Long trip from New Jersey to visit family in P'Burgh. Arrived mid evening, to a beautifully lit, cedar style building. It was about 10°, and entering into a warm, open, great room was so inviting. Everything was beyond expectation. This lodge is gorgeous. The room was perfect, and the common kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need, just bring some groceries. There's even a game room. The lodge is located in a rural setting, but just minutes from downtown P'burgh. The Hosts were very friendly, and very accommodating. Could not use door pad lock to enter numbers for front door or bedroom. No staff is present at all, had to call for help to phone number on door. thin walls, dog barking after 10pm and awakened by barking dog. Bug infestation in corners of ceilings. No AC, could not open windows. patio door didn't lock and had hole in screen, so room was hot, making difficulty sleeping, no fan. Bed was not a king as we had reserved on phone, bed was soooooo soft,extreme sagging, do not think you will get any sleep there, it just is not possible. This room was not painted in about 40 years, ceiling has so many graying marks. very very disappointing, couldn't wait to leave. the place in desperate need of upkeep. read more

Perhaps the ownership has changed? We just didn't experience what the other reviewers seem to have. The building has beautiful "bones," with great potential. The state park right across the road is gorgeous. The room was clean. The brief encounter with the one staff member we met we pleasant. Disliked However, for the cost, a big disappointment. The bed was so uncomfortable. The sounds from the room above were amplified. There was hardly ever any staff around. With a king size bed, there is only one nightstand light. The lodge is in need of a facelift. It currently is decorated in a strange mix of southwestern adobe, buddhist yoga retreat, and Adirondack lodge (which is probably the look they should go for 100%, considering the location and architecture), all with a paint job and fixtures which seem to be out of the 80s. The gazebo, balcony, and windows are in need of some good cleaning. The gardens could be beautiful if they had been weeded, but are now overgrown. Though there is a kitchen and a dining room, breakfast is not available. It is quite a drive to get to the nearest eatery, so that's tough in the mornings. read more

The property is beautiful and very peaceful. We lost our mother and I have a fairly large family to try and accommodate. This place had plenty of room and also provided a peaceful setting for us to spend time together. The lodge was very clean and inviting. Yuri stayed in touch with me prior to our arrival and during our stay. The host Robert was wonderful and came by every day to see if we needed anything and to provide wood for the fireplace. A few miles outside of the city and across the road from one of the country's newest and pristine state parks. The rooms are spacious and cozy inside a modern log estate. Each with a large private bath, sitting area and balcony with chairs and table. Views out to the fields through meticulously maintained grounds add to the visual appeal. Breakfast was amazing, with fresh fruit, juices, and a choice of French toast or a leek, ham, cream cheese omelette. Fortunately the park, beach and walking trails are right across the road to help burn off breakfast! This is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast located about an hour south of Montreal - right across the street from Point Au Roche State park. The owners are delightful, friendly and fun. Breakfast is included and it's always delicious. The great room is immediately welcoming and the individual quarters are all lovely. Some have hot tubs and/or fireplaces, but if you're expecting to watch TV, you're out of luck. They do have wifi, so if you need to watch something, bring a device. If you're traveling for business, this is a wonderful alternative to the generally lousy local hotels in Plattsburgh. If you're looking for a great place to get away and relax, go to the Point Au Roche Lodge. You won't be disappointed. read more

I'm a frequent business traveller and usually stay at an Embassy Suites or Marriott. But this week while on travel in Plattsburgh NY we chose the Point Au Roche Lodge. I'm really impressed. It's about a twelve minute drive from downtown, and it's located in, or right next to a park (point au Roche). It's December, there's a wonderful warm huge sitting room with a fireplace, where we sat and talked for hours. There's beer and wine available. In the morning eat breakfast (citrus French toast) and pick up the binoculars for bird watching. Don't expect brand new fixtures. Expect a host who knows your name, a super clean and comfortable bedroom and bathroom, and nature. Point au Roche lodge is serene. It made our trip more of a vacation, and I want to come back here with my family. read more

We had the perfect vacation last week during our visit to Point Au Roche Lodge near Plattsburg NY. The lodge is in a beautiful location right across from Point Au Roche State Park. Our beautiful and quiet room had a balcony and private staircase to the outdoors. The entire lodge was sparkling clean and beautifully decorated. Karen and Creston were the perfect hosts. They served amazing breakfasts and could answer any questions or give suggestions regarding the area. We loved our COVID safe get-a-way with the most welcoming hosts, beautiful facility and great location, especially if you are a nature lover. We plan to go back in the fall. read more

It is always a pleasure to visit Karen and Creston at the lodge. My husband and I come here every few years as a little get away. The lodge is so welcoming and we love how peaceful the area is. Creston's breakfasts are amazing, this visit we had an asparagus, leek and bacon frittata, which was delicious. The rooms are beautifully decorated with their own themes. We tend to stay in the flower room, it has a fireplace and large jet tub, which your own private porch, but you can't go wrong with any of the rooms. They all have wonderful views and plenty of birds and wildlife to watch. They are also just across the road from many beautiful nature trails and Lake Champlain. Being a new 'yelper', I'm a little surprise that there isn't a review already so I will add my review from another site posted in January 2008. It's been 10 and 11 years since our first visits and 1 since our most recent, but not our last. On our second visit to the Lodge I proposed to my wife. Unfortunate circumstances brought us back to Plattsburgh last year, but staying at the Lodge was a foregone conclusion for us. I called to make the reservation for last year's trip and explained that we had been there before. The proprietor asked if I had a room preference based on our earlier trips and I was delighted to learn the very first room (our favorite) was available. In the time between our visits the ownership had changed hands. This change in ownership has had no negative consequences from our experience. In our conversation the new proprietors told me about trip advisor and I am only now making good on my promise to add my two cents. The new proprietors were delighted to hear about the events and memories of our first trips and gave us an update on the original owners - who complimented us with a bottle of Champaign upon learning we just got engaged upstairs. The Lodge has not changed since our very first visit. I will not try to provide a better description than previous reviewers as they have already done a far better job than I could. I can only echo their comments. The great room with fireplace is a serene place to 'get away'. There is also a photo album with contributions from previous visitors. I am only sorry I have no contribution to make. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful. Meeting others on their travels and sharing each other's stories makes the Bed and Breakfast experience truly special. Couple this with the special memories we have there is no other place for us when we visit the region. read more

We chose Point Au Roche Lodge as the central point for a family reunion/birthday party for the matriarch of a clan that grew up nearby but now stretches coast to coast. It was absolutely perfect - each of us had lovely rooms, and the big central lounge area was a great spot to gather between meals and activities. Karen and Creston keep the place immaculate, and the breakfasts were so good that we were wishing they had a dinner service. Even if we got dumped on with rain that made hiking and other outdoor activities unsavory, we still came away feeling relaxed and renewed. Me and my boyfriend choose Pointe Au Roche Lodge for a weekend getaway/birthday weekend. It was the most relaxing weekend We've ever had. The room was gorgeous and so were the views. Karen and creston do an amazing job especially with breakfast. And having the trails right across the street were amazing. It was so nice to just go for a walk on a trail to the point and see a gorgeous lake view and mountains 300 degrees around you. The bed and the sheets was amazingly soft and the hot tub was so nice. It was one amazing weekend and the lodge made it that much better. If you are looking for a place to stay, relax, and get an amazing breakfast you want to go here! read more

This review is for the 2 bedroom/2 bathroom rental house, that is owned/operated & maintained by the owners of Point Au Roche Lodge, about one mile up the road from the lodge. Spiders are everywhere. Yes, I really mean that. They are absolutely everywhere. There is even a mention about "spiders" in the instruction book that is in the house that goes something like "not wanting to disturb them because they eat the bugs". I have stayed in many homes throughout the USA, on lakes and in woods, and never had this many spiders. I took a towel off of the rack and a huge black one came down on me. Not any fun. Spiders settle in when they are not disturbed. Now, having said this about the spiders, the setting of this home was absolutely beautiful. It was clean in some areas, but filthy in others. This house definitely hadn't been touched in a while. There was dust on the baseboard heaters, cobwebs up on the ceiling (hence, spiders). The sheets were clean, the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was clean, until you got to the stove & oven. The oven is "SELF-CLEANING". All you had to do was push a button, and it boggles the mind why this was never done. The description of this house boasts new appliances - this stove/oven was certainly not new, by any stretch of the imagination. I had planned on making one family meal on Sunday night - - nix to that plan. The coffee maker was absolutely disgusting. Thank God I checked it before making our coffee. I should not have had to clean that, it should have been done. I can't even imagine how all of that muk got in it. It was caked with grinds. This was not from just a couple of pots of coffee...it was neglect. The screens on the windows in the bedrooms hadn't been touched/cleaned in a very long time. When I notified the owner of this, she did not offer to have someone come and clean, instead she said (and I quote) "If the kitchen is taking away from you guys enjoying the house then I certainly understand if you want to leave early." Where were we to go? It was graduation weekend and everything was booked solid - - trust me, I checked. As beautiful as the area is, I could never recommend this place to anyone. I am going to try to attach the pics I took - cause they do not lie. I gave this two stars because of the view/area/setting...because this house really only deserves one star. If it were clean, I would have given it 5 stars. read more
