Last night, there was a party with a live band (particularly terrible drummer BTW) right under our room until after midnight. It was so loud in our room that we couldn't watch a movie, talk to each other, or sleep. We could only put in earplugs and wait for it to be over. I could still hear all the lyrics through the earplugs, that's how loud it was. We are leaving a day early, even though we have already paid for tonight's room, because last night was so miserable. The hotel has effectively made this first floor room unusable on nights when the club right under it is open (W-Sa), and we were certainly not informed when we booked at their full price rate that this VERY LOUD party would be happening basically IN OUR ROOM UNTIL AFTER MIDNIGHT. Just ridiculous. I would not book the New Orleans Hotel first-floor suite again and would not recommend it to anyone else. As far as what the hotel should do to improve this problem: do not rent this suite out on nights when you are having loud parties right under it, and refund my money for this unusable hotel room.

I got the works; the steam cabinet, a mineral bath, and a massage. I was so relaxed by the end of it I could barely walk or think straight. I even fell asleep during the massage! Only downside for a more modern customer is that the spa layout is completely original. There are no sound barrier walls or anything. The walls and doors aren't floor to ceiling, so one can hear toilets flushing, tubs draining, etc. But it's great for feeling transported back to the old holistic, homeopathic ways.

My towel was dirty. I then decided to not do it and did the bath but it was dirty. I told Ariel all this and nothing was offered. Ariel argued the baths are always clean and dismissed me said it was probably the salt in the bath. There was nothing in my bath at all. On top of that when we tried to find parking and it took us over thirty minutes when I told Ariel how awful it was and where I parked because I didn't want to get towed, she just said "ya it's a small town." I grew up in a small town this isn't small. Just completely rude. Very disappointed.

One front desk hostess was exceptionally nice. The other - meh. She was a bit dismissive of others' complaints about the swimming pool being closed. That was a big strike from me, to be honest, because it was a part of their advertising. I realize stuff happens. I'm the queen of adaptability. But my kiddos were bummed it was closed "due to something in the water." A crew was cleaning it while we were there. It never was finished before we left. I tried to stay a second night, to which two different representatives told me our room was booked and nothing else was available. Our room was fairly updated, contrary to recent reviews. Our queen suite was $217.27. The pet fee was $20. For a 3-star hotel, this place was great. I'll request room 344 especially if we have our dog traveling with us again.

The bar staff stood there talking for nearly 3 1/2 minutes right in front of me before acknowledging my presence. This was at 2pm and they weren't busy. They were actually having a conversation about their recent break and their plans for after work. As far as the room, it's old and things creak - which is likely part of its charm. But the beds suck and this is not part of the charm. The balcony door doesn't close correctly so it's hot as hell inside when it's hot outside. This is also because the AC unit can't keep up. But at least the plumbing doesn't work. First thing I did was blow my nose and threw a small bit of folded toilet paper in the toilet and flushed it. It didn't flush. Spoke with the hotel and they said it would be fixed. When we returned the toilet was still not working properly. Amazingly, these issues weren't even close to the worst part. The restaurant staff were absolute trash. I wish I remembered the barista's name from the coffee bar in the hotel's main dining room. I went down to get my wife and I a coffee as we were checking out. She barely acknowledges me. When she finally does she rudely tells me that she has to take care of the dining room guests first and that I must wait. Given my experience with other staff, I just told her not to worry and started to walk off. She called me back and said she could get to me after the order she was currently finishing. I'm guessing she thought I was headed to complain by the immediate change in her attitude. It then took her over 13 min to make two lattes. I came back to pay and she rudely instructed me to go to the front desk to break my $100 bill to pay. I came back to pay, and 2 10oz (approximate) coffees were almost $19. This hotel sucks, it's not haunted except by shitty service. And it is so overpriced. One balcony room was $335 + $35 for early check-in - shitty service included.

We stayed at the historic Basin Park Hotel and loved the experience. Check-in was easy, parking is free, and it's a short walk from the lot (or you can call the shuttle). The hotel is full of charm and history--we especially enjoyed the quaint vintage elevator, though the stairs were fine too. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the shuttle even took us to the restaurant where we had dinner. The best part of staying here is the location--you can walk right out the door for morning coffee, spend the day shopping and exploring the streets and paths, and enjoy music at nearby restaurants in the evening. There's food and pop in the fridge for no extra charge. We had a fuse blow out as can happen in an older house and they were here in 10 min and fixed it. The house was built in 1888 and oozed old-world charm. Antique furniture everywhere. They have DVDs and VHS tapes of all genres downstairs. We played several in the room. My 17-year-old son loved it too!
