    Bedbugs
    James D.

Found bed bugs in my bed. Came to town to work at the hospital for business. Woke up the first morning to bed bugs in the bed. First contact with the GM was fine, offered room move, pest inspection from Orkin... Orkin confirmed no bugs in my things (ALWAYS zip up your suitcase). Came back from a long day of working to get my bag out of the room. Room is still torn apart from inspection. Go to the front desk, asked for a room move, and denied they said the hotel was sold out. I am not going back in that room! After a while they found me a room, feel like it was their last sell room...loud AC, etc. INSPECT THE HECK out of the bed, take a shower, pass out. Ask the GM for compensation the next day, she tells me to call the person who booked my room.... our own executive assistant. Contact Marriott, they refer me back to the GM who again denies any compensation. Very disappointing.

    Broken door on AC unit

Oh my!!! Chose this hotel because of the rating and because it was a Marriott. The lobby was clean and hallways were clean. The room seemed clean but the bathroom faucet was broken so was the cover for the AC unit. The bath gel container was empty, the towels were thinned from wear and tear and OMG the sheets they were absolutely HORRIBLE!!! I was only spending one night and told the front desk about the broken faucet that they offered to fix but I was in my way out to an event so I told them not to do it until I got back. They never called to check. When we finally hit the sack, I was so disappointed . Since we were leaving early in the morning I slept sitting up and was up early. And again to a disappointing shower due to the very small bar of soap and towels that were like exfoliating pads. At 3 am that morning, I was so ready to leave. All I could think of was getting back home to take a nice hot shower, drying off with my towels from Costco and going to bed in my sheets from there as well. Marriott needs to do better. There comes a time when these things must be thrown out and rooms inspected. SHAME!!

This hotel was awful. We had ants coming out of the electric outlet in the bathroom... on the FOURTH FLOOR.

What a terrible experience. Check in was fine but the room was horrible. We had ANTS CRAWLING ALL OVER OUR BATHROOM! They were mainly coming out of the electric outlet in the bathroom but we saw others around the window area as well. Not sure how ANTS made it up to the FOURTH FLOOR, but I took it as a sign of poor cleaning somewhere in the hotel. The thermostat was also wonky. When we called to complain about the ants (we were bitten), the staff said they would tell the manager. The manager, Teresa Fuller, took her time responding to us, then insinuated we were making up a story about ants being in the room despite us having photo and video evidence. If you don't like ants, dirty rooms or poor customer service STAY AWAY.

I like to imagine the industry that played out in the space where I'm resting, the thought of someone taking a break from wheeling and dealing to look out of this same window in the 1940s and what else was going on around them. I'd never been to Meridian before, just passed through on the same road trip home after the holidays. It's about 4 and a half hours from NOLA and the perfect place to stay before the final leg of the trip home so that we'd be home at a reasonable hour. Meridian feels a bit frozen in time and this hotel is situated in a quaint downtown area. It's not very lively, even on a Saturday night but I believe the rooftop bar here might be where the action is (I passed it by when getting water in the gym that's on the same floor). I like a Tribute property, which always promises a less corporate/more boutique stay. It has its charm (original mail chute, be still my heart!) and quirks (tiny rooms, old timey elevators that take their time). The main lobby is mainly the restaurant (closed when I arrived around 9pm on a Saturday) with reception in what seems like bank teller windows. I appreciate the convenience of a Starbucks right next door (entrance from the lobby) and if we weren't looking to rest after a endless car ride, there's a few places to get food/drinks within walking distance. Rooms are cozy, beds are excellent and the bathroom is small/nothing special. Would this be an ideal stay for a vacation? Probably not, though I don't expect a vacation in Meridian anytime soon, if ever. I'd stay again, as a more interesting road trip stay than your typical Marriott Courtyards/Fairfield/Residence Inns. When we stayed it was only a little over 100 dollars/night, which is pretty sweet.

Our room was spacious, clean w with w very comfortable beds. Mattress was one of the best I had in many of my hotel stays. On the other hand the room had a very limited space for clothes. Although we have deep roots in the area, we were visiting for our family reunion. The least that can be given is common courtesy, especially as paying patrons. I noticed it was not only myself, my family, but also other people who 'looked like' me that were spoken to harshly. We would have stayed elsewhere if other places weren't fully booked. Thankfully, by the time we checked out a wonderful young lady by the name of Tourea was pleasant, she heard my complaint(s) after asking how was our stay, and even apologized on behalf of the rudeness that was displayed. She did not have to do that! I would not recommend staying here, unless it is a last resort of some kind. The rooms were fine - microwave and fridge included. The breakfast was below mediocre, not good at all. So, I opted for the fruit.
