In our recent storm I had a limb break on our large redwood tree covering a school walk-way adjacent to our house. I called and swear their receptionist Tony said it would cost $300 for an emergency call out and $100 dollars an hour thereafter. Low and behold they were out at my house, threw a rope over the limb, tied the rope to their truck and tore it the rest of the way off and chucked it in the wood chipper. Cost $450 dollars. Called to ask why it was another $50.00 over what I had estimated and Tony tells me that it was $300 for the call out and $300 an each hour thereafter. The guys left without even giving me a bill. Just seems completely shady for what they actually did. Looking for a licensed arborsit to have on call and never using this company again. read more

If it was possible to give negative stars, I would. Fallen Leaf was contracted by my HOA to trim the residential trees throughout the community. Our tree in the front yard had been professionally trimmed in October by another company. It was away from the roof and trimmed up from the ground to a safe height for gardeners to work beneath the limbs. Despite not needing to be trimmed, Fallen Leaf sawed off 7 major limbs on the house side, shearing that side of the tree practically flat. They removed 4 major limbs on the street side. All of this "trimming" was completely unnecessary. The tree now looks unbalanced and ugly. The shade and privacy from the tree are permanently gone. The tree trimmers were supposed to be supervised by a certified arborist. The trimmers said they had not received any instruction except to trim all of the front yard trees "up 7 to 9 feet". Certainly a one-size-fits-all approach to tree trimming that does not lend itself to proper trimming and makes me question the credentials and the involvement of an actual certified arborist in the tree trimming process. I would never use or recommend this outfit to anyone, even my worst enemy. read more

Risked my LIFE and do not care at all. I will make this as short and sweet as possible. Fallen Leaf Tree Services risked my LIFE and seem to have no care at all. I was driving down San Antonio in Palo Alto, they had one lane blocked off. There was much traffic due to this, which is completely understandable. As I am driving by at about 5 MPH or so a HUGE branch fell from about 12 feet high. If I did not slow down it may have went through my windshield, or it could have fallen right in front of my vehicle, or on top, etc. It hit my brand new BMW M3 wheel and damaged it. The branch, or should I say tree, was about 10 inches wide and maybe 2 1/2 feet long. I heard all of the crew yelling. I pulled over and whom seemed to be the foreman walked up to my car. He was very nice and very concerned (not to be mistaken with the so called owner.) He kept pointing blame to the person who was cutting down the branch. Said he was under trained, and made a huge mistake and that they would rethink his position with the company. I told the foreman not to worry, because I was not injured in the situation, and he is lucky that it was not an elderly person or a young driver who would not know how to handle the situation. I got his number and drove away. I was upset about my wheel because they were so new to me. I called my mechanic and got an estimate for the repairs. I called the tree service place and sent them the quote. The so called owner called me back. I believe his name is Gabe Bieler. I do not know how to spell the last name. He called back, came and looked at my car, and HAS NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. I am in the process of making a claim with the City of Palo Alto, Osha, and taking them to small claims court. The owner has no care about the community and/or the safety of us. Nor does he care to repair the damages his company has made. I often wonder if he has a wife, a daughter, a niece, a grandmother, a mother, or any female he cares about in his life and what he would do if something like this happened to one of them. He obviously has no concern for any other persons well being. I just thought I would let anyone know who drives by any of their trucks to make sure to bring your helmet in case of an emergency. read more

Very pleased with everything from their office staff to Jim the tree expert who helped me decide how to best manage this forest of huge redwoods (11) and can't say enough about the 3 man team who cut and trimmed the trees. Unbelievable to watch them scale these trees that are easily 3-4 stories tall. They used a rope pulley system and were very safety conscious for themselves and the crew on the ground hauling away the debris. Amazing that they did all this within feet of two neighbors and three fences and nothing damaged. Neighbors so impressed that they called for the contact info. The 3 man crew were not only masters at their craft but so pleasant to have around as they worked . When they left each day the yard, driveway and street were clean. My forest looks so much better and is healthier for the future of the trees. I will be using them in the Fall to trim the rest of my trees after I see what makes it through the summer. Next week the grinding guy will come to finish the 3 stumps from the trees we removed and I will review that part of their service as well. read more

Fantastic. I have never dealt with a company as punctual and professional as this. I initially called for an estimate to spray trees. Terry showed up at the exact time scheduled as if he was sitting in the truck for the exact time to knock on the door. Same thing happened for the day of spraying. I then called for removal of other trees and again, punctual as ever for the estimate. The crew showed up at the exact time as well. Removal and clean-up was such that one would never know trees were ever in place. Wish they did other jobs I need done. I would trust all work would be perfect too. Gabe with Fallen Leaf quoted the removal of our Oak Tree. His quote was 1/3rd the price of his competitors because his company has their own crain. On the first day of the job, the crew discovered that the crain would not fit up our drive way and that they would have to remove the tree by hand. Instead of coming back and asking for more money, he stuck to his original price and removed the tree. The crew was incredibly polite and cleaned up the site at the end of each day.
