Look, many parents will never admit to what I am about to admit. Most parents think their children are just so great. Perfect little angels if you will... While others look on with fear and judgement in their eyes. Not me. Not I. I will admit it. My little boy is one heck of a handful. The anti-Christ if you will. We call him 'The Tornado' at home! You can't get him to sit still, even if you offered him all the candy and toys in the world. Which is what happened on Saturday. My husband took the little booger to get his hair cut here. I received a ton of texts from my daughter and husband during their trip there: "He won't sit still." "He took off his shoes." "He is laying on his side." "Now he is laying on his other side." "He's jumping and screaming that he is a Minion." All I wanted to know is, "is the barber okay?" "Surprisingly, yes." "Then tip him...WELL!" My son came home looking so handsome with his new hair cut. HOW the barber managed to do such a great job is beyond me. But his professionalism, patience and talent earned this shop the 5 stars. I've been wearing my hair style the same way for the last 20 years and almost every time it was cut different, not the length I asked for, visible lines in the fade, etc. Once I'd find someone good, I'd move because I never stay in the same place too long. So after a round of bad hair cuts. Shops not being open when they say they are. I went on a mission this morning to find a good barber shop, where fades are done right. About 8 shops in the area said they opened at 9 am. After the third shop I was about to call it quits, but I found this shop. I walked in and there were already 3 Barbers working and the cuts they were doing looked to be on point. When I was called up by Leon, I explained the situation. I described the cut. He cut my hair and it was exactly what I asked for. It's a simple fade, but you'd be surprised at many people mess it up, Leon didn't. Again it was exactly what I asked for. Ive been coming here for years but its finally over. Ive been blind for years , but this place has turned into a joke. Back in the day this place was a respectable establishment, where one would go to get a mediocre haircut for an average price. I walk in on 6/20/22 and these two amateur looking barbers are cutting hair. I walk in and sit there for a little while when they amateur tells me "we are booked until 4 sorry". Its currently 12;30. The first thing that goes through my head is no... theres no way you're booked up until 4, you're not THAT good. Of all the times i got a haircut here , i never walked away saying , wow what a great haircut. I thought "hey i could've did this myself" its really disappointing to see such a mediocre haircut. I had been looking for a barber near my house forever and had been going for the most part to Fade Factory on Hollister Street which is a GREAT place and heard of a new Fade Factory opening up on 13th Street, which is walking distance to my house. I walked in one Friday morning accompanied with my 3 year old nephew and was immediately greeted by Jorge the Barber who was very nice to my little rug rat. He immediately seated me and gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. All the while keeping my 3 year old entertained. Afterward he asked if my little one needed a haircut and gave me half off on his haircut. Great customer service, great prices, and great location. Imperial Beach has now gained a GREAT BARBER. Today was my first time taking my son to this place. He starts school on Tuesday, and I was hoping he was going to get a nice cut. You can tell some of the other barbers have skills in cutting hair, but this one guy in particular (young, white Complexion) does NOT!! I waited two hours just for my son's hair to get F#@"ed up. He wanted to charge me ten dollars and I was like seriously?!!!! "You messed up his hair", I said. He wanted to school me on the way I should describe his cut with more detail. Seriously, how much more detailed can I get.. I said can you give him a comb over with a half a clip fade on the side. Scissors on top just a trim. IDK did he want me to take the machine and do it myself?? wow!!! Hey he's the one with the barber license!!! Poor guy he started off good but then IDK.. He doesn't have the skill on point.. Well it sure is convenient not to have to style my hair in the morning because I had to have the dude cut the rest of my hair off after he butchered my hair and had me looking like simple jack. The funny, well not so funny to me, part about it is I walked back into work, everyone had a good laugh, took their pictures, and then proceeded to tell me to never go there because about 8 of our other co workers had the same experience I did. It looks like a good barber shop, but I can't tell you I've been there three times all three times I waited two hours just to be bumped by someone else that walks in. They have a sign in sheet that doesn't work. Maybe they have enough customers and don't need any new customers like myself which gets a hair cut once a week. I had taken my sons here once before and had a pretty good experience. I brought my sons back a few weeks later to get cut up again, since the regular barber shop that a few of these guys USED to work at is always busy. I'm not a nit-picky customer and I'm not even critical about haircuts... it'll grow back!! Keep in mind I haven't EVER felt the need to do a Yelp review, good or bad... but TONIGHT... I took my sons and we WALKED OUT! The 2 chairs in use were cutting young children... maybe 2 years old and the other maybe 4? but the music was blasting, the neighborhood thugs were playing foosball, the hoodrat was hanging out... and to top it off... 2 of the 3 BARBERS were drinking Dos Equis!! I noticed one of the barbers try to tell the others to chill out, but they shrugged him off. I've grown up and raised my sons in South San Diego, but I could see that my sons were uncomfortable and SCARED... I gave these dudes a chance, because I know the guys at the other location, unfortunately I will not be bringing my sons here again. I ended up having to drive around IB to anywhere that was open to get my boys cut...Manager... the buff guy wasn't drinking... the tall guy in the close chair hid his beer in the top right shelf... the young cats playing foosball had "water cups"... the tatooed white guy was probably tweaking... First I booked an appointment online as they told me to do so. I get there 10 mins before and barber was busy and had no idea I was on schedule. I asked another barber if he could cut me because he was just on his phone . He took me , worst mistake I could have done. I told him I was in a hurry and couldn't wait for the other guy to finish so maybe that's why he wasn't good. Gave me a basic mid fade , not once did he offer to line me up or straight edge me with blade . Bought product from store (over priced) and still gave nice tip. Didn't see cut right away but once I got home to shower I noticed everything. Both sides are uneven , didn't line up any of my hair . Very quick and basic for $35 . Best thing he did was trim my mustache , didn't even ask to trim beard . Only upside is that they were not busy but I will never return. I was in town on business and looking a little shaggy. So I stopped by this place. Nice shop. Very clean. And when I showed up there was no wait. Jorge cut my hair and I walked away pleased. I was in the army for almost 10 years and have had some horrible fades in my day. This might be one of, if not the best cut I've gotten. if you want to go to a place to be ignored, this is the place.i took my husband here to get his beard shaped and hair cut, but the person there completely ignored us for the 15 min+ we were there. didnt ask what we were in for, didnt say how long the wait was just ignored us, after the disrespect we just walked out so i want to update this review, the owner contacted us and was gracious enough to let us come back and see if they could redeem themselves. my husband went back and get a hair cut and his beard cleaned up and shaped, the stylist were much better this time, the greeted him, sat him down at a reasonable time and the place was pretty clean. all in all i think he was happier this time. this was during a week day after he got off work, so im not sure how much that made a difference read more

I have an 6 yr old autistic son who has never liked getting his haircut but he lets Jorge cut his hair! This is a great spot. The wait isn't bad as they usually have a good amount of babers on duty. All of them cut hair great. I take my 2 boys there and they are great with my special needs son. I have been getting my haircut on base for years, and I've decided that I need to find a reputable barbershop. IB Fade Factory is the it! Two different guys have cut my hair and they've both done a fantastic job!! I have found my barbers!! The place is clean, good atmosphere, good for kids. The barbers are courteous and respectful. You don't have to be concerned about profanity and vulgar patrons. I'm recommending this place to all my friends. I'll always come here as long as I live in IB.
