I happened to be in town right before my epic birthday weekend began, so I decided to see what the NYC barber scene was like. I was NOT disappointed! The shop itself is rather small, but they keep it live with good conversation and Latin tunes jammin'. When it was my turn, Frank warmly greeted me and just from saying hello I could tell I liked the guy. I got one of the best cuts I've gotten in a long time! And I paid way less than I do in the DMV area! It was so good that I just might have to go to NYC whenever I need a cut, though it might be a lot lol. But seriously, if I'm ever in NY when I need a haircut, I'm going to contact Frank. Also, everyone here speaks Spanish. Don't feel left out, though, because everyone is really nice. I might use this as an opportunity to practice myself!

I've been following Adrian on social media for several years. I love his work, and through social media, you can truly see his authentic self. He is kind, charismatic, and an incredibly skilled artist. Those qualities shine through online, and in person they absolutely radiate. When I arrived for my appointment, I was a bit lost because there are two buildings with the same building number. I called the salon but hung up before anyone answered because I finally figured out which building it was. Adrian ended up calling me back and jokingly gave me a hard time about hanging up. Apparently, I made him run and do cardio only to rudely hang up on him! When I arrived at the salon, I was honestly blown away by how beautiful and spacious it was. From the outside, I couldn't tell how amazing the interior would be. You see it on Instagram, but experiencing it in person is completely different. Adrian introduced himself and offered me a beverage--tea or coffee. I patiently waited while he finished with his client. When it was my turn, it felt like Adrian and I had known each other for years. The conversation flowed so naturally and effortlessly. If I didn't have other plans, I probably would have stayed there all day talking with him and the staff. Shoot, I would have helped sweep and clean up--maybe even wash clients' hair if he had let me! Now, let's talk about my haircut. Adrian is a magician with scissors and clippers. I walked in looking a mess and walked out with my confidence level at 100 and climbing to infinity. The man is talented! Honestly, part of me didn't want to leave a review because I wanted to keep this salon all to myself. But I'm not selfish. I want everyone to experience Adrian's creativity, talent, and genuine kindness for themselves. You won't be disappointed. And if you are, my dear, the problem might just be you. To be transparent, I was looking for a fade but still wanted to look feminine. I came across this salon. Nef happened to be available so I said a prayer and booked the appointment. I was less stressed because I was able to still cancel the day of, in the event I came to my senses and decided to head to Harlem for braids instead. Something in my soul said "set yourself free, Girl". I took the train and less than an hour I was there. I was very timid because I have been braiding my hair for the past 15 years. I haven't been in a salon in about 8 years. I can't remember the last time I was in a Barber Shop. The space was welcoming. The gentleman that greeted me was very nice and let me know where to wait. Nef was prompt for the appointment. I loved his non judgmental demeanor and compassion he showed towards me and my hair. I loved the cut he gave me. He was very professional and made me feel comfortable. I had confidence and wanted to show off my head after the haircut. Later, at dinner I got lots of compliments with my makeup and jewelry.
