The lobby had a welcoming feel, the indoor pool area was bright and inviting, and the breakfast area was organized and easy to use. Breakfast was decent, and I was pleasantly surprised to see they offered a turkey sausage patty in addition to the regular breakfast items. One thing worth noting is that they no longer keep coffee makers in every room as part of their sustainability policy. Instead, they offer fresh coffee in the lobby 24 hours a day. It means a little extra walking, but the sign explained that it is part of their effort to reduce single-use waste, which I can appreciate. Also, the front desk can provide a coffee maker if requested. The only minor issue was that the downstairs beverage machine did not have a water option because that feature was broken during our stay. I get that, but an immediate phone call back would have been appreciated.

The week we stayed was very rainy so we didn't spend too much time on the porch but honestly everything was so cozy inside with huge views so we felt like it was perfect anyway. But my kiddos were bummed it was closed "due to something in the water." A crew was cleaning it while we were there. It never was finished before we left. I tried to stay a second night, to which two different representatives told me our room was booked and nothing else was available. Our room was fairly updated, contrary to recent reviews. Our queen suite was $217.27. The pet fee was $20. For a 3-star hotel, this place was great. I'll request room 344 especially if we have our dog traveling with us again.

The refrigerator was stocked with beverages and bottled water, and they replenished it daily, which was such a nice touch. Added to that was wine glasses, a fireplace and candles. Each room had its own smart TV. There were also plenty of towels and shower amenities, and the huge double shower was especially nice! The bed was very comfortable, and we were extremely grateful for the awesome air conditioning, especially with how hot it was outside. One of our favorite features was the beautiful wraparound porch -- such a nice place to sit and relax in the morning and evening. I got the works; the steam cabinet, a mineral bath, and a massage. I was so relaxed by the end of it I could barely walk or think straight. I even fell asleep during the massage! Only downside for a more modern customer is that the spa layout is completely original. There are no sound barrier walls or anything. The walls and doors aren't floor to ceiling, so one can hear toilets flushing, tubs draining, etc. But it's great for feeling transported back to the old holistic, homeopathic ways.

There's food and pop in the fridge for no extra charge. We had a fuse blow out as can happen in an older house and they were here in 10 min and fixed it. The house was built in 1888 and oozed old-world charm. Antique furniture everywhere. They have DVDs and VHS tapes of all genres downstairs. We played several in the room. My 17-year-old son loved it too!
