Saffron is an Afghani Cuisine that offers a truly authentic taste of traditional Afghan foods. I loved the huge variety and uniqueness of items offered on the menu! It's a hidden gem of a place that I'll be returning to whenever visiting Cleveland. We started with the Ash soup which was amazingly packed with noodles. It had tasty beef pieces, plums and a yogurt and herb topping. It was so delicious and not to be missed especially on cold days. We then had the various kabob plates; chicken, beef and lamb. The plates were generously portioned and the meats were both tender and flavorful. Fresh afghan bread was served with these as well as a fresh crisp salad. The baklava and tea rounded out the full meal. They offer different types of baklava; pistachio, almond, mixed nuts and they also have firni too. We want to come back and try the Mantu (beef dumplings), signature Kabuli pilau and the saffron tea Very friendly service and the chef is making serious traditional Afghan food.

Wonderful authentic afghani food with great service. We really enjoyed the rice and kabob dishes the highlight was also the saffron tea. I recommend supporting this restaurant. It's in its infancy and will only get better with time and support!

Nice cozy hole in the wall restaurant. Impeccable vibes, nice decor, great friendly service. I ordered the Qabuli Uzbek Pulao and afghan burger. The Pulao is well seasoned and has a good amount of meat. The raisins and carrots add a nice sweetness. I was surprised by how much I loved the Afghan burger. It's not a traditional burger, but the combination of fries, sausage and egg is so good. Try this spot.

They were crispy but meaty without being ridiculously oily. They were seasoned. They were lovely. To accompany tbis I had to get the garlic green beans, naturally which too hit the spot. This place was packed when I stopped by and I definitely want to try more from the menu.

Altogether, it was quite a decent amount for 3 ppl, we ended up taking back leftovers. The lamb kebabs were great, perfectly tender and well seasoned without being too salty. I can totally see why the eggplant is recommended by other yelpers--it has a light crisp on the outside, not too mushy. The other dishes, Kung pao chicken and salt and pepper fish also were well seasoned and also lightly crispy. While it's probably not the healthiest with the crispy fried texture, I think they were worth the taste, and I appreciate the addition of a few veggies in both dishes. Hard to pick a favorite since they were all good, but if I had to choose, would recommend ordering the kebabs and the eggplant. Service was decent, and the food came out pretty fast. Parking readily available as there's a parking lot outside. Definitely will consider coming back, and maybe even trying their takeout.

(The photo shows half an order of lamacun, half was already in a belly!)…read more We are regular visitors to the area, and Omar's is new to us. My, my, is it delicious! The area we live in is very large and has many cuisines, and we love the variety and competition for excellence. We consider ourselves lovers of delicious food from all corners of the world. I lived in the Middle East for a while, and maybe this changes my view on food as well. This was our second visit this trip. Our first visit was with a group of 10, many dishes were tried by all but me (no gluten, garlic, onion, more - all the good stuff). Our group liked this spot a lot. On the last day of Ramadan at sundown, we waited a bit, but they managed to squeeze in a group of mourning family. All agreed that it was excellent. Tonight, just two of us. One grew up making homemade lamacun at home, and in the pic, it's already half demolished. Big thumbs up there. My dinner partner had lamb shish kabob with rice pilaf and the cabbage salad that comes with it. "Deee-licious!" they said. (Yum, didn't ask so I didn't realize could have it as it has no garlic or onions but I will happily share in the leftovers!) I had Omar's Special which is beef with spices and typically garlic. Absolutely delicious and not overcooked one bit. The garlic was not added at my request. I had fries since pilaf has tiny delicious fried pasta in it. It also comes with a cabbage salad, which I gave to my dinner partner. I also ordered the Shepard's Salad, without onion. Sized to share. Yes, please, and thank you. My dining partners opinion of the slaw is that it is great. Finely shredded cabbage with carrot and a nicely flavored dressing with herbs and caraway as we recall. If we lived anywhere near Ohio, we would definitely be back at Omar's more frequently. As it is, we will be back every time we are in town. Highly recommended. Dietary restrictions: I unfortunately have a LOT of dietary restrictions, which include many signature flavors here. Both visits they have been very open about ingredients and willing to modify anything possible. That's not always the case, and I so appreciate it when a place will be open and accommodating. I'd love an addition of a way to eat rice pilaf for those of us that can't digest gluten, and they seemed amenable to considering it as a new dish. This review is also available on Google.
