Shawarma Pita with a side of fries
    Jenny C.

I really wanted to like this place, especially after reading so many glowing reviews. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the hype. I got the shawarma pita w/fries. While the portion size was decent, the pita itself had more filler veggies than actual meat, which was also quite bland. In fact, the overall meal was so flavorless that if it wasn't for the ketchup, I definitely would've thought I got covid and lost my sense of taste. With their prices, I could be convinced to give falafel cafe another try, but at this point, I am not hopeful.

Very friendly and fast veggie and cheese pies as well as other Mediterranean fare made to order.

Wow we had such high hopes in helping a new business but came away disappointed First, the owner put on a soiled mask after she washed her hands then prepared to make our food in the age of Covid, it doesn't bring confidence to diners in how she handled herself Second, the food was underwhelming relative to other Mediterranean food in the area It was not bad but certainly not very good Third, the service attitude of the owner wasn't pleasant or helpful She stated she would bring our food outside but another diner told us to come in to get it. Candidly, she was just going through the motions When we asked he what she recommended she was very unhelpful Fourth, the plastic wear given to consume the food was the cheapest I ever used You could not cut with the knife or eat with the fork If you eat bring your own silverware Fifth, the servings consisted of mostly fillers The dinners for $14 did not give you much meat but did give you a lot of rice and:or lettuce

If you want authentic Lebanese food, this place has a variety of tasty options. I usually get the spinach fatayer and lentil soup. The lentil soup is perfectly seasoned and is light while satisfying, while the spinach fatayer brims with flavor!

Amazing food! The service was great and the food was out of this world. The coffee is also really great!

There was good service, but the food was mediocre. I was expecting more flavor, and or spices/seasoning.

Delicious and cooked with care! Proprietor really cares about the food she serves. A nice break from all the franchise places around here.

Brassica in Shaker Heights was such a good find while visiting a friend. I went twice in one trip,…read morethat should tell you something. Got the salad bowl both times with hummus and basically loaded it up with everything, and it just works no matter what combo you put together. Tried the chicken on one visit and the brisket on the other, both were fabulous. Fair warning though, the brisket is subject to availability, so don't count on it being there every time. Do yourself a favor and order the fries at least once even if you're trying to be good. They complement the bowl perfectly, and throwing a few fries right into the salad is genuinely a great move. Also have to mention the beer selection. Good local options and reasonably priced, which is a nice touch alongside the food. This place earns the trip back any time I'm in the area.

The hummus is also a favorite. I love a salad bowl with greens, hummus, falafel, special sauce, pickled cabbage + extra carrots. Don't sleep on the tahini chocolate chip cookies, either. Staff is all so nice when you go through the line to order your food. The restaurant is sparkling clean with a really patio area aside from the abundant seating inside. It's a favorite stop when I'm in the area for work.

(The photo shows half an order of lamacun, half was already in a belly!)…read more We are regular visitors to the area, and Omar's is new to us. My, my, is it delicious! The area we live in is very large and has many cuisines, and we love the variety and competition for excellence. We consider ourselves lovers of delicious food from all corners of the world. I lived in the Middle East for a while, and maybe this changes my view on food as well. This was our second visit this trip. Our first visit was with a group of 10, many dishes were tried by all but me (no gluten, garlic, onion, more - all the good stuff). Our group liked this spot a lot. On the last day of Ramadan at sundown, we waited a bit, but they managed to squeeze in a group of mourning family. All agreed that it was excellent. Tonight, just two of us. One grew up making homemade lamacun at home, and in the pic, it's already half demolished. Big thumbs up there. My dinner partner had lamb shish kabob with rice pilaf and the cabbage salad that comes with it. "Deee-licious!" they said. (Yum, didn't ask so I didn't realize could have it as it has no garlic or onions but I will happily share in the leftovers!) I had Omar's Special which is beef with spices and typically garlic. Absolutely delicious and not overcooked one bit. The garlic was not added at my request. I had fries since pilaf has tiny delicious fried pasta in it. It also comes with a cabbage salad, which I gave to my dinner partner. I also ordered the Shepard's Salad, without onion. Sized to share. Yes, please, and thank you. My dining partners opinion of the slaw is that it is great. Finely shredded cabbage with carrot and a nicely flavored dressing with herbs and caraway as we recall. If we lived anywhere near Ohio, we would definitely be back at Omar's more frequently. As it is, we will be back every time we are in town. Highly recommended. Dietary restrictions: I unfortunately have a LOT of dietary restrictions, which include many signature flavors here. Both visits they have been very open about ingredients and willing to modify anything possible. That's not always the case, and I so appreciate it when a place will be open and accommodating. I'd love an addition of a way to eat rice pilaf for those of us that can't digest gluten, and they seemed amenable to considering it as a new dish. This review is also available on Google.
