Extremely disappointed with my experience at Washington Radiology Center in Sterling,VA. I had a thyroid ultrasound in April 24th and more than 3 weeks went by and my ordering doctor never received the results. After waiting and hearing nothing, I finally called myself and learned the results had apparently never been sent to my doctor. Patients should not have to chase down imaging results and wonder whether their results were reviewed or communicated. This isn't just an inconvenience, it's a patient care issue. People get imagining done because they are trying to rule out or evaluate potentially serious conditions. If someone simply assumed their doctor had received the report and didn't follow up, important findings could be delayed. Definitely find another center if you care about your health. read more

Visted Inova Loudoun after many years for a pre-op visit. Parking still aways to walk to the south entrance but once inside staff friendly and the Pre-op department very efficient and courteous. read more

I had an MRI done in the Woodbridge office. The people in the office were very nice and professional. However, it's been over a week and my doctor still has not received the results. I called to inquire and the staff was very unsympathetic and said the reports take at least 7 business days to produce. I have had MRI's with other companies and it just takes 1-2 days. read more

Wow! This location is night and day from the Ashburn one. Things run much more smoothly and, not that the Ashburn people are mean in the least bit, but people here just seem so genuine and so happy to help in any way that they can. The Sterling location is not nearly overcrowded either. First off, how on earth could I be wowed by a radiology office, right? Well, this place has a real knack for hiring some great people. Everyone at the front desk is wonderful. They are kind, patient, helpful, and sincere. Then, when I had to get the longest, most boring scan known to man done, I was luckiest enough to have the best person imaginable to do it for me, Linda. Linda is so incredibly warm and reassuring. She is knowledgeable and experienced, and she tells you just the right amount of information about what she's doing and why. She was so kind and funny that she really made a long, boring, somewhat awkward scan bearable. I really can't imagine a more pleasant person to have spent two hours with, haha. In short, I would gladly drive to the Sterling location if I ever have to get another xray. From start to finish, everyone was just a real joy! They made what could have been an annoying session of feeling like I was being poked and prodded by everyone feel more like being seen by an old family friend. I go there all of the time for all of my mammograms & procedures. They do take my health insurance, however, I had a portion left over of around 400.00. I had JUST lost my job cause of covid & didnt have the money to pay the whole bill. I wanted to set up a payment plan that was less than what they wanted me to pay. I said I cant. Their response was " if you dont then we will send you to collections. btw it is illegal to do so. WOW this is how they treat their patients. I WILL take MY money elsewhere. The staff was so efficient polite and helpful. The nurse that helped me Josie, was an angel. I had a reaction to the iodine and she kept checking on me (as did the radiologist). Needed an MRI on my knee. Had to wait a week to get an appointment. Staff was friendly and helpful. My doctor had received my report from the radiologist before I even made it back home! The report was super detailed and every medical professional who saw it was impressed by the detailed report. I was relieved to not have to wait days to figure out what was going on. read more

I received 2 CT scan docs from my pcp. I called 2 RIA offices, Sterling and Lansdowne. I set up an appt at the Lansdowne office. Yesterday which was the appt date when I arrived they told me I was not scheduled for an appt. I was furious. My pcp said the Sterling location was a walk in so I went there and they set up an appt. I went as scheduled. They send you a text to waitincar, call in. When you call the number there was no answer. It was 90 degrees outside. I went inside and waited. After my scheduled time arrived plus 15 minutes I inquired about my appt since EVERYBODY that arrived after me went in for their procedure. They never added my name into their computer. How professional!!!!!!! read more

My rating is very specifically about their protection of records. I needed copies of reports from 2 years ago for a dr appt tomorrow. I called this morning and the lady was very stern with me, insisting that I must appear in front of them personally with a govt issued photo ID and they would produce them on the spot. But then my day got out of hand, I wasn't going to make it to their office before it closed. I called back. This time it was much easier: Me: Oh good, you're still there! I need to get copies of some reports faxed to me. Her: Patients date of birth? Me: (I answered) Her: Last name? Me: (I answered) Her: I have it right here. There were X exams in XXXX (she rattled off what they were). Do you need all of the reports? Me: Yes, please. Her: What is the fax number? Me: (I provided) Her: You'll have them in about 15 minutes. Have a good evening! Me: Thanks! Then I hung up and realized she didn't even ask me who I was. Anyone who knew I'd ever been there and knew my date of birth and last name could have received these reports. NOT GOOD. read more

We took our 4 yeard old to RIA for a CT Scan. We were nervous parents hoping and RIA just made teh whole experience painless and easy. To start the office is nice and clean. The receptionist who handled our appointment was extremely kind and helpful. During the scan the 2 people handling the scan were amazing. One of them actually got on the machine to show my son exactly what was going to happen and then held his hand through the process. They provided our images right away and promised to fax the details to our doctor before the day's end. On the out my son was given a certificate for his bravery which made hime very happy. Like others who have commented on Yelp....it is seems strange to be wowed by a radiology office but we had such a great experience it deserves to acknowledged. read more

This is the first medical facility I have ever been to where the person making my appointment actually accommodated me. I only get one week day of per month. When I let the appointment person know that, she got me in same day! At the appointment I found everyone who worked there friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Absolutely the best mri experience I have ever had.I really recommend this facility! If I need another mri, this is where I'm going!! read more

I recently went to this center for an ultrasound and loved the whole experience. The receptionist was very nice and patient with my 3 year old (who loves to touch everything). I had to wait for about 10 minutes but didn't mind it since my daughters were playing in the kids area). The reception is clean and beautiful. The radiologist was very helpful, and the results were faxed to my doctor on the same day. I'm going back in a couple of days for a biopsy and received a call today from one of the technicians explaining the procedure and what to expect. I'm very happy so far with this place, will update if something changes. read more

Both the Sterling and Lansdowne locations employ incredible medical professionals that truly care about their patients and know their fields respectively. I have been a patient there for several years and I have never had a bad experience. Let me emphasize, I have been there a lot :-) and each and every time I'm always met with a really kind greeting, appointments are very timely/very little if any at all waiting is required, and the medical staff again are just extremely courteous, knowledgeable and caring. read more

Great place, even better nuclear med technologist. The nuclear med technologist (older lady) with a lot of sarcasm, was just so nice and comforting. She made my experience so much better because I was quite nervous she calmed down. It was super easy my gastric emptying appointment I had done. read more

Radiology Imaging Associates of Sterling is terrible!! The waits are always an hour+ (even WITH an appointment, even if you ask for the first appointment of the morning - thinking they can't possibly be late at 8 a.m. Wrong - STILL an hour wait), and their business processes are equally bad - with each appointment, they act as if they've never seen you before, and give you the raft of 'new patient' paperwork - most places print out last years' and simply have you update the information, if anything has changed. (address/phone/insurance, etc.). The billing processes are equally bad - I've gotten a bill that says "pay this amount" and "this is not a bill" - all on the same piece of paper. The staff is indeed NOT friendly (as the owner's post notes) I quit using them a few years ago and would never go back. (I'd give them ZERO stars, except the system doesn't seem to allow that.) read more

Best experience for an x-ray, I've had with any of my 3 kids! I took my 2 year old son in this morning, expected to be there an hour. The waiting room was busy, still it only took 2 mins to register and another 5 to be seen. From the receptionist to the the technicians, everyone was friendly and professional. The techs were very friendly and patient with my son. They checked the x-rays before we left, whole trip took about 15 mins. Unbelievable! What a relief. Will definitely go there again. read more

I had an MRI done here on April 9th, 2019. Professional front desk staff and technicians too! Today, I returned with a disc (from another facility) that needed to be looked at, to compare the images. The disc was faulty. Fernando in the records department went above and beyond to help with my problem. He even called the another facility to find out how to get a new disc and the report sent over to them. I was so thankful for his help. Since moving to Northern VA, I've had all my imaging done at this place. They are FIVE stars!!! read more

Dishonest. I am very sorry I chose this place to do mammography. After initial pictures, a radiologist suppose to review them to make sure they are good and/or no additional pictures needed. If additional pictures needed, they are done at the same time, with the same order. This is normal practice and that is how it was done in other centers I visited in the past 15 years. However, in this place it does not work like that. The appointment literally took 5 minutes for 4 pictures in this place and they let me go. So, once a radiologist reviewed pictures, they called me saying I have to come back for more pictures and they want me to bring a NEW order, which means that now it is not covered 100% by an insurance. Moreover, they billed my insurance for 3D pictures that they did not do! This is money-making business. read more

I had a lot of difficulty scheduling and getting an MRI authorized. The scheduling department, which separate from the imaging center was very inefficient and difficult to communicate with. I made multiple phone calls back and forth wasting time to get an MRI authorized. Also, the customer service reps were rude and made it very difficult to deal with them. I just had a great experience at RIA! I walked in early and they saw me right away. In and out in 15 minutes! Everyone was pleasant and the facility was spotless. A nice calming environment for an awkward yet necessary mammogram. I highly recommend this location!! read more

AVOID. Zero Stars. AVOID. Disrespectful front office / receptionists. The phone system to schedule is unbelievable difficult. Trying to schedule in person is hard, too, due to immature/unprofessional receptions who literally give some patients a hard time for their own entertainment. I have witnessed this on many occasions, for MANY YEARS at more than one Virginia location. Worst example: three front staff falsely accused my teen of throwing a clipboard at a receptionist - I was there and witnessed the truth -- my teen was polite, walking away and three feet from the reception when the receptionist intentionally dropped the clipboard loudly on her desk then told her colleagues that my teen did it. They called their supervisor, B, and told her their lie. B blindly defended her employees, though she admitted she did not see what actually transpired; i.e., her employee dropping the clipboard and blaming it on a teen. Why get medical imaging at a place run by immature bullies? RIA is not worth our time. read more

In my opinion, the practice borders on unethical & I won't return. I had an order for a test. When I arrived, I was told RIA did NOT participate w/my insurance & would not file the claim. I was told I would need to file the claim myself AND pay upfront, AND I would need to sign a waiver stating that I understood they were not participating and likely that my insurance would not pay for the exam. I had no reason to doubt them so I signed the waiver and paid the $122 fee. Other doctors who don't participate in my plan have me pay them directly, I file the claim, and I'm reimbursed for the covered amount. After 3+ months of filing & refiling the claims & calling RIA repeatedly for the additional info the insurance carrier needed, I received an EOB from insurance, showing that RIA WAS a participating provider w/my insurance company and since the test was not covered but RIA was participating, I owed $0; I was not responsible for any payment. Called RIA to straighten this out and get a refund. First no one returned my calls. Finally spoke to someone who said I was never told RIA wasn't a participating provider (now I'm called a liar?) & the waiver I signed stated I knew the test wasn't covered but I agreed to pay for it on my own. I was told by RIA that my insurance NEVER pays for this test so they know payment will be denied & as they're a preferred provider I will owe nothing, so they always ask for payment ahead of testing and have you sign the waiver. Basically, they've found a way to get around their agreement w/the insurance company. If they'd been truthful with me initially, I would not have signed the waiver and would not have had the test. I know I should have read the waiver carefully but unfortunately I trusted what RIA told me and signed it anyway. So I won't receive a refund, RIA used - in my opinion - questionable ethics to receive payment. Never again. read more

I had mammogram, ultrasound and cyst aspiration done at RIA Sterling office this morning. Everything was scheduled so that it's all done quickly within one day. Kudos to the awesome schedule and all the techs and radiologist there who worked very fast and very efficient. Everyone was friendly, experienced and knowledgable. I took only 1 hour from registering as a new patient to get all three procedures done this morning. Record time! Mammogram: I am 34 years old and a size "A-" I heard from several sources that it would hurt like hell. My first mammogram experience turned to be a very pleasant one. RIA Mammogram technician handled my boobs and the machine like a dream. It was "PAINLESS". Really! No pain at all. I felt a little pressure and that's it. She did not press it that hard and was able to capture several images for the radiologist. I highly recommend RIA to all women. I only see female staff there today and once again, everyone was nice, friendly and professional. read more

Visted the Sterling location after Dr said I needed a CT Scan. When I called for appt this were very nice and offered me several time choices and were very informative. Once I arrived at the location, although busy, everyone was pleasant and I once registered I was seen within 5 minutes. The waiting is nice and well decorated. My technicain Jason greeting me was veyr friendly and took be back to prepare for the CT Scan. He was clear and explained all he was doing throughout the process and was very friendly an nice as he did it. I was nervous as I had not had this doen before and he made things go very smoothly. I was walking ou the door to go home in about 40 minutes. This place is great. It looks, good rooms are spotless and the staff and technicns are terrific. I would not hesitate to return here if needed. I do recommend this location. read more

I agree strongly with other positive comments. Required xray and MRI the xray was performed within minutes of arriving the tech was considerned that I was comfortable through out the imaging process. The MRI was denied by the insurance and the staff that called me to report this was very concerned. In the end once the MRI was scheduled it was performed at another facility, and had to wait there at least 30 min after my appointment, everyone at that facility seemed very disorganized compared to RIA in Sterling. In the future if I require imaging I would return to Sterling. read more
