I message prime time here on yelp and the pricing was up front and reasonable. Tech arrived within the arrival time frame was knowledgeable and completed the task within 20 minutes. I call them first the next time i need service.

I explained…read morebeforehand that the equipment was new, the system was operating, and based on the installation it should only need about half a pound of additional refrigerant. The technician looked everything over and agreed that roughly half a pound was probably about right. He was professional, and I have no complaint with him personally. The service-call charge was $119, which I considered reasonable. The problem was Colonial's refrigerant pricing. I was told R-454B was over $350 per pound, and that Colonial has a one-pound minimum charge, even if they only use half a pound. So my cost would be around $700 a pound. The total quote came to about $470. That means roughly $350 of the bill was for the refrigerant charge. For comparison, R-454B is currently being sold by established refrigerant suppliers in 20-pound cylinders for roughly $405 to $510 per cylinder -- about $20 to $25.50 per pound. One supplier is currently selling a factory-sealed Honeywell 20-pound cylinder for $420, or $21 per pound. Obviously an HVAC company has overhead and is entitled to make a profit. I don't expect them to sell refrigerant at their cost. But charging more than $300 for something currently selling in full cylinders for around $20-$25 per pound, combined with a one-pound minimum when the technician expects to use about half a pound, is a markup I'm simply not willing to pay.

They plugged in a tester and informed me that it was the motor control module that was bad. The cost to repair was $1200.00 and the system was 18 years old. I elected to have a complete system (furnace and AC) installed. Crain was there the next day and did a complete install in one day. There was some miscommunication about Lennox financing but that issue falls to Lennox rather than Crain. Workers were prompt and courteous. They covered my basement carpet with a tarp and even covered my wood flooring steps with a tarp trying to be overly cautious of my home. I thought the tarp on the steps was dangerous for them but that's what they did. I don't believe the cost of the system was out of line. Prompt service, good pricing, courteous workers, steps taken to protect my home, and the install went smoothly. Not sure what more you could ask for. There is always someone who will find fault with some minuscule detail but they did a good job for me. The most important question, Would I recommend this company to you. Answer, Yes. I was pleased with their service and would like to use them in the future.

After the energy assessment, I received the recommendations and was surprised that they simply wanted to swap out the existing 100-amp panel for another 100-amp panel. I expressed my concerns about the addition of electric HVAC components and the current capacity of our system. I even provided information from the Department of Energy and State of Michigan EGLE (see attached), which strongly recommends upgrading the capacity when the electrical panel is done in conjunction with a heat pump, furnace, and water heater upgrade. Despite my concerns and the information provided, Shuaib Yacoub (project manager), said that I wasn't worth his time. He even blocked me on Facebook to prevent a negative review.
