    Cocunut, curry & ginger soup

If you want a fresh and healthy lunch and cupcakes, Fairy Cakes is the place to go. They serve a great variety of organic, vegan and gluten free cupcakes. They also serve very flavorful and freshly made dishes for lunch. I recommend the chicken sandwich and the coconut, curry and ginger soup.

Place wasn't even open despite their hours on google, phones were disconnected. Pretty sure they are out of business.

Great desserts, but the meals are amazing too. Limited menu, but great options even for vegetarians.

Review #1,046 Posted on 4.26.26…read more We came here on Thursday the 23rd while in San Juan area for my buddies 50th birthday. This spot we had seen on social media a ton for being famous for their Mallorca sandwich, a special type bread, we got the one with bacon & American cheese. Man, I made the mistake of doing the bacon instead of ham, overthought that deal. I tried my buddies with ham n cheese and I think that was way to go. I loved how this spot had that super old school feel of like a diner. You can sit at one of the table tops, or you can do the countertop too, which has tons of seats, we all were able to sit there. I'd 100% recommend this spot, but get the ham n cheese mallorca sandwich, don't overthink it.

After a few minutes, people started trickling down and soon the place was close to being full. I liked the mallorca with ham, bacon, cheese! It was delicious. They looked small but they were filling. The pastries displayed at the window were inviting. If you're dining in, you have to tell your server that you're getting some pastries that are on display then you ask the person at the counter who also serves as the cashier to get them for you. The guava pastry was good. The vanilla bread with strawberry and pineapple/lemon was okay. They looked better than they tasted in my opinion. Payment for everything would be at the cashier after dining. If you're in San Juan, this is a place to try!

We just couldn't pass it up. So, let's talk about the history. It all started out as "Anita La Mamma del Gelato" in Tel Aviv back in 2002. "La Mamma del Gelato" that you see on the walls inside this shop represent the mother (Anita Avital) & son (Nir) duo who started it all. It's grown to many more locations to include NYC and Miami. There's even a sub-brand of Anita Gelato called "Golda Gilda" that is very popular in Israel. I have to be honest when stating that I've never heard of either gelato brands until seeing this shop near our hotel. We each decided to get the smallest cup size that includes 2 flavors. I selected Pavlova Mixed Berries and Chocolate Pistachio & Kadayif. There was a white chocolate version of it as well, but I decided to stick with the traditional milk chocolate. I don't remember what flavors my husband picked out. I'm pretty sure he enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed mine. I especially loved the chocolate pistachio one. That layer of pistachio cream & crispy kadayif was delightful. I didn't taste any pavlova in the mixed berry gelato, but it was still wonderful. They're very good about giving out samples for those who are unsure and want to get the perfect flavor. I wish we had returned to try more. It was a delicious & relaxing experience. The service was great. There's plenty of seating inside and outside. We fortunately arrived in the late afternoon when it wasn't too busy. Definitely do not pass this one up when in Condado.

I've bought them at the grocery store for my mother over the years when I couldn't find Menier. I was hoping to see some unique desserts at Chocobar Cortés. Let's just say that the chocobar at this location was not what I was expecting. It's like an express version of their original one in Old San Juan. This is located in the lobby of the Condado Palm Hotel. There are 2 entrances. Don't make the same mistake we did by trying to access at street level. That door is locked. You'll need to enter through the hotel lobby. The service is very slow here. There was only one other person there. We ordered a box of 6 chocolates and payed for it. I'm guessing he was making a drink for the other guest because he asked us to wait a few minutes. It ended up being longer so he told his colleague (who just came back from a break) to make up the chocolate box for us. Unfortunately, it took even longer as this other guy was more interested in the 2 young girls who just walked in. The chocolate bonbons were good, but nothing unique. It's the same artisan chocolates that you see everywhere for the same high price. Perhaps this location is better for their specialty cocktails in the evening time. I was looking forward to trying the choco-latte at some point. I doubt there will be a next time.

I had seen on the menu it was supposed to come with a cheddar cube, so I made sure to ask for it when it didn't come with it. It didn't melt down as much as I hoped, but the flavor was really good either way. All of our breakfast and coffee were really good, and we especially enjoyed the Mallorca bread. Besides having to ask for forgotten items (happened with the croissant and hot water for tea as well), and realizing when we got back to the hotel that there was a mix up with one bonbon flavor we had asked for, it was a nice filling breakfast.

Walk, run, drive, float, fly, cancel that trip to Hawaii; do what you need to do; Eat dinner here immediately! I mean like, right now. It's 4am and you're in Wisconsin? Don't care. You should be here. I went out looking for a healthy salad after days of eating very rich foods. Planned to go to Opa! Opa was packed, but the doors were locked and the sign was off, despite not closing for another hour according to maps. Oh well. What's this up here? Paulina's. Ok let me check Yelp. Great ratings let's see if they have salads. Right on Ashford, indoor and outdoor seating. It was packed and there was 45 minutes til close. So I went straight to the bar. The server/bartender gave me the best service on this trip. She was prompt, checked in me at the right time, spoke to me in Spanish when I tried but English when I needed to. She was warm and smiled to everyone. While she made drinks i asked random things about the island, the language, and she seemed happy to tell me about it. Vibe was elegant, slightly high scale. I didn't know until I saw the menu... oh this is a Mexican restaurant! I drank an old fashion. It was delicious but tasted a little weak. Not sure how that can be when it's all liquor basically. Maybe I was just in a mode. But it was good. In retrospect, wtf am I drinking an old fashion for? Should have had something more Caribbean! They had a great looking salad called El Orgánico iirc. But then I saw this interesting dish that came with a side salad. It is called "Torta elote de escanes" I think. Something like that. In Arizona a torta is a sandwich on a bun de Frances or Bolio. So I was struck when I read the description. Something about a corn soufflé, with green chiles. Sounded good but not crazy good. But then it went on "this is the one thing you should order at Paulina." Ok, who am I to argue? I ordered the torta elote; and two taquitos de pollo al pastor. (Chicken pastor tacos). She explained that the torts also had mushrooms and sour cream and is that ok. Yes, sounds great! Tacos came out first. Fantastic! I live in Arizona and am no stranger to pastor. This was top tier; probably the best I've had. Insanely tender chicken on a pan-toasted tortilla with pineapple and some sauce. Out of this world. But honestly, compared to what's coming next, I almost forgot all about those perfect tacos. Out comes the "torta". It looks like a rectangle piece of cornbread with crème and tomatoes on top. Served simply on a white flat plate, soufflé (torta) on the left, and the salad on the right. Ate the salad first. It was the low light. Fresh and tasty, but the dressing needs a bit more pop imo: maybe vinegar. I cut off a piece of the corn bread thing, being sure to include a bit of every ingredient. I'm lost for words. I don't know what to say. This is the perfect creation. This is a godly creation. I will never forget this. Now, as I mentioned, I'm from Arizona. So I love corn. I live green chiles. These are southwest flavors so maybe I'm biased. But this thing was perfect in every way as far as I'm concerned. What she said was sour cream I think was actually crème fraiche. But I don't care what you call it. Torta, sour cream, whatever! One of the best dishes I've eaten in my life. 6 stars.
