It was the perfect day for ice cream, so my girls and I stopped in for an after school treat! I didn't expect them to also have coffee & donuts. Definitely an interesting combo, but I'm here for it! We just stuck with the ice cream on this visit though. I liked that there was a good mix of fun ice cream flavors (think lavender honey, strawberry matcha, etc) and the classics (strawberry, vanilla, cookies & cream, etc)! And there were a variety of different cone options and toppings! It was also fun to see soft serve on the menu- I was super intrigued by the raspberry soft serve! I got the strawberry matcha- it was a lot more strawberry than matcha, but I still enjoyed it! I wish I'd known when I went in the front door that the ice cream shop was in the other half of the building, as I stood around for a while hoping to see an employee. I finally ventured further into the building, to where a wide variety of interesting flavors of rich, tasty, genuine ice cream, and all the employees were. We were in the area at a nearby park and decided to stop by and try the ice cream out. The store itself is unique and vibrant with the rollaway doors, bright colors and plants. My husband tried out a Bavarian cream donut instead of ice-cream and our grandson had soft serve vanilla and I had one scoop of salted caramel and one of vanilla with peanut butter. My husband said the donut was good. I tried my grandson's ice cream because he wasn't really wanting it and wanted mine. His was not very flavorful at all. My ice cream didn't have distinct flavors to be able to say what it was. The peanut butter one was the better of the two. I was able to stop in for breakfast. Grabbed a coffee and a doughnut. I asked staff what breakfast food they suggested and ended up going with the Sausage Breakfast sandwich. The doughnut was a good size and was nice and fluffy. The sandwich did take a little bit of time, however you could tell they cooked the eggs fresh and I am not sure but the sausage patty tasted like they were also made in house. The vibe of Fairway Creamery is great, especially for families! We saw several on our visit. Our cones were served up so quickly that I couldn't even pay before they were in our hands and I used my phone to check out! The ice cream was just average. It was good but if I'm going out of my way, I expect spectacular. Luckily, I was in the area and they definitely scratched the ice cream itch. I will say, I'd never had a chocolate waffle cone before...it was great, tasted very brownie like! If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a try but if you're wanting a unique experience, this might not be the place. I used to love this place. But every time I go back it gets worse. The ice cream flavors have been underwhelming. The hard pack ice cream is cold and relatively creamy, but bland as can be. And this last time 2 of my girls ordered soft serve and they received sad, squat ice cream cones. It's possible the young person behind the counter was not trained correctly but soft serve should be tall swirls and not at all reminiscent of the poo emoji. Sadly, this one missed the mark for me. First off, I love that this place is built into the neighborhoods, and any city councils that come across this: more of this needs to be allowed, please! That said, the soft serve was just not very good. Years back, I tried one here that I enjoyed so much I still remember it, but the vanilla/blueberry twist had almost no flavor at all. The texture was icy and not creamy. The best way I can describe it is like a diet, dairy-free ice cream. Not my thing, and I'd steer clear down the road. My wife got their traditional ice cream and it was good, so I see the potential here. This place is the bomb dot COM! I just moved nearby recently and took an evening walk to the creamery. We walked in and immediately grabbed two pints because I just had a good feeling! AND I WAS RIGHT! There were so many incredible flavors to choose from. They have a soft serve that is changed every month? I believe (maybe week). My boyfriend got the cookies and cream which was delicious with soft cookies. I got a goat cheese and beet (yes) milkshake! It was so yummy. You have to check out their new taiyaki cones! They are SO good. I love coming to Fairway Creamery for their unique flavors of coffee and donuts. I also tried their special over the weekend. The collabed up with Mr Ds donuts. They added poki sticks and donuts to top the cone. I also got the sprinkle cone which was amazing! When arriving, parking is super easy and the entrance is easy to find. There is plenty of seating inside and on the outdoor patio. The patio is very dog friendly. For my first time here, I got a little bit of everything: a pistachio donut, a pint of pistachio ice cream, and the special dipped cone. I'm not a fan of cake donuts. But I was a fan of this one. Moist, soft, subtle flavors of pistachio. Loved their pistachio ice cream as well. No chunks of nuts, just flavored well. Raise your hand if you love sweets (*everyone's hand should be raised) The first time I tried fairway creamery was at an event I was at (they had their food truck there). I love local sweet/coffee shops and love it even more when they incorporate fun seasonal flavors. I got pumpkin ice cream from the food truck and it literally tasted like I was eating pumpkin pie (YUM). I also went into the storefront on Mission pkwy. Very, very cute space. Unfortunately was too late to try the coffee & donut shop side, but I did get some soft serve ice cream (chocolate mint swirl to be exact). I will just say the messenger coffee ice cream is my favorite! It is packed with the same coffee flavor you expect for the messenger coffees in KC. Donuts are awesome as well! Came here on a Saturday night around 7pm. Doughnuts: They were sold out of every single doughnut so didn't get to try those. This seems to be a common occurrence based on what others have said - they are out of doughnuts a lot. Ice Cream: had about 12 different flavors to choose from, a couple sorbet options & soft serve. I got 1 scoop split between dark chocolate & the raspberry swirl with chocolate & sprinkles on top. The serving was okay in size but it was like $5-$6 so it's a little pricey. The dark chocolate ice cream was good but the raspberry just tasted like vanilla with artificial raspberry flavor. My friend got the espresso brownie sundae. There was so much espresso that the scoop of ice cream was swimming. Instead of a brownie there was like 3 small pieces of brownie. It also came in a tall cup and not a bowl so it was very hard to scoop and eat. *We tried one more time to go and get doughnuts there - I called before hand this time and earlier in the day, they were still out of everything except 2 pistachio doughnuts and 2 cinnamon. Went in this morning for coffee and breakfast burritos. They gave us the wrong food items. We went back in and asked for the correct item (bacon and egg burrito). They gave us a burrito, but when we got home we realized it was a veggie burrito. I called and asked for a refund after not getting our item twice --the owner answered the call and said "well did you get food?" I explained that while I got food, my partner was not going to eat a corn and carrot burrito when he paid for one he with items he actually likes. He again said "so you did get food though." I again explained that I did not get the food I paid for and should therefore get a refund. He hung up the phone on me. When I called back, I talked to one of the workers who was very nice and offered a refund. However, I won't be giving any more money to an establishment where the owner hangs up on their customers and doesn't care if they get the food they pay for or not. I was just in there 3 days ago and paid $40 for ice cream. I come in frequently and spend plenty of money here, but I now know they don't deserve a dime. read more

Low and behold we came over the hill and here it was. One of the coolest little places tucked into this residential area. Coffee, donuts and ice cream!!!!
