Saw this place in Montclair and wanted to give it a try. I got the gyro bowl and I was thinking I would get more. Needed more sauce when you mix everything the rice is dry for the lack of sauce. I also thought I would get more pieces of meat it was just a bowl of rice and sprinkled some meat on it. It was tasty but on the dry side. It would have been nice if we got some tomatoes and onions chopped up with it just to give it more than just rice and meat. The price isn't too bad for what you get just wanted some veggies. I gave one for the nice people that worked there. I didn't want to Yelp but I tried to call them and never heard back. I got the WORST Greek salad and hummus I've ever had. I have had 100's and this one was inedible. Warm soggy lettuce, unripe sliced tomatoes not chopped, giant thick cucumbers , thick slice of yellow not red onion, black olive NOT kalamata , a minuscule amount of feta and no dressing or oregano but lemon. The hummus tastes like water. Threw in garbage. I was so excited too as I hardly ever get lunch and I was starving. I even tried to doctor it up at home and it was futile. I don't understand how they have such a high rating. Waste of money. read more

When we moved to Montclair we were shocked to find such a good Mediterranean spot in this small town. My wife always gets the chicken platter and I get the gyro bowl. For a tiny hole in the wall, the food here is better than most fancier places. The gyro is especially tender, they cook it into small cubes so it's much better than the usual strips. The hot sauce is super tasty if you can handle the heat. The food is outstanding, the prices shockingly low for the bay area and Kunal, the owner, is so nice. Today's food was surprisingly bland compared to usual. The falafel sandwich had little to no sauce--no tahini or tzatziki--just dry falafel with flavorless veggies. Anytime there is a new food venture in Montclair it is something genuine to get excited about, but not in the case of Falafel Corner. One would hope that a food business boasting the name of one of their main menu items, would actually be good at making it. One can hope, and one can be dreadfully disappointed. disappointed by the acrid taste of their overcooked hockey puck falafels that spin out of the pita and bland 'tzaki' sauce onto the table at first bite. Poorly conceived, terribly executed, and hopefully forgettable, once the burned taste fades away. Other dishes ordered not worth mentioning, although my son liked the gyro. Also, the order took longer than it should have. I honestly resist writing bad reviews of restaurants having been in the business for years, but this is more a cautionary warning. Who are the people writing 4 and 5 star reviews here?? This is supposed to be a community of foodies!! Bad food should not be tolerated, especially at Bay Area prices. All are absolutely great, really fresh, spiced well and delicious. The service folks are genuinely friendly. I always get a little worried when trying out new falafel places that it might be one of those unfortunate ones where they pre-make the falafel and then the falafel is all stale and kinda cold-- that's the worst! Well this place is definitely NOT that. Their falafels are fresh and hot off the proverbial grill. They have a nice crisp to them with that perfect greenish inside and very tasty.
