We came here for a day and absolutely loved it! Very very nice spa. (Not as great as the fountainbleau in Las Vegas but it's been here for years !) There's a relaxation room that no one ever goes in apparently because I could go take a nap in there, there's private pools for the spa and an indoor pool and outdoor pool three different hot tubs with different temperatures, coed living room with snacks and tea, overall good spa experience as well. We had the 45 minute massage and that was good enough for me. The view in the back is spectacular! One of the best views in Banff. Parking is easy they have a parking lot. Which the spa will validate. So then it's free. There's also some free parking along the street but if you're going to the spa, you might as well just park in the parking lot. We spent most of our time in the largest of the pools, which was the ideal temperature, full of minerals and covered with a lovely dome. Just wonderful. The change rooms are well stocked. The only opportunity would be to improve the dispensers in the showers that pumped out the teeniest amount of shampoo, etc. My daughter and I had facials. We were wrapped in duvet cocoons. Perhaps the most pampering facial that I have ever had. Skin was extra glowy of course. If I recall correctly, there is a 10% discount for hotel guests. It was calm and quiet. I patronized this spa on a near-weekly basis this summer, owing to a special community member deal, and cannot sing its praises enough. Every aspect, from the super thick robes to the mineral pools of varying temperatures, to the outdoor hot whirlpool that is surrounded by mountains, to the complimentary flavored waters and teas, along with fruit and cookies, made me feel as if I was momentarily living way above my pay grade. The pools are not large, but going on week nights after 7:00pm generally meant thinner crowds. The dressing area has everything that you could possibly need in terms of robe, towels, slippers, and toiletries (soaps, lotions, razors, q-tips--the gamut). The 3 smaller pools with the waterfalls have differing temperatures, and the larger center pool has a special slightly salty blend of minerals that will leave your skin looking radiant. If you're feeling overheated, there are bins with iced wash clothes, steeped in some sort of aromatherapy oil that smells fantastic when draped around your neck or over your eyes. Even if your budget doesn't allow for a stay at the Fairmont, a day at this spa will leave you feeling more than pampered. read more

My boyfriend and I came here after a spending a day venturing Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. We came on a Friday night and took advantage of their discounted rate of $49 CAD after 5PM. It was worth every penny. With the pools and lounges alone, we were extremely happy with our time here feeling relaxed and self-pampered with their robes and slippers they provide for you. I was a little worried about going out in 30 F degree weather in my bikni, but that outdoor jacuzzi is definitely more than warm enough. Sitting outside and staring at the gorgeous Fairmont and not having to worry about anything was probably one of the best parts. We booked a couples massage during our stay at Fairmont and we were very happy with the service. The staff was very friendly. When we got there, we were both greeted by the receptionist and then directed to the dressing rooms. Then we were directed to the waiting room, which was very nice! Our massage therapists greeted us in the waiting room and guided us to the room. They then allowed us to select the oil we would prefer. During the massage, they played relaxing music. They checked in with us to make sure the pressure was still good. After the massage, we were able to go in the spa pools (they are heated and cold). I would recommend you to book individual services OR any other day package instead." If I wanted a different package I would have tried to book a different package. I have visited this spa 2 times in the last year and had treatments both times. I thought the mani pedi was great and the staff was super friendly and attentive but what REALLY got me was a massage from Devin! I've been to spas at many Fairmont hotels but this massage was the best Ive ever had! My husband was also impressed and said the quality of his massage was on par with his experiences with Airrosti treatments. The only reason I knock off one star is because of the spa management itself. My husband and I thought the relaxing experience quickly diminished by the number of people they allow in. They allow access to the pools for a nominal fee so they often get loud, messy and crowded. As a result it's hard to keep up with cleaning up after that many people and the lounges are littered with wet robes, towels and drinks. The same applies in the showers. It seemed like they were a little behind on cleaning them. There also doesn't seem to be a spa etiquette enforced so people just do what they want. All and all I really do love this spa but think they could be the best with a few tweaks on how they operate. read more

The willow Stream spa is definite an ultra luxury experience that you can't get just anywhere. If you pay for just the regular entrance you have access to the pools and steam rooms available at the spa and hotel. The spa pools consist of a large pool of rejuvenating mineral water that is flown in from South Africa. There are also three small pools with waterfalls at varying temperatures ranging from cool to hot. The warm pool waterfall is intense enough that if you stand under it you can get an awesome massage in the process. Out doors there is a smaller hot tub that you can relax in while enjoying the mountain vista that surrounds you. On top of these pools you also gain entrance to the hotels main pools which has a massive Olympic sized lap pool and smaller temped outdoor pool that again allows you to enjoy the amazing mountain views all year round. Back inside the spa there is separate men's and women's jacuzzi tubs with eucalyptus infused water. There is also both a sauna and a steam rooms as-well as private showers. The ladies change room is fully equipped with all your needs including towels, thick bath robes and all the other amenities you may need after soaking in the various pools such as shampoo, body wash, razors, hair dryers and straighteners and almost any thing else you may require. If you come later in the evening the spa offers access to the pools at a reduced price but to take full advantage of this place it would definitely not be difficult to spend the entire day here. Highly recommend the "twilight hour" spa access between 4pm and 7pm. It's only $30pp to access all of their facilities, which include the 4 mineral pools, sauna, steam room, and inhalation room, as well as relaxation areas with refreshments and snacks. Change rooms are very high-end with all male grooming products. Sandals and robes are standard. If you're ok zoning out by yourself, this is a great time and place to do it. I recently returned to the Willow Stream spa in May with my sister in law for a spa day. To my amazement, nothing within the spa had been updated since I last visited many years ago. Needless to say- This spa is in need of some major updating and with the prices they charge, this should be a given. It's very outdated all the way from the locker rooms to the mineral pool. It's also very hard to navigate the mineral pool with all of the chairs around the pool, it's a tight squeeze past the large pillars to get back to your seat. And this can be a bit awkward when most of the chairs are taken. Our treatments themselves were good, as the staff is always attentive and well trained. The spa itself is a bit of a maze and could use some better signage to point you in the right direction if you want to pop upstairs to order a bottle of wine. I think there is an opportunity to improve the ordering experience by not limiting it to the upstairs room, and allowing you to enjoy your lunch or bottle of wine by the pool outside, etc. I've have experienced this service in many other spas and appreciate it much more (as well as end up spending more $$ which is good for the hotel). So I found this to be an oversight for a world class spa. All in all, Don't let the online photos fool you. If you are looking to make a day out of it and relax by the mineral pool or outdoor pool, be prepared for it to be a bit cramped and to be forced into giving up your spot if you want to order lunch or wine into the spa as you will be limited to one upstairs lobby to wait and eat/drink. read more

As an ultimate treat on our recent weekend Banff getaway, I spent several hours at this spa having two treatments (Alpine Aromatherapy Massage and a Deep Cleansing Facial). I didn't really enjoy the front-of-house part of the spa initially; the women at the counter acted like it was a bit of a chore to take my information and check me in. The woman showing me to the change rooms paused at the window to show me the pool and added, "But I guess you don't have time for that now," (brunch ran a bit late so I was a bit less than the requested 30 mins early for my appointment). Overall, the spa seemed plagued by a certain amount of disorganization. It wasn't clearly indicated what I should do with my robe and slippers (I later saw there was a slipper drop but I hadn't been told and there were no signs or other indications). The spa has multiple coded doors, a co-ed resting area and two separate men and ladies areas. The overall effect is a bit cramped and in fact there was hardly anywhere to sit in the waiting area where people were to be picked up. They had some citrus water and bowls of fruit sitting around but they could stand to get a bit fancier with the refreshments - I've paid half the price in other spas that had home made cookies, etc. I also found that getting up to repeatedly refill the tiny plastic glasses they give you for water was annoying, the end result being at the end of my treatments I was dehydrated and dizzy (the woman doing my facial forgot to bring me water as she'd offered to do). The massage therapist who did my massage was great. She chatted with me as much as I wanted to chat, and kept the pressure reasonably light at my request. I enjoyed the massage thoroughly. The facial was honestly only okay. I had a laugh at the exuberant lady giving it, but it wasn't what I would've called relaxing. She couldn't get the music in her room working, she talked a mile a minute the entire time and practically smothered me doing extractions. The end result of the facial was good, but the experience was something of a whirlwind. Ultimately, I wish I'd had more time to spend at the spa itself - a nice soak in their pool beforehand might've been a great added value, and not having enough time to do so was my own fault! I had to leave after because we had dinner reservations as well. I'd recommend that if you are going to go here, keep a few things in mind: 1) Plan to spend the day; don't book anything else so that you can lounge around in the pool. I think it'd be even more fun with a friend or relative. 2) Be aware that you're really paying for the rarefied atmosphere, the Banff Springs is pretty pretentious and that's reflected in the price. You could probably have an entire day of spa treatments at most spas in Calgary for the same price, but you won't have the mountains right there or access to mineral pools or the other facilities. I'm not kidding about the price. It was $444 for my two services (also to note, they tack on an automatic 15% gratuity included in the price reflected above). I might go back but I'd only book a single service (probably a massage) and use the access to the spa to lounge around drinking citrus water by the pool instead! read more

Parking is free if you are checking into the spa so don't buy a ticket! The service staff here are always friendly and soft spoken, greet you upon entry and exit. In the service areas they are more like ninjas, towels are restocked and wet spots are wiped up without notice. The spa, like the hotel is a bit dated, the pool area definitely shows signs of aging but where else can you get 3 different temperature mineral waterfalls? Soaking in spring mineral water really is something else. The dry sauna and eucalyptus room are one within another so it's never cold. The best feature of this spa is the balcony hot springs tub. If you get a chance to go outside to the balcony hottub, do so, it has a view of the Rockies and it's not gross like the public one. I've gotten the facial (meh) and a few massages here. I love love the ginger flower massage oil they use, because it also really good for your skin. I always feel really good after a service here. The co-lounge upstairs has a full menu, so you can dine if you are hungry and don't want to leave the spa. The change and vanity area (most important for me) is fully stocked, with the expected number of things like razors, blow dryers etc. Nothing too special but you won't be regretting not bringing something. I wish the spa prices would reflect the age of the spa since it's super pricey for the condition of the amenities. Would visit again, since there really aren't any other choices at this caliber. read more

We went to the spa during Xmas for a couples massage. We spent about 2.5 hours at the spa. 1 hour massage was fantastic. One of the best ever and put me to sleep (which is a very good thing!). The other hour we spent enjoying the outdoor hot tub and mineral pools. Mineral pools were definitely a novelty. Different temperatures for different pools and all of them set in a luxurious setting. We also enjoyed the hot steam room after our massages. A lovely ending to a restful afternoon. If not for the price tag of ~$220 per person, I could certainly get used to this. What a treat. I was treated like a queen for a day! I booked a few spa treatments for my mom and myself and let me tell you this was truly the entire package. From start to finish, This spa is the total package. I read that some people misunderstood the parking situation and at first it seemed confusing to me too but the bell boys at the front desk directed me where to go to get free parking and then showed me and mom to the spa. They were amazingly friendly and helpful! Upon arriving to the spa we were greeted by the super friendly desk staff who took all our information and showed us around the spa and answered any questions that we had. You literally only need to bring yourself and a swimsuit and they have the rest covered for you. I warn people now though, this spa is EXPENSIVE but you gain access to all of their spa facilities (mineral pools, sauna, steam room, indoor/outdoor jacuzzi) and have access to it for the entire day. The treatments we received were done by friendly professionals and were compensatory to what we paid to get them done. There was a 15% gratuity already paid to the providers that is charged to your bill so be prepared for that but they also tell you that when you book. This spa is over the top amazing and should be experienced at least once in a lifetime. I look at it this way, if you are going to pay $165 any where else in Banff for an hour long massage you might as well drop the $195 and gain access to all of the spa facilities not to mention they treat you like royalty. read more

We came to the Willow Day Spa for a whole family spa day. It was recommended by our hotel for the size. We enjoyed multiple hot and cold pools, steam rooms, saunas and inhalation rooms. Three people in our group got deep tissue massages and enjoyed them. My husband and I got the detox treatment complete with a dry brush, wrap, and 50 minute massage. All fantastic! Yep, I still love it here. Before the spa itself, the miracle-working massage therapist, Pamela! If you are getting a massage, any massage, ask for Pamela. The petite blond with the magic hands. I couple years ago, I slipped in the river and half-dislocated (yes, that's a thing) my shoulder. Meaning it came half-way out of the socket just enough to stretch the tendons, but not enough to tear them. Awesome. Ever since (even though it's all healed now) I have been subconsciously protecting it by rolling my shoulder forward a bit. This has caused a mega knot under my shoulder blade, essentially freezing my shoulder in place. Awesome. Pamela found this knot, like all therapists do, but instead of moving away after a minute asked me if it was okay that she skipped my feet and proceeded to dislodge two years of tension. Ta Da! New shoulder! I am forever grateful to you Pam, thank you. Not only was Pam excellent, but the rest of the staff were also wonderful. They charmed my reluctant husband with a free entry so he could to join me in the pool. Normally, this would have costs $79. I always enjoy coming to this spa. There's a little part of me that feels transported to a fairy tale land when I am in the pools here - maybe it's the mountains, the snow, the 100 year-old limestone pillars or the minerals in the water - but whatever it is, I tend to spend a minimum of 4 hours in this spa going from the mineral pool to the hot & cold baths to the outdoor hot tubs to the steam room to the eucalyptus saunas to the indoor hot tub and back again... and leave feeling and looking refreshed and relaxed. My boyfriend and I got the rocky healing couples retreat and don't regret it one bit. The couples suite is beautifully set up and romantic. The Fairmont Banff Springs is known as the Scottish "Castle in the Rockies." While we didn't stay at the hotel, we did choose to spend a cold and rainy afternoon in the Willow Stream Spa. In addition to the standard spa facilities (Men's- / Ladies'-only locker areas, showers, lounges, whirlpools, steam rooms, and saunas), there were three indoor waterfall baths of varying water temperature plus a therapeutic mineral pool in the center. Outdoors on the spa terraces, you could sit in the jacuzzi, but not many people wanted to venture out in the cold weather. Use of the fitness center and the heated outdoor pool was also available. Hubby had a 45-minute back-neck-and-shoulders massage, while I relaxed under an hour-long sports massage. Both of our therapists were excellent. I described some of my past and current injuries, and the therapist hit all the right spots and found other areas that were tight due to compensation for those injuries. While the facilities were nice, I felt I was in an average to above-average location (Vegas must be spoiling me), especially for the price. I was expecting more based on the fact that this was located in the Fairmont. I have to give our therapists and the incredible views -- and being in the Canadian Rockies an extra star, though. Highly recommended as a way to unwind (or to pass some time when you have to be indoors anyway). read more

This place is NOT cheap- and unfortunately, I've had better massages back here in Chicago for $60. Compare that to my $200 massage I had here. I was in Banff for a weekend getaway with my girlfriends and we decided to treat ourselves to a spa day! This spa has so many great amenities. Their steam room, inhalation room, dry sauna, multiple therapeutic pools and out door hot tub will easily keep you there for many hours! The treatment and change rooms are quite nice as well. They provide shampoo, conditioner, razors, hair dryers, straighteners, curling irons, body lotion and spray deodorant. The robes are cozy and their slippers are great for walking around the pool. There's lounge chairs by the pools if you want to just hang out and read a book in between indulging in their amenities. My friends and I hung out there for about 4 hours, if we didn't get hungry, we easily could have stayed for much longer. The treatments are expensive, but if you're treating yourself, then get the most out of your money by spending as much time there as possible using all they have to offer. Its well worth the relaxation you get out of it. Note there is an automatic 15% gratuity charge to your bill. You pay when you first check in so its all out of the way, but don't forget to ask for your receipt on the way out in case you need to claim it towards your benefits. read more

This is hands-down my favourite spa. I have never received poor service here and I would say that the staff go above-and-beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. You can tell right away that hygiene and cleanliness is important here - for example they do not re-use nail files from manicures and pedicures. Since I live fairly close to Banff I often just come to the spa without staying at the hotel. A lot of the spa services grant you complimentary access to the sauna and pool areas. I enjoyed my hot stone massage by a registered massage therapist and my pedicure was amazing. I also got free parking which was a nice bonus. It's also nice to relax and read a book in their lounge that has light refreshements to enjoy. The price of services here is not cheap but totally worth it as I do belive you get what you pay for. read more

I love this spa. I have been several times. Everything from booking to being able to spend as much time as you like in the mineral pools and hot tubs, is easy and pleasant. Recommend going early in the morning and experiencing the water before it gets more crowded. The outdoor hot tub has an amazing view. Some of the rooms allow you to see the mountains. The change rooms are well stocked with anything you might need. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The one drawback is the small size of the waiting area. The last time I was there it was dominated by 3 individuals loudly discussing their stressful work environment! The rest of the experience was outstanding. read more
