Not terrible. But added to everything else, it makes sense that this hotel manager does not care.

Hello folks! Looking at the reviews here, it does not look like this hotel cares much. But here we go: When Shelby asks what you are in town for, be careful how you answer. After three straight days of driving 9 hours, and getting in late (almost 11 pm), I just wanted to get to my room. So my answer was "stuff." Well, here is the consequence. And remember two things: I am a Platinum, which means you have to stay at Marriott for the equivalent of over two years. And the hotel is very empty. I can pick my parking space. She puts me in Room 211. Check it out: across both the elevator and the ice machine. It smells like smoke or stale air. And the fridge is buzzing all the time. Oh yea, the view sucks. I should have slept outside with the homeless. Check out the view from my bed - no door (below). Shelby offered to move me. But Im exhausted, too tired to deal with a room change. So when Shelby asks why you are in town, answer anything but "stuff." PS - she forgot to offer me the platinum gift. Surprise!

I initially thought it was weird to not have a front desk but I didn't need it. With my personal code in hand, I walked up the steps, opened the exterior door, entered the vestibule, put in my code, and the door unlocked. The same code was my room key. Rather than walking the stately stairs to the second floor, I ascended to the second floor using the elevator. Very smooth ride. The Council Room was just WOW. Hardwood floors, 6 huge windows behind the bed, chandelier, barn door bureau, glass barn door shower, wall mounted tv, iron & full size ironing board, microwave, and coffee pot, As a light sleeper, when checking in, I heard the clock tower chime and saw the full length window blinds (not black out curtains). With the firm mattress and plethora of pillows, I died and woke up refreshed. Tons of food options in walking distance. Ample lot and street parking. Minor inconvenience: no nightstand with a plug access to charge my phone overnight. With a little Feng shui, I brought a side table closer to the bed and had a long cord. Problem solved. Speaking of problems, if you have any issues, the phone number for 24 hour help is posted in the vestibule and in the rooms. Looking forward to trying out other rooms on future visits.

Such a FUNKY hotel!…read more This was a lucky find. We prefer unique and interesting places to stay, and City Hall Grand did not disappoint. Highly recommended. It's a 100+ year old municipal building, obviously not intended for lodging, yet the owners made it work. It's a bit of a time capsule with updated decor and amenities. We walked around every floor, soaking up the architecture and millwork of a bygone era. The entire place felt clean and safe. We stayed in the Mail Room (I've been told you start there, and work your way up). As described, it's spacious and bright, with a huge bathroom. However, the sunset mentioned in the brochure was obscured by the building next door, because June. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable, the room was immaculate, the fridge and microwave were handy, the digital thermostat worked as expected. We didn't use the elevator, or try the restaurant. Wi-Fi was a little sketchy in the room, but stone/concrete walls make it challenging. We lounged on a sofa in one of the common areas to play Wordle in the morning. Yes, there is no front desk. That doesn't bother us, since we've stayed in many self-serve hotels. We never had to call anyone, but texts were promptly answered. Yes, some of the rooms don't have windows, and that detail is clearly spelled out in each room description. It takes a special kind of asshat to write a negative review on a place they've never even been to, or complain about the sun rising in the morning, or century old windows not being soundproof. Seasoned travelers bring earplugs and eye masks, just in case. The location is very convenient, within walking distance of almost everything, and quiet at night. Parking was plentiful and free. Life is short, don't waste it staying in generic little boxes.

We stayed here on a Sunday night in July, first stop on a weeklong road trip…read more This is a gem in Williamsport and if you're travelling on 80, worth the extra 15 - some - odd - minutes, from the highway. The Genetti was built in 1922 and has some of the idiosyncrasies you might expect from an older hotel, also the character and some of the cool decorative details. That said it still felt luxurious compared to the Quality Inn or similar right off a highway exit. Nice outdoor pool, a fairly extensive breakfast included with our stay. The concierge staff was gregarious, knowledgeable and professional. We got to stay on the 8th floor, which my cousin told me was haunted. No paranormal activity. Williamsport itself on a Monday morning seemed unusually quiet. Not a lot of vehicular traffic. Nonetheless, it has a rakish charm. When you stop make sure you take the short walk to see the murals and the "Grit" building. Maybe not the right hotel for a cranky prima donna but, if you are an adventurous traveler with an appreciation for going a bit off the beaten track, this is your place. Added bonus - Conveniently located to Clyde Peeling's Reptiland, as well as the Lewisburg Antique District.

Here's a suggestion: before spending millions, hire someone to run a vacuum through the building every day for a few months. Cleanliness would be a great place to start. If you're one of the investors behind this renovation, I'd encourage you to spend a night here as an anonymous paying guest before writing another check. You may decide the first investment should be in cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service. Our first impression was terrible. The hallway leading to reception looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in ages. Several employees walked right past us without so much as a "hello." One even scowled at us before later working the front desk that evening. Hospitality was clearly not part of the culture. Unfortunately, the lack of cleanliness continued throughout the hotel. Our room looked nothing like the online photos. It was old, worn, dirty, and in obvious need of repair. At that point, we weren't worried about luxuries like a working TV or refrigerator--we just wanted a toilet that looked like it had been cleaned sometime this month, lights that worked in the shower, and a hallway outside our door that didn't make us question whether we'd be safe walking through it at night. The bathroom summed up the experience perfectly. The shower pipe and showerhead had pulled away from the wall, the shower light didn't work, and the toilet flushed with all the force of a faint breeze. Nothing about the room suggested anyone had been paying attention to even the most basic maintenance. The atmosphere didn't feel like a historic hotel. It felt unsafe and poorly managed. Seeing sweepstakes machines with people slumped over them at 6:00 a.m. wasn't exactly the welcoming, historic experience the hotel advertises. This wasn't an inexpensive stay, which makes the experience even harder to understand. We decided to tough it out, get a few hours of sleep, and leave at first light. We felt completely misled by the online photos and descriptions. This wasn't a historic hotel--it was simply a neglected one. Never again at the Genetti. For the price we paid, this experience was completely unacceptable. Frankly, it has made me think twice before booking another Best Western.

A local resident outside of a business asked if we were looking for something. When we shared we were trying to find a place for dinner, he highly recommended the Old Corner Hotel and gave us walking directions. As we approached, we could hear laughter and multiple conversations. When we entered (directly into the bar section), there were people seated surrounding the bar and at a few tables. We asked to be seated in the dining room which was about 1/3 full. The lighting was nice, with some natural light coming in through the stained glass windows, as well as some dim lamps on each table. Our server, Tori, was helpful in sharing both the daily specials, as well as describing the drink menu. All servers were very attentive, with several check ins during the course of the evening. Prior to receiving our entrées, we were brought some warm bread and olive oil, which was delicious. Our entrées also arrived quickly and were very flavorful. I highly recommend this restaurant, if you are in the area!
