Went to Lazeez kitchen for lunch after reading all the good reviews. The restaurant was empty with one family before me ordering. I ordered the lamb and beef platter. It took like 25 mins only to find out they made it for Togo and it's just sitting there, not a problem mistakes happen. The meat was juicy and flavorful, the salad had lettuce , onion and one baby tomatoes but a lot of olives. Maybe they do it this way. The place is clean and tidy. Catering services has always been a pleasure with online ordering and call ahead for large groups. Love the falafels and the sharma chicken and rice. Salads are always a hit with arugula only my favorite or mixed greens. Large party trays with chicken, beef and falafels. Cannot do without the falafels some of the best. I came here for dinner with my friends and it was pretty delicious! I ordered the plate and it didn't disappoint. The meat was in the saltier side but the rice and side salad balanced it out. I liked eating each piece of meat with some salad in the same bite. It was a balanced bite that I found to be so delicious. My friends ordered a wrap and soup. They also said it was delicious. Enjoyed the food here. Restaurant is clean and the service was really nice. It was a peaceful vibe. Kinda made me feel like I was in Brooklyn, NY honestly. Although the area is sketchy, it has a sense of warmth and welcome inside. I took off a star because the place was not crowded at all and our food was not rushed out (Good thing), but once it did come the rice was cold. However, the issue was immediately rectified. I had the chicken plate and my wife had the lamb plate. Very very very delicious. The portion size was nice. She also got the fresh fruit juice (Mango). That was good too. We will go back again. Wow this food is so good. We went on a Saturday for an early lunch around 11am. The chicken and rice plate was amazing. Tender juicy chicken and whatever rub or marinade on it is incredible. The ladies that helped us were fantastic. Honestly the best chicken and rice I have had in the Bay Area. AND I didn't care for the hot sauce at all. It's all about the rice and chicken. Hot sauce has almost a brine type taste to it. Olives would be my guess. Different but not my speed. Didn't matter at all. read more

Not spicy hot, has sweet, smoky, tangy & non-hot spicyness. **a contrast to Ethiopian berbere sauce which has sharp, hot spiciness. Lotsa yellow coloured flavored long grain rice. Lamb Shank with Rice was great. The lamb fell clean off the bone. If you have ever had birria with consome, the texture and flavor of the broth is very similar and delicious. I really wanted to love this spot--especially with all the glowing reviews--but my experience was a bit underwhelming. I ordered the falafels, which were decent but nothing to write home about. The Toum (garlic paste) was surprisingly flavorless, and the hot sauce, while okay, could've used more depth. The yogurt cucumber side really missed the mark for me--it lacked the tangy, herby punch I was hoping for. The sambosa had potential but again, felt like it needed a flavor boost. And the chicken shawarma wrap? A bit too greasy and missing those bold, traditional Middle Eastern spices that usually make it sing. Overhead menu similar to fast food places. Enticing baklava and pastries were in cases. Staff was friendly. The restaurant was very clean and with the appearance that it was recently renovated. At 6 pm on a Saturday, it was almost empty and quiet but people stopped by for to-go orders. A couple of solo diners enjoying a quiet dinner. Eats: 1. Lamb shank with rice and salad, with sauce on the side 2. Special foul with hummus and falafel served with pita bread. 3. Lamb shawarma 4. Baklava to go We loved our food! The lamb shank was so flavorful and tender. The sauce on the side was so delicious! We also love the hummus and falafel with pita. It came with whole chickpeas which I never had an appetizer like this before. It was a very enjoyable and satisfying dinner! Went here last week. Perhaps it was an off day. Shawarma and falafel takeout order. Shawarma meat was dry and tasted more like jerky. The falafel was over fried and hard as a brick. It also tasted like burnt rubber, perhaps something dropped in the deep fryer. Had to throw out. read more

Absolutely delicious food! I've had their falafel, foul/fuul, soup, chicken shawarma wrap, veggie sambusa and some baked/pastry items. Sometimes I get a free cup of chai, other times I don't. Only complaint is the horrible cologne smell. I used to think it was coming from a person, but then I came in kind of early and there were no customers, but the smell was just as strong as before. Tucked away in a small enclave of stores of telegraph, Lazeez sells some pretty satisfying kebabs and shawarma. The plates are pretty pricey but are good for two meals if you're not super hungry. The shawarma and rice was well flavored with a variety of different spices. The salad was ok with just lettuce, onions, and tomato with a vinaigrette dressing. I got some cucumber yogurt on the side and it was the best part of the meal. We've been enjoying it on our salads. Could use some lemon juice for a little more tartness. There's plenty of seating but nothing fancy. We got ours to go. Ambiance is fast foodish so not a date spot. Definitely worth going to if in the neighborhood. read more

We found this place while in the area--it popped up in a search for nearby restaurants, and with all the great reviews, we decided to give it a try. We chose it over a place with hundreds of reviews because all the reviews were great and we really love Middle Eastern food. It was close to closing time when we arrived, and it was dark outside, so we weren't quite sure where to park at first. Luckily, we found a spot just across the street. From the start, the customer service was excellent. The person who took our order was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu (especially gluten-free options), and very helpful. We decided to share a chicken shawarma plate and a hummus plate. The portions were generous--probably more than enough for the two of us! The chicken shawarma was delicious, served over a bed of yellow rice with a side of Greek salad that I actually preferred over the ones I had in Greece. The food was beautifully plated, and it was clear a lot of care went into its preparation. It took about 15 minutes for our food to arrive--not the fastest, but absolutely worth the wait for the quality and attention to detail. The hummus plate was huge, served with pita for my non-GF counterpart. The hummus itself had a distinct and almost unexpected flavor--different from traditional hummus. The more I think about it, the more intrigued I am. I'd love to hear what others think! It's definitely worth trying alongside their other dishes, but I'd say the hummus might be a bit much if it's the only thing you get. The unique flavor is somewhat distinctive and might be too different for one person to finish on their own especially if it's the only dish you get. One thing I'd love to see in the future is the option to add cut veggies with the hummus, which would be great for those who don't eat pita. Although this is a Middle Eastern restaurant, as I mentioned, some of the flavors were different from what we've had before. Having just visited Greece, we found ourselves trying to pinpoint the unique spice blend but couldn't quite figure it out. There seemed to be a hint of cloves. It was very subtle. Towards the end of our meal, our server offered us complimentary chai, which was a lovely touch and perfect for a chilly evening. We really enjoyed that. Before leaving, we chatted with our server, who turned out to be the owner. It seems to be a family-run place. When we asked about the flavor influences, he explained that while the food is Middle Eastern, they are originally from Eritrea and incorporate Eritrean spices into their dishes for a unique Middle Eastern experience. That explained the flavors we couldn't quite put our finger on! Overall, we had a very good experience and recommend this spot. I would call it a hidden gem! It absolutely deserves more recognition. They have the flavors down. I can't remember enjoying foul as much as this place. The "special foul" comes with chopped onions, tomato and peppers, which adds to the the freshness and flavor provile. The pita is tasty, warm and fluffy without being difficult to tear and use a finger spoon. It's a nice place, counter service and lots of seating. The people that I met that work there are friendly but not saccharine. The menu is a winner, with items like foul, fata, shakshuka and fitfit. They also have chicken, lamb and beef shawarmas. I went solo, which limited me in what I could order. It would be great if they had some combos that included more than one of the items. There are wraps and plates; the plates come with rice and salad. It would be great to be able to get a wrap with foul on the side. Will definitely go again, pick up a larger order for the family so we can try more of the items. read more

I was here a couple weeks ago. The lam Shwarma was so delicious that I drove back specially to pick up two orders, just for myself. The potions are large and I can eat each order for 3 meals. I ordered a lamb schwarma plate to go. The plate was generous but bland. The pieces of lamb were was really tough, dried out and flavorless. There was only a drizzle of tahini over it so that didn't add much flavor. The rice was plentiful and fresh. The salad was tired and the dressing tasteless. I ate a few pieces of the meat and lots of the rice. Then I threw the whole thing away. If we still had our dog I would have let him have the meat. I could've had a better meal from a food truck.
