My dad gets his hair trimmed here whenever he's in town, so he's gone here a few times.. And like any salon or barber, there's some good stylists, and not so good stylists... He's had one experience where he was a bit unhappy with his cut, but all other times have left him satisfied. Lots of chairs, so he didn't have to wait this visit. The stylists seem friendly enough, they're mostly quiet, but my dad is talkative, so they're keeping up with the conversation! Cleanliness is average for these kind of barbers.. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS SHOP AGAIN! I have been taking my 3 boys here for YEARS, my husband also gets a full hair cut (& beard trim) here. I have never had a bad experience, we are here monthly between the 3 boys. You walk in, never have to wait and its inexpensive and fast. TODAY THE GOOD EXPERIENCED STOPPED! I went in with my son (4 years old). I was immediately sat (chair 6, picture of hair dresser included). I explained to her what I wanted, showed her a PICTURE of what I wanted, a picture of a hair cut my son got at that shop! It was an awkward experience. She didn't speak to me the whole time, she had another stylist hold my child's face (even though he was sitting perfectly still). His haircut was okay (left very wet and with a bunch of product in it). We left when done. As soon as we got home and his hair dried I realized how truly botchy it was and that it wasn't something I could ignore or that would grow back out. We decided to go back and have it fixed. I walked in and the manager was really nice about it and told me to go back to the woman who cut it to have it fixed. I explained how bad it was (think a child extra on Dumb and Dumber with the bowl cut look). She defended the horrible hair cut. I never once rose my voice, I never got angry. I just wanted her to fix it. She argued with me, had another stylist argue with me. Telling me it was fine and not to do anything. The more they "fixed" it the worse it got. I tried asking for a particular thing and they just kept saying no. Again with the aggressive face holding and dirty looks. Very rude and not willing to help. I even said this was the first and only bad hair cut and it happens but I just wanted it fixed and that obviously was not happening. I finally just picked up my son and walked out. I called and spoke with the owner who was apologetic and offered for me to come in a 3rd time to have it fixed. NO THANK YOU! I informed her that what happened was NOT okay, they made me feel like the bad guy. That not only would I never be back, but I would make sure everyone knew of my experience. I am SO grateful that my sons hair was FIXED at a different salon, I was so worried that what THE HAIR CUT ZONE did was too much damage and that his head would have to be shaved. DONT GO HERE! Extremely pissed about the service we received. We took my son in to get a haircut, he has a beautiful head of curls and was getting to long to the point where it was in his face, went in and asked them to give him a little cut BUT keep the curls, first off no one wanted to cut his hair due to his age, they passed us off to multiple ppl because everyone refused to cut it, so the lady that did cut his hair we told her to keep his curls but to give him a small cut because it was getting longer, he's always had a mini fro of curls, well this lady cut off all his curls and barely left any, then tried to give him a fade in the back, I was extremely pissed off leaving that place, what's so hard to understand to keep the curls just give him a light cut!! read more

Prices recently and significantly increased, my brother showed the lady a a picture of what he wanted I'm not sure what the name for it is, but it's a simple style and he ended up with a haircut that looks nothing like the picture he was very unhappy. As for my haircut, I have a faux hawk and I told my barber how short I wanted the sides and usually when the barber is done doing by sides they ask how much I want off the top. This barber did not ask me and he cut it really short and then put gel on me without asking. I came out looking an ugly mess will not come back again read more

The barbers here have given my son the crappiest cut ever.. fades are not even, not faded meaning you can see the line clearly, or just plain lack of care or passion for their job.. went here 3 times 1st time was a fail so decided to go to another barber the following month ...2nd time was another fail so third time We went with a male barber and resul ended the same.. crappy fail . it takes them an average of 5-6 minutes to cut your hair and they charge 12 $ wtf! I have 3 boys and haircuts are about every 2 weeks. This is a cheap place to get them done. It's true that a lot of the stylists aren't good with English so if you want something specific it's good to bring a picture, but that's true with any stylist. I have a 2 year old and they have always been really great with him, with the exception of one stylist who was really nervous and her nerves transferred and she got hair in his eyes. Otherwise all my kids have been here multiple times and we have always gotten great hair cuts. read more

Terrible experience. First and foremost, the lady barely even asked what we wanted. Not a big deal as I've had a # of barbers who ask about other details (squared, round, temple, etc..) as they get to that point of the haircut. Let me tell you that it was the WORST haircut we have ever gotten. Clumpy top, uneven sideburns, bad lining..I understand a 3 yr old wont be as easy to work with as an adult but why have other places been good while you completely screwed everything up? I tried to have her correct the problems but she only made it worse. I honestly think she wasn't even qualified to be a barber. I will NEVER go back here! I was in the area and I saw a barber shop. Thought I needed a quick haircut. My hair was getting ridiculously long. As soon as I walked in the guy on the first chair grabbed me and sat me down. No wait may have been a red flag but it was like 4:30 on a week day. He asked me how I wanted my hair cut. I told them that I wanted to leave it long. Just around an inch off all around. He said no problem or something like that. He immediately pulled out the clippers. Now my hair is super short on the sides and super long on top. As soon as he was done he asked how it was. I told him this is not what I asked for. I wanted to leave it long. His response was "that'll be Eleven dollars." Worse than his response when I pulled out my card to pay he said cash only. I asked what to do if I don't have cash. He said leave your ID and bring back cash. He Jedi mind tricked me. I just did it but brought back exactly $11. I will never pay for a bad haircut again. If I don't go to a place I know I will tell them exactly what I want. Then I will tell them if you start with clippers and shave my head after I tell you I want my hair long then I will not pay for my haircut. I might have to go to my regular place and pay for them to fix the uneven chop they gave me. Any thoughts on this? read more

I wanted to try this place out because it's kinda close to where I live. So here is my honest review. I took my 12 year old son here for a hair cut. The first handful of times we had a good experience. They did their thing and we were out of there in no time. So I'll give them one star for that. Except for the last time. First thing is first, I am clear and direct when it comes to my sons hair needs. and 4 out of 6x they listen. note: my sons hair is thick & a bit curly. He never grows it out. It's always cut short so Its always easy to maintain. So we do a #3 on top #2 on the sides with fade and 1 and a half on the very bottom. Most of the barbers (all women I've been guided to) are decent and do a good job. So I'll give them another star for that. Except for the last barber person I last encountered. I don't know her name, so I'll describe her. She is a heavy set woman mid 50s or early 60s, short blonde hair with medium skin tone and wears glasses. She didn't listen to my needs and ruined my sons hair. She cut it all one size, super short all over with a bad fade. It just looked horrible. So since I spoked up (FYI I wasn't a b**** about it either) and said this isn't what I asked for & "complained" about my sons hair. She said some things, didn't apologize and then directed my son and I with a second barber lady to fix her mess. Unfortunately nothing could be done to fix it. He hated it and felt horrible, and covered his head with a baseball cap. I paid of course, and left no tip cause of the lousy job. (& I always leave a tip) But that's not the end of it, we felt so bad and felt so disrespected on top of it. because on our way out of the business, the only male barber, mid 50s that sits in the very first chair when u you come into the business made a rude comment about us. (So rude, and Unprofessional) so due to this whole experience I will never step foot in this establishment ever again. Update: I found new haircut place where I feel happy and comfortable. All our needs are met consistently and they really care for their costumers. Plus its cheaper, 10 bucks (cash only) it's called The haircut place, off of Palomar St. in Chula Vista. Went there with a guy friend and they were quick, cheap, and definitely knew what they were doing. It was a better haircut than the ones he gets at hipster barber shops! Absolutely disappointed every time I've gone here. I showed several pictures of the kind of fade I wanted, and the barber didn't do it at all. He said it would be a 1, and I knew that was fine. I opened my phone camera to watch the whole thing, and it still looked like he didn't care. He was not careful at all with the line around my ear to the back of my head-- completely jagged like a Mario Kart map. Never even stopped to ask if I was sure of the length he was cutting. Never asked how I wanted the sideburns, squared or pointed. He squared one, left the other pointed. What the heck. I've been to better barbers, my parents happen to insist this due to "distance." To start with, I looked at their website. It stated that a regular haircut was $10. When I arrived, the actual cost was $13. I wasn't in the mood to fight it, so I sat down and the haircut began. I just wanted a trim, nothing fancy or too time consuming. I then was told that because only a scissors was being used it would cost an extra $2. Not sure why, but the haircut continued. 10 minutes later it was over. $15 for 10 minutes of work, that works out to be $90 an hour. Good deal for the barber, not so sure a good deal for the client. read more
