RE: Service for 2014 Subaru on 11/05/21 I travel a great deal (by car), and when my car had trouble while working in Santa Barbara, I had difficulty finding a recommendation for a good repair shop from my friends and co-workers. There is a shop I used to use all the time for the twenty years I lived here, but they were booked and apparently years of being a customer didn't count for anything. Finally someone recommended this Chevron, saying they were competent and honest. I called and spoke to Brian who made an appointment for me to come in; I explained the problem and I noticed he had my hood up and was evaluating my issue before my ride picked me up to go to work (within 10 minutes). Two hours later, Brian called and had fixed the problem. I have a few miles on all of my cars and if I ever have trouble again while In Santa Barbara, this Chevron on Fairview will be my "go-to" stop. Quickest and most simple smog EVER! We made an appointment for noon today (Friday) for a smog. When I arrived, Brian was ready for us. He told me it would be ready in 30 minutes. I totally didn't believe him, but sure enough he called within 30 minutes and said it was ready for pickup. Will definitely be back for all our future smogging needs. read more

Seems like 8am is more of a guide line for when the mechanics show up. Helper shows up at 8:05 and does nothing to address the two customers lined up outside the half open bay door as if we were waiting for bread in Venezuela. Around 8:15 the boss guy saunters in, gets the door open then tells us he's booked all day for smog tests. Seems like that's something the gas station attendant should be made aware of in order to pass on to Customers who show up at 8 for a smog check and are instead asked to wait for mechanic. Awesome waste of my time. I pray for a recession to bring back customer service and a work ethic. read more

Replacing the old Exxon, the Union 76 in Old Town Goleta looks more like a fresh coat of paint than a management/ownership change. The price here is usually a few cents more than other, area gas stations. It's convenient at the light to skip across Hollister but I get the feeling they're skimping on the core. One example is paper towels for the windshield squeegee. I walked to all 4 trash cans with integrated buckets, all filled with soapy water, but none stocked with towels. That's cheap in my book. I came in for a smog check, which I recently failed at another smog shop, (Shell on Fairview) that was trying to rip me off, and Jerry at Chevron fixed everything!!! My auto repair costs were extremely fair, way less then the other place, and I passed smog! I feel like he cares about my car and wants to help & is on my side. Incredibly honest and ethical! Brian and Jerry helped me w my 2016, Chevy Silverado when the AC went out. Instead of charging me for the AC special, Jerry diagnosed the problem and alerted me to the fact this truck is known for this issue and recommended I go to a dealership instead, due to a potential recall. Although Chevrons are my favorite stations, i do not like this one. For starters, the entrance and exits are dangerous. In particular, the exit does not provide either a safe entrance nor exit due to its extremely close proximity to the on/off ramp of 101 - and the usual 3-4 lanes of rapid traffic. Too much speed, too little distance to navigate with even a moderate level of safety. Moreover, there always seems to be "problems" with their credit card machines such that one's credit card must be given to the attendant. Any fool knows that identity theft is much more likely when one is not in possession of their credit card - for whatever reason. I'm not saying that this happens - only that they seem to always have "problems". Nice to have other options. read more

I took my car here thinking they do hand wash. I asked the guy if they wash by hand and he said "yes, we do". And then he took my money put it in the machine and made me go through and there was no way to go back. He straight up lied to me and then laughed about it with the rest of the people working there. I will never go here again. They're very unethical and think they're being slick. read more

I first came into this place when my air conditioning was getting pretty bad. I saw a sign for an air conditioning treatment as I was driving by and decided to give it a try. Brian the mechanic took a look at my system and informed me that my problem wasn't that simple. The condenser was broken and it would need to be replaced. It was going to cost more than I expected at that time . My truck was only worth $2,500 with 175,000 miles and I wasn't sure how long it was going to last so I told him that I would wait. No pressure to do the replacement. No hard sales tactics, etc . He seemed like an honest guy. A few years later I finally got around to having the service and everything is still running well. I now have 210,000 miles and am shooting for 300,000. Whenever I need to have anything checked out I am always able to get in and have it looked at right away. That way I catch problems when they are small and easy to repair. If you have any problems with your car or truck I would highly recommend them. They also do a lot of air conditioning services. read more

I saw the sign outside for an Air Conditioning Special $149.99. I asked inside about it and the friendly cashier Luis told me to speak to the mechanics in the bay. I met Brian who answered my questions and got my van right away and set me up immediately, very professional and kind. As I waited I skated around and came back to see how things were going. That's when I met Jerry, who let me know I had a part that would need replacing and that he would beed to start the process again. I expect I would need to pay for the part but he included it with the service, such a generous and genuinely altruistic gentleman. The had my van in and out in under the estimated 45 minute wait time. I paid $148 and change, which is under the estimated 149.99, I though there'd be some hidden something at the end. What I found out was they are a hidden gem, and they are the Air Conditioning Special, not the service as much as the people that made it so. Chevron attendant so nice & helpful Tuesday afternoon February 24. My 1991 Explorer gassed up & gleaming, They made me feel like a wealthy suburban housewife. Car so dirty with Labrador hair & nose prints all over the windows so I anticipated a lousy job, that they'd assume I don't care about my car. Chevron & car wash personnel all friendly & helpful. I was groggy after work & long drive to Goleta, so really appreciated this. Chevron attendant came to my car to assist me, having noticed me waiting at pump due to delay getting Von's discount. Been using this station for a little while as it is consistently one of the lowest priced 76 stations in the SB/Goleta area. It can be as much as 90 cents cheaper than other stations located around town (when compared to Mobile, Chevron, Shell, etc.). The attendant there (at least on my last visit) was less than enthusiastic about taking my money, but that can happen anywhere. I have a sports car and like 76 gas as the quality and consistency of the gas there is very good (the only better gas I've found for pure power, engine cleaning, performance is Chevron, but they're always a lot higher in price). This place is usually very clean, but small, and can sometimes be a bit tricky to get in and out. If you want a high quality gas with consistently lower prices than other 76 stations and competitors, I recommend giving this station a try. read more

Been using this station for service for about 15 years now. Brian & Jerry are always straight forward about if service is necessary or not and low pressure about getting the service done. If I had a new car and it was warranty I would use the dealer if it were covered, but for my cars (older than 6 years) they are way better on price and service. read more

Terrible and inconvenient service. I went in to get an oil change and a trip check before I drove my car cross country. The mechanic called to tell me my car was ready and I asked him if he had completed a tire rotation as well, as that is the standard with oil changes. He told me he did not because he didn't think the car needed it. Knowing I would be driving my car a great distance, I told him I would be more comfortable with a tire change. I was told I had to wait another hour for them to complete it. I finally went in to pick up my car and was upset to find that my car needed more attention and they didn't do any additional work on it nor ask me if they could. The mechanic told me my car needed coolant and, as I was driving across country, I asked him to replace it. He said I would have to bring my car in the next day which was not ideal but I had no other choice. I brought the car in the next morning at 8 am and was told that it would be ready probably by 10, but no later than 12. At 1:50 I finally received a call that my car was ready. A real lack of common sense and quality service for sure. I would expect mechanics to have more competency than what I experienced. I shouldn't have had to babysit and walk this mechanics hand through every process. "An oil change and a trip check" shouldn't collectively take ten hours and several reminders of what I want done. Took my 2004 Suburban in to get it smogged here and it failed on a couple items that were both bogus. Michael checked my alerts on several different days as we worked on getting them to go away and his suggestions worked. He only charged me for the original test and half price for a re-test although he wound up touching the car about five times. Great service, and they easily could have found ways to charge me more but didn't. I have had a similar experience there before too. read more

The team here is great. They are hard working, considerate, and fair. They took the time to look at my car on a very busy day, refused to charge me when they knew it was a problem they couldn't fix, and even took the time to listen and reassure me when giving me the news that I had some pretty expensive repairs ahead. I am making them cookies to thank them for everything they've done but I know in this day and age a Yelp review means a lot. These are honest and ethical guys who will not take advantage of you.
