give Facial Plus 4.5 stars (so rounded up to 5). I have coming here for over two years and LOVE it...for three reasons. 1) Quality facials for 1.5 hours for only $60 (if you pre-pay for the $300 package - five facials). Otherwise, I think it's $70 or $75 per session. 2) They are very flexible and I have been able to schedule appointments last minute and cancel (although not recommended). I had a work emergency and couldn't make it to my appointment. They were really nice about it and didn't charge me even though I canceled just an hour before my appointment. 3) They use nice products (Shiseido) The facial includes (and not in this order) deep cleaning, exfoliation, extraction, threading (facial hair and eye brows), neck message while steaming your face, mask, and hand massage. Overall, I think they do a great job especially for the price. However, do not expect a Burke Williams spa experience. The establishment is clean and the people who work their are friendly but it's not fancy at all. Parking around here can be difficult so come early to look for non meter parking. read more

I was really excited of this place because of all the great reviews... maybe it's because my skin doesn't really need extractions and I was looking more for a rejuvenating, brightening facial - but this didn't do anything for me except make me break out on my cheeks where I never break out. It just wasn't worth my money :( The rooms are small and dark, and the whole setup with the steamer hovering over the chair is reminiscent of a dentist office - I felt more like I was in a hospital than a spa. The women were VERY nice and the cremes soothing if nothing else - those are the only reasons I'm giving two stars. read more

Went there for the first time today and received the Refreshing Facial. I used to go to Urban Beauty because it was a really good deal, but after finding out that extractions can be done w/out so much pain, I decided to shop around. Up until now, I thought it was normal for extractions to be unbearable pain, but I would do them because my pores would get cleaned. Since I'm on a budget, I chose Facial Plus because 1. it's in my neighborhood 2. it's also a really good deal of $55 for 60 min! 3. because Alice had a bunch of reviews saying that her extractions don't hurt Sometimes when I go to those asian-run salons, I feel like I'm being lectured, or they say things to make my self-esteem get lowered so I'd agree to add on more services. At Facial Plus, the staff there was really nice and polite, and not pushy like many asian-run places. They also mostly use Shiseido products there for their facials. Alice was nice and warm, and true to the reviews, she gave a good amount of massage, and her extraction hardly hurt. YAAAAAAY! read more

I've been coming here since 2007 and has been loving this place since day one. I've tried so many places and by far Facial plus is the best. My pores are bigger around my t-zone, so I prefer my esthetician to focus more around that area. Yes, the extractions hurt a lot, but I never left with a tomato face like many other places. They also use a lot of well known skincare products such as Shisedo and Cle de peau ( can only find at high end department stores and boutiques). Their 90 min facial left me in awe as always. Plus I never have to worry about feeding the meter because the girls at the store helps me while I'm in the treatment room. I always feel so relax after walking out of this place, so thank you Facial Plus for giving me my glowing skin. FYI- Purchase their special facial packages that way you can save at least $15 for each facial. 5 for $300 instead of $75 for a visit. read more
