It's the chocobar extension of the Caribbean Chocolate Cortés brand of bars that are similar to the French Chocolat-Menier used for making hot chocolate. I've bought them at the grocery store for my mother over the years when I couldn't find Menier. I was hoping to see some unique desserts at Chocobar Cortés. Let's just say that the chocobar at this location was not what I was expecting. It's like an express version of their original one in Old San Juan. This is located in the lobby of the Condado Palm Hotel. There are 2 entrances. Don't make the same mistake we did by trying to access at street level. That door is locked. You'll need to enter through the hotel lobby. The service is very slow here. There was only one other person there. We ordered a box of 6 chocolates and payed for it. I'm guessing he was making a drink for the other guest because he asked us to wait a few minutes. It ended up being longer so he told his colleague (who just came back from a break) to make up the chocolate box for us. Unfortunately, it took even longer as this other guy was more interested in the 2 young girls who just walked in. The chocolate bonbons were good, but nothing unique. It's the same artisan chocolates that you see everywhere for the same high price. Perhaps this location is better for their specialty cocktails in the evening time. Chocobar Cortés was recommended to us, so we stopped in for a quick breakfast to start the day! As a chocolate lover, this was my paradise with beautiful bonbons and a chocolate theme to the menu. I had to order the traditional Puerto Rican hot chocolate, and I really enjoyed it! I had seen on the menu it was supposed to come with a cheddar cube, so I made sure to ask for it when it didn't come with it. It didn't melt down as much as I hoped, but the flavor was really good either way. All of our breakfast and coffee were really good, and we especially enjoyed the Mallorca bread. Besides having to ask for forgotten items (happened with the croissant and hot water for tea as well), and realizing when we got back to the hotel that there was a mix up with one bonbon flavor we had asked for, it was a nice filling breakfast. read more

I was really disappointed in Chocobar Cortez. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't what we received. I was so excited to order a chocolate old fashioned. What I received was a tiny plastic cup with chocolate hardened on the inside, and a regular old fashioned- for $14. The chocolates I also ordered were great but so pricy. I spotted this place on the way to my hotel And I knew I had to check it out. I'm so glad I did. They serve absolutely amazing chocolate! I got 4 bon-bons. In addition to being absolutely beautiful, they are also delicious. I ordered the rum, pina colada, cookie dough, and raspberry flavors. All of them were absolutely amazing. They were almost too pretty to eat... almost. The young man behind the counter was very nice and very helpful. The bonbons were about $3 and some change a piece... Absolutely worth it. My only complaint is that such gorgeous chocolates were denied a proper aesthetic presentation. Instead they were served in a 2 oz plastic sample cup. In addition to delectable bonbons, the shop has so many chocolate things. Chocolate bars, chocolate bon bons, chocolate chili rub, chocolate sea salt, chocolate sauce...even chocolate coffee. They also sell spirits that are infused with different flavors such as pineapple, passion fruit, ginger, and coconut. Our second trip to Chocobar was as a quick breakfast pit stop before heading to El Yunque. This location inside the Condado Palm hotel had me wishing that was where our accommodations were. The entrance to Chocobar is through the main hotel entrance, so be sure to head right through. A smaller location but super clean, similar aesthetic with their beautiful brand showcased throughout. The service here was top notch, so friendly and accommodating with all of my questions. I ended up getting us a Mallorca sandwich - jamon y queso (ham and cheese) and I added a fried egg for some morning protein. This traditional sandwich is dusted with powdered sugar on top - once again delivering that sweet and savory I love. No chocolate this time, but we did grab two iced lattes which hit the spot! The sandwich was delightful - perfect balance of melty cheese, salty ham, and delicate sweetness from the powered sugar on the light and fluffy bun. I also grabbed a yogurt parfait which was good but not the highlight for me; the granola was stale and the yogurt was sweetened (I assumed it was plain Greek yogurt and should have verified first). We stopped by this location for breakfast before spending time at the beach. Our group ordered avocado toast, the french toast, and Chocobar Pancakes. I drank an Iced Choco-latte, and the kids had a Choco Frio. The food came out within a few minutes and we sat at the table by the mural. Everything was delicious. Even though I ordered avocado toast for myself, I tried a bite of the other items and would have been happy eating those just as much. I recommend visiting here for a meal, a coffee, some pastries, or chocolates. Convenient for the hotels in the area but also if you're passing by in Condado. The staff were so nice too. read more

Took a visit to my favorite island PUERTO RICO! And of course If you go to San Juan you have to stop At ChocoBar Cortés ! The first time I came here was 5years ago and when I came back to PR of course I had to bring my family here again. I will say this time they made their choco frio different my son was not a fan this but personal I think maybe the chocolate was different . But a child's drink quickly turned into an adult drink we I asked if Bailey's could be added why waste a drink. Feb 16, 2025 review: This is the second location of the chocobar cortes restaurant. The first one is in old San Juan area and second is in condado area. Condando one is not so crowded, atleast not the evening 6pm time when we visited. Ambience is cute and coffee are top notch. We got 8oz cappuccino and 8oz hot chocolate and both were good for their respective taste. To be honest, I like the 8oz option. I'm finding a lot of shops in Puerto Rico have these options with 6oz, 8oz and 10oz. They have a lot of chocolates and dessert options too. read more

No idea how they make their pancakes so delicious- but they are out of this world! I have been tasked by my kiddo to learn how to make 'em "like they do" - if I want to be on Master Chef. I'd walked past Chocobar a few times but hadn't stopped in so today was the day! The shop is located inside the Condado Palm Inn. It's small but spacious enough for at least 15 people to fit in comfortably. I ordered the choco old fashioned along with a hazelnut croissant. They both were delicious! There were a few little coffee beans add to my old fashioned which was a nice touch. It was also made with Woodford Reserve which is one of my fave bourbons. The service was good as well. They were fast and friendly. I'll definitely stop in again before leaving the island. read more

This is our second Chocobar location visit this trip, the last in Old Town. This location is smaller, more compact and tucked into the lobby of a hotel. Not near the atmosphere of the other location, but still good coffee and food. We had lattes and the pastrami sandwich. Coffee was good, but not super hot. We did add the little chocolate nibs which were fun to eat at the end. The sandwich was good, but light on ingredients (one slice of pastrami and one piece of lettuce!). I am definitely a chocolate and sweets girl, So this was the spot for me. They had alcoholic beverages that mixed in chocolate and they had all types of chocolate sweets. It's a really quaint shop. Nice chill vibes. If you're in the Puerto Rico area, I suggest you check it out. read more

I recently stayed at the Condado Palm hotel where the restaurant is located and could not pass up some chocolate! I had the Mallorca Iberica for breakfast which was tasty but mostly just cheese. I enjoyed the frozen chocolate which tasted just like a Wendy's frosty! I had the coconut flavored frozen chocolate but it didn't have much of a coconut flavor. I bought a few bars of chocolate to take home, which were delicious especially if you like dark chocolate I recommend the Forteza bars by the cashier! They also offered large bars for baking/hot chocolate making and even chocolate hot sauce. I would definitely recommend buying chocolate here if you're interest as the same selection at the airport was over double the price! read more

We stopped in here for a quick breakfast. It did the job but is probably better known for its desserts. We ordered the egg wrap, which my husband liked. I ordered the Big Breakfast and added veggies to my egg scramble (definitely a good upgrade). The pancake had chocolate in it! The kids ordered the French toast and chocolate pancakes. My daughter said the chocolate pancakes had too much chocolate, which is saying a lot since she loves chocolate. They also had a cut out in the middle for strawberry jam. They do have chocolate syrup, which is fun. The interior is nice and updated. There's just a few tables and mainly bar top seating. The staff were very friendly. While they offer a variety of snacks and light meals, I stopped in for their selection of chocolates. A 12-piece box runs a little over $30, with a variety of flavors to choose from (including local or unique options like coquito, spice, and yuzu matcha.) The staff were very helpful in explaining the flavors to me as I picked them out, and the chocolates were boxed nicely. These DO melt fast, so make sure you're able to get them somewhere air-conditioned instead of keeping them with you all day. read more

We had to ask for it, but the guy made it for us right away. It wasn't till a while later when we were eating and drinking when he came out with the piece of cheese to put in it. Came here for a quick sweet before going to the airport. The hours on their doors were not updates as they were luckily still taking orders just after 6 pm. We admired their assortment of chocolates but ordered what we came for which was 6 churros. Being that they were on the small size, they didn't have that satisfying chew that I often look forward to in a churro. I also found that the chocolate syrup to be very artificially flavored. We also realized they only gave 5 instead of 6 churros. Overall, we were not very impressed with the churros but are curious about the other items their offered. This was a smaller one that was inside our hotel. We went in and tried breakfast one morning, and we both ended up ordering their avocado toast. Every dish that they have whether it be food or drink has some sort of chocolate component to it. This was a piece of brioche toast with avocado spread, egg (your choice), cherry tomatoes and bacon. It was amazing. They somehow put the chocolate in the avocado spread to give it a sort of Unami flavor. I also ordered the iced café con chocolate, which was to die for. Just think of sipping a melted chocolate drink that wasn't overpowering. On our last day on the way to the airport, I stopped in and bought their pastry box which came with six different pastries of your choice from croissant to churros to quesitos. I ordered two of each. The chocolate croissant is so delicious honestly, all of it was. We ended up bringing the pastry box home and had some for breakfast the next morning. As I said, this one was in our hotel so it was a smaller place. There was probably about six tables and a bar area that you could sit in. It was quite busy, but they moved very quickly. They also have lots of different coffees, whether they're chocolate based or not as well as different soft drinks juices lemonade and also some cocktails that you can get. I wanted to get in and try their chocolate cake but I wasn't able to do so because we were out every day until they're closing time. A very unique experience since chocolate is used as an ingredient in everything. I got a lot of recommendations to come specifically for the hot chocolate. There were a lot of tourists but it didn't feel too touristy. We shared the breakfast wrap and a quesito cortes. We were super hungry so the breakfast wrap hit the spot and we asked for some hot sauce and we were given pique with chocolate. This was such a hit we ended up getting a bottle to go. Really elevated the food. I was very hydrated with three beverages with the hot chocolate which came with a piece of cheese, a latte, and water. Learned through some googling that the cheese is suppose to go in the hot chocolate. Not sure I noticed a huge difference but it was great all the same. A friend who recently took a food tour in old San Juan told us the guide highly recommended Chocobar so I knew I had to stop. This location is not in old San Juan..mistake on my part as getting to old San Juan was the priority but we still stopped in, tried some specialty chocolate (spices and old fashioned) and picked up some chocolate sea salt sprinkle for the road. Stopped by for brunch on a Monday for an iced mocha, breakfast sandwich with ham, cheese and fried egg on Mallorca bread. Picked up a dozen chocolate truffles for the hubby. The iced mocha was smooth, rich and not overly sweet. Sandwich was perfect with slightly toasted bread, with a side of fries that I ate with chocolate ketchup. Sounds weird, right?? I really wanted to like this place as a chocolate lover, but aside from the Mallorca sandwich, the sweets I sampled were not great. The Madeline chocolate chip cookies were awful and a waste of money. My chocolate croissant had no chocolate in it and did not seem very fresh. And the frozen chocolate drink was more ice than chocolate. The service was pretty decent but not very fast. Also, things are pretty pricey, so keep that in mind when ordering. read more
