Wow! Reading the reviews before mine, I am shocked! We had such a great experience! The lobby was beautiful! Everything was so clean! The staff accommodating. Let's get into it shall we? Pros: No grimness anywhere! Carpets clean in room and hallways! No dust anywhere. Bedding clean and super comfy! Eve for the pull out. The bedding were fresh and clean! Bathroom clean and towels soft. Our room was huge and did not want to leave. Pool area clean as well. Nothing gross in the water. No sliminess or residue. Oh and it was heated! Whcih was amazing on the cold day we had! Hot tub was a roaring beast that just hit perfect! Cons: When turning on the hot tub it did not work. Needed to request the front desk to turn it on. While strange I realize now that the tub does not turn off so why have it on while ithers are not there. However they were super nice and Accommodating. The only other con was breakfast. It was pretty disappointing. Not much options and the premade stuff was awful. But hey, get a bagel and some eggs and your good to go! HOT- TUB - OUT Of ORDER Stayed here again and not even close to as good as it was . I booked here for the Hot Tub and nowhere on website nor was I told it was out of order . Not until I had to unconventionally (as all guests need to ) go to the front desk To be let into the pool area , only Thrn did the clerk tell me the Hot Tub is NOT Working. Room / Bathroom worn - Specifically wallpaper needs replacement ( minor detail) Breakfast is Less than Fairfield Quality , Try for yourself other Fairfield inns and you will see , this one sucks After a week of Marriot Calls , this hotel gave me 1,000 points back which according to " The Points Guy " website they are worth .008 cents each so that is $8.00 refund. We've stayed here every year in July since this hotel opened and something has clearly changed, and it's not just covid. Their biggest mistake was not telling us when we checked in that you had to ask to have your room cleaned. Communication. When we discovered this, they told us that had we read the notice on our television we would have learned of this. They know that if you ask at check-in, everyone would say yes. The grass surrounding the hotel hasn't been mowed in weeks and has tall weeds. When we asked, they explained it was because of Covid and they were short-staffed. Why not hire someone in town to do this, I'm not sure. But the grass was mowed across the street at the Hampton Inn. Friendly service and clean lobby. Nice size rooms and a spacious bathroom. On our trip to Canada, we stopped here twice. Both times however, they "ran out of soap"?? Their pool was a decent size, but the hot tub was out of outer. Finally, ever since covid, I've seen all Marriott breakfasts go down hill. I emailed Regional Manager Nik Patel as well as customer.care@marriott.com after my stay but neither party cared to get back to me. Thought I'd write and discuss my recent experience at the Plattsburgh, NY Marriot. I stayed there Saturday June 11th until June 12th. I am a loyal Marriott customer and stay at Marriott hotels when travelling for business and pleasure whenever possible. I've always been impressed with my Marriot experiences up until this weekend. My wife and I decided to spend the weekend motorcycling through the Adirondack Mountain range. I noticed that Plattsburgh had a Marriott so booked it well in advance. We arrived around 9pm on Saturday night and were greeted by a pleasant front desk woman. She told us to come down for a continental breakfast between 6am and 9am. We were checked in and had no issues. The only thing I will say I noticed was the wall paper around the toilet was discolored.... I believe it's from heavy cleaners, but at initial sight it looks like urine splatter all across the wall. I can overlook things like this in a hotel as I understand not everything is going to be perfect. What I can't overlook was my experience the following day. We woke up and went down for breakfast just before 8:30am. There was nothing out... Everything was cleared out. All that was there was an almost empty coffee carafe and a toaster with plates beside it. I asked front desk about it and they claimed that breakfast had already been cleaned up. I pointed to a sign right at the breakfast counter advertising that breakfast went until 9am. The front desk girl went back to the kitchen and the kitchen women came out and told up she cleans up breakfast before 8:30am..... I told her breakfast was advertised until 9am.... she then said she would get something but couldn't get bread because, "due to covid Marriott won't let us put bread out anymore". Then why is there a toaster with plates beside it? I have stayed at a number of Marriott's during the heart of Covid and they all had bread out (Canadian Marriotts). They all had 2 slices of bread wrapped together so people didn't make contact with other people's breakfast. The juice machine was also marked "out of order" with no other options (such as juice put out). I checked the machine thinking maybe only one juice of out but the entire machine was broken. Anyways, while we sat, a family of 2 adults and 3 kids came down, as well as a single gentleman, and discovered the same breakfast experience as us, then left. A women at a table near us was drinking coffee and commented to us that she came down at 8:20am and there was nothing out. She was unhappy. At around 8:45am the kitchen girl brought out some rock hard scones, the cereal stands, and a couple breakfast sandwiches. Another room arrived right away and took all the breakfast sandwiches leaving none and they weren't refilled. My wife had some cereal but all there was for milk was Homogenized Milk, Almond Milk or Soy Milk.... no 2% or Skim which are the most common...... I sat and had a coffee and saw the kitchen woman come out and what I believe to be the maintenance man approach her and told her she should keep breakfast out until 9am but other then that, "she is doing an awesome job", then yelled "cool beans" across the dining room..... I might be less annoyed by this but I have now read the reviews for this Marriott and the last 2 months of reviews cite the exact same breakfast issues that I had so I know this is an ongoing issue. As a result of your staff not doing their job properly, my wife and I had to go out for breakfast to the nearby Perkins for a total of $32 which was an unnecessary expense. I'm not complaining about spending $32 dollars, I'm complaining about the principle behind it. I know this isn't a standard Marriott experience, this is in-fact, the only bad Marriott experience I've ever had. I included pictures taken of the "breakfast" taken at 8:45am. Been staying here a few times a year for biz trips since it opened! Am an ambassador elite at Marriott. This year it was HORRIFIC! Breakfast was shameful. I'd rather they offer nothing. How can a Marriott have out bagels and English muffins - that are stale - and no TOASTER! Hot breakfast was lumpy oatmeal. No honey, cinnamon or nuts to put in it or fruit. Coffee terrible and cold. Will be booking at the Hampton in. Across the street from now on. Better breakfast and friendlier staff some of my colleagues say. Last year during my stay 2021 amid covid breakfast was eggs and bacon. Don't use covid as an excuse! read more

This is a quaint little hotel in a quaint little city. I've stayed here a few times and haven't really had much to say either good or bad. This time when I checked in, it looks like housekeeping did a bad job in cleaning the room. There was a used towel and showercap hanging behind the bathroom door, some random hair in the tub and you could tell that the sheets weren't changed and prepared for a new guest. My guess is that they cleaned the room as if the previous guest was coming back instead of a new guest coming in. The good news is that when I informed the front desk, they had me speak to the manager and everyone was very understanding and apologetic. Not my normal experience here, but worth noting. Again, the staff at the hotel were great in handling the situation and expect that this is just a one-off. read more

I checked in the hotel on 2/19/2022. The company I am working with selected this hotel for my long term stay. It is about 30 of us staying here with the majority of us being African American. Plattsburgh, NY has a population of 19,599 with 88.73% white and 4.17% Black or African American. You would think that a chain as large as Marriott would know how to deal with diversity. Unfortunately, the owner of this location, Nick Pateo does not! The first incident occurred on 03/05/2022. I was awaiting a time sensitive package containing medication. I received a text message that my package was delivered to the front desk. I approached the front desk but no one was there. I waited about 10 minutes as I assumed the front desk person was assisting a guest. No problem. When the front desk person approached the desk, I explained that a package was delivered and I am here to pick it up. She searched for the package for about 30 seconds and said that there was no package here in my name. I asked if she was sure as I just received the text less than a minute ago. She explained that this happens all of the time and that it may be in the mailbox. The entire time she spoke to me, she never made eye contact as if she was disregarding my presence. She continued on to explain that she is busy and she will make note of the package in the log or I can check back later. Total disregard as if everyone else was more important and I was nobody. I then said to her, you were away from the front desk assisting another guest, so can you kindly extend me the same courtesy and check your mailbox as this package is time sensitive. She was not expecting me to challenge her decision and became frustrated. Another staff member who was present left to check the mailbox. When he returned she said still no package mam. At that point I returned to my room to follow up with the postal service and it was confirmed the package was dropped off moments ago. I felt racial tension so I decided to call to the front desk. When the staff answered the phone, I asked if this was the young lady I was speaking to and she said yes. She continued to say that the package was not there and they were looking for it. I said please check again because it was just delivered. Next, another young lady gets on the phone and says we are looking everywhere but can not find it. I asked if they could look for a package from California and Boom, my package was found. It was there the entire time. Human error is expected so it was okay as long as my package was found. The second young lady that assisted me, apologized and I went downstairs to receive my package. I thought this was the end of the mix up until I spoke with Nick Pateo on 03/13/2022. From the first day I checked in, there was an odor between the nightstand and the bed. I used air freshener to mask the smell and would sleep with my head under the cover. I chose to bring it to their attention when I requested house cleaning. This is a long term stay, so I cook in my room. When house cleaning arrived, I was cooking seafood. I explained to the young lady that there is an odor near the night stand and if she could check it out and spray for me. She moved the mattress and agreed there is an odor but could not find where it was coming from. She said she would spray it for me. After cleaning the room, she sprayed it again as she continued to smell it. After an hour as the smell remained, I decided to call downstairs to see what else could be done. This is when I experienced the most unprofessional, demeaning, racist customer service I have ever experienced from Nick Pateo. I called to the front desk, when Nick answered he was dry and rude. I explained that there was an odor in my room. He said well you are the only one who has been staying in the room. I said excuse me, this odor has been here since the first day I checked in. He continued to say well my cleaning staff says it smell like tuna. I said well maybe because I am cooking seafood but I am speaking of an odor between the nightstand and the bed. I expressed that his comment was insulting as I am a guest. I also explained that his cleaning staff smelled the same odor and tried her best to find it and spray. Out of the clear blue Nick says well if you don't like it, I can reach out to your company and you can stay else where because he did not want to deal with me anymore. Again, I was shocked by the way he was talking to me and I asked to speak to the manager. It was then that he explained he is the owner and this is where it ends. He continued with you made my front desk staff cry the other day over a package. I was so shocked as I had no idea this was an issue and never knew about making anyone cry. Nick brought up the package incident and said he was told that I was yelling at his staff and made her cry. I told Nick that I did not yell at her and asked if he was there during our conversation. I've been a marriott bonvoy member for over 15years. I've dealt with grumpy staff, room issue, subpar breakfast; and I'll take it in stride; no place is perfect. Though in all those years, I've never encountered a hotel general manager as rude, condescending, and completely unreasonable as the man running this hotel! I travel all over NYS for work, and generally always stay at marriott properties. I travel with a working canine,and have never been assessed a pet fee (because working dogs are treated with even more accommodations than even service or therapy dogs). The fee was $50 per night for 2 nights. I politely brought this to the General Managers attention, as he was the person working the desk when i went to check out. He said he only has to waive the fee for ada service dogs, and refused to remove the fee. He specifically said: "Prove it! Show me in writing where your police dog, is the same as a service dog.".... "and he obviously isnt properly trained, because the 1 time you walked in he was pulling on the leash, and didnt even have a vest on."..... A couple deep breaths and quick prayer for patience later, i walked out telling him that I'd be contacting marriott directly. Per marriotts website, it is a pet friendly property, and i saw other dogs during my stay; so perhaps his issue is only with law enforcement canines?!? read more

Rooms 128.00 a night, you need to reserve the pool area, becouse they don't tell you ahead of time, you only get cold breakfast, cereal, toast, you might get hot coffee, I stayed here for years every time I came through town, but they last few times here I was very disappointed, I don't think I'll be back to this motel, I'll check out the other motels in the area. read more

Upcharged after stay for "damage to room". Hotel claimed a $40 damage surcharge claiming that I was throwing away washclothes. I was simply throwing away MY OWN single use washclothes. The hotel towels, hand towels and washclothes were all returned either to the hotel laundry or the floor maid in a 1-for-1 exchange. Hotel management obviously clawed through my trash in search of something they could upcharge me for. Terrible experience both with this hotel and the credit card dispute services. The hotel is new, so we expected to have clean room. It was nice, clean and bathroom was very clean. The staffs were friendly, complementary breakfast was decent, gym (1 bike) was open 24hr, it does the job, and there's an indoor pool. For a Marriot, it's decent, don't expect a 5 star hotel in Plattsburgh. It's as good as it gets for a small town. read more

My wife and I are traveling trough to Quebec from N.J.. Found this newly built (one year) hotel with everything so new and clean in the room and perimeter. The coffee in the room was typically tasteless so I needed to go down to the restaurant to procure drinkable morning coffee. Out of the 100+ hotels that I have stayed at, this is bottom 3. Marriott should be embarrassed by a 17 minute wait to check-in at 7pm when no guest or person was in line ahead of me. The sole reception person was doing personal calls and then went on a smoke break. I saw a mouse and fecal matter on the floor. Then, the assigned room was not made up and looked like dead bugs or used sheets. It took nearly an hour to get a proper room. read more

We stayed here on a Tuesday night in the summer. The staff was friendly. Check in process easy. Rooms were decorated in modern decor. Everything seemed new and clean. Breakfast was free and included the normal fair.. English muffins, sweet muffins, waffles, cereal, cereal to go, apples, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, turkey Canadian bacon and hot coffee and cold juices. For the price point it is exactly what I was expecting. We had a nice stay. Seems like the best place to stay in town. Many cheaper options around but this is still very reasonably priced and is a nice hotel. They have an indoor pool but it closes at ten so we did not use it as we got in late. It looked nice however. This Fairfield Inn and Suites Plattsburg is not a fair representation of the Marriott reputation. Our stay was so uncomfortable and the hotel facility is in dire need of repairs. We were given a room whose carpeting was saturated from a bathroom leak from the bed to the bathroom wall. In speaking to staff we found that that room floods regularly. In fact the room next door is no longer used because of water damage, One can only imagine the fungus growing under the carpeting. We realized our situation as we stepped through the water on our way to bed. We were told no other room was available and they placed towels across a large section of carpeting. After gathering our things and redressing at 11:00 PM they miraculously found us another room. We needed to pack up and transport all our things to the new location. We paid by 20,000 points and upon checking out we said we hope that the 20,000 points would be deposited back into our Marriott Bonvoy account after this unconscionable experience. The assistant said she would suggest that to the owner and he would have the final say. We haven't heard a thing all this last week. No apologies from the owner or management ...a real lack of customer service. Save yourself a health risk and stay somewhere else in Plattsburg, NY. read more

We have stayed st this location many times over and was pleased. Our last stay however will be the final one. The owner was working the desk on checkout. We had a discrepancy and there was no attempt to fix the issue. Only was told quote verbatim, "There are other options down the road." Don't waste your money. The breakfast area was full of gnats. I mean there was so many on the wall above the coffee pot and toaster that it was disgusting. We was told that there used to be trap out for them.... so it is an ongoing issue that is not resolved. The holding container handles where gross and grimy along with the toaster, and the containers holding the dairy products. Not just one day, but on both days. They where not wiped at all from the day before. The toaster had the same residue on it in the same places both days. On Sunday, the sausage was cold. Not even like warm. Straight up cold. The same girl was working both mornings and she has been trained many times according to another employee. I see it as if the equipment is not being cleaned properly on what you can see. I then have concerns about what is not getting clean behind the scenes. Such as inside coffee holders, hands, inside toaster so on. I for one do not to be treated rudely and am truly turned off by the uncleanliness of the breakfast area. Will take my money and health somewhere else. read more

Absolutely horrible management. The Fairfield made planning our wedding a million times more stressful, as we learned just a few weeks before the wedding date that the management here is completely dishonest, unreliable and incompetent, and we ultimately had to move our wedding guests to another local hotel. My husband and I reserved about 20 rooms for our wedding block at the Fairfield to accommodate dozens of guests that were traveling across the country to attend our wedding. It was a total nightmare. We were told time and time again that the hotel would be open well in advance of our wedding (it was originally scheduled to open 2 months before our wedding date), only to have the rug pulled out from us just a few weeks before our wedding date for a delayed opening that was clearly foreseeable on their part. We even had to reach out to the Fairfield about this after a few of our guests reported being unable to make their reservations and a manager of another local hotel randomly called us to "confirm" the transfer of all of our guests from the Fairfield to their hotel. When we reached out to Fairfield to try to figure out what was going on, we were casually told "right, we won't be open in time, but we've contacted another hotel to try to move all of your guests. How rude of the other manager to call you like that." Are you kidding? How do you do this without notifying us, and then proceed to blame the other hotel? Unbelievable. The Fairfield collected the credit card numbers of all of our guests, only to then call each guest individually a few weeks before the wedding to cancel the reservation, at which point our guests then had to call the other hotel to book an entirely new reservation. Our guests were super confused after receiving multiple phone calls from the Fairfield (most of which were made without our input/consent). In addition, we had to completely change our contract with the wedding shuttle we had booked, as a shuttle was originally scheduled to pick up our guests from the Fairfield and transport them to/from our wedding and reception locations. And it doesn't end there. Apparently the Fairfield has done the same thing to other wedding blocks, as the manager of the other local hotel notified us that they would not allow the Fairfield to transfer 100% of our guests to that hotel unless Fairfield pre-paid the difference in the rate since Fairfield had stiffed them on similar room block transfers in the past. Fairfield flat out refused to do this, even after multiple pleas from us. The rate difference was not large; in the grand scheme of things at Marriott, we're talking pennies. So then in order to ensure our guests would have a roof over their heads after traveling across the country to attend our wedding, we had to establish a new (third!) room block at a completely different hotel, notify our guests, and change the shuttle contract yet again. I seriously would not wish this experience on my worst enemy. Planning a wedding is stressful enough as it is. Hotels should facilitate the planning process, not impede it, particularly when they are making a big chunk of change off of the reservations from room blocks. It is absolutely astounding to me how the Fairfield managed to not only drop the ball at every juncture, but demonstrate a complete and utter lack of concern and respect for its customer. This is one of the worst businesses I have ever encountered. I will never recommend the Fairfield to anyone and I have specifically advised out-of-towners to steer clear of this place. read more

For this though the hotel needs to up its breakfast game; boxes scrambled eggs cooked in microwave are yucky. We thought the rooms were very nice and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful! We enjoyed the hot tub very much and will stay again ! The only thing that was not so good was a few things at the breakfast ! The eggs were cold and the bacon was not cooked very much ! My daughter went to get water for her tea and there was black specks floating in the water ! We did go toward the end so that may have been part of the problem ! But otherwise a very nice stay ! Very nice, new and clean. We had a great stay overnight on our way to Montreal. The exercise room is small but adequate with two treadmills and an elliptical machine. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was typical but well done. Everything was clean and fresh. read more

Very Nice hotel...stayed here during business travel...front desk staff was very courteous and responsive to my request for maintenance ...the room was clean, and comfortable with user friendly TV guide and remote...very nice complimentary breakfast with vegan sausage!....very close to restaurants and shopping area.
