now New I can't speak…read moreany more highly of my experience at Gratitude Lodge. From the moment I arrived, scared/sick/miserable and sad, everyone there welcomed me with open arms. And that same level of kindness and quality care was what got me through the toughest 30 days of my 39 years alive. From Anthony and Taj helping me get to the bottom of my mental health issues and subsequent substance abuse, to Mario, Q and the rest of the support staff always cheering me up with a smile, compliment, or other kind words that gave me a sense of self-worth and purpose that I hadn't felt in a long time. I was extremely close to going to another facility but had a really bad phone call with their Director of operations and made a last minute pivot to GL. In a way, I'm so thankful for how poorly that call went and got unsupportive he was because otherwise I'd have gone there and not experienced everything that Gratitude offered me. If you're reading this now, you're likely in a place similar to where I was on March 3rd. Scared, guilt-ridden, humiliated and humbled. And while I deserved to hug the cactus for the poor choices I'd made, the support, administrative and medical staff gave me a sense of self-worth and determination - without which I could very well still be in the dark cloud that my life had become. I have a long road ahead to get to the life I, and my girlfriend, deserve but feel I've got the best head start and confidence to make whatever time I've got left on this earth the best it can be. You got this - all it takes is having faith in yourself and the team at GL that will guide you through the process of detoxing, getting sober, and uncovering the tools within yourself to make a full recovery.

They became her friends and cared for her in thoughtful and thorough ways, so much so that Mom, who is generally anxiety ridden about being in any medical facility, was feeling reasonably comfortable during her entire stay there. I have to say, though, the best thing about Marlora was its rehab staff, in particular Alex and Lauren who worked with her the most. Mom was often in the throes of depression and despair; I really believe the only reason she came through was the warmth and encouragement of Alex and Lauren. There was one moment in particular that stands out. Early on in her stay, she was scheduled to be transported back out to Los Alamitos Medical Center to see her surgeon. The rehab crew needed the surgeon's evaluation to be able to allow Mom to put her full weight on her injured leg during rehab sessions. Mom was troubled by a lot of pain then and refused to be transported, no matter how much I had pleaded with her. It was only with the gentle persuasion of Lauren and Alex that she changed her mind, went to Los Alamitos, got evaluated and then progressed on her rehabilitation. That was a lifesaver for us! On top of that, when she began her stay, she could barely move her left leg. This was no ordinary hip fracture: she had shattered her upper femur and the surgeon had to allow the fragments to simply fuse together randomly around a support rod he had put in. Lauren and Alex got her going, one slow step at a time, all the time dealing with setbacks caused my Mom's reactions to her medication. By the time she got out in early October, she could move reasonably well with a walker. These days, with me lightly holding on to her with a gait belt, we do the El Dorado Nature Center 1 mile trail every week. I can't thank them enough for their leadership, professionalism and excellent rehabilitation skills!

This place was fine while I was there, paying them. Granted, there were a lot of troubled older teens without a real issue, so it was hard to focus on my sobriety. The fact that it is more like a prison for rich kids says something, but I was still able to find my way. My main issue is what happened after I left. I needed proof that I was staying there and getting treatment for my addiction, which they would not supply. This caused my college to fail me in classes and dropped my GPA to a level I will never recover from. Additionally, they released a newsletter that printed my sobriety date falsely. They said I relapsed on print. This is inexcusable to do to someone early in sobriety. It's hard enough staying sober without your old rehab messing with you. They committed libel, and I probably should have sued. Had my family seen that newsletter, they would not have spoken to me for years. I guess I got lucky that no one read it. I am still sober (over 15 years!) despite their efforts or lack thereof. Needless to say, they did not help with my long-term sobriety. They were detrimental to it. Probably in their best interest for people to relapse, then they can bill you again and take you back. I stayed sober by avoiding this place like the plague once I got out. Lastly, what Cade said in an early review was true about one of their employees sleeping with one of the female residents. Generally, the women who stay there have it a little easier and get away with more. I guess that is why a lot of these 5-star reviews are by woman.

They're only thinking about themselves and their money the therapist there are a joke. They are completely useless And a complete waste of money. This rehab is not worth anyone's money hasn't helped whatsoever. It's just a humongous waste of time. Also, all the pictures is nothing like how the actual rehab is. The rehab is literally one star they will not do anything to really help you get through any of the step work or to help you get better. I would honestly say that if you're looking for a treatment center go somewhere else this place will just keep taking money from you and won't let you leave just because you signed a contract meaning that they have to keep you there making a very difficult to actually be able to leave on your own terms I will definitely suggest this place gets new staff a new owner and therapist that will actually be respectful. Also, on my time there a therapist got in my face and tried to fight me few of their staff members or very rude and always picking on me there I pretty much felt like I was being bullied while I was at that rehab by the staff, the owner and the clients they did not have any understanding of how it is to come off a hard drugs and if you're looking for any sympathy or empathy, you will not get it here the better solution for someone who is really struggling and needs a program would be good into a hospital so they can give your right medication. This place did not give me any medication whatsoever and drove me to insanity. definitely would not recommend this place one star

Broadway By the Sea - 5* rating from me because they pampered me at Broadway By The Sea in Long Beach California

Broadway By the Sea -- A Place Where Care Feels Like Family…read more Broadway By the Sea is more than a rehabilitation center -- it is a place where compassion, professionalism, and genuine human kindness come together to lift people up when they need it most. During my stay, I experienced something rare: a staff that treats every person with dignity, patience, and sincere respect. From the moment I arrived, the staff removed every fear I had., "In the morning they would come in the room and introduce his or herself by saying good morning Mr. Odis if you need anything just press the button." That simple act of kindness set the tone for my entire stay. Every person I encountered -- from the Case Manager to the Maintenance Workers -- treated me like family. A Team That Works as One One of the most impressive things about Broadway By the Sea is how well the staff works together. All three shifts operate like a perfectly coordinated team. No matter who walked into my room, they already knew what I needed and how to help. "I was very impressed on how the staff on all three shifts worked together as a team. Remember 'Team Work Makes the Dream Work.'" And at Broadway By the Sea, that teamwork is real -- you can feel it. Therapists Who Change Lives The Physical and Occupational Therapy staff didn't just help me -- they helped me regain my mobility. They pushed me, encouraged me, and made sure I was truly ready to go home. Their dedication is the reason I left stronger than I arrived. Kindness in Every Department Even the kitchen staff showed patience and understanding. If someone wanted more food, something different, or had a complaint, they handled it with grace."The kitchen staff never got upset... they would add or subtract whatever the complaint was." That level of patience is rare, and it speaks volumes about the culture of the entire facility. Healing the Heart, Not Just the Body When I first arrived, I was angry, depressed, and frustrated. But the staff didn't just treat my physical condition -- they helped heal my spirit. Their kindness turned my darkness into light."I actually smiled once the light came into my heart." That is what makes Broadway By the Sea special. They don't just care for you they care about you. A Perfect Score On a scale from 0 to 100, I gave Broadway By the Sea 100 plus -- and I stand by that. If I ever fall again and need help, I would request to go right back to Broadway By the Sea. They earned my trust, my respect, and my gratitude. Your Friend Mr. Odis

My father went to the hospital ER after becoming weak and having a seizure like experience. At 95, he had just become very weak and non-ambulatory. The hospital tests had shown that he needed attention that he could no longer receive at home with caregivers. He was transferred to Alamitos West. We found Alamitos West to exceed our expectations. The facility is kept clean and the staff is friendly, professional and very helpful. They treat dad with respect, monitor him for his medications and try to keep him comfortable. The nurses, assistants, and PT all have a hard job, but they have all been so kind and helpful. Communication about Dad's condition has been good during our visits and the team keeps us informed about his vitals, when meds are being administered and any new medications. The social workers and business office team were extremely valuable at answering our questions about insurance, discharge process, finances and options. They were all so helpful and genuinely caring as Dad was transferred from short term care to long term care. They definitely made the transition much less stressful and clear. Taking care of elder parents can be extremely stressful. We found Alamitos West to provide the much needed assistance we needed for Dad.

The majority of the staff are friendly and I do believe they try their best but they're short staffed and the whole place is poorly run. Patients are not getting their medications within proper/consistent timing each day and the scheduling for anything is chaos (showers/physical therapy/etc). We were genuinely afraid to leave her there alone and stayed every single day from 8am to 10pm just to make sure she was being cared for (which is not the point of nursing facilities). We all ended up getting covid and my mother was confirmed to have gotten a UTI. Nightmare experience here, hope to never return

When they did take care of my mom, they did so with pretty good care and gentle handling. The one thing I would be a little more focused on is the interaction between nursing staff and therapists- my mom was there to strengthen her legs after being in Kaiser ER with terrible cramps. But after therapy, she was usually back in bed which meant she spent the majority of her time not in a wheelchair, or not seated. Which, for an old person just accelerates the loss of muscle and energy. I know nursing staff doesn't like to move patients, but for patients who are there for therapy, I think there needs to be a little more proactive time out of bed to help them ready to get home. The management is superb. The front desk was superb. The Kaiser care team was mostly good. I wasn't a fan of the Kaiser Social Worker team as they did not connect the Home Health Care that my mom was to received after being discharged.
