Care is great and the staff are amazing and the office staff are great and the quality of care is excellent

Came to see my father in law. This facility was nice. There was a security feature to enter, as well as at the front desk upon entry. I was greeted with kindness and help to get checked in and locate dads room. The place was clean - no odor or must smell. The public restroom was also clean. Dad seemed happy. No complaints about his room and as I was leaving his physical therapist was coming in to help him exercise for the day. My father has been in the care of Broadway By The Sea since early 2025 and he is a kidney dialysis patient at the Long Beach VA Hospital. He is 94 and also suffers from late stage dementia. Early on it was a big adjustment for all of us, but through time, I think we have all adjusted nicely. The staff is very kind to my dad and to me when I am there. The facility is very clean and now features some new interior and exterior decor which makes it feel more homey and inviting. Broadway By The Sea has been an extraordinary place for my mother's care. From day one, the staff have shown compassion, professionalism, and attentiveness that gave our family peace of mind. My mom has now been there for over 18 months, and I can honestly say I've never had a negative interaction with anyone on staff. The atmosphere is warm, and the team goes out of their way to create a stable and supportive environment for residents and their families. My mom lives with extremely complex medical conditions and requires a specialized bed and numerous accommodations. She is frequently in and out of the hospital, and her needs are ever-changing. Despite all of that, Broadway has consistently adapted to meet her needs with care and respect. Through it all, my mother has never voiced a serious complaint--and that speaks volumes. Before choosing this facility, I personally visited 20 or 30 nursing homes. I took the decision very seriously. Broadway By The Sea earned my trust, and they've yet to break it. Like many facilities, they face challenges with staffing. I think they need more, as do all SNFs. But they continue to make everything work to the best of their ability. Their commitment to resident care is clear in everything they do. This has been one of the hardest periods in our lives, especially for my mom--and Broadway has made it more manageable, more humane, and far less lonely. I'll always be grateful for their presence when we needed it most. I would absolutely trust them with the care of any loved one. Was assured that they accepted my Mother's insurance a day in advance, but the day the hospital was releasing my Mother they said that they couldn't accept her insurance. Now we have to accept a lower rated facility because she can not go home alone. While I check to make sure she's getting proper care at this facility, I have to go through the process again of locating and reviewing a higher rated facility and work(still need to care for my kids). read more

If you want your elderly family member to get good care DO NOT BRING THEM HERE. My aunt died last week and they were at fault in many ways. They did not have good doctors at all. The medical staff is a joke. Dr. Phillips kept saying my aunt didn't need a surgery that basically brought her to the point of having to be put on hospice because she would never get better without it. We could never get the psyche doctor to call us back. Same with office staff. They left her in bed in her soiled diapers and she got per their words a "raging UTI". They left her in bed with no physical therapy so her feet turned in and she wouldn't have been able to walk again even if she got better. The night before she went into ER she fell out of bed and she is a non-walking patient. How could that happen? We asked and they never told us why or how. She was so sick and they did not care. This place was good the first couple of years but not anymore after changing owners. If I could close a place down it would be here. Shame on you and your staff. read more

While my father was a patient there, I would visit often and the staff were always pleasant. The facility was always clean and I felt their staff were always attentive to their patients by often visiting their room to check on them. Upon my arrival, I was always greeted with a smile. My father was also pleased with how he was treated before his release. In particular, Angie and Patty were amazing! They would often provide updates on my father's progress and made the transition smooth for his release. In sum. I would highly recommend this facility because the care was phenomenal and I never encountered a bad experience with any staff. Over the course of five years I have had the pleasure of working with Broadway by the Sea in various capacities. I have assisted many patients within the facility and have recommended it to friends, family and other professionals within the healthcare industry. I give this skilled nursing home a 5 Star. What a wonderful experience I had at Broadway By The Sea. The sicker they were the more compassionate the staff were.  Such tender loving care given to truly helpless resident, especially by those that seem to be forgotten by the friends and relatives. ......Room service therapy, given by the CNA staff.  No order was to big or small.  They were constantly at our beck and call.  ....... I can't say enough about their rehab department. They do their job with such efficiency.  Safety precaution is an A plus. They were constantly helping us to the next level with encouragement and action..  The screening and testing of visitors mandatory,  protecting us from covid The activities coordinator Angie is a plus getting the most introverted and sickly resident to participate in all the activities.  When the activities were over,  and it was time to end their good time, some of them were chanting for more......any brain activity is/was stimulated by the activities coordinator. Terri in PT is a plus when it comes down to inspiring you to getting your mobility back. Had a terrible time trying to actually get physical therapy. Some of the employees seemed impatient and of easily irritated.

My grandfather is on his deathbed because of the negligence of this facility. He was telling the nurses and complaining that the area where is catheter was in has a lot of pain. They did nothing for him! Until we contacted them, and in result he got a Urinary Tract Infection. To a 93 year old man, it becomes deadly. Now he is on hospice, and we're all struggling saying goodbye to our papa. They always had an excuse when we trying to contact him, and lost his belongings as well. My experience at Broadway by the Sea for my rehabilitation needs while recovering from surgery has been unequaled. After a very invasive back surgery, Broadway provided, and continues to provide, thorough medical support and a nutritious diet to speed up recovery. I would first like to pay the highest compliment to the entire nursing, therapy, meal chef/kitchen staff, and all other support staff in their respective fields. I have never experienced such professionalism, courtesy, and thorough knowledge and experience in job performance. They are in tune to meeting the diverse needs of all patients. Above all, there is a joyfulness they possess in performing their duties. My father was recovering from a stroke and fighting cancer with dementia and fell at this facility. Instead of calling 911 they felt it was acceptable to have him wait 3 hours for a private ambulance to come. His hip was fractured and he is on blood thinners but john Chapman the administrator told me that my father's injuries were NOT life threatening. These are evil people who do not care about anything but money. They should not be open. The place smells like human waste and the staff ignores the patients. My Mom has been a resident at this facility for a little over a year now and they have been absolutely amazing! The staff is always friendly and curteous. They treat my mother with kindness and make sure that she is taken care of which is VERY hard to find in a nursing facility. They have a meeting with the family every 3 months to discuss her plan of care and answer any questions or concerns that i may have. I'm very thankful that i found this place for my Mom. read more

My dad was a patient here last year and he received excellent care. This was my first experience with a nursing home; therefore, I was very apprehensive because of the horror stories that I've heard. The nurses and CNAs were so nice. My dad has dementia and was grouchy and could be very demanding at times, but even with these difficulties, they still were understanding and took great care of him. The front office staff, Administrator, and Social Workers were also great. They really helped me get through this stressful experience. The only negative experience was with the Communications Director, who was rude, but she's not someone I normally interacted with. Overall, they were excellent and I highly recommend because of the nice, caring, professional, and skilled staff. They helped my dad go from not walking to walking with a walker. I would highly recommend Broadway by the Sea to any that requires quality rehabilitation. The facility is clean and the employees really make you feel at home. My prescriptions were always on time and the physical therapist took the time to teach me how to relearn simple task such as getting to the bathroom, learning to walk again and indoctrinated exercise into my lifestyle. This is my second review. The first one I did three days after being admitted. Well it's been three months later, and I must admit that I'm even happier to be writing this review than the first one. This is the most wonderful nursing home I've ever seen. They have the very best staff around. They are courteous, friendly, professional, and yes fun. They are what made my stay here so great. I was at Broadway by the Sea for three months. I refer to my time there as my summer vacation. I was admitted June 29th and was discharged on September 29th. During that time I received physical therapy five days a week. They were knowledgeable, helpful, and worked me hard enough to get me home in a short amount of time. The true heroes here are the CNA's. They treated me with dignity and were respectful. I was made to feel like I was family. The best part of my stay was the activities. They have a woman there that can make anything fun. We played bingo, my favorite, and have outings and parties. Next I need to say as a resident I made plenty of friends. Friends that I will continue to be in contact with. I loved my time there so much. Yes, I missed my home and my cat, but I would highly recommend this place to anyone who needs either short term care or long term care. Please do you wan't your mom or dad to stay here and think there getting the best care, Go Somewhere Else. This place almost killed my mom and got Covid from staff. The Adm is a total joke they make it like we can take care of Dad and no worries. Mom Got Bed Sores and and Had High Ecoli UTI, and I complained all the time, is mom getting turned NOPE, Did Mom Get Bed Sores YEP, and lost 14 pounds, YEP. Staff couldn't take care of mom's needs including fluids and food. Don't Trust the Adm or Staff and not wearing masks, that's a fact. If you think a Adm is your friend and says I keep my cell on 24 7 for 911 and staff always answer phone, No they won't, even the Adm agreed he couldn't get in touch with his staff over and over FACT. And guess what when your mom is in a room with another patient with dementia and takes her adult pants to crap in and throws on floor and staff do NADA. Don't risk your mom or dad's life here. I visited a friend at this facility and was very impressed. She refused to go back to the last place she went to due to the lack of empathy, kindness, and care. At the last place, where I visited, the staff seemed unhappy and acted as though they were doing her a favor. Very rude, harsh physically, and uncaring. I spoke up and they didn't seem to care. I am writing this to protect our elderly and those who are injured. Most importantly Broadway by the Sea was an option she had not been given and was covered by her insurance. So don't just take what they suggest. Look at all possibilities, especially if you care for those people in your life. From the outside it doesn't look super fancy, just nice. From the moment I entered I was welcomed and greeted with sincerity. The whole atmosphere was MUCH better. Each person I walked by smiled at me, nobody looked like they were there "just for a paycheck". It's was like a breath of fresh air to see people being treated with happiness, kindness, and empathy. II've been to may of these places and started to think that all places for the average person had come to this sad and careless level of care without having big bucks! Although rare, I am very pleased to have an organization like this in my own neighborhood. And if I ever needed this kind of help, TAKE ME THERE!! My Mom needed rehab for hip surgery six months ago and we decided on Broadway By The Sea. I spoke to Dean beforehand and bombarded him with questions but he patiently answered each of them. My Mom spent two months here and the staff was incredible. The facility is clean and as you walk through the hallways, you were always greeted by the friendly nurses and staff. Sonia and her team were incredible! So helpful and knowledgeable. They really helped my Mom recover from her hip replacement. I will forever be grateful to Broadway By the Sea skilled nursing facility. To the staff from the nurses to the cafeteria workers were just amazing helpful and so kind. I'm young but was in need of some TLC after two back to back surgeries. Dean went up and beyond to get me settled in all while running around from their annual Christmas party. That is true patient care!! I can not thank them enough. Jerd was great about keeping me informed every step of the way, and that brought me comfort. While my stay was very short due too a family emergency, never did the staff make me feel pressured or overwhelmed. I had nurses from other units come too Comfort me. While I had too check out of the facility too deal with my emergency they still where reaching out too check on me and too see how they can assist. I like how bright and clean the environment is here! The staff is very friendly, and the nurses do their best to care for their patients. They really are a couple blocks away from the ocean, and close to Bixby Park. I like that the residents have monthly outings, and they really look forward to this. Their expertise is in nursing, therapy, and hospice services. I've also noticed they do respite care. The parking does suck, but I guess that's typical for the area. read more
